What to watch on YouTube right now – Part 103

Welcome back my readers, YouTube viewers and all others who followed this series of articles focused on YouTube videos worth watching. Have you been searching for something fun or interesting to watch on YouTube? Do you feel bored right now and you crave for something to see on the world’s most popular online video destination?

I recommend you check out the following videos I found.

Behind the Scenes of the Tokaido Shinkansen in Japan – I have been to Osaka and Tokyo when I traveled to Japan, but I never had the opportunity to ride the train connecting to both cities. Recently, I spotted this really information and captivating Nippon TV video about the Tokaido Shinkansen which is the high-speed rail line that connects Tokyo with Osaka. The video looks at the operators of the train, why their work involves a lot of precision and what is done to maintain the rail line. I encourage you to watch the video now!

Japanese steak, rice and more – While I ate in several places in Japan during the few visits I made there, I don’t ever remember eating steak there. Recently, I found this video by the Japanese Food Noodles channel which focused on a certain food joint in Japan that specializes on steak. In fact, it is eat-all-you-can steak with rice or some other food. There is a lot to learn here from how to cook steak, how to operate a restaurant, how to keep customers satisfied, and more.

#3 GoodBadFlicks examines cartoons based on video games – Remember decades ago in America when there were these cartoon shows on TV that were based on video game properties? As a kid, I saw several cartoon shows based on video games and they were mostly fun to watch. You can discover more and you might have fun watching the recent video by GoodBadFlicks posted below.

Reaction videos about Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining  – Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of the late movie director Stanley Kubrick. I’m not a fan of Stephen King as well. Believe it or not, the two were not aligned with each other when 1980’s The Shining was released in cinemas. Based on King’s novel, the movie was essentially Kubrick’s very own version and he had his creative touch all over it. While King was very turned-off with the cinematic version (which had a younger Jack Nicholson), many moviegoers and film buffs enjoyed Kubrick’s version a lot. It is not surprising that the 1980 film is the subject of multiple videos in YouTube. You can see how The Shining movie impacts YouTubers by watching the selected videos below.

Rhetorical Thrill reacts to Excalibur  – I can hardly believe I first saw Excalibur on local TV way back in 1988. Fifteen years later, I saw it on home video and eventually bought my first-ever DVD copy of it some years later. Having replayed Excalibur as an adult, I eventually recognized the established actors like Helen Mirren, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart. After checking out recent reaction videos of Excalibur on YouTube, I found the video by Rhetorical Thrill actually entertaining to watch. I encourage you to watch her video below.

The Dazed, the Dumb and the Delusional from the Leftists – Now for some serious stuff. The Satanic Left always have extremists who are delusional, dumb, dazed, and even evil without realizing it. Democrats and their fellow Leftists have so much wokeness, they lost their touch with reality and they cannot realize how wrong they are. The recent edition of Lefties Losing It hosted by Rita Panahi posted below will show you exactly what I mean. Enjoy!

With the huge spotlight on electric bikes (e-bikes) and electric tricycles (e-trikes) in recent times here in the Philippines, it is clear that such vehicles have caused public disturbances and already local and national authorities are working in response to them. Within the city of Manila, an incident happened recently as an e-trike driver, who caught the attention of the local police with illegal parking, got arrested after cursing the police, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

LTO considering mandatory registration of all types of e-bikes

Did you notice electronic/electric bikes (e-bikes) traveling a lot on major roads in cities and causing traffic congestion (due to slow speed and weak acceleration) or even road accidents? Was there an e-bike that sparked a fire in your residential community? Things might change a lot for owners/users of e-bikes as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it is considering mandatory registration of all e-bikes, according to a GMA Network news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the GMA news report. Some parts in boldface…

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? Do you think it is high time to implement the mandatory registration of all e-bikes nationwide as well as the requirement for e-bike drivers to have driver’s licenses? Considering the slow speed and weak acceleration of e-bikes, do you think they should be banned from traveling on major roads?

LTO suspends license of jeepney driver responsible for hitting a woman in Parañaque City

A few days ago, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) suspended for ninety days the license of the jeepney driver who was held responsible for hitting a woman who crossed the pedestrian lane in Parañaque City, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). It is recalled that the said driver as well as owner of the jeepney were summoned by the LTO.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the PNA news report. Some parts in boldface…

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday suspended the license of a jeepney driver who hit a woman crossing a pedestrian lane in Parañaque City in December.

In a statement, the LTO said driver Leonilo Aque has received a 90-day preventive suspension of his driver’s license.

“Kasunod ito ng pag-amin ng drayber ng jeep na si Leonilo Aque na nabundol nito ang babaeng tumatawid matapos na hindi agad makapagpreno (This is after Aque admitted to having struck a woman crossing the street after he failed to apply brakes on time),” the LTO said.

The incident recorded through a closed-circuit television showed a woman who was suddenly struck by a jeepney while crossing a pedestrian lane.

Aque and the owner of the jeepney were issued a show cause order on Dec. 22, 2022, and were summoned to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on Dec. 28.

They were summoned for violation of DOTC Joint Administrative Order 2014-01 or “failure to yield right of way for pedestrian crossing” and Republic Act 4136 on reckless driving and being an “improper person to operate a vehicle.”

“During the hearing, Mr. Aque affirmed that he is the assigned driver of the subject motor vehicle and admitted that he hit/bumped a pedestrian during the incident. Thus, his professional driver’s license is hereby preventively suspended,” the LTO said.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo “Jay Art” Tugade warned motorists, especially drivers of public transport, that it is within their responsibility to keep the roads safe.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? Do you consider Parañaque a hot spot for traffic incidents involving jeepneys? Do you think the 90-day suspension by the LTO is sufficient?

LTO summons jeepney driver accused of hitting pedestrian in Parañaque City, jeepney owner summoned too

In Parañaque City, there was a traffic incident that occurred when a woman got hit by a public transport jeepney while crossing the pedestrian lane. The incident was caught on CCTV video and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the driver and jeepney owner to appear at the Intelligence and Investigation off on December 28, 2022, according to a Philippine Daily Inquirer news report.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Inquirer news report. Some parts in boldface…

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday said it issued a show cause order against the jeepney driver that rammed a crossing individual in Parañaque City.

According to the LTO, the driver and the jeepney owner were summoned and are expected to appear at its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) office on December 28, Wednesday, at 10 am.

Both individuals were also required to submit a written explanation of why they should not be charged with the administrative case of Employing Reckless Driver in accordance with the DOTC Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01.

The jeepney driver should also explain why cases of Failure to Yield Right of Way for Pedestrian Crossing (pursuant to DOTC JAO No. 2014-01) and Reckless Driving (pursuant to Section 48 of Republic Act 4136) should not be filed against him, and why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked for being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle which is also stated in RA 4136.

The passenger jeep’s license plate and the driver’s license are now on alert due to the incident that injured the pedestrian, preventing any transactions while the investigation is ongoing.

The owner and driver of the jeep will forfeit their right to tell their side of the story and have the complaint decided using the LTO’s evidence if they fail to show up when the IID summons them.

This developed after the LTO, through a CCTV video, caught the incident, which showed a woman crossing a pedestrian lane suddenly get hit by a public jeepney. The incident occurred last week, but the LTO did not specify the exact date.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? Are you concerned that there could be a lot of reckless drivers among the public transport jeepney drivers who drive regularly through Parañaque City every day?

NLEX toll rates hike in effect today (May 12, 2022)

If you are planning to travel along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) very soon, you better adjust your travel-related budget as toll rates on the said highway have been raised effective today – May 12, 2022 – according to the details of a recent report published by GMA Network news based on the recent statement issued by the NLEX Corp.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the GMA Network news report. Some parts in boldface…

NLEX Corp., the operator of North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), on Tuesday announced it will increase its toll rates starting Thursday, May 12, 2022.

In a statement, NLEX Corp. said the Toll Regulatory Board gave the company the green light to hike its toll by P2.00 in the open system and P0.34 per kilometer in the closed system.

Under the adjusted toll rates, motorists traveling anywhere within the open system will pay an additional P2.00 for Class 1 vehicles (regular cars and SUVs), P6.00 for Class 2 vehicles (buses and small trucks), and P8.00 for Class 3 vehicles.

NLEX Corp. said the open system is from Balintawak, Caloocan City to Marilao, Bulacan while the closed system covers the portion between Bocaue, Bulacan and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga including Subic-Tipo.

Meanwhile, those traveling the NLEX end-to-end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City will pay an additional P27.00 for Class 1, P69.00 for Class 2 and P82.00 for Class 3 vehicles.

“To help cushion the impact of the toll increase, public utility jeepneys (PUJs) under the NLEX Passada and Tsuper Card discount and rebate program will continue to enjoy the old rates,” the company said.

“Provincial buses will also be covered by a graduated rebate scheme for a period of three months,” it added.

NLEX Corp. said the adjustments followed regulatory procedures and underwent thorough review.

The toll adjustment is also part of the approved periodic adjustments of NLEX due in 2016 and the completion of the new Subic Freeport Expressway (SFEX) in 2021.

Motorists have been enjoying safer and more comfortable journeys brought about by the new SFEX since it was partially opened in December 2020 and fully completed in February 2021. A total of 16.4 new lane kilometers, two new bridges in Jadjad and Argonaut, and a new tunnel were constructed for this infrastructure project,” the company said.

The tollway company said it spent P6.9 billion to complete several major projects and enhancements at NLEX-SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) since 2015 that “improved the region’s landscape, increased accessibility, enhanced safety and provided travel convenience to motorists.”

“To name a few, these include the expansion of San Fernando Interchange; the new toll lanes in Marilao, Bocaue, Tipo, Balintawak, Meycauayan, and Mindanao; the pavement upgrade at NLEX; the new exits in Meycauayan and Valenzuela and entry in Balagtas; the rehabilitation of bridges in Bigaa, Bocaue, and Meycauayan; and the improvement of drainages in Balintawak, Valenzuela, and Meycauayan; retrofitting of San Simon and Sta. Rita bridges,” it said.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: Do you often travel along the NLEX? When was the last time you experienced a heavily congested trip along the NLEX?
