Forza Motorsport (2005) revisited – The first time I ever played first-ever Forza Motorsport video game was on a rented original Xbox console in 2005. Right from the start, I was very impressed with how realistic yet accessible the game played even as it was designed by Turn 10 as a simulation. Years later, I played the succeeding Forza Motorsport games and became a fan of the series on Xbox consoles. It was delightful for me to watch the Forza Motorsport retrospective video by YouTuber Camp Xbox which you can view below.

#2 You, Me and the Movies react to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movies of 1990 and 1991 – Here in the Philippines, I saw the films Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze in local cinemas in 1990 and 1991 respectively. Each viewing experience was in a fully packed cinema which was not surprising because the TMNT franchise – specifically the animated series on TV – was already very popular among Filipinos and there was excitement to see the live-action versions of the popular turtles, Splinter, Shredder and April O’Neil. That being said, you should see You, Me and the Movies’ reaction videos of the two films.

Israeli Air Force flies over the funeral of Hezbollah’s late leader – Several months after the successful elimination of Hezbollah leader and terrorist Nasrallah, a funeral for him was held in Lebanon and there were officials from terrorist state Iran who attended. And then something happened…fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force flew over the funeral and literally took the thunder away. The terrorist group of Hezbollah got very humiliated. In-depth look back at the “DCEU” movies – Remember the DC superhero movies of the so-called DCEU (DC Extended Universe)? This year, Warner Bros., DC and director James Gunn will release an all-new Superman movie and now is a good time to look back at the previous franchise of DC superhero movies released from 2013 to 2023, and I found a very comprehensive video from YouTuber FilmyHead for you to watch.

PatmanQC examines Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters – I never got to play the late-1980s game Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters in the arcade nor any of its ports. Being curious, I took time out to watch PatmanQC’s video about the game. It turns out, the game itself is an inspired piece of work and it was made by Atari. I urge you to watch the video below.

Popcorn in Bed reacts to Starship Troopers – When it was first released in 1997, a lot of movie critics and moviegoers did not fully understand the themes and meaning of Starship Troopers. While many viewed it as a big-budget, loud and action-packed sci-fi flick, there was a minority of people who realized director Paul Verhoeven’s (RoboCop, Total Recall) use of irony within the narrative. Months ago, Popcorn in Bed posted her reaction video and you should see how the film affects her.

Ashleigh Burton reacts to The Thomas Crown Affair – Remember watching The Thomas Crown Affair in 1999? Some people perceived it as a clever remake of the 1968 original while there were others who found it to be Pierce Brosnan’s most notable non-James Bond role of the 1990s. Recently, Ashleigh Burton saw the film and you must watch her reaction video below.

PAOCC files cases against many foreign nationals involved in Parañaque City scam hub

In relation with the big raid on an office build in Parañaque City that resulted in the apprehension of hundreds of suspects, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) announced that it has filed charges against several foreign nationals who were among the many suspects arrested, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the PNA news article. Some parts in boldface…

Charges of qualified human trafficking were filed by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) against 20 foreign nationals apprehended in the Feb. 20 raid of a scam hub in Parañaque City.

PAOCC Executive Director Gilbert Cruz said the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub at the ATI building, in front of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), ran investment and love scams using foreign nationals.

A total of 435 POGO workers, including 148 foreign nationals, were arrested at the Chinese-run hub.

“We conducted the inquest for the foreign nationals operating the POGO hub here at PITX and we have filed charges against 20 of them,” Cruz said in an interview.

“Qualified trafficking, because you can clearly see that they facilitated the employment of individuals in this POGO hub to work here for a long time.”

Cruz said the scam hub also had several other violations, including the lack of the necessary permits to operate.

Among the complainants were three Vietnamese women.

“These Vietnamese women were the models they used to attract investors and then after you fall in love, that’s it, they will invite you to invest in cryptocurrency,” Cruz said.

2025 National Age Group Aquathlon and National Age Group Duathlon highlights at Vermosa Sports Hub

Welcome back, multisports athletes and sports enthusiasts! The highlights of the 2025 National Age Group Aquathlon and 2025 National Age Group Duathlon held this past weekend at the Vermosa Sports Hub are revealed below.

Alaina Bouffaut displayed her best form to dominate the girls Under-15 category in the National Age Group Aquathlon and Duathlon at the Ayala-Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite.

The 12-year-old Filipino-French finished the 400m swim-2.5km run aquathlon competition in 18 minutes and 17 seconds to beat Christy Ann Perez (18:35) and Naomi Rozeboom (18:45) last Saturday.

On Sunday, she claimed victory in duathlon (3km run-10km bike-1.5km run) with a time of 41:48, prevailing over Kaia Christiana Gica (42:32) and Naomi Rozeboom (42:44).

“I feel good,” said Bouffaut, whose mother is from Cagayan Valley.

“It’s nice to win, this is my first time competing in the U15 category,” added the Grade 7 student who dominated the 11-12 category for two years.

Bouffaut’s schoolmate, Johan Joey Marcelo won the gold medal in duathlon with a time of 35:30.

“I felt that I’m going to get a podium, but not the gold,” said the 14-year-old Marcelo, a member of Sante Barley Nextstep Tri Team.

“I was not feeling well since Wednesday, I just took a rest. I’m happy that I won,” added Marcelo, who bagged a silver medal in the Ironkids Subic and a bronze in Ironkids Duathlon in Davao last year.

Meanwhile, Ruan Azriel Santos and Jan Christel Culanag also pocketed two gold medals in the 6 and under category of the tournament which is part of Triathlon Philippines’ grassroots and talent identification program.

Santos (4:31) beat Ivo Gadiel Kanlas (4:49) in aquathlon (50m swim-200m run). He clocked 14:01 in duathlon (400m run-1km bike-200m run).

Culanag (4:49) beat Rafaela Tifany Marie Culala (12:12) in aquathlon and clocked 14:01 to win the gold medal in duathlon over Lucia Ysabel Sarmenta (20:02) in the girls division.

Other Super Tri Kids duathlon winners were Thomas Miguel Edangal and Naomi Dimayuga in the 11-12 category (2km-8km-1km); Enrique Jose Dela Rosa and Pia Gienne Meiko Gito in the 9-10 category (1km-6km-500m); and Zavier Caeden Prequenza and Stacey Ailia Aisha Escala in the 7-8 category (800m-2km-400m).

Other champions in aquathlon were Pele Matteo Latonio and Elise Salas in the 11-12 category (300m-1.5km); Jairus Achilles Bongotan and Athena Masadao in the 9-10 category (200m-1km); and Eli Julian Dela Cruz and Stacey Ailia Aisha Escala in the 7-8 category (100m-500m).

In the sprint elite category in duathlon (5km-20km-2.5km), Franklin Yee and Merry Joy Trupa ruled their respective divisions.

Yee won the gold medal in 57:13 over Irienold Reig Jr. (57:16) and Patrick Ciron (57:26) in the men’s division.

Trupa clocked 1:05:41 to beat Katrina Salazar (1:05:56) and Rachel Sarah Wei Ying (1:06:57) in the women’s division.

The National Age Group Aquathlon and Duathlon tournaments were supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Milo, Asian Centre for Insulation, Gatorade, Fitbar and RaceYa.

John Alexander Ramos and Erika Nicole Burgos won their respective Elite titles during the 2025 National Age Group Aquathlon event yesterday at the Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite, according to a sports news article published by the Philippine New Agency (PNA).

Joshua Alexander Ramos delivered a fine performance to claim victory in the Standard Men Elite of the National Age Group Aquathlon 2025 at the Ayala-Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus, Cavite on Saturday.

The 23-year-old member of the Baguio Benguet Triathlon club clocked 31 minutes and 19 seconds in the 1km-swim and 5km-run competition.

“I joined this tournament to test my fitness and I’m glad I won,” said Ramos, a second-year marketing management student at the University of Baguio.

Last year, he was runner-up to Cebuano Kim Andrew Remolino in the race that only covered 500 meters (swim) and 2.5 km. (run).

Remolino and Matthew Hermosa did not join due to a Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) regional qualifying.

“Even if they are not here, I can say that I gave my best,” said Ramos, who won four medals in swimming – two golds (400m and 1500 freestyle), one silver (4x200m freestyle), and one bronze (4×100 freestyle) at the 2024 PRISAA National Games in Legazpi City, Albay.

Iñaki Emil Lorbes registered 31:28 to finish second despite nursing a right ankle injury he sustained two weeks ago in training. Irienold Reig Jr. (32:12) was third.

Meanwhile, Erika Nicole Burgos defended the women’s title, clocking 34 minutes and 17 seconds to prevail over Wan Ting of Singapore (35:01) and Lady Samantha Jhunace Corpuz (35:50).

“The course is difficult, it’s exhausting,” said Burgos of Tanauan, Batangas.

She will join the National Age Group Duathlon on Sunday.

“I’ll do my best to win (in the National),” said Burgos, who won the gold medal in the 2023 Asian Duathlon Championships at the New Clark City Sports Complex.

In the Junior Elite category, Joshua’s younger brother, Dayshaun Karl, topped the men’s division in 16:37. Darell Johnson Bada (16:40) ranked second followed by Peter Sancho Del Rosario (16:44).

Dhana Victoria Seda-Lomboy clocked 18:45 to win the women’s title over Maria Celinda Raagas (21:42).

Edison Badillo (PTS2), Raul Angoluan (PTS3), Alex Silverio (PTS4), and Joshua Nelmida with guide Bernard Matthew Cruz (PTVI) won their respective divisions in the para category of the event organized by the Triathlon Philippines (TriPhil) headed by Tom Carrasco.

The 2025 National Age Group Aquathlon event in Vermosa was sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, Milo, Asian Center for Insulation, Gatorade, Fitbar, and RaceYa.

Recently in the City of Parañaque, local police officers armed with a warrant arrested a delivery rider over the charge of rape against him, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. For some time now, the suspect was one of the most wanted persons by the local police station.

A delivery rider was arrested for rape by members of the Parañaque City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) during a manhunt operation against wanted criminals on Feb. 13.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as alias “Patrick,” 21, and tagged as Top 6 most wanted person under the station level. He was arrested on Fourth Estate, Parañaque City.

Patrick was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Moises Domingo De Castro of the Parañaque City Family Court Branch 10 on Feb. 6.

Recently in the City of Muntinlupa, local police officers arrested an e-bike (electric bike) driver after he was caught selling an illegal firearm, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The suspect is a resident of Parañaque City.

A 32-year-old e-bike driver was arrested by the police after he was caught selling an illegal firearm in Muntinlupa on Feb. 20.

Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena, district director of the Southern Police District (SPD), identified the suspect as alias Paul, a resident of Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque, who was arrested in a police buy-bust operation on Biazon Road in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa at about 1:55 a.m.

The operation was carried out by the District Special Operations Unit of the Southern Police District (SPD) in cooperation with the District Intelligence Division, Intelligence Section, District Mobile Force Battalion, and Muntinlupa Police.

Seized from the suspect were a .45-caliber pistol, a .45-caliber magazine loaded with three live rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade, a genuine P1,000 bill used as marked money, a cell phone, and a sling bag. The arrested suspect is now under police custody for investigation.

More investors expected in relation to newly signed CREATE MORE IRR

In connection with the recent signing of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act, a director of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) expects more investors to come in, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso Panga is expecting more investors to put up their businesses in economic zones across the country following the signing of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy (CREATE MORE) Act.

Panga said the IRR provides clarity for the smooth implementation of the law.

“It is a product of conjoined efforts that will surely attract more interest in the Philippines and paves the way for future investment growth,” Panga said in a statement Wednesday.

On Feb. 17, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto and Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque led the signing of the CREATE MORE’s IRR.

The IRR supports PEZA’s mandate of driving investment growth into the country, promote sustainable development in the countryside, and create more jobs.

“The CREATE MORE Act refines the investment landscape of the Philippines to be at parity with other countries,” he said.

“With these new policies in place, coupled with the positive attributes already presented by our country and the various advantages like a communications-ready skilled workforce, a conducive business environment and a whole-of-government approach, it is without doubt that new investors will come in and old investors will choose to stay for the long haul,” he added.

Recently in the City of Parañaque, elements of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) arrested two Chinese nationals and rescued a kidnap victim (also Chinese) who was tortured during captivity, according to a GMA Network news report.

A Chinese national was rescued after he was kidnapped and tortured in a condominium in Parañaque City on Thursday evening, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) said.

Authorities responded when they received a video from a confidential informant showing the victim being subjected to torture, according to a reported of GMA Integrated News’ Jhomer Apresto on “Unang Balita.” The victim was covered in bruises and sustained bone fractures.

“Nakuha namin yung information na nandito siya sa 1902. Then, nung kinatok nga namin, positibo, nandito ang biktima. At sinabi niya na nagtatago yung dalawang suspect doon sa mga kwarto,” PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio said.

(We got the information that he was here in 1902. Then, when we knocked, it was positive, the victim was indeed here. He said the two suspects were hiding in the rooms.)

Two Chinese suspects were arrested including the person who was holding a gun in the video. Recovered from the area were bladed weapons and rods.

According to PAOCC, the suspects were possibly involved in an illegal Philippine offshore gaming operator and part of a huge group.

“Talamak na kasi yung kidnapan dito sa area ng southern Metro Manila ng mga Chinese nationals. Kung anuman ang kadahilanan, minsan pinapatubos, minsan may mga pagkakautang,” Casio said.

(The kidnapping of Chinese nationals in the area of southern Metro Manila is very serious. Whatever the reason, sometimes they were ransomed, sometimes they were in debt.)

As of this writing, I’m still playing Zombies Ate My Neighbors – specifically the Super NES version – and I’m enjoying it. First released in 1993, Zombies Ate My Neighbors was developed by LucasArts and published by Konami for the two 16-bit consoles of the time. Recently in the City of Parañaque, local police officers arrested a painter who was found to be armed with a gun and for causing alarm among bystanders, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A painter armed with a .45 caliber pistol was arrested by members of the Parañaque City Police last Feb. 12 for creating panic among bystanders.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect, identified as alias “Jonathan,” 22 was arrested at around 2:00 p.m. in Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.

The police said the arrest of Jonathan came after a concerned citizen called up Barangay San Dionisio requesting for police assistance after a man brandishing his firearm had started causing panic among bystanders.

The police said personnel from the San Dionisio Police Sub-Station (SS4) immediately responded and found the suspect brandishing his firearm and challenging bystanders.

The suspect was immediately arrested. Recovered from him was a .45 caliber pistol with four ammunitions.
