One thousand 2nd District residents of Parañaque City sign up for TUPAD program

Recently in the city of Parañaque, one thousand residents of eight barangays that are all part of the 2^nd district of the city formally signed up as the newest batch for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, 2^nd District Congressman Brian Yamsuan confirmed through his official Facebook page.

This morning, August 7, 2025, we successfully conducted the contract signing of 1,000 beneficiaries of our Batch 4 P5/TUPAD Program from eight barangays of District (Two) of Parañaque!

Our deepest gratitude to DOLE for their continuous support, and to our fine senators Sen. Pia Cayetano , Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada — because of you, this program is made even more possible.

This is a big help to our countrymen and to every barangay of District (Two).

Present during the August 7 signing and gathering were Congressman Yamsuan, Vice Mayor Benjo Bernabe, City Councilor Tess de Asis and City Councilor Binky Favis. For the newcomers reading this, the TUPAD program is an initiative of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides short-term, community-based employment to the workers described as vulnerable or displaced, underemployed or seasonal. The temporary jobs offered by the program are often connected with community projects like the maintenance of public facilities and cleaning.

A Look Back at Action Comics #550 (1983)

Welcome back superhero enthusiasts, 1980s arts and culture enthusiasts, DC Comics fans and comic book collectors! Today we go back to the year 1983 to take a close look at a part of the DC Comics universe through a tale of the Action Comics monthly series.

If there is anything notable about the presentation of superhero elements in Superman stories, it is the occasional use of science fiction. From time to time, DC Comics published tales of Superman going deep into space, encounter alien species and visit far-away civilizations. Sometimes, sci-fi is used on major disasters that Superman has to solve.

With those details laid down, here is a look back at Action Comics #550, published in 1983 by DC Comics with a story written by E. Nelson Bridwell and Bob Rozakis, and drawn by George Tuska.

Early story

The story begins with Clark Kent and Lana Lang presenting television news at the WGBS station telling viewers about The Exploder who attacked a large jumbo jet full of people. As the program continues, breaking news about an enormous underwater eruption north of New Guinea came in.

Shortly after, Clark quickly and discreetly left the station to fly overseas as Superman. By visiting the site of the reported underwater eruption, he notices the entire New Guinea drifting southward. Superman is compelled to go deep underwater to prevent the nation from drifting further and he also realized there is no volcano that caused the blast.

Quality

*Superman goes to outer space to find answers behind the events that took place on Earth.*

This is a Superman tale that does not have the traditional good-versus-evil element of conflict. Instead, it is a sci-fi story that started with solid mystery causing the Man of Steel to do research and detective work to find answers.

The comic book writers behind this were really good in pushing Superman hard on his search for answers to solve mysteries that were really out of this world. Lana Lang’s father appears here as a long-time archaeologist who successfully discovered an ancient artifact described as a so-called disk. The plot turned intense when The Exploder suddenly emerged to take the disk away which unsurprisingly pushed Superman to not only react but also get answers.

I like the fact that as Superman does detective work, Lana Lang and Jimmy Olsen contributed nicely to the plot. At the same time, the mystery and tension really built up as the story went along and the payoff the comic book creators came up with is surprising and also worth it.

Without spoiling the plot, I can say that this Superman tale has its own twists on the concept of UFOs and alien that happen to have special interest on Earth. At the same time, you will realize how dedicated Superman is to protecting the people of Earth and why he would not tolerate aliens who actions would jeopardize billions of lives.

Conclusion

*I liked the interactions Clark had with Lana Lang as he tries to solve mysteries.*

While Action Comics #550 (1983) does not have a super villain for Superman to battle, you will still see him doing good, solving mysteries and prioritizing Earth’s people. The sci-fi concept the creators came up with looked outlandish on face value but when you read the story and pay close attention to all the details, you will realize that the story is actually believable. I also like the mystery aspect which gave the plot a good amount of depth.

Overall, Action Comics #550 (1983) is recommended.

Freelance club DJ shot in Las Piñas City gas station, declared dead-on-arrival at hospital

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a freelance club disc jockey (DJ) was shot by an armed man (who has a partner driving a motorcycle) at a gas station, according to a GMA Network news report. The victim was brought to a hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival. The shooting incident was captured on CCTV camera.

A club disc jockey was killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Piñas City on Wednesday evening, according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ Jhomer Apresto on Unang Balita Thursday.

As seen in CCTV footage, the 34-year-old victim aboard his pickup vehicle was at a gasoline station when two men aboard a motorcycle stopped near him around 10 p.m. The backrider alighted the motorcycle, approached the pickup vehicle, and shot the victim.

The perpetrators on board their motorcycle fled while the victim on his pickup vehicle hit a wall at the gasoline station. The victim was brought to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

According to the police, investigators are looking into the possibility that the crime was drug-related as sachets of suspected illegal drugs were recovered from the hand and bag of the victim.

“Yun ang tinitignan natin maaaring galing sa bahay papunta rito hanggang siya ay sundan, abangan, at pagbabarilin,” Las Piñas Police chief Police Colonel Sandro Tafalla said.

The mother of the victim said that her son just returned home from Malaysia and that she has no idea who is behind the shooting.

Welcome back my readers, YouTube viewers and all others who followed this series of articles focused on YouTube videos worth watching. Have you been searching for something fun or interesting to watch on YouTube? Do you feel bored right now and you crave for something to see on the world’s most popular online video destination?

I recommend you check out the following videos I found.

#1 Ashleigh Burton reacts to Octopussy – As a young boy, I first saw the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy on home video. Starring Roger Moore, the movie has Agent 007 on another wild adventure facing off with a Soviet Union general and the exiled Afghan prince. With a notable part of the film shot on location in India, Octopussy’s action and stunt scenes looked exotic and sometimes comical. That being said, I enjoyed watch Ashleigh Burton’s reaction video and it is easily the most entertaining Octopussy reaction video on YouTube to date. Watch her video now.

#2 Trump crushes the European Union and wins big for America – After executing the greatest comeback ever, US President Donald Trump’s winning streak of achievements continued as he scored big for the Americans by crushing the corrupted European Union (EU). Not only did American win over the EU on trade, Trump slammed Europe’s approach on migration as well as their renewable energy policies in front of the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. Watch the two videos below and pay close attention to the details.

#3 Slope’s Game Room examines Theme Park – While I played a lot of video games and computer games through the decades, I never had the chance to play the 1994 game Theme Park. Developed by Bullfrog Productions, Theme Park is a simulation game in which players get to construct an amusement park and manage it with the goal of attracting visitors, making profit and expanding globally. #4 Popcorn in Bed reacts to Jaws 2 – Recently the Canadian YouTuber Popcorn in Bed posted her reaction video of Jaws 2. A sequel to Steven Spielberg’s classic Jaws, the 1978 movie had Roy Scheider as the star again but he and director Jeannot Szwarc had conflicts behind the scenes and the production was troublesome. Having seen all Jaws movies, I can say that Jaws 2 had a lot of creative elements common with slasher horror movies. That being said, the way this movie drew reactions from Popcorn in Bed is a must-see.

#5 Japan’s authorities react to troublesome foreigners and tourists from overseas – There is no denying that Japan is a great place to visit and explore. As a young man, I toured Japan twice (in 1996 and 1997) and I can say that the travel experience is tremendous. In today’s age of social media and people having their own smartphones, Japan continues to attract even more visitors from around the world and the sad thing is that there are troublesome or disrespectful foreigners who arrived as well. Now the authorities are making adjustments in reaction. Watch and learn from the video of Asian Route below. Also, remember to respect the rules and the locals in every country you visit.

Greece pushes back hard against illegal immigrants

Greece, a nation with a population of over ten million people, has had enough with the influx of illegal migrants and they took action to control the border to protect both their sovereignty and their citizens. Officially there has been a freeze on asylum processes (for the next three months) and many foreigners who arrived on Greece’s shores were detained.

If you were not able to receive this particular news, then I’m not surprised because Islamo-Leftist mainstream news media outlets (the ones who favored illegal immigrants and open borders) refused to report about it. The more conservative news outlets like Sky News Australia managed to report about it early and I encourage you to watch their news video below.

For some time already, a lot of people from the Middle East and north Africa crossed the seas to reach the shores of Greece to enter Europe. The government of Greece has had enough and they started the changes a few months prior which explains their recent action against illegal migrants. For the newcomers reading this, gangs of violent migrants caused chaos in Spain weeks ago. Clearly Greece does not want such tragedies to happen in their country.

By pushing back against illegal immigrants, Greece itself is facing renewed opposition from those who support illegal immigration and the foreigners’ so-called rights. Watch and learn from the DW News video below.

Here is something intriguing to look at…the so-called refugees in Greece even protested at the gates of their camp demanding to be released to the wealthier parts of Europe like the United Kingdom (UK), Sweden and Germany. Seriously, what were these foreigners who illegally arrived thinking? Watch the Sky News Australia video below.

Lastly, United States President Donald Trump spoke out against illegal immigration (plus renewable energy) in Europe right in front of the President of the European Commission of the corrupted European Union (EU). It is clear that America under Trump secured their border with Mexico and they have been working hard to not only prevent illegal crossings but also go after the illegal immigrants and illegal aliens who are already in the country. Trump has solid results against illegal immigration with him and it would be great if the nations of Europe would be inspired to become tougher to secure their borders and protect the citizens. Philippines deports over 1,400 foreigners over immigration law violations

While Spain and other nations of Europe are struggling with the high number of illegal migrants and foreign nationals who keep on trespassing into their respective territories, the Philippines deported more than one thousand four hundred foreigners in the first half of 2025 over a series of violations of immigration law, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The number of foreign nationals who were deported during the first half of the year doubled compared to last year, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported Friday.

According to Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado, data from the bureau’s deportation and implementation unit (DIU) revealed that a total of 1,422 foreign nationals were deported due to immigration violations during the period. The BI recorded 717 deportees during the same period in 2024.

Chinese nationals topped the list with 957, followed by 231 Vietnamese, 41 South Koreans, 41 Malaysians, and 37 Burmese.

Viado said majority of the deportations were foreigners found to be illegally working in Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) in the country despite the ban.

“Our strengthened deportation protocols follow the directive of the President to act swiftly and remove foreigners who abuse our people’s hospitality. We will continue expediting the deportation of foreign nationals who violate our laws,” the BI chief added in a statement.

The BI earlier reported improvements in deportation protocols, including fast-tracking clearances in partnership with the National Bureau of Investigation, immediate resolution of cases suspected to be filed under the ‘demanda me’ scheme, regular coordination with embassies for swift issuance of travel documents, and opening of a new holding facility for arrested aliens. Meanwhile, Viado also reported the arrest on July 22 of two Sudanese nationals found to be undocumented in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Parañaque Congressman Yamsuan tells graduates there is nothing wrong with starting at the bottom

Recently in Parañaque City, the 2^nd District Representative Brian Yamsuan told the newest graduates of Parañaque City College (PCC) not to be ashamed of starting at the bottom, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. He tried to inspire many during PCC’s graduation rites.

Don’t be ashamed of starting at the bottom.

Parañaque City 2nd district Rep. Brian Raymund Yamsuan gave this message to this year’s graduating batch from the Parañaque City College (PCC) as they try to transition from learners to workers.

Yamsuan recalled how in all the jobs he undertook before he became a government official–from being a fastfood restaurant worker and a taxi driver, to being a young Senate staff member doing menial tasks–he always did his best, and kept in mind that no task is too small or beneath him.

“I had the mindset that the way we do the small things says a lot about how we will handle bigger things,” Yamsuan said in his speech before the PCC Class of 2025 during the school’s recognition rites held on July 21.

“And so, when you enter the workforce and perhaps starting at the very bottom, approach every role with respect, gratitude, and the willingness to grow. Humility is the first step to becoming better. Kung magsimula kayo sa baba, huwag kayong mahiya (If you start at the bottom, don’t be ashamed of it),” he added.

Yamsuan underscored the importance of humility, compassion, and integrity in shaping the character and actions of today’s youth.

“Let humility be your foundation, to keep you grounded and always learning. Let compassion be your compass, guiding how you treat others. And let integrity be your anchor, reminding you who you are, no matter how far you go,” he said.

In a world that prioritizes speed and competition, Yamsuan told graduates to never forget the power of kindness and compassion in positively changing people’s lives and creating an impact that goes beyond profits and success.

“In whatever job you decide to do, let compassion lead you to serve others,” Yamsuan said. “In whatever field you choose to pursue, never lose sight of why you’re there: the people.”

As a public servant, Yamsuan said compassion is at the core of everything he does—from crafting laws, policies and programs to engaging directly with the people to understand their hopes and daily struggles.

CIDG seizes P121.4-M substandard Apple products and arrests two suspects in Parañaque City

Recently in Parañaque City, elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized more than P120 million worth of substandard Apple products and arrested two suspects, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two individuals and seized substandard Apple products worth PHP121.4 million in Parañaque City.

In a statement on Monday, CIDG acting chief Brig. Gen. Romeo Macapaz said the suspects “Crissa” and “Charles” were caught in the act of selling assorted Apple products such as iPhone, Apple Watch and accessories without the required clearance from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and registration from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), during the operation in a residential compound in Barangay Tambo on July 19.

This act violates Articles 18 and 50 of Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, in relation to Section 2 of NTC Memorandum Circular 08-08-2004A.

The CIDG seized nine boxes of Apple iWatches (225 units), 14 boxes of MagSafe chargers (531 units), 92 boxes of AirPods (4,580 units), including seven boxes of charger adaptors (2,652 units), 37 boxes of charger sets (6,664 units), 18 boxes of iPhone accessories (1,033 units), one box of car chargers (70 units), 10 boxes of charging cords (1,740 units), two boxes of handheld fans (87 units), three boxes of hair dryers (77 units), three boxes of Beats Solo headphones (126 units), one unit of iPhone 16, and one box of earphones (110 units) with estimated market value of PHP121.47 million.

Two Men Arrested in Parañaque City Over Theft of Electrical Materials and Plumbing Fixtures

Did you notice any faucets or wires missing in your household lately? Recently in Parañaque City, two men were arrested over the theft of faucets and wires from a private residence located in Barangay Sto. Niño, according to a Daily Tribune news report. The suspects attempted to escape.

Two men were arrested early Sunday, 20 July, after allegedly stealing electrical materials and plumbing fixtures from a private residence along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Barangay Sto. Niño, Parañaque City.

The suspects, both unemployed and residents of Sitio Libijo, were identified as 25-year-old alias “Rowel” and 22-year-old alias “Jasper.”

Both were caught around 1:30 a.m. while security officers were conducting routine patrols. Authorities said the suspects were carrying a white sack and attempted to escape but were quickly apprehended.

A search of their belongings yielded 18 water faucets valued at around P135,000, two regulator gauges worth P7,000, three rolled royal cords valued at P5,000, and a gray wire.

What to watch on YouTube right now – Part 92

#1 Superboy star John Newton featured in Minty Comedic Arts’ video – It has been almost forty years since the Superboy TV series first launched with John Newton (formerly John Haymes Newton) as the titular role. It was an entertaining TV show and it easily attracted a lot of Superman fans, DC Comics readers and those who read the Superboy comic books. Recently, John Newton was featured in a special video by Minty Comedic Arts which was the result of information mentioned in Minty’s standalone Superboy trivia video. Newton saw the Superboy video and reached out to Minty Comedic Arts. Minty – who admitted he has a weakness on interviewing/communicating with people – agreed to feature Newton in a documentary style video instead of an online interview. That being said, Newton recorded his minutes-long part and said a lot of intriguing and interesting information about his one-season work as Superboy. That being said, I urge you all to watch Minty’s special video below.

#2 Barack Obama exposed over Russia collusion hoax – It took more than eight years but Tulsi Gabbard did her patriotic duty by declassifying high-level files and messages exposing Barack Obama for treason over his responsibility behind the Russia collusion hoax (designed to undermine Donald Trump who defeated Hillary Clinton for US President in 2016) and he involved America’s intelligence community. What Obama did was not just a corrupted act as US President but a clear violation against the will of the American people who chose Trump over Clinton. This tragedy only showed how corrupted, wicked and arrogant Democrats really are. To understand all the details, what happened behind the scenes back in late-2016 and what the documents showed, watch the selected videos below.

#3 Jeff Daniels and Kamala Harris are the modern Dumb and Dumber – Do you still remember actor Jeff Daniels? He appeared in 1990s films like Arachnophobia, Speed and Dumb and Dumber. In an interview, he expressed his feelings for the defeated and incompetent Commie Democrat Kamala Harris and he still could not get over the results of the 2024 US Presidential Election won by Donald Trump! Daniels foolishly compared Harris to Abraham Lincoln. Watch the video below and observe who is dumb and dumber.

#4 A look at an Osaka diner – It has been almost thirty years since my one and only visit to Osaka in Japan. As I was browsing YouTube videos to watch, I spotted a video about a certain Osaka diner which has great looking visuals, a strong presentation, and the Japanese dialogue translated into English presented in subtitles. More importantly, the video will give viewers an in-depth look as to how diner is operated and how the food gets prepared before opening. It could be helpful for those inspiring to open a new restaurant. Watch it now!

#5 Reaction videos of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) – Have you been watching any 1950s movies as of late? If you did, was there any particular film from that decade that scared you or made you feel stressed while watching? The 1956 film Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one such film and people who discovered it and saw it recently often state they found it suspenseful and even scary. I found three reaction videos about the film on YouTube and they are entertaining to watch.
