#1 Gone Girl reaction videos – When Gone Girl was released in local cinemas back in 2014, I never bothered to see it. Along the way, buzz about the movie spread like wildfire through North American entertainment websites and social media with assorted topics like toxic marriage, manipulation, dishonesty, defamation and betrayal discussed. I eventually saw Gone Girl via streaming just a few years ago and I can say it was a very intriguing movie to watch. That said, it is not surprising that a lot of movie reaction videos featuring it were posted on YouTube. Posted below are the more engaging reaction videos selected for you all.

#2 Why Manga Keeps on Triggering the Internet – It is a very sad fact that there are a lot of fake fans and phony intellectuals out there who seriously believe they are experts on entertainment. This explains why there are so many video essays or so-called analysis focused on established entertainment franchises and entertainment media. That said, there are a lot of fake fans, pretenders, larpers and online tourists who posted their distorted views about manga (Japanese comics) and misinterpret what the original creators did. #3 Maximum Carnage video game remembered – Back in the 1990s, I read the comic books of the Maximum Carnage crossover storyline but I never played the video game adaptation. Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage had a very ambitious marketing campaign that captivated many gamers, Spider-Man fans and comic book readers. There was this movie-like build-up that easily kept people thinking about the video game. When it was officially released, there were gamers who expressed disappointment after playing it. #4 The Pizzerias in the Mountains of Japan – There is absolutely nothing like exploring the countryside and other nature spots of Japan. Deep in the mountains of Tokyo and Saitama are pizzerias that offer visitors food with unique flavors, homemade ingredients and the immersive closeness to the natural environment. I personally want to visit these food joints the next time I visit Japan. Watch and learn from the Nippon TV video below.

#5 Totally Whatever reacts to Fast Times at Ridgemont High – It has been over forty years since Fast Times at Ridgemont High was first released in cinemas. To this day, a lot of film buffs considered it as one of the most defining movies Hollywood released in the 1980s, and also one of the most memorable American teen movies ever. Not only that, Fast Times at Ridgemont High was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” The old movie continues to impress first-time viewers and you should see how it impacts Totally Whatever in their reaction video below.

#6 Castlevania games revisited – This year marks the 40^th anniversary of the original Castlevania video game released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan. The classic horror-themed, 2D side-scrolling adventure game produced by Konami made a huge impact on gamers who enjoyed 2D adventure games and the success it achieved led to the release of many sequels and spin-offs across different platforms. There is a lot of creativity and inspiration behind the production of the original game. #7 Ashleigh Burton reacts to Teen Wolf – When it comes to the 1980s, Michael J. Fox is often remembered for playing the teenager Marty McFly in Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II. Speaking of teenagers, Fox was the star in the 1985 coming-of-age fantasy comedy movie Teen Wolf where he played a high school student who could turn into a werewolf. As it was released after Back to the Future, Teen Wolf emerged as a surprise commercial success grossing more than $80 million worldwide. Hundreds of Non-Citizens Voted More than 1,500 Times in Multiple Elections in Washington State

With the 2026 mid-term elections getting closer, the issues of election integrity and voter fraud are in the spotlight as federal prosecutors announced that there were over four hundred non-citizens who voted more than one thousand five hundred times in Washington state elections over the decades, according to a news report by Breitbart News.

Under the Trump administration, the federal government is working hard to solve voter fraud and ensure the credibility of American elections. All states require US citizenship (by birth or naturalization) to both register and vote in federal and state elections.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the news report of Breitbart News. Some parts in boldface…

Federal prosecutors said Monday that investigators have identified 405 people they believe are not U.S. citizens who voted in Washington state elections, casting more than 1,500 ballots over multiple elections.

Neil Floyd, the acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington, said federal officials sent the names to state election officials and asked them to set aside any ballots from those voters until their eligibility can be checked.

Floyd said investigators were confident in their findings but believe the number of noncitizens who have voted in Washington could be much higher:

Through our investigation, we have confirmed with high confidence that non-citizens are voting in the state of Washington in federal and state elections. Thus far, we have identified over 400 non-citizens who have voted in Washington, and many of them have voted multiple times. That means we have identified over 1,500 ballots illegally cast. This is not the full number of non-citizens who have been voting in Washington. This is only the tip of the iceberg. With a small sample that we have collected so far, I’m confident that we are looking at thousands of non-citizens who have been voting in Washington.

Floyd did not provide a statewide count to support his estimate that thousands of noncitizens had voted. The 1,500 ballots he cited were allegedly cast over several decades, according to a report on the investigation.

The request comes ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.

Floyd said Department of Homeland Security investigators compared publicly available Washington voter lists with federal records to identify registered voters they believe were not citizens. They then checked whether those individuals had cast ballots.

He said investigators had to conduct several checks to make sure the records referred to the same person, making the work time-consuming.

Washington has declined to provide the federal government with its full voter registration database, including personal identifying information. Floyd said:

Washington has refused to share the complete list of registered voters with identifying information. We are having to do this essentially one person at a time. If we had access to the full database maintained by Washington, this could be done much more efficiently. We could simply compare Washington’s information to ours and it would yield immediate results.

Floyd said his office would pursue criminal cases against people who vote illegally and those who knowingly help them do so.

A Look Back at X-Men 2099 #24 (1995)

Welcome back, superhero enthusiasts, 1990s culture enthusiasts, X-Men fans and comic book collectors! Today we revisit the Marvel Comics shared universe through one of the many tales of the X-Men 2099 monthly series.

One of the things I enjoyed the most about the X-Men 2099 series was its expansion of the 2099 universe lore as well as the portrayal of uncertainty that mutants deal with in the more desolate parts of America (far away from Spider-Man 2099 and Punisher 2099). Along the way, the futuristic X-Men themselves were really torn down by a series of unfortunate events that includes the departure of their founder and leader Xi’an (eventually Controller X of the Theater of Pain). With the team members separated by circumstances, they were given their own tales and character development periods.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at X-Men 2099 #24, published by Marvel Comics in 1995 with a story written by John Francis Moore and drawn by Ron Lim.

Early story

The story begins in southern California where the Slaughterhouse gets shaken by the force of a gamma bomb that detonated far away. Inside the facility, Quiver and Sham struggle as they sneak carefully. They intend to escape even though the odds are against them.

Nearby, the demonic Theater of Pain leader Brimstone Love strikes Junkpile (now with SHIELD serving the new President Doom 2099) hard and seriously damages him. With Junkpile down, the evil leader believes that Doom’s best is a failure and the Theater of Pain has nothing to fear from him. Brimstone Love issues an order to have Junkpile disposed.

Several feet below the ground, Skullfire and Luna find themselves contained after getting captured. For Luna, Xi’an is a lost cause and she prefers to find Shakti and escape. Skullfire, however, insists on pursuing Xi’an even though their situation looks very hopeless. As the two try to escape, they end up facing the muses of the Theater of Pain’s bloodsport arenas…Euphoria, Felicity and Bliss. Luna was previously one of them…

Quality

A dramatic comic book scene depicting a confrontation between two characters. One character, wearing a green outfit, appears distressed and is gripping her arms while shouting. Being the comic book that immediately precedes issue #25, there is a lot of creative stuff here that X-Men 2099 fans will enjoy. The Moore-Lim duo took their time in setting up the eventual restoration of the futuristic X-Men as a team while carefully telling the dangerous events they will face with the Theater of Pain standing in their way.

Fans can find small moments that can be enjoyable or even intriguing to discover such as Luna facing off with her Theater of Pain “sisters” of long ago, the reuniting of Bloodhawk with Meanstreak and Krystalin followed by the justification behind their decision to get involved, and more. What I find very compelling to read is Shakti’s interaction with Controller X (Xi’an behind the mask obsessively serving the Theater of Pain) and the rising danger the Theater’s operation is brewing. There is richness in the dialogue between Shakti and Xi’an, and the symbolic division between them – Shakti representing the X-Men and their former leader Xi’an now serving the evil ones – is really powerful to see.

The storytelling as a whole has a lot of depth behind it, and the build-up of the events is undeniably powerful. As the story progressed, the tension also grew stronger and you can feel the danger that awaits the futuristic X-Men.

Conclusion

X-Men 2099 #24 (1995) succeeds a lot on setting-up the big conflict of issue #25 and it also sets in motion the eventual reuniting of the X-Men. Along the way, there are small details here and there that will compel you to revisit previous X-Men 2099 issues. Brimstone Love’s evil was emphasized more here and Controller X/Xi’an’s determination to serve him and make a lot of people suffer under the Theater’s operation added a lot of tension to the plot. Consider this a very important read before reading X-Men 2099 #25.

Overall, X-Men 2099 #24 (1995) is recommended.

28 Foreign Nationals in California Charged for Registering to Vote Illegally in Elections

Almost thirty foreign nationals living in California were charged by the United States Department of Justice for registering to vote illegally in elections, according to a news report by Newsmax.

Under federal law, it is illegal for non-citizens – including the lawful permanent residents (green card holders) to vote for the US President, the US Senate or the US House of Representatives. All states require US citizenship (by birth or naturalization) to both register and vote in federal and state elections.

The Department of Justice announced Monday that it filed criminal charges against 28 foreign nationals living in California for allegedly registering to vote illegally or casting ballots in U.S. elections.

The arrests escalate a fight over voter rolls between California and the Trump administration, which sued the state last week after identifying more than 20,000 registered voters it believes are noncitizens.

At least 11 of the 28 defendants were arrested Monday morning, First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli of the Central District of California said at a news conference.

He said authorities expected to take the remaining 17 into custody “in the near future.”

The DOJ said in a news release that all 28 defendants, charged as part of Operation Protect the Vote, were lawful permanent residents, or green card holders, who have legal immigration status but are not U.S. citizens and are prohibited from voting in federal elections.

The charges include making false statements in naturalization applications and fraudulent voter registration, felony offenses carrying maximum prison sentences of five years.

Six defendants charged with voting illegally in the Eastern District of California face misdemeanor charges punishable by up to one year in prison.

The defendants arrested Monday were expected to make their initial appearances that afternoon in U.S. district courts, but no pleas were expected to be entered, the DOJ said.

Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter said the arrests demonstrated the need for California to address suspected noncitizens on its voter rolls.

He accused state officials of refusing to cooperate with federal efforts to verify voters’ citizenship and prevent illegal ballots from being counted.

“This Department of Justice will not look the other way while noncitizens vote in federal elections,” McCotter said at the news conference.

“Each of the 28 defendants charged today appears on the list of more than 20,000 likely noncitizen registrants we provided to California election officials last week,” McCotter said in the release.

“California refused to look at that list,” he said.

“Today’s charges show exactly what that refusal puts at risk.

“California must verify the citizenship of those more than 20,000 registrants before mail-in ballots are counted,” McCotter said.

Descriptions of the defendants released by the DOJ indicate that at least 22 allegedly cast ballots in U.S. elections. McCotter said at least eight voted illegally more than once, including some in the 2026 primary.

A Look Back at X-Men 2099 #22 (1995)

Issue #21 had a wild story as it reflected the impact of Doom 2099 who took over as President of the United States. Not only did Doom appear (which easily reminded readers about the Fall of the Hammer storyline and the few X-Men members who got involved) in Las Vegas, Halloween Jack was on the verge of causing tremendous chaos on the city and many innocent people within. Quite notably, the series started its movement of gradually getting the futuristic X-Men together again.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at X-Men 2099 #22, published by Marvel Comics in 1995 with a story written by John Francis Moore and drawn by Ron Lim.

Early story

The story begins at the Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico where a government helicopter arrives. Morphine Somers and an armored member of S.H.IE.L.D. appear to inspect the ruins. No lifeforms dead or alive were detected.

Meanwhile at a very dark location lighted by flames, former X-Men leader Xi’an meets with Brimstone Love and his trusted companions Charon and Felicity. The demonic leader of the Theater of Pain tells Xi’an that once he is initiated into the exquisite mysteries and dark truths of their group, he will emerge transformed. The Theater of Pain operates by providing twisted entertainment for an audience of the world’s rich and jaded, and by manipulating their deepest, most decadent fantasies which puts them under control.

Xi’an, who reverted back to his sinister self and abandoned the principles he held as leader of the X-Men, arrogantly tells Brimstone Love that he brought the Chosen and Master Zhao to him without being told what would happen to them. After being told that he must surrender his pride to become part of the Theater of Pain, Xi’an turns his back on the leader and begins to walk away expressing rejection. Brimstone Love suddenly tells him no one leaves the theater and teleports him…

Quality

If you have been craving for a powerful tale about Xi’an in the X-Men 2099 monthly series, this is the one to read. This comic book mostly follows Xi’an who at this stage had left the X-Men behind and started his participation with the Theater of Pain. As it turns out, his actual initiation to become a true member of the Theater of Pain really started in this tale and his new superior Brimstone Love is absolutely evil, exploitative and manipulative. Without spoiling the plot, I can say that Xi’an here was portrayed to be very vulnerable and truly disadvantaged as the initiation happens in three different scenarios which instantly reconnects with the painful stages of his past. That said, Xi’an perception of what had happened and how he related with personalities he encountered before truly gets tested. The same goes with his endurance as well as his handling of emotions and trauma. I can also say that the conclusion of Xi’an tale here is absolutely powerful and meaningful to see.

A scene set in a post-apocalyptic environment, showcasing a group of anxious individuals waiting in line at a facility called Floodgate Bio Resource Processing Center, surrounded by ominous flames and armed figures. — *Imagine this as the future of woke California.*

While Krystalin and Meanstreak are completely absent in this comic book, you will see Shakti, Skullfire and Luna who are still exerting efforts to figure out how to track down the Theater of Pain and save their former leader. Having served as the second-in-command to their leader when the X-Men was still intact, Shakti seeks a meeting with someone who was personally involved with Xi’an. At this stage in the series, Shakti and Skullfire are both focused on finding Xi’an believing that he can be recovered. This adds more to the tension leading towards the events of issue #25.

Conclusion

A comic book page featuring characters in a dramatic conversation about control, manipulation, and ambition, with fiery elements and colorful illustrations. — *Symbolically, Xi’an looks like he is already in Hell in the presence of the demonic Brimstone Love of the Theater of Pain.*

I really like X-Men 2099 #22 (1995). The struggle of Xi’an is the very meat of the comic book as the Moore-Lim duo set the stage for the reuniting of the X-Men and the major conflict that awaits them all in the 25^th issue. Xi’an’s tale here is absolutely compelling to read and there will be moments when you will feel sympathy or confusion as his struggle with the initiation goes on. Symbolically, the mental and personality torture on the former X-Men leader strikes hard on the essence of the futuristic X-Men itself. You might end up speculating Xi’an might have been delusional on following the steps of Charles Xavier and Magneto to lead mutants in 2099’s America. This comic book could make you think deeply how far the futuristic X-Men could exist without their former leader. As such, this issue should inspire you to revisit the first three issues of the series.

Overall, X-Men 2099 #22 (1995) is recommended.

Leechiu Property Consultants Sees Lower Foreign Tourist Arrivals to the Philippines this Year

During its recent media briefing, property consultancy firm Leechiu Property Consultants Inc. (LPC) says it expects foreign tourist arrivals to the Philippines to be lower this year compared to what was achieved in 2025 due to factors like higher fuel prices and other factors, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Leechiu Property Consultants Inc. (LPC) expects foreign tourist arrivals to the Philippines to be lower this year compared with 2025 due to higher fuel costs and more expensive travel.

The number of tourists to the Philippines was flat at 4.4 million in the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year after arrivals started to decline from May to August.

During LPC’s third-quarter media briefing last week, LPC senior manager of hotels, tourism, and leisure Adam Domingo said arrivals grew steadily in the first quarter, peaking at 12-percent growth in February, before momentum stalled in April and turned negative year-on-year from May onward.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran conflict doubled jet fuel prices, pushing up airfares and prompting flight cuts. Full-year arrivals are now expected to fall below 2025 levels.

“Unless we change how we do tourism at a basic level, foreign arrivals are likely to stay near today’s levels into next year,” noted Domingo.

He added, “The clearest evidence for what works comes from China and India. Where the Philippines made travel easier, through visa-free entry and additional direct flights, arrivals from both markets grew by more than 50 percent in the first quarter, and China has sustained that pace since February. Reducing travel friction produces results.”

The same logic shows up in the hotel pipeline, with about 70 percent of planned hotel rooms located in areas with direct international flights, which shows that private developers are building where access is strongest.

However, there is a gap as some destinations with strong private-sector commitment, such as Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province, are served by international airports that sit underused because they have no direct international routes.

“Developers are betting on these places, but travelers cannot yet fly to them directly. Government can match that commitment quickly by introducing direct international routes to these destinations. Compared with building or expanding airports, new routes can be put in place sooner and can lift arrivals faster,” said Domingo.

On domestic tourism, which earns four times what foreign travelers bring in, Domingo said, “we also need a closer look at the relocation of turboprop flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to Clark. Island destinations that depend on turboprops report that business is down.”

$1.5 Billion Obamacare Waste Targeted by Trump Administration

Remember back in 2009 when then US President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats made a lot of promises that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) – AKA Obamacare – would be very helpful to many Americans in a variety of ways? Believe it or not, Obamacare itself has fraudulent transactions and it cost taxpayers a lot of money that went to waste. That said, the Trump administration eliminated a lot of subsidies for multiple dead or duplicate enrollees which resulted in saving taxpayers roughly $1.5 billion, according to a news report by Newsmax. This development is the latest in the administration’s ongoing efforts to fight fraud, waste and federal program abuses.

The Trump administration has eliminated Obamacare subsidies for 189,000 duplicate or deceased enrollees, a crackdown on improper government healthcare payments projected to save taxpayers approximately $1.5 billion over the next year, federal officials announced Wednesday.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said the action follows the discovery of people receiving taxpayer-subsidized Affordable Care Act coverage despite already having Medicare, Medicaid, or Children’s Health Insurance Program coverage, as well as individuals listed as deceased.

The latest findings are part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to combat fraud, waste, and abuse in federal health care programs after the Biden administration suspended routine eligibility checks for four years.

“When it comes to program integrity, the Biden Administration was sleeping on the job,” CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said in a CMS release.

“They paused looking for duplicate Medicaid and Obamacare coverage for four years, creating a backlog of hundreds of thousands of duplicate enrollments.“

According to CMS, the Biden administration halted periodic Medicaid and Obamacare enrollment checks between 2021 and 2024, allowing hundreds of thousands of potentially improper duplicate enrollments to accumulate.

Trump restored the verification process in 2025, when CMS ended duplicate Obamacare subsidies for approximately 551,000 people already covered by Medicaid.

The administration saved nearly $4.4 billion through those efforts last year, according to the Daily Wire.

“We’ve already saved nearly $6 billion, and we will continue to work hard to restore taxpayers’ confidence that the programs they fund are spending their hard-earned dollars wisely and efficiently,” Oz said.

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. emphasized that protecting taxpayer resources helps preserve healthcare coverage for Americans who genuinely need assistance.

“Americans overwhelmingly support protecting access to healthcare for vulnerable Americans, but taxpayers shouldn’t pay twice for the same coverage,” Kennedy said.

CMS said individuals flagged for duplicate coverage receive notice and have 30 days to dispute the findings before their Obamacare subsidies are terminated.

Those affected may also appeal afterward or demonstrate that their Medicaid or CHIP coverage is ending to regain eligibility for subsidies. Similar safeguards apply when federal records incorrectly identify someone as deceased.

A Look Back at X-Men 2099 #20 (1995)

The past few issues followed the developments seen through the eyes of separated X-Men members – Meanstreak who assisted Halloween Jack’s move to take Las Vegas away from the Synge family, Krystalin who has been in California to help her brother, and Shakti who recently uncovered something about the legacy of mutants. That said, Bloodhawk’s absence was really noticeable and this was because Marvel Comics had him appear in a few Doom 2099 comic books set in the Savage Land.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at X-Men 2099 #20, published by Marvel Comics in 1995 with a story written by John Francis Moore and drawn by Ron Lim.

Early story

The story begins in the Arizona desert where Bloodhawk flies over the wasteland. He just returned from the Savage Land and he immediately notices huge tracks left behind by some kind of large machine and they are radiated. He notices a sick and radiated coyote approach. Bloodhawk grabs the coyote, says some words to it and kills it to end its suffering.

Meanwhile at the ACME Pit Stop (a roadside tradition of fuel and food since the year 2047), a conflict between business owner Cyrus and Lou Ann is taking place with lots of bystanders watching. Their conflict gets disrupted as a massive, large robot suddenly arrived causing everyone to panic. The robot grabs a long rig and threw it at the ground causing a huge explosion.

Bloodhawk, who raided one of his weapons cashes to arm himself with grenades, quickly flies in to attack the giant robot…

Quality

A comic book page featuring colorful illustrations of characters engaged in dialogue. One character is working with futuristic technology while two others listen. The setting appears to be a high-tech environment. The conversation includes themes of hardware and technology, with emphasis on weapons and satellite systems. — *If you read the details closely, you will realize the extremism of the Free Radicals and why they have so much in common with real-life anarchists and zealots.*

To point out the obvious, the main feature here is the focus on Bloodhawk’s return to the American wasteland coming from the Savage Land (chronicled in Doom 2099). By having him encounter a massive robot, it is clear that John Francis Moore and Ron Lim planned this to have a huge storytelling weight and give the X-Men 2099 fans – especially the ones who love Bloodhawk – something to enjoy. Along the way, this comic book has Bloodhawk gaining an unexpected ally which allowed the creators to show some character development on him. As many fans already know, Bloodhawk values nature and despises both technology and modern society as he saw them as devourers of the natural environment. In this comic book, he has a gigantic mechanical problem to deal with and the odds are absolutely against him. That said, Bloodhawk’s tale here is pretty much a big comeback from being absent in the past issues.

Meanwhile, Krystalin finds herself in deeper trouble. After helping the Free Radicals regain their very young but tech-oriented teammate, she finds herself and her brother still trapped by the gang. Continuing from what was symbolized in the previous issues, this comic book sheds light on political symbolism and the radicalized people’s obsession with drastic change in world they believe is controlled by institutions they perceive as oppressive. The Free Radicals have sinister values that make them comparable with real-life evil forces like Black Lives Matter (BLM), Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, Antifa, LGBTQ mobs, Islamists and others. The Free Radical’s youngest member clearly believes that anarchy means freedom.

Conclusion

A giant red robot stands menacingly on a rocky landscape, with two frightened humans in the foreground reacting in panic. The robot's systems are malfunctioning, indicated by a message about damage and a return directive. The scene is drawn in a comic book style with bold colors and dynamic expression. — *The design of this giant robot is corny to look at.*

Crafted with care and symbolism, X-Men 2099 #20 (1995) has two tales that are gripping to follow. The tales of Bloodhawk and Krystalin succeeded with ensuring a gripping read and moving events forward. That said, the stakes of Krystalin’s conflict with the Free Radicals have been raised even more. Those who are very fond of Bloodhawk will have good stuff to enjoy here. This comic book’s only weakness is the rather corny design of the giant robot, and it felt distracting from time to time.

Overall, X-Men 2099 #20 (1995) is recommended.

Trump Administration Trashes Biden-era Title IX Rules, Sex Officially Defined by Biology

Remember all the craziness that used to infect the United States during the term of the failed US President Joe Biden and his woke administration? Common sense in America continues to get restored as the Trump Administration will proceed with formally removing the Biden-era Title IX regulations and this includes restoring rules that were in place during the first term of President Donald J. Trump, according to a Breitbart news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Breitbart news report. Some parts in boldface…

The Department of Education said Monday it will formally remove the Biden administration’s Title IX regulations and restore rules issued during President Donald Trump’s first term.

The change takes effect Tuesday. Under the final rule issued Monday, the Education Department’s anti-discrimination policy will recognize sex as male or female at birth. It formally removes Biden-era regulations that extended protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity to students and employees at federally funded schools.

The 2024 rules also forced schools to use transgender students’ pronouns and changed how schools handle harassment complaints. A federal court struck down the rules in January 2025.

The Education Department then told schools it would enforce the 2020 rules. Monday’s action puts that change into the published federal regulations; schools have already been operating under the earlier rules.

The department said the last lawsuits over the Biden rules were dismissed in August, clearing the way for it to formally remove them. Education Secretary Linda McMahon said the move would make the written regulations match the court rulings and the rules her department has been enforcing since Trump returned to office:

Japan will intensify its crackdown against illegal foreign workers by boosting cooperation with the other divisions of the government very soon, according to a news report by Jiji Press. While the intention to solve the problems connected with illegal foreign workers is clear, the government of Japan still has varied obstacles that needs to be cleared in order to launch an effective crackdown.

Japan’s Immigration Services Agency will boost cooperation with other government divisions to crack down on illegal foreign workers.

Starting as early as October, agency officials will join land ministry inspections of demolition and construction sites.

The land ministry conducts regular patrols of demolition and construction sites. However, its construction-related officials do not have the authority to verify the identities of foreign nationals, even when they are suspected of working illegally.

To address this issue, the Immigration Services Agency will send immigration control officers to participate in these patrols, as these officers have the authority to ask foreign residents to show their residence cards, which they are required to carry under the immigration control and refugee recognition law.

The agency also plans to collaborate with the Environment Ministry, which oversees outdoor storage yards for waste plastics and scrap metal.
