Dimayuga and Tan top Under-15 category of 2025 National Age Group Triathlon Subic Bay race

Diego Jose Dimayuga and Lauren Lee Tan dominated the Under-15 (Youth) category in the 2025 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Freeport Boardwalk in Zambales yesterday.

Dimayuga of Get Coach’D Academy, finished the 500 meter swim – 10 kilometer bike – 2 kilometer race 30 minutes and 55 seconds to beat teammate Pio Mishael Latonio (31:34) and David Mora of TNST/Sante Barley TriTeam, who clocked 31:39, in the boys division of the event organized by the Triathlon Philippines headed by Tom Carrasco.

Tan of Ormoc Aquatic Edge bagged the girls title with a time of 34:07, beating Christy Ann Perez of TLTG Go for Gold PH (34:27) and Alaina Bouffaut of Get Coach’D Academy (35:04).

Meanwhile, Pele Matteo Latonio (Get Coach’D Academy) and Elise Salas (Olongapo Junior Trackers) ruled Super Kids 11-12 category (400m swim-8km bike-2km run) in the tournament sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Milo, Standard Insurance, LeGarde, Gatorade, Asia Centre for Insulation Philippines, Inc. and Fitbar.

Latonio registered 32:02 followed by Chris Donovan Lacuna of Olongapo Junior Trackers Multisport (32:19) and Oliver Kurt Alingarog of DLSZ Tri Team (32:34) in the boys division.

Salas, on the other hand, clocked 33:06 to prevail over Naomi Rosalie Dimayuga of Get Coach’D Academy (33:50) and Saffi Vanicka Son of TLTG Go for Gold PH (33:08) in the girls division.

In the 9-10 category (200m swim-6km bike-1km), Gabriel Tapuro of Team Megawide (24:02) secured the gold medal over Nathaniel Rafael Macasaet of Golden Flippers Swim Club (24:30) and John Luigi Remolino of TLTG Go for Gold PH (24:50) in the boys division, while Pia Gienne Meiko Gito of Sante Barley Tri Team (23:22) captured the girls title over Juriel Brooke Julian of Olongapo Junior Trackers Multisport (24:35) and Angeli May Casera of GAS Coaching (24:45).

In the 7-8 category (100m swim-2km bike-800m run), Eli Julian Dela Cruz of Team Megawide (13:43) placed first followed by Theodore Caleb of TLTG Go for Gold PH (14:27) and Jiro Tamayo of TriVatan (14:46) in the boys division, while the top three finishers in the girls division were Abigail Bouffaut of Get Coach’D Academy (16:02), Stacey Ailia Aisha Escala of Olongapo Junior Trackers Multisport (16:35) and Zia Angel Da Silva of TLTG Go for Gold PH (17:14).

Ruan Azriel Santos and Jan Christel Culanag of Olongapo Junior Trackers Multisport topped the 6 and under category (50m swim-1km bike-400m run) of the event supported by Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, RaceYa, Stat Med and MTiming.

The second day of the tournament features Elite/Junior men and women; Para Triathlon men; Sprint Age Group men and women (16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59) and 60 and over for men only; Sprint Age Group men and women (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49); 50 and over (women); 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and over (men); and Standard Team Relay (men, women and mixed) categories.

The race distances are Sprint Elite, Junior Elite, Para, and Age Group (750 M swim – 20 Km bike – 5 Km run)) and Standard Age Group/Team Relay (1.5 Km swim – 40 Km bike – 10 Km run).

2025 National Age Group Triathlon Subic Bay Freeport race all set this weekend

It’s all systems for the 2025 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) opening race which will be held this weekend at the Subic Boardwalk inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Day 1 (January 25, Saturday) of the swim-bike-run event organized by the Triathlon Philipines headed by Tom Carrasco features the Super Tri Kids boys and girls (6 and under, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12) and the U15 (Youth) men and women (13-15 years old) categories.

In Day 2 (January 26, Sunday) are the Elite/Junior men and women; Para Triathlon men; Sprint Age Group men and women (16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59) and 60 and over for men only; Sprint Age Group men and women (18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49); 50 and over (women); 50-54, 55-59 and 60 and over (men); and Standard Team Relay (men, women and mixed) categories.

The race distances are Sprint Elite, Junior Elite, Para, and Age Group (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run); Youth 13-15 (500m swim, 10km bike and 2km run); and Standard Age Group/Team Relay (1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run).

In the Super Tri Kids division, the race distances are 50m swim-1km bike-400m run (6 years and under); 100m swim-2km bike-800m run (7-8 years old); 200m swim-6km bike-1km run (9-10 years old); and 400m swim-8km bike-2km run (11-12 years old).

Cebu’s Remolino and Alcoseba the heavy favorites in 2025 NAGT-Subic Bay race

As the 2025 season opener of the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) series is set to take place on January 25 and 26 at the Subic Bay Boardwalk inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Cebu’s very own Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) medalists Andrew Kim Remolino and Raven Faith Alcoseba are seen as the heavy favorites in their respective categories, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) sports article.

In addition, there are several triathletes from Cebu who will be joining the Subic Bay triathlon across different categories. For the Philippines triathlon team, this event is crucial as it serves as a qualifying race for this year’s SEA Games which will be hosted by Thailand.

Cebu will be sending a big delegation to the 2025 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) tournament scheduled Jan. 25 and 26 at Subic Bay Freeport.

Leading the contingent is Andrew Kim Remolino, the defending men’s elite titlist in the competition organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

“It’s gonna be a hard race to start the season since everyone’s really getting ready for it,” Remolino said in an interview on Sunday.

“The NAGT is the first qualifying race to get a slot for the SEA (Southeast) Games in Thailand, so for now, we are just preparing for the things we could improve before the race day,” added the 23-year-old who hails from Talisay.

He bagged an aquathlon silver at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

The Thailand SEA Games is set in December this year.

Remolino won the 2024 NAAT, with an Olympic distance 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run, in 56 minutes and 56 seconds, beating fellow Cebuano Matthew Justine Hermosa who registered a personal best 56:57 and Baguio City’s Dayshaun Ramos (57:31).

Also back this year is Raven Faith Alcoseba, who clocked 1:03:55 to rule the women’s division over Erika Nicole Burgos of Tanauan, Batangas (1:05:39) and Kira Ellis (1:06:16).

Hermosa, Burgos, Ellis and Iñaki Emil Lorbes bagged the mixed team gold medal at the Cambodia SEA Games.

Other Cebuanos in the lineup are Renz Wynn Corbin (men’s elite); John Michael Lalimos (men’s junior elite); Nicole Marie Del Rosario (women’s elite); Alex Niño Silverio and Cedei Abellana (para triathlon); Zackary Angelo Da Silva and Henry Ezekiel Go (youth male); Christy Ann Perez, Niala Kyrzl Limas and Henia Ethania Go (youth female); John Wayne Ybañez (age group men); Venice Herbias (age group women); Kian Manabat (16-19); Mika Natural (13-15); Zia Angel Da Silva (8-under); Theodore Son and John Luigi Remolino II (9-10); Safficka Son and Zoe Angel Da Silva (11-12); and Althea Arciaga (9-10).

Triathlon Philippines’ Talent Identification Program Try-Outs Set to Happen in Cebu, Davao Del Norte and Cavite on January 2025

Triathlon Philippines (TriPhil) will be searching for new talents in Cebu, Davao Del Norte and Cavite by organizing try-outs under its Talent Identification Program this coming January.

Triathlon coach Kevin Eijansantos and technical official Edgar Nicolas will do the talent search in Cebu on January 11, at the Davao Del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex on January 13, and at Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub in Cavite on January 18. TriPhil’s Talent Identification Program aims to discover and nurture young Filipino athletes in the youth (13-15 years old) and junior (16-19 years old) categories, providing them with opportunities to develop their skills and represent the country in national and international competitions.

To be eligible, youth applicants must be Filipino citizens born between 2010 and 2012, while junior applicants must be born between 2006 and 2009. Deadline of registration is December 31, 2024.

For inclusion to the triathlon pool, a contender must pass the qualifying times for swimming and running plus bike handling skills tests. Participation in local races of TriPhil will be required as a selection committee will review the aspirants’ results per race.

TriPhil will announce the official members of the National Development Pool for 2025 no later than May 30, 2025.

Expanding the National Development Pool is part of Triathlon Philippines’ preparation for the 4^th Asian Youth Games (AYG) in Uzbekistan in September 2025 preparatory to possible participation in the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Dakar, Senegal.

The Philippines is also girding for the sprint distance triathlon competitions of the 2025 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Rayong, Thailand in December 2025.

Masbate City’s most wanted person arrested in Parañaque City

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a man from Masbate City who is wanted for murder was apprehended by local police officers, according to a Philippine Star news report. This is the result of a successful manhunt by the authorities.

Masbate’s most wanted person was arrested during a manhunt operation last Thursday in Parañaque City.

The 23-year-old suspect, known by his alias “John,” is originally from Barangay Baga-uma, Aroroy, Masbate was apprehended at 1:20 a.m. in Barangay San Antonio in Sucat.

The suspect faces a murder charge and he had been on the run since a warrant for his arrest was issued on June 9 last year by the regional trial court in Masbate City, according to Parañaque police.

The manhunt operation was a joint effort involving the Aroroy Municipal Police Station, Parañaque City Police Sub-Station 6 and the National Capital Region Police Office.

After his capture, the suspect was brought to Parañaque City Police Sub-Station 6 by 1:50 a.m.

Call center agent apprehended in Parañaque City for online sexual abuse

Recently in the city of Parañaque, police officers arrested a call center agent for violating the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. It turns out the suspect was one of the most wanted individuals by the police.

A call center agent, identified as one of the Top 5 most wanted individuals at the station level, was nabbed by the Parañaque City Police during a manhunt operation conducted on Monday, November 4 for breaching the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.

According to Southern Police District (SPD) Director, PBrig. Gen. Bernard Yang, the arrest took place at approximately 3:00 p.m. in Barangay Marcelo Green, Parañaque City.

Director Yang further stated that the suspect was taken into custody under a warrant issued by Judge Zandra Tubat Bato of the Imus Cavite Regional Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Branch 22, dated October 1, 2023, with a recommended bail set at ₱200,000.

Have you been to X-Site amusement center inside Festival Mall lately?

In times of prosperity or hardship, Festival Mall (originally named Festival Supermall) in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City continues to attract families and shoppers. Since the mall’s early days in 1998, its amusement center X-Site kept on succeeding on attracting visitors and providing them bouts of varied fun in return to what the customers paid for. X-Site is a lively form of entertainment-focused capitalism that just keeps on moving forward and attracting visitors.

Located at the 3^rd floor (note: officially referred to as the 2^nd Level or 2L or 2^nd Floor by the mall. The 1^st floor and 2^nd floor of the mall are referred to as Lower Ground Floor and Upper Ground Floor respectively), the X-Site Amusement Center has a wide floor space with a high ceiling.

The way it was designed, X-Site has several arcade games (lots of fun retro games included), merchandiser games, a virtual reality ride, KTV booths, motion-sensing dance spot, the ring toss, entertainment stores, indoor sports games, redemption games, bumper cars, and the indoor roller coaster (which explains the need of having a high ceiling). Having a high ceiling made it possible to have an indoor roller coaster (tracks above the machines and people in this image). Other amusement centers in Alabang had lower ceilings which made their places feel small or tight when compared to X-Site.

*This is the place for those who love dancing and music.*

When I was much younger and Festival Mall was still new, I played lots of games at the arcade of X-Site. Elevator Action Returns, Tekken 2, Tekken 3, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament were some of the games I played there as far as I could remember. I never rode the indoor roller coaster because my fondness for roller coasters had faded away even before Festival Mall opened its doors (May 1998).

Back in 1998, I know a few friends whose had not even visited Festival Mall (at the time we talked) yet they already heard of the positive word-of-mouth feedback about the indoor roller coaster of X-Site.

*The indoor roller coaster of X-Site remains a favorite ride for those who kept coming back.*

On December 25, 2023, I visited Festival Mall to look around. I passed by X-Site and I saw an unusually large number of people there composed of young people, children and their parents/guardians.

For the newcomers reading this, December 25 here in the Philippines is a time of having fun during the Christmas season and also it is the day when the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) opens in cinemas. This explains why a lot of people spend time at the shopping malls and it is a cultural thing here in the Philippines.

Considering the fact that the original cinemas of Festival Mall have deteriorated leaving only 2 or 3 screens operating (note: the mall also has modern cinemas at the expanded side), a lot of people still visited the mall to watch the MMFF movies that opened on December 25. As for the large number of people who flocked to X-Site that same day, I can only speculate that some of them might have been moviegoers passing the time as they wait for the next screening of movies to watch.

What to watch on YouTube right now – Part 39

Welcome back, my readers, YouTube viewers and all others who followed this series of articles focused on YouTube videos worth watching. Have you been searching for something fun or interesting to watch on YouTube? Do you feel bored right now and you crave for something to see on the world’s most popular online video destination?

I recommend you check out the following topics and the related videos I found.

#1. Microsoft’s Project Milo – When Microsoft introduced the Kinect motion-sensing device (then called Project Natal) during the 2009 edition of E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), they had Peter Molyneux introduce Project Milo which really intrigued viewers. Even though the video presentation of Project Milo was scripted, it showed its potential as an interactive software using Kinect on Xbox 360. There are lots of details behind the scenes as Project Milo really was a project developed by Lionhead Studios which worked in a limited fashion and ended up never getting released. Watch and learn from the video below.

#2. The story of The Hershey Company and its founder – Do you often eat chocolate bars of Hershey’s? The Hershey Company is gigantic with a global presence of products, billions of Dollars in annual revenue, the operation of Hershey’s Chocolate World and even a theme park of its own called Hersheypark. The Democrats are the problem for Americans – Apart from being a very corrupted political party, the Democrats are guilty of hypocrisy, lying, censorship, and distorting the facts to suit themselves. Now they have Communist Kamala Harris as their candidate for US President and that only means the party wants more of the same negative elements under Joe Biden to continue. #6. Minty Comedic Arts’ Innerspace video – I first saw the 1987 sci-fi adventure movie Innerspace on home video. Starring Dennis Quaid, Martin Short and Meg Ryan, it was an entertaining film that had a nice mix of adventure, comedy and spectacle. Recently, Minty Comedic Arts published a trivia video about it which is fun to watch.

#7. You, Me and the Movies react to Night of the Creeps – Some of you might be aware that I enjoyed watching the 1986 mix-genre film Night of the Creeps. It was the directorial debut of Fred Dekker and it was clever blend of science fiction, horror, 1950s romance, 1980s teen comedy and detective storytelling. Recently You, Me and the Movies posted their video reaction which I find enjoyable.

#8. Beneath the Planet of the Apes examined and analyzed closely – Released in 1970, Beneath the Planet of the Apes was the sequel to the classic film Planet of the Apes. While it is easy to think that the sequel was made simply because the movie studio wanted to make more money by capitalizing on the success of the previous film, there was a lot of developments, twists and even intrigue that happened behind the scenes before filming even started. The two videos below from YouTuber Represent This should be seen and for those who have seen Beneath the Planet of the Apes, it will impact your perception about the movie’s quality and creative direction.

Before I end this post, I should say that the concept of humans evolving from apes is pure fantasy. The scientists and fantasy writers got it all wrong.

#2 A look back at Street Fighter II V (anime) – If you are a long-time gamer like me, chance are, you must have played one of the many games of Street Fighter II. If you have played the games, were you able to watch the short-lived anime series titled Street Fighter II V? Loosely based on Super Street Fighter II Turbo, the anime series started in 1995 and was directed by Gisaburō Sugii who was responsible for the anime movie of 1994. #3 Fox News interview shows Kamala Fit is too dishonest and too out-of-touch to be US President – If there is anything notable with the incumbent United States Vice President Kamala Harris – the one woke candidate the Democrats nominated after pushing Joe Biden out of the way – is that she has a very distorted view of reality and she is very unfit to become US President. Her recent interview with Fox News is the worst yet and the consequences are still being felt as I write this down. Watch the selected videos below to find out.

#4 A look back at Koudelka – During the late stage of the first PlayStation console’s life, Japanese role-playing games (JRPGs) became really popular with gamers in Europe and America. Back in 1999, the role-playing game Koudelka was released on PlayStation in Japan and an international release followed in 2000. That game did not achieve critical acclaim and was never a big seller. As many old-time gamers have forgotten about its existence, Koudelka’s production history is rather intriguing and surprising to discover.

Koudelka was developed by Sacnoth which was founded by former Squaresoft employee Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana, and Soukaigi). To find out why Koudelka had an unusual RPG concept and style of gameplay, I encourage you to watch the retro gaming video below.

#5 More Iranians need Israel’s help – It is a fact that the Islamic regime of Iran has a long record of brutalizing Iranians who do not follow their evil moves. In short, the people of Iran are not their wicked government. That being said, the dissenting Iranians are reaching out to Israel for help in the form of military action against the evil regime. George Romero was hired to make a Resident Evil motion picture – Back in the late 1990s when the Resident Evil game franchise really soared in popularity and became bankable for Capcom, a movie project was approved and the late George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow) was hired to write and direct it. It should be noted that Capcom hired Romero to make the Resident Evil 2 commercial which became very popular and contributed to the game’s big success. Eventually, Romero’s drafts of the script got rejected and Constantin Film replaced him with Paul W. S. Anderson resulting in the 2002 Resident Evil movie.

#7. China’s Bonnie and Clyde – Have you been following the YouTube channel Dark Asia with Megan? Every week, there is always a new episode about true crime stories that took place within Asia and the host Megan is often great with her presentation and she clearly does a lot of research. Recently an episode about China’s very own Bonnie and Clyde was released. I saw it and it is very intriguing to watch. For the newcomers reading this, Bonnie and Clyde refers to real-life American bandits and serial killers who caused a lot of trouble from 1931 to 1934. Hollywood even released a movie in 1967 glorifying them. As for who exactly were China’s Bonnie and Clyde, and what had they done, I encourage you to watch Dark Asia with Megan’s episode below.

Kamala Harris supporter shouts at toddler – Going back to the 2024 US Presidential campaign, a supporter of Communist Kamala Harris (the US Vice President since 2021) was caught on camera yelling at and traumatizing a toddler. I know for a fact that liberals, Leftists, Marxists, socialists and woke Americans can be quite wild but the die-hard Kamala supporter who screamed at the toddler clearly has crossed the line. Kamala Harris got booed at her own campaign rally! – The presidential campaign of Commie Kamala Harris is clearly failing not only because the opinion polls – most of which are Left-leaning and oversampling Democrat voters – are showing her falling further behind Donald Trump but also because unfortunate events have been happening at her campaign rallies. The new embarrassment this time is Harris getting booed at her own campaign rally! Watch the videos below.
