America And The Philippines Plan The Launch Of Ambitious 4,000 Acre Economic Security Zone To Shore Up Supply Chains

In the latest development between the United States and the Philippines, the US Department of State announced that the two nations plan the launch of a historic economic security zone of four thousand hectares which will shore up supply chains and it will be located in the main island of Luzon.

  • Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg today announced the United States’ and the Philippines’ plans to establish a 4,000-acre industrial hub to secure inputs vital to American and global supply chains. The site is located in the Luzon Economic Corridor of the Philippines.  The site—the first of its kind—is being designated by the Philippines as an Economic Security Zone, a new model for AI-native investment acceleration hubs being developed under the Pax Silica Initiative.
  • The Economic Security Zone is part of a broader strategy to surge production for inputs vital to U.S. supply chains. It is expected to serve as a purpose-built platform for allied manufacturing—an investment acceleration hub where the specific industrial activities are shaped by market demand, host-country comparative advantages, and the evolving needs of the allied network. Situated within the Luzon Economic Corridor, the Zone can leverage the Philippines’ geographic centrality in the Indo-Pacific, its young and technically skilled workforce, and its deepening alliance with the United States.

Structure and Planned Governance

  • Joint governance: The two governments intend to identify appropriate frameworks for the long-term development of the Zone that facilitate sovereign alignment and shared upside as it scales.
  • Enhanced Operational Certainty: The Economic Security Zone is intended to fuse American expertise in institutions and legal regimes – internationally enforceable contracts, transparent regulatory standards, and expert dispute resolution – with enhanced access to the Philippines’ outstanding workforce and talent, mineral endowments, energy resources, and strategic position at the crossroads of Indo-Pacific trade.

The Philippines and Pax Silica

  • Infrastructure: The Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) is a coordinated, high-impact investment in key sectors, including in transportation, energy, digital infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.  The LEC will transform Luzon into a more prosperous and interconnected region while delivering value to American investors.

The Economic Security Zone

  • First of many: The Luzon hub is intended to be the first Zone in a broader industrial network—a constellation of integrated manufacturing sites, logistics corridors, and shared financial instruments spanning partner nations across multiple continents.
  • System transformation: This interconnection can transform Pax Silica industrial policy from a collection of bilateral projects into a genuine system capable of competing with—and ultimately displacing—the concentrated supply chains on which the world currently depends.

Israel-Lebanon Talks Mediated By America Off To A Good Start

Remember a short time ago when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for  direct talks with the Lebanese government for peace? In Washington, the envoys of Israel and Lebanon met in a historic summit mediated by the United States and things are off to a good start as both nations are looking forward to more talks in the near future, according to a news report by CBN News. Israel and Lebanon clearly want to work together to not only disarm the Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah (long supported by the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran) but also end its decades-long influence and harm of civilians.

A historic Washington summit between Israel and Lebanon ended with a look toward more talks in the future and a sense that the two countries want to work together to disarm Hezbollah and make peace. Meanwhile, President Trump indicated that there may soon be a new round of talks with Iran.

The Washington talks were mediated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The first round was held between Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter and Lebanon’s Washington Ambassador Nada Hamadeh Moawad.

Rubio suggested that the talks involve more than a ceasefire.

“This is about bringing a permanent end to twenty or thirty years of Hezbollah’s influence in this part of the world. And, not just damage inflicted on Israel, (but) the damage that is inflicted on Lebanon,” Rubio remarked. “We have to remember that the Lebanese people are victims of Hezbollah. The Lebanese people are victims of Iranian aggression. And this needs to stop.”

Ambassador Leiter contends that Israel and the Lebanese government are on the same side of the equation.

“We are both united in liberating Lebanon from an occupation power dominated by Iran called Hezbollah,” he said. “Lebanon is under their occupation, and we are suffering from their constant barrages of missiles and terror attacks trying to cross our border.”

Leiter told reporters that the most important issue they discussed was the vision for the future.

“The long-term vision, where there will be a clearly delineated border between our countries, and where the only reason we will need to cross each other’s territory will be in business suits to conduct business, or in bathing suits to go on vacation,” he noted.

Israel made it clear that the security of Israelis is not up for negotiation, and Leiter believes the Lebanese government understands that.

“This was a victory for sanity, for responsibility, and for peace, because the head of Hezbollah warned the government of Lebanon yesterday not to participate in these talks. And the government of Joseph Aoun bravely said no to Hezbollah,” Leiter observed. “And this is the beginning of a very strong and fortified, consistent battle against Hezbollah.”

Hezbollah made its own statement by opening a round of rocket fire on Israel as the talks began. In a rare move, three Hezbollah terrorists laid down their weapons and surrendered to Israeli troops.

In a joint statement issued by the State Department after the talks, the U.S. expressed support for “the government of Lebanon’s plans to restore the monopoly of force and to end Iran’s overbearing influence.”:

For its part, Beirut “underscores the principles of territorial integrity and full state sovereignty, while calling for a ceasefire and concrete measures to address and alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis that the country continues to endure as a result of the ongoing conflict.”

The two countries have been at war since 1948. Lebanon was once the only Christian-majority country in the Middle East, yet it was overrun, first by Palestinian terrorists in 1970-71, and then a decade later by the Iranian-backed Hezbollah.

Before the talks, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said there are no major disputes between Lebanon and Israel.

He explained, “The problem for Israel’s security is the problem for Lebanon’s sovereignty: it’s Hezbollah. It’s the same problem. And this problem needs to be addressed in order to move to a different phase (that) we want to reach, of peace and normalization with the state of Lebanon.”

In fact, The Ring sparked a wave of American remakes of established horror films from Asia. The movie also made Naomi Watts a movie star. There are viewers who enjoyed the subtle yet creepy approach to horror by the 2002 film and there are those who find it superior to the Japanese original. #2 Batman versus Predator Revisited – Back in the early 1990s, I saw issues of the huge crossover mini-series Batman versus Predator displayed on shelves on local comic book stores, and each one cost a lot of money! Believe it or not, the game still looks great by today’s standards and the vibrant colors and stylish visual elements made it stand out nicely among 3D shooters. Now that the blockade on Iranian ports has been done by the United States, President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the Islamic terrorist regime reached out to them wanting to make a deal “very badly”, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post. This happened not so long after the initial US-Iran negotiations failed and the Islamic regime has a history of lying and pretending when negotiating with America.

Iran called the United States, wanting “very badly” to make a deal, US President Donald Trump claimed to reporters at the White House on Monday.

Trump said he didn’t want to comment on what would happen if a deal wasn’t reached by the end of the ongoing ceasefire, but that “it won’t be pleasant for them, let me put it that way.“

Trump also said that Iran had refused to agree to having a nuclear weapon and that the US would get the nuclear material back.

“We can’t let a country blackmail or extort the world,” Trump said.

Vice President JD Vance had done a “very good job” on Iran, the president added.

Trump also threatened that the US might also visit Cuba after finishing with Iran.

Trump threatens Iranian ships in Strait of Hormuz – Trump warned that any Iranian vessels attempting to come close to the US’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will be “immediately ELIMINATED,” in a post to Truth Social on Monday.

“Iran’s Navy is laying at the bottom of the sea, completely obliterated – 158 ships,” Trump said.

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration of direct talks with the Lebanese government for potential peace, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that within a few days, there won’t be major fights remaining in Lebanon although it might have to engage in limited fighting with the leftover Hezbollah terrorists in specific parts of the country, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.

The IDF on Monday said that once it completes its operation against Hezbollah in Bint Jbil in southern Lebanon in the coming days, there will not be any remaining major fights for it to undertake in the area.

In addition, the IDF added that there were still several areas where it would continue to clear Hezbollah weapons that it had found during its invasion of southern Lebanon. Such clearing operations could continue for a longer, somewhat indefinite period.

Further, the IDF might still engage in limited fighting with leftover Hezbollah forces in parts of southern Lebanon who have not withdrawn north of the Litani River with most of Hezbollah’s other forces.

IDF will have no remaining strategic targets in southern Lebanon – However, broadly speaking, the IDF will have no remaining strategic targets in southern Lebanon, and for several days since the Iran ceasefire on Tuesday-Wednesday of last week, the military has refrained from attacks in Beirut and other more strategic areas for Hezbollah.

Even ongoing air force attacks are more focused now on preventing real-time rocket crew threats to Israel’s home front than they are on eliminating Hezbollah’s deeper capabilities, which had been a goal of the IDF when the Israel-Hezbollah conflict was still at its height.

Regarding the Bint Jbil battle, which has already lasted several days, the IDF has already broken into the heart of the village.

Division 98 caught Hezbollah’s dozens or more fighters there by surprise, surrounding them from all sides before they could find a way to retreat and escape.

The Givati Brigade, the Paratroopers Brigade, and multiple commando units, including Maglan, have been involved in the battles in and around Bint Jbil.

Since Division 98 entered the Bint Jbil area, the IDF said that it has successfully eliminated rocket fire on Israel from the area.

Given that some of the heaviest fire from Lebanon had been from Bint Jbil, this has also reduced Hezbollah’s ability to fire on northern Israel in broader strategic terms.

That said, Hezbollah still has significant volumes of rockets that can strike northern Israel from deeper parts of Lebanon beyond the Litani River.

The IDF admitted that despite a huge invasion of southern Lebanon for three months in the fall of 2024, it had failed to fully clear Bint Jbil of weapons at the time.

This current invasion of Bint Jbil is, in part, a corrective measure for that oversight. In addition to Division 98, Divisions 162, 146, 91, and 36 are operating in southern Lebanon.

Collectively, the IDF has killed around 1,400 Hezbollah fighters, around 100 in the Bint Jbil area.

As much of the world and the corrupted mainstream news media looked negatively at Israel in its conflict with the Hezbollah terrorist group, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the government will start a ceasefire and talk directly with Lebanon immediately for peace and the disarmament of the said terrorist group, according to a news report of The Jerusalem Post.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday announced that his cabinet would begin ceasefire and Hezbollah disarmament talks with Lebanon “as soon as possible,” in light of the current active warfront between the IDF and Hezbollah and the upcoming peace talks with Iran in Islamabad.

Netanyahu’s decision was motivated by “Lebanon’s repeated requests to open direct negotiations with Israel,” the prime minister said, adding that “negotiations will focus on disarming Hezbollah and establishing peaceful relations between Israel and Lebanon.”

This announcement came just minutes before Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets, triggering sirens in northern Israel.

In a video statement later on Thursday, Netanyahu reiterated these points, adding: “I have already brokered peace with Arab countries four times, and I intend to do it again.”

Hezbollah lawmaker Ali Fayyad said on Thursday that the group rejected direct negotiations with Israel and that the Lebanese government should demand a ceasefire as a precondition before any further steps are taken.

The negotiations, expected to begin on Tuesday, will be conducted between Israeli ambassador to the United States Yechiel Leiter and Lebanese ambassador to the United States Nada Hamadeh Moawad, Israeli sources told The Jerusalem Post.

Michel Issa, the US ambassador to Lebanon, is expected to mediate the talks, sources said.

Israeli sources stated that there is currently no ceasefire and that Israeli forces will remain on the ground in Lebanon in the immediate future to act against any threat from Hezbollah.

An hour before Netanyahu’s statement, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said he was pursuing a diplomatic track on this matter that was beginning to be seen “positively” by international actors, according to Reuters.

A senior Lebanese official also told Reuters that Lebanon had spent the last day pushing for a temporary ceasefire to allow for broader talks with Israel, describing the effort as a “separate track but the same model” as the US-Iran truce.

Israel Eliminates Lebanese Resistance Brigade Commander And Also Hezbollah Chief’s Secretary

As the fragile two-week ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran hangs on, Israel struck the terrorists in Lebanon successfully eliminating the commander of the Lebanese Resistance Brigade as well as the secretary of the chief of terrorist group Hezbollah, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post.

The IDF said Thursday killed Maher Qassem Hamdan, the Commander of the Lebanese Resistance Brigades terrorist organization in the Chebaa area in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, in addition to seven others fleeing the area.

Hamdan was responsible for terrorist recruitment, weapons supply, and funding the Lebanese Resistance Brigades in Chebaa, according to the IDF, which added that the organization is funded by the Hezbollah terror organization and is connected to it directly.

The IDF also said Thursday that it killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, a close aide to Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem, in a strike in Beirut on Wednesday, as part of a broader wave of attacks on Hezbollah infrastructure across Lebanon.

Harshi was Qassem’s personal secretary and nephew, who also served as a senior advisor and played a central role in managing and securing the Hezbollah leader’s office.

The IDF added that overnight strikes targeted two key crossings used by Hezbollah operatives to move between areas north and south of the Litani River and transfer weapons. Around 10 weapons storage sites, launchers, and command centers in southern Lebanon were struck as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the group’s military capabilities, the IDF said.

Separately, IDF troops from the 401st Brigade located a shaft leading to a subterranean site from which a terrorist emerged and was killed in close-quarters combat earlier this week. Inside, troops discovered a cache of weapons, including explosives, rockets, RPG launchers, grenades, and additional equipment, according to the military.

Moreover, the IDF said later Thursday that it carried out a strike in the Sidon area, killing Maher Qassem Hamdan, commander of the Lebanese Brigades in the Shebaa region, along with eight additional operatives who were attempting to flee the area.

Meanwhile, troops from the 215th Fire Brigade killed in recent days over 70 Hezbollah terrorists, including a cell preparing mortar fire against Israeli forces, the IDF said.

Earlier on Thursday, the IDF published footage of Paratroopers Brigade troops operating under the 98th Division during ground operations in southern Lebanon over the past week, targeting dozens of Hezbollah operatives and uncovering hidden weapons.

The military said troops moved into additional areas as part of efforts to establish operational control and reinforce Israel’s forward defensive line along the northern border. The operations were aimed at removing threats to Israeli civilians in the north while degrading Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the area, according to the military.

Mainland China and South Korea continue to be the two largest source markets for tourists to Vietnam, accounting for approximately 40% of the total international visitors.

Southeast Asian markets recorded strong growth, including Malaysia (up 21.5%), Singapore (30%), Cambodia (41%), Indonesia (44%), the Philippines (69%), and Thailand (6.5%).

Vietnam has set a target of receiving 25 million international tourists this year.

Not so long after the Philippines met with and made agreements with the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran (click here and here), another Filipina worker died in Israel as a result of an Iranian missile attack, according to the official statement of the Israeli Embassy in the Philippines and the news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The Embassy of the State of Israel in the Philippines expresses its deepest condolences following the tragic loss of four members of a family, including a young Filipino woman who chose to build her life with her husband in Israel, in an Iranian missile strike on Haifa on the evening of April 5, 2026.

The victims were Vladimir Gershovich, 73; his wife, Lena Ostrovsky, 68; their only son, Dmitry (Dima) Gershovich, 42; and his wife, Lucille Jane Gershovich, a 29-year-old Filipino citizen. Dima and Lucille were married in April 2024.

Two generations of one family were killed in this attack, another stark reminder that the Iranian regime continues to target civilians indiscriminately.

Israel stands in profound solidarity with the bereaved family and the Filipino community, and shares in the grief over the loss of a Filipino life. We mourn together and honor their memory with dignity.

Lucille’s family has asked that their privacy be respected as they observe this period of mourning. May their souls rest in peace.

A Filipino was killed in a missile attack in Israel on April 5 as conflict in the Middle East continues, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Tuesday.

The Filipina died alongside her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law inside a residence in Haifa on Sunday evening.

The DFA did not provide further details and identification but said the victim’s next of kin had been informed and that the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv is providing assistance.

“The family requests privacy at this difficult time to grieve in peace. We join the Filipino community in praying for her eternal rest and for strength for her family during this time of profound loss,” it said.

The DFA said the embassy is arranging for the earliest possible repatriation of her remains despite the current travel situation in the region.

This is the second Filipino national killed in a missile attack in Israel since it mounted a joint military operation with the United States targeting the nuclear sites and leadership of Iran, prompting retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

Defense Minister Israel Katz and the IDF announced on Monday that the Israel Air Force assassinated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’s Intelligence Organization chief, Majid Khademi.

The IRGC also corroborated the announcement, stating that Khademi was “martyred.”

Until Monday’s announcement, Khademi had been considered one of the three most senior surviving officials in the IRGC.

Many top IRGC and Iranian Intelligence Ministry officials were assassinated by the IDF on February 28, and some in the weeks since then, but Khademi had managed to evade Israeli attacks.

Separately, the IDF said on Monday morning that it had conducted a round of strikes on Iranian regime targets in Tehran.

Khademi’s death reduces Iran’s global terror capability, IDF states – The IDF has said that Khademi’s death and other attacks on Iran’s global terror Unit 840, part of the IRGC’s Quds Force, would reduce the regime’s ability to project terror globally, as well as reduce its ability to suppress Iranian protesters, should they return to the streets in the future.

Khademi served as IRGC intelligence chief since June 2025, when his predecessor was killed in Israeli strikes as part of Operation Rising Lion.
