Together with Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what TIME Magazine dubbed a JESUS REVOLUTION.

While I have not seen Jesus Revolution in the local cinemas, I myself am interested in buying the Blu-ray disc soon. I am a person with unbreakable faith in Jesus who is truly the Lord and Savior! More on the what the movie has to offer, its release is timely as America has been so divided as many people moved away from the Lord to embrace evil elements such as critical race theory, homosexuality, LGBTQ culture, transgender concepts, abortion, anti-police movements, anti-Semitism, terrorism, illegal immigration, witchcraft, Communist/socialist/Marxist ideologies, negative elements affecting churches, vandalism of places of worship, Satanic values inserted through entertainment media, and a whole lot more. Watch the related CBN News videos below…

By today’s standards, the social unrest America had during the Vietnam War era looks smaller compared to what has been going on over the past few years. People are getting divided over race, gender, social class and a whole lot more. As such, Jesus Revolution has something that viewers can reflect about.

More importantly, all these matters should remind you all that you must seek Lord Jesus first, behold His light shining through the darkness, and come to Him wholeheartedly to repent and submit to Him to accept Him as your Lord and Savior. With unbreakable faith in the Lord, you can become a part of His fearless and aggressive church.

When it comes to restoring people and societies from the damage caused by evil forces, only the Lord can provide restoration and healing. That being said, you must praise the Lord and have unwavering faith in Him no matter what happens. Being a worldly person means living with unholy elements. A lot of people may not realize it but it is clear they need Jesus in their lives and in their societies! Learn from the holy scriptures below…

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (NASB)

Jesus once again addressed them: “I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”

John 8:12 (MSG)

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

John 3:3 (NKJV)

Chinese national shouts at police officers in Parañaque City, pokes replica gun at them and gets arrested

Recently in Parañaque City, police officers arrested a Chinese national who shouted at them and poked a replica gun at them, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The incident happened at a police checkpoint in Barangay Tambo and the suspect drove a Volkswagen.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A Chinese man was arrested for brandishing his gun at policemen who were manning a checkpoint in Parañaque City on Tuesday, May 9.

Col. Renato Ocampo, city police chief, identified the suspect as Hao Lu, 28.

Based on the report submitted by Ocampo to the Southern Police District, Lu was arrested at around 1:40 a.m. along Bradco Avenue, Barangay Tambo.

Ocampo said members of the Tambo police Sub-Station were manning a checkpoint when they flagged down a white Volkswagen Sedan with plate number NCJ-4472 being driven by the suspect for security check.

He said the suspect shouted at the policemen and poked his .45 caliber pistol at them.

The city police chief said that during verification, the policemen found out that the gun was only a replica of a .45 caliber pistol.

Ocampo said the suspect also failed to show his driver’s license and documents to prove that he was the owner of the vehicle.

He said the replica gun was confiscated and the vehicle was impounded.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a Parañaque City resident, are you concerned that there could be Chinese nationals living in your local community and might be contributing to the local crime incidents?

COVID-19 Crisis: OCTA says Metro Manila positivity rate may peak by next week

As the number of new cases of COVID-19 infection continues to rise here in the Philippines, OCTA Research announced that the positivity rate in Metro Manila may peak next week, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news article. Some parts in boldface…

The Covid-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila may peak next week, but the 25 percent initial projection will not be reached, said OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David on Tuesday, May 9.

David noted that only a “slight” increase in the current Covid-19 positivity rate was observed in Metro Manila, which could indicate that the “increasing trend is slowing down.”

“Metro Manila’s seven-day positivity rate increased slightly to 22.9 percent as of May 7, 2023. It was at 17.8 percent on April 30,” David said.

The increasing trend is slowing down, and the peak could happen within the next week or so. The positivity rate could also miss the 25 percent mark,” he pointed out.

On May 8, David said that the increasing Covid-19 cases, driven by the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16, may begin to decline “hopefully by late May or June.”

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.

The benchmark for the positivity rate set by the World Health Organization is 5 percent.

The Department of Health on Monday reported 1,545 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 677 cases were recorded in Metro Manila.

He said the country’s current positivity rate was down to 18.8 percent on May 8, from 19.9 percent on May 7.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Did the recent increase of COVID-19 infection impact your living or your livelihood? Have been wearing a face mask more often over the past two weeks? Were you approached by members of the anti-vaccine community recently?

You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

Sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashes into convenience store in Parañaque City

Recently in Parañaque City, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a convenience store within Barangay Moonwalk, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. Quite notably, the said vehicle was allegedly driven by a minor.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A sports utility vehicle allegedly being driven by a 15-year-old boy crashed and landed inside a convenience store in Parañaque City on May 6.

According to a police report, a certain Mr. Esplana was traversing along Armstrong Avenue in Barangay Moonwalk, Parañaque City and was about to park in front of the 7-11 convenience store.

Esplana reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crashed the facade of the convenience store, and ended up inside.

Reports showed that Barangay Moonwalk personnel immediately responded to the scene and brought the injured Esplana to the Parañaque Doctor’s Hospital for treatment.

The store manager identified as a certain Mr. Lacorte also suffered an injury and was brought to the E. Zarate Hospital for treatment.

Police said due to the accident, assorted merchandise, the aluminum glass door and walls, and store racks were damaged.

For added insight, posted below is a related YouTube video from GMA Integrated news.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a Parañaque City resident, do you still remember how many vehicles crashed into convenience stores?

A Look Back at Web of Spider-Man #90 (1992)

Disclaimer: This is my original work with details sourced from reading the comic book and doing personal research. Anyone who wants to use this article, in part or in whole, needs to secure first my permission and agree to cite me as the source and author. Let it be known that any unauthorized use of this article will constrain the author to pursue the remedies under R.A. No. 8293, the Revised Penal Code, and/or all applicable legal actions under the laws of the Philippines.

Welcome back superhero enthusiasts, 1990s culture enthusiasts and comic book collectors! Today we go back to the year 1992 and explore a part of what was back then the 30th anniversary celebration of Spider-Man

In what was back then a unique approaching to celebrating the anniversary of an American icon, Marvel Comics published not one but four specific Spider-Man comic books that had holographic covers and more pages than the usual. Each of those special comic books were from a different Spider-Man monthly series. Back in 2020, I published a retro review of one of those gimmick cover comic books from the Spider-Man monthly series.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at Web of Spider-Man #90, published in 1992 by Marvel Comics with a story by Howard Mackie and drawn by Alex Saviuk.

The cover.

Early story

The story begins inside an office in Los Angeles. A hat-wearing businessman has several varied figures of Spider-Man near him and recalls the time when the iconic hero participated in one of his events as the Masked Marvel. Moments later, the businessman’s wife arrives and together they departed in a limousine.

At the South Bronx in New York, Spider-Man chases a speeding car with one of its passengers firing a gun at him. Suddenly, his spider sense bothers him a lot and when he looks around, he suddenly sees Galactus standing with members of the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four lying down helpless on the ground…

Quality

Spider-Man on the set of an entertainment project. It’s a lively reminder about how sickening Hollywood (AKA Commiewood) can get.

To make things clear and without spoiling the plot, this story deals with illusions and the distortion of reality. Quite ironically, the said distortion made it a challenge to follow the narrative and I can say that a good amount of the spotlight was on the businessman. Spider-Man is clearly the protagonist here but it made sense for the creative team to focus a bit on the businessman (who has been doing entertainment showcases for a long time) to justify the core concept about the conflicts between what is real and what is imaginary.

In relation to the illusion aspect of the story, you will get to see established Spider-Man arch-villains such as the Green Goblin, the Hobgoblin and Venom taking on the superhero himself. As the creative team focused more on providing a great amount of spectacle, there clearly was no room left for character development on Spider-Man. Don’t expect to see Peter Parker in dramatic moments nor see him interact with the established supporting characters.

If there is any moral lesson to learn from this comic book, it would be this – living with a powerful delusion (the result of personal obsession mixed with the personal failure to separate illusion from reality) can lead you to the wrong directions in life.

Conclusion

To justify the 30th anniversary celebration, distorted flashbacks into Peter Parker’s past were presented here.

Web of Spider-Man #90 (1992) does not have much depth for those who seek engaging storytelling. That being said, the story itself is not memorable nor would it leave a long lasting impact on you. This comic book was made to entertain readers with lots of action and wild fantasy images that eerily justify its concept about illusion and reality conflicting each other. In fairness to the creative team, the said conflict was consistently visualized and there were some dialogue that related to it in a somewhat philosophical manner. The comic book’s entertainment value is satisfying enough although it does not justify the holographic cover that was part of the gimmick with celebrating Spider-Man’s 30th anniversary. As for who was the main antagonist of the comic book, I simply encourage you all to read and find out for yourselves.

Overall, Web of Spider-Man #90 (1992) is satisfactory.

Recently in Parañaque City, local law enforcers rescued over forty foreign women who were illegally detained by seven foreign individuals, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The suspects have since been charged for illegal detention as well as anti-trafficking.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

Operatives of the Southern Police District (SPD) successfully rescued 43 Indonesian and Malaysian women who were illegally detained by seven suspects on Saturday, May 6, in Parañaque City.

According to SPD Director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft, among the rescued women, 40 were Indonesian and three were Malaysian.

Kraft said members of the District Special Operations Unit, Parañaque police substation 2 conducted the rescue operation after an official from the Protocol and Consular Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia coordinated with the police.

He said the rescued victims were immediately brought to the SPD District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) for documentation.

Chinese national arrested in Parañaque City for swindling

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a Chinese national swindled a fellow citizen of millions of Pesos and caused trouble inside a hotel (which has a casino) which eventually led to her arrest, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A Chinese woman was arrested allegedly for swindling a compatriot of P2,300,000 inside a hotel and casino on Monday, May 1,  in Parañaque City.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect, identified as Chen Yu alias Cheng Ye, 30, was arrested at around 5:10 a.m. in Okada Manila in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

According to the police report, the suspect asked the victim, Zhao Zhimin, 27, to give her cash amounting to P2,300,000 in exchange for 290,000 RMB via online payment.

The suspect, after getting the money, allegedly refused to pay the victim and caused trouble by shouting at Zhimin.

The alerted security guard brought the victim and the suspect to the Parañaque City police Tambo substation for creating trouble inside the hotel and casino.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Parañaque City, what is your reaction to this recent development? Are you disturbed by the presence of Chinese nationals and the potential trouble they could cause in your city?

Nuclear Philippines effort moves forward some more

The potential future of the Philippines adapting nuclear power that will generate clean and abundant energy for the needs of the people and businesses moved a few more steps forward thanks to two key meetings involving the group of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., and notable energy firms, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). This is the latest in the Marcos administration’s effort to adapt nuclear power for the Philippines (click here and here).

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the PNA news article. Some parts in boldface…

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is considering using a “cutting-edge” micro nuclear fuel technology to address the country’s power woes, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Marcos met with officials of US-based Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC), a vertical integrator of nuclear technologies and services in Washington.

In a news release, the Presidential Communications Office said the Marcos administration has made it a top priority to ensure an unhampered supply of energy alongside the promotion and utilization of renewable energy sources.

Francesco Venneri, CEO of Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation, expressed interest to bringing clean and reliable nuclear energy to the Philippines, which the firm is seriously considering for its first nuclear energy facility in Southeast Asia. Venneri also vowed to help address the series of blackouts that hit several areas of the country.

The Marcos administration earlier swiftly acted on the power crisis in the provinces with the operation of at least three more power stations to provide 24-hour electricity power service.

“We also note that there’s a great deal of discussion about Mindoro having blackouts and that might be an excellent….a good science [solution],” said Venneri.

The micro modular reactor (MMR) energy system is a fourth-generation nuclear energy system that seeks to deliver safe, clean and cost-effective electricity to users, according to USNC officials.

The MMR is being licensed in Canada and the US and considered the first “fission battery” in commercialization.

The company anticipates eventual heavy demand for its MMRs and its nuclear fuel and envisions the Philippines as its nuclear hub in the region.

Earlier, Oregon-based NuScale Power Corporation expressed interest to invest in the Philippines after a meeting with Marcos in Washington.

The PCO said that NuScale, which is known for developing a safe modular, and scalable small nuclear power system, is expected to invest USD6.5 billion to USD7.5 billion (PHP415.5 billion) to provide 462 megawatts to the country by the early 2030s.

It is clear President Marcos is seriously working to solve the nation’s fragile power supply with a focus on nuclear power and related technologies as potential solutions. Compared to nuclear power, solar and wind power are both unreliable. Those two forms of clean energy – which are the favorites of climate change zealots and Leftists – cannot generate the abundant energy that nuclear power could provide.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Do you think that nuclear power in the Philippines will be realized in your lifetime? Do you think it will happen during the term of President Marcos?

You may answer in the comments below. If you prefer to answer privately, you may do so by sending me a direct message online.

Triathlon gold-silver-bronze for the Philippines at the 32nd SEA Games

Welcome back my readers and sports fans! The much-awaited triathlon events for men and women at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (also referred to as SEA Games and Cambodia 2023) have happened and the result for the Philippines was mixed.

Firstly, Fer Casares successfully won the gold medal again for the Philippines in the Men’s Individual Triathlon which establishes him as still the reigning king of triathlon in Southeast Asia. The official results showed that Casares completed the 750 Meter swim – 20 Kilometer bike – 5 Km run contest in 58 minutes and 32 seconds (58:32) and he was just 13 seconds ahead of silver medalist Rashif Amilya Yaqin of Indonesia. Technically Casares swam in 10:38, had 23 seconds in Transition 1, biked for 29:48, had 24 seconds in Transition 2 and ran for 17:19. Comparing his performance with the silver medalist, Casares came from behind to win the gold.

From the social media post of the Philippine Sports Commission.
Cebu-based Andrew Kim Remolino won the Men’s Triathlon bronze in addition to the silver he won for the nation in the Men’s Aquathlon.

Meanwhile, Casares’ Cebu-based teammate Andrew Kim Remolino (the aquathlon silver medalist) secured the bronze medal for the nation timing 59:53.

In the Women’s Individual Triathlon, Kim Mangrobang finished with the silver medal as Cambodia’s naturalized French-born Margot Garabedian took the gold (note: she also won gold in the Women’s Aquathlon). Mangrobang finished the race in 1:07:21 (11:28 in the swim, 34 seconds in Transition 1, 34:47 in the bike, 28 seconds in Transition 2 and 20:04 in the run) while Garabedian 1:05:31. The bronze medal went to Singapore’s Louisa Marie Middleditch who was just seconds behind Mangrobang at 1:07:28. while Cebu-based Raven Faith Alcoseba finished at 4th place with 1:08:46. Very noticeable was Garabedian’s teammate Toch Raksa finishing only at 10th place with 1:30:54.

Kim Mangrobang won the Women’s Triathlon silver medal and the gold medal in the Women’s Duathlon.

The issue about the naturalization of foreign athletes as Cambodians is already attracting a lot of attention. Take note that there were other naturalized Cambodians who took part in the SEA Games (read about them here and here). It should be noted that the host nation bent the rules of the naturalization process. Following the end of the SEA Games this year, citizenship could become a hot topic of debate on sports competitions at least in Southeast Asia.

While Mangrobang was denied of the gold this time around, her achievement of winning back-to-back SEA Games women’s triathlon (2017, 2019 and 2021) remains historic and has yet to be surpassed. She is also still Southeast Asia’s reigning duathlon queen and Cambodia itself did not do well in the SEA Games women’s duathlon event as well as in the men’s aquathlon event as the official race results showed. It took a female competitor who was born in France to help Cambodia win the gold in triathlon and aquathlon just as they hosted the SEA Games for the first time ever. Remember that, my readers.

If there is anything else significant about the 32nd SEA Games, it is the fact that medal events of aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon got organized for the first time in Southeast Asia’s multisport history. The Philippines is part of it and its medal victories cannot be ignored.

For the record, the Philippines won the gold medals in Men’s Triathlon, Women’s Duathlon and the Mixed Aquathlon 4X Team Relay. Also secured were the silver medals in the Men’s Aquathlon and Women’s Triathlon, and the bronze in Men’s Triathlon. These are achievements that Filipinos can be thankful to the Lord for. Indeed, Southeast Asian sports competition has gotten tougher but the Philippines remains a multisport powerhouse in the region and for sure adjustments and further refinements will follow for future overseas competitions. The next SEA Games will be hosted by Thailand.

Let me end this post with the bible verse below…

I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.

Philippians 4:12-13 (TPT)

Muntinlupa City Government congratulates local resident for winning the nation’s first gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games

Recently the City Government of Muntinlupa congratulated a local resident who won for the Philippines its first gold medal of the ongoing 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Cambodia, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The name of the local resident is Kaila Napolis and she won the gold in the women’s jiu-jitsu event.

The image that the City Government posted on its Facebook page.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

The Muntinlupa City government congratulated Jenna Kaila Napolis for winning the Philippines’ first gold medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Cambodia.

Napolis, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa, won the gold in the Jiu Jitsu Women’s Newaza Gi – 52kg event by defeating Cambodia’s Jessa Khan on May 4.

“Ang Jiu jitsu athlete ay isang Muntinlupeño, mula sa Brgy. Poblacion. Muli, Congratulations Kaila! (The Jiu jitsu athlete is a Muntinlupeño from Brgy. Poblacion. Again, Congratulations Kaila!),” the city government posted on Facebook.

In a Facebook post, Napolis said, “4 matches to Seagames Gold.”

My faith as small as a mustard seed got me through here. I’m so happy I was able to conquer my fear of competing against one of the best in the world,” she added.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Muntinlupa City resident, what is your reaction to this development? Are you delighted about what Napolis achieved for the nation in the ongoing SEA Games in Cambodia? Do you think the City Government should reward locals who won medals at the SEA Games?
