Five Suspects Arrested and Illegal Drugs Worth Over P3 Million Seized in Parañaque City

Recently in the City of Parañaque, local police officers arrested five people and seized more than P3 million worth of illegal drugs as a result of a successful buy-bust operation, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Five suspects, including two high-value individuals (HVIs), were arrested in anti-drug operations in Parañaque City early Tuesday, with authorities confiscating PHP3.2 million worth of suspected illegal drugs.

In a statement, Southern Police District (SPD) acting director Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo said alias Christian, 28, and Symon, 29, both HVIs; along with Renmer, 26, Jackylyn, 21, and Christine, 26, all classified as street-level individuals (SLI), were arrested during a buy-bust operation inside a condominium unit at Pacific Coast Plaza in Barangay Tambo around 5:10 a.m.

Arceo said SPD operatives seized from the suspects 200 grams of suspected ketamine valued at PHP1.1 million; 1,000 grams of suspected marijuana kush worth PHP700,000; 500 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves valued at PHP60,000; and 791 pieces of suspected ecstasy tablets with an estimated worth of PHP1.34 million, for a total street value of PHP3.20 million.

Also recovered were the PHP2,000 buy-bust money, a weighing scale, a storage box, and a cellular phone believed to have been used in the drug trade.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin Aberin underscored the determination of the police force to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs.

Philippines Department of Tourism Condemns Fatal Shooting of Two Japanese Nationals

As the Philippines continues to experience difficulty attracting foreign tourists, a tragedy struck two Japanese nationals in the City of Manila which led to the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) condemnation of the fatal shooting committed by motorcycle-riding assailants, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

For the newcomers reading this, Japan accounted for 444,528 visitors in the Philippines for the year 2024 which was a huge growth over the 2023 numbers.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Tuesday strongly condemned the fatal shooting of two Japanese nationals in Manila.

In a statement, the agency extended its sympathies to the families and called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a “swift and thorough” investigation into the incident.

“Tourism, a vital pillar of livelihood for millions of Filipinos, heavily depends on creating and maintaining conditions of peace, safety, and security,” the statement read.

“We note with deep concern that recent events have already prompted advisories from foreign embassies in the country’s top visitor source markets, which could adversely affect tourist confidence and the Philippines’ image as a safe and welcoming destination,” it added.

The DOT is working with relevant agencies, including local governments and stakeholders, to reinforce security measures for visiting foreigners.

“[T]he Department also continues to coordinate with its Regional Offices, local government units, and tourism stakeholders to reinforce protective measures, reassure foreign and domestic visitors, and safeguard the tourism industry that sustains so many Filipino families,” it said.

The two Japanese were shot by motorcycle-riding assailants while exiting a taxi along Malvar Street in Manila on Aug. 15.

The Manila Police District on Monday said one suspect has been taken into custody while another person of interest has been identified in connection with the robbery with homicide.

Parañaque Online Scam Hub Raided By CIDG, 14 Suspects Apprehended

Recently in the City of Parañaque, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) successfully raided an online scam hub, seized several pieces of equipment and arrested fourteen suspects, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested 14 people, including a female foreigner, following a raid in an online scam hub in Parañaque City.

CIDG director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said the operation also resulted in the rescue of a minor who was hired as one of the scammers in what he called ” online task job scam”.

“This underscores our unyielding fight against trafficking in persons, child abuse, and cybercrimes. With this, we significantly prevented future ‘online task job scam’ from happening,” he said.

Abrahano explained that the modus of the syndicate is to operate through the online messaging application “Telegram” where the suspects/scammers send links to their intended victims. Each suspect, he said, is assigned to 600 Telegram accounts to contact potential victims.

The CIDG chief said that once the link is accessed, the victims are directed to a so-called “task job,” which assigns simple online tasks such as liking the pages of hotel packages. After the completion of these tasks, the victims are instructed to open a Binance account – cryptocurrency account.

After creating the account, Abrahano said the scammers would require the victims to deposit funds into it. The victims are subsequently directed to transfer the deposited funds into a Binance account allegedly managed by the arrested Chinese manager.

“The scammers/suspects will lure victims that the transferred money will generate profit or accrue interest, promising continuous growth of the investment,” said Abrahano.

This misrepresentation forms the basis of the fraudulent scheme, ultimately leading to financial loss on the part of the victims,” he added.

During the raid in Barangay Tambo, CIDG operatives seized 70 desktop computers, cellular phones, computer peripherals, vault, dormitory pass IDs, and passports. They also discovered cryptocurrency account numbers.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested five Chinese and their two alleged Filipino cohorts for selling beers and luncheon meat that are believed to be smuggled.

CIDG director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said the bottles of beer and the cans of luncheon meat they seized during the operation in Barangay Marcelo in Parañaque City were not registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This is the reason, he said, why the five Chinese and two Filipinos were collared and now facing criminal charges.

He said the operation stemmed from reports about the proliferation of food and beverage products that were smuggled into the country and being sold without the approval of the FDA.

Armed with a search warrant, CIDG operatives swooped down on a warehouse in Parañaque City and seized 500 cases of “Snow” beer in cans, and 300 boxes of “Meining” pork luncheon meat. The seized products are estimated to be worth P1.1 million.

I have no intention to buy a Blu-ray or a 4K Blu-ray copy of it. I’m referring to unagi (Japanese for freshwater eel) which is served as part of unadon which is the popular meal consisting of a donburi type bowl (large size) filled with steamed white rice topped with eel fillets. It is not surprising that as Japan is attracted a high number of visitors from around the world, more foreign tourists there are consuming and enjoying it. Watch and learn from the video below.

Man arrested in Parañaque City for cutting telecommunication cable wires

Recently in the city of Parañaque, two security guards caught a man cutting telecommunication cable wires resulting in his arrest, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The suspect will be charged for with theft and violation of Republic Act No. 10515.

A 32-year-old man was arrested after two security guards caught him cutting telecommunication cable wires in Parañaque on July 29.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as Jospeh, a resident of Valenzuela City. He was nabbed at around 3:15 a.m. on West Service Road in front of Detapas Market Place in Barangay Marcelo Green, Parañaque City.

The SPD stated that two patrolling security guards spotted the suspect cutting telecommunication cable wire, prompting them to apprehend him. He was turned over to the Parañaque City Marcelo Green Police Substation.

Recovered from the suspect were aerial copper cable, two pieces of PLDT closure, and various tools used in the theft, including a kitchen knife, a wood saw, a metal paper cutter, pliers, and small knife, and a backpack.

Man arrested in Parañaque City for fraud and identity theft

Recently in the city of Parañaque, local law enforcers arrested a 44-year-old man over the use of fake identification as well as using a credit card to purchase almost P390,000 worth of gift certificates, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

A 44-year-old man was arrested for using a fake identification card and a credit card to purchase gift certificates amounting to P387,000 from a supermarket in Parañaque City.

The suspect was identified as Fidel. He was arrested at around 7:40 p.m. at Puregold located along NAIA Avenue, Barangay Sto. Nino, Parañaque City.

The police said the suspect used a falsified ID and credit card under the name of Rodolfo Carreon Anastacio to purchase gift certificates amounting to P387,000 from Puregold Moonwalk in Parañaque and in FTI, Taguig City.

The police said the real person, Rodolfo, reported that his identity was being used by an unscrupulous person for fraud and that he does not own any credit card.

The suspect was immediately arrested and was detained at the Parañaque City Police custodial facility.

Four Chinese nationals arrested in Parañaque City over kidnapping

Recently in the city of Parañaque, local law enforcers arrested four Chinese nationals over the kidnap of a fellow Chinese national, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article. The suspects previously operated as money changers targeting those who exchanged large amount of money.

Four Chinese nationals were arrested over the weekend for allegedly kidnapping a fellow Chinese citizen, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III announced on Monday.

In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Torre said the four suspects were arrested on Saturday by members of the PNP’s Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) at a resort-casino in Parañaque City.

He said the group operated as money changers who would target individuals exchanging large amounts of money.

“Matagal na kasi established itong apat, kilala na ito na mga money changer (These four have been established for a long time and are known as money changers),” he added.

AKG director Brig. Gen. Glicerio Cansilao said the 30-year-old male victim, while in captivity, managed to a discreetly call a friend through a borrowed mobile phone. The friend then called law enforcement authorities via 911.

Upon arrival at the hotel room, AKG operatives found six individuals —the four suspects, the victim, and a female Chinese national who also turned out to be a victim.

It was also learned that the male victim was physically harmed and forced to transfer an approximate amount of US$50,000 from his cryptocurrency wallet as part of ransom for his freedom.

The suspects are temporarily detained at Camp Crame and have already undergone inquest proceedings for charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

USAID closure felt by minority group in Nepal

Nepal, a nation of more than 30 million people and with a Hindu majority, has a certain group of minority people whose reliance on the scandalous U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) ended months ago and they event went on to celebrate pride recently, according to a news report by the Leftist Associated Press (AP) magnified by the Manila Bulletin.

For the newcomers reading this, the USAID global scandal happened months ago and there was a list of overseas projects of questionable and wrongful purposes that were funded with American taxpayers’ money. USAID has formally shut down and was incorporated into the State Department.

Members of the Nepal’s LGBTQ+ community and supporters rallied in the capital Sunday in the annual pride rally, which was the first since a major cut in funding after the U.S. government ceased financial aid.

Hundreds of people took part in the rally through the heart of Kathmandu, playing music and dancing in the Gai Jatra festival, which is celebrated to remember family members who have passed away during the year. But it has long drawn colorful parades by bringing in sexual minorities to join in on the festivities.

Nepal’s LGBTQ+ campaign has been hit after U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration began dismantling the U.S. Agency for International Development, which was responsible for humanitarian aid.

Most of the support centers for Nepal’s LGBTQ+ community have been closed because of a lack of funds.

In the past few years, Nepal’s LGBTQ+ community made rapid advancements in securing their rights. The nation became one of the first in Asia to allow same sex-sex marriage. The constitution adopted in 2015 explicitly stated there can be no discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

The U.S. was among the biggest donors for the LGBTQ+ rights campaign.

Over the years, USAID and others stepped in and partnered with help centers to support initiatives like HIV prevention and care, and safe-sex counselling. The U.S. funds were vital for running the centers and clinics that helped with distributing free condoms, screenings and follow-up treatment for people with HIV. Now the USAID office in Nepal is closed.

Even though they don’t have funds anymore from USAID, the minority group in Nepal still went on to spend time and money on celebrating pride. Here in the Philippines, the local LGBTQIA+ organizations depended on USAID funding. The USAID funding for the LGBTQ people in Nepal looks similar to what was funded to their Filipino counterparts. Going further, there was even an LGBTQ comic book project in Peru that got funded with $32,000 American taxpayers’ money. Very clearly, USAID was very abused and funded wrongful and questionable projects around the world.

Freelance club DJ shot in Las Piñas City gas station, declared dead-on-arrival at hospital

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a freelance club disc jockey (DJ) was shot by an armed man (who has a partner driving a motorcycle) at a gas station, according to a GMA Network news report. The victim was brought to a hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival. The shooting incident was captured on CCTV camera.

A club disc jockey was killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Piñas City on Wednesday evening, according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ Jhomer Apresto on Unang Balita Thursday.

As seen in CCTV footage, the 34-year-old victim aboard his pickup vehicle was at a gasoline station when two men aboard a motorcycle stopped near him around 10 p.m. The backrider alighted the motorcycle, approached the pickup vehicle, and shot the victim.

The perpetrators on board their motorcycle fled while the victim on his pickup vehicle hit a wall at the gasoline station. The victim was brought to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

According to the police, investigators are looking into the possibility that the crime was drug-related as sachets of suspected illegal drugs were recovered from the hand and bag of the victim.

“Yun ang tinitignan natin maaaring galing sa bahay papunta rito hanggang siya ay sundan, abangan, at pagbabarilin,” Las Piñas Police chief Police Colonel Sandro Tafalla said.

The mother of the victim said that her son just returned home from Malaysia and that she has no idea who is behind the shooting.
