NPA rebel wanted for murder arrested in Parañaque City

Recently in Parañaque City, police officers arrested an active member of the New People’s Army (NPA) who has been wanted for murder, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news report. The arrest took place at Barangay San Dionisio.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the PNA news report. Some parts in boldface…

A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) facing murder charge was nabbed during a manhunt operation conducted by operatives of the Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO5) in Parañaque City on Tuesday, a police report said.

In an interview on Wednesday, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, identified the suspect as Ferdinand Nolasco, 42, an active NPA member belonging to Platoon 3, Komite ng Probinsya 3 of the Albay Bicol Regional Party Committee (BRPC).

He is being indicted with the crime of murder with no bail recommended issued by the court,” she said.

Calubaquib said Nolasco was tracked down after the conduct of surveillance and intelligence operations starting in April.

He was finally arrested around 5:20 p.m. in Barangay San Dionisio after the service of a warrant of arrest by joint personnel of the different units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army (PA).

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a Parañaque City resident, are you concerned that there could be more Communists/socialists/Marxists who previously committed murder and could be living within your local community? Did you notice if your family members seem to be under the influence of the Satanic Left?

Maynilad officially distributing “New Water” in two barangays in Parañaque City

Months after the launch of their “New Water” project, water concessionaire Maynilad has finally started the distribution of the said water in two barangays within the City of Parañaque according to the company’s official announcement.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from Maynilad’s official announcement. Some parts in boldface…

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently started the piped-in distribution of its New Water—or potable supply sourced from treated used water—to two barangays in Parañaque City following its receipt of a Conditional Operational Permit (COP) from the Department of Health (DOH) Metro Manila Center for Health Development.

The COP was issued by the DOH after New Water passed a series of tests that proved its adherence to the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) and squarely met the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on potable reuse. The permit is valid for 12 months, and will be changed to a permanent permit once Maynilad consistently meets all the conditions set in the COP on the supply of New Water within the period, under the strict monitoring of DOH. Prior to the COP issuance, New Water has already been given a Certificate of Potability by the Parañaque City Health Office.

Maynilad’s New Water is the first implementation of potable water reuse in the Philippines.

“The DOH’s issuance of a permit to commence piped-in distribution of New Water is a major milestone for the local water industry, as this is the first time that recycled water will be tapped as an alternative supply source to address water shortages,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez, noting that the recycling of water for potable use is a practice that has been in place for decades in other countries, such as Singapore, Namibia, and parts of the United States.

Maynilad’s Php450-million “New Water Treatment Plant” gets the treated used water discharged by its Parañaque Water Reclamation Facility and converts it to drinkable water supply. The facility’s 10-MLD (million liters per day) output is blended with the supply produced by the company’s La Mesa Treatment Plants before conveyance to Barangays San Isidro and San Dionisio in Parañaque City.

Fernandez said that Maynilad is eyeing to construct four more “New Water Treatment Plants” by 2025, which will get treated used water from the company’s sewage treatment plants in Pasay, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, and Valenzuela.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Maynilad customer based in Parañaque City, does this New Water distribution news make you forget about the other problems you have with the water concessionaire? Do you think that Maynilad’s New Water project will solve public demand for drinking water? If you are running a business that sells water to customers who need to drink, how do you think Maynilad’s New Water project will affect your business? Do you think Maynilad will distribute New Water all over Parañaque City within the next six months? Has anyone linked with the City Government of Parañaque given you the false impression that the New Water project belonged to the City Government?

Parañaque cops arrest drug peddlers and confiscate illegal drugs worth P340,000

Parañaque is back in the drugs-related crime news as three people were arrested by local police officers in Barangay San Dionisio as a result of a drug buy-bust operation, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. Over P300,000 worth of illegal drugs was confiscated.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

Three alleged drug peddlers were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by members of the Parañaque Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) in coordination with Police Sub-Station 2 on Sunday, July 24.

Col. Maximo Sebastian, city police chief, identified the suspects as Elmer Dizcaya, 42; Myleen Mendoza, 42; and Joseph Dalimit, 46.

Sebastian said the suspects were arrested around 9:20 a.m. in Pitonio Extension, Lupang Pangarap, Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City during a buy-bust operation conducted by members of the SDEU and Sub-Station 2

The city police chief said confiscated from the suspects were 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000 placed in ten plastic sachets, two P1,000 bills used as the buy-bust money, and one blue coin purse.

The above report ended stating that the suspects will be charged for illegal possession of drugs while the confiscated substances will be analyzed.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are living in Parañaque City, what is your reaction to this report? Do you think that Parañaque will remain a hot spot for illegal drugs and buy-bust operations over the next few years? What do you think should be done by the City Government and the barangays in order to make Parañaque a drug-free city?

New water coming from Maynilad this July

Starting this July, water concessionaire Maynilad will start distributing their so-called new water to customers, according to a BusinessWorld news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the BusinessWorld news report. Some parts in boldface…

MAYNILAD Water Services, Inc. targets to distribute starting in July up to 10 million liters per day (MLD) of its “new water” or treated used water from households that passes through a rigorous purifying process to make it potable.

“We’re still doing some pipe-laying in Sucat, and we’re still waiting for our permit to operate from the Department of Health, but once we get it, maybe next month we can already distribute 10 MLD,” Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Randolph T. Estrellado said partly in Filipino during a virtual press briefing on Tuesday.

He said the company’s target eventually is to use all the wastewater in Metro Manila to be purified into new water. He said 80% of the water produced in its concession area comes back as wastewater.

The treated water will come from its modular treatment plants or ModTPs that will get raw water from the Parañaque Water Reclamation Facility.

The initial 10 MLD will be flowed into the distribution system for blending with the standard drinking water produced by Maynilad’s La Mesa treatment plants.

The blended supply will then be conveyed to barangays San Dionisio and San Isidro in Parañaque City, which are the areas nearest to the ModTP location. The two barangays will benefit from the additional supply, as it will improve water availability in the area.

Maynilad said it had been holding a series of social acceptability tests and public consultations with residential and commercial customers, local government units, and government agencies such as the DoH, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), and National Water Resources Board.

The consultations are meant to ensure that the new water will be acceptable to consumers.

Maynilad said that based on the results of its initial social acceptability test, its residential and commercial customers have expressed willingness to use new water after seeing it and understanding the process behind it.

“Mahaba ang pinagdaanan na journey ng Maynilad bago kami nakarating dito (Maynilad’s journey has been long before we got here),” Maynilad President and Chief Executive Officer Ramoncito S. Fernandez said.

“We will ensure that periodic tests will be done,” he added.

Maynilad said the new water will have no impact on customers’ water bill. The standard water tariff rates will apply whether raw water is sourced from Angat Dam, Laguna Lake, or treated used water.

The initiative is part of Maynilad’s move toward potable water reuse, which is aimed at boosting available supply in view of the growing demand for water. It is also in response to the strain on existing raw water sources due to the impact of climate change, the company said.

At present, used water from households is collected, cleaned in sewage treatment plants, and discharged into bodies of water. But with potable water reuse, treated used water goes through a second treatment plant for a more rigorous purification process. The new water output can be used for drinking, having passed the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water.

Maynilad officials said treated water reuse for drinking is already done in other countries.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What can you say about the new water that will be distributed by Maynilad? Are you looking forward to using the new water?

Parañaque City drug den raided, suspects arrested

This past weekend in the City of Parañaque, law enforcers raided a drug den and arrested six suspects, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The same report stated that hundreds of thousands of pesos worth of illegal drugs were confiscated. Take note that in early May, the city’s mayor declared almost all of the barangays were drug-free.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

Members of the Southern Police District (SPD) Drug Enforcement Unit raided a drug den in Parañaque City that led to the arrest of six suspects and confiscation of P408,000 worth of shabu on Sunday, May 22.

SPD Director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said the drug den maintainer was identified as Kaliman Midtimbang,31, who was tagged by the police as a high value individual (HVI). He was arrested together with five other suspects: Datupuwa Kanapia Datumantang, 32, also an HVI; Frederick Bautista, 23; Alfredo Cinco Montilla, 67; Sarah Jane Lumabao, 27; and Nadeen Junio Pedragoa, 25, all tagged as street level individuals (SLI).

Macaraeg said the suspects were arrested around 9:20 p.m. inside the drug den located along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City.

He said members of the SPD-DEU first conducted a buy-bust operation against Midtimbang and the team immediately raided the drug den after a poseur buyer was able to buy shabu from the suspect.

The SPD chief said the raiding team also found Datumantang distributing plastic sachets of shabu to other suspects to be sold to prospective buyers.

Macaraeg said the SPD-DEU team was able to confiscate from the suspects 16 sachets containing about 60 grams of shabu worth P408,000, and the P500 buy-bust money.

He said the arrested suspects were brought to the SPD custodial facility and were charged in violation of Section 5, 6 and 11 under Art II of RA 9165.

The confiscated shabu was brought to the SPD Forecsic Laboratory for chemical analysis.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this latest news development? Do you believe Parañaque will remain a hot spot for illegal drugs no matter what the city government officials say? Do you expect serious changes in the local war against drugs will happen once the newly elected local officials take over?

Recently in Parañaque City, another buy-bust operation organized by law enforcers resulted the arrest of two persons and the confiscation of illegal substances worth over a million pesos according to a news report published by the Manila Bulletin. The arrest happened on the evening of October 13 within the jurisdiction of Barangay San Antonio.
