Man from Iloilo arrested in Parañaque City over rape charge

Recently in Parañaque City, local police officers armed with a warrant of arrest apprehended a man from Iloilo who is wanted for rape and has been hiding for some time, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The Parañaque police officers executed the arrest in coordination with the police station operatives of Maasin, Iloilo.

A rape suspect in Maasin, Iloilo who went into hiding for two years was arrested by members of the Parañaque City Police during the conduct of manhunt operation against wanted person on Saturday, March 15.

The Southern Police District identified the suspect as alias “Joebert,” 47, a construction worker and a resident of Makati City. He was arrested at Roxas Boulevard (Service) Road, Barangay Baclaran, Parañaque City.

According to the police report, Joebert, who was listed as Top 4 most wanted person at the provincial level, was spotted by members of the Baclaran Police Substation, leading to his arrest in coordination with the Maasin Police Station Intelligence Operatives.

The police said Joebert was arrested by warrant of arrest issued by Judge Gemalyn Faunillo Tarol, of Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 76, Janiuay, Iloilo on September 26, 2023, with no bail recommended for two counts of Violation of Republic Act 8353 or the Anti-Rape Law of 1997.

Recently in the City of Parañaque, local police officers armed with a warrant arrested a delivery rider over the charge of rape against him, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. For some time now, the suspect was one of the most wanted persons by the local police station.

A delivery rider was arrested for rape by members of the Parañaque City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) during a manhunt operation against wanted criminals on Feb. 13.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as alias “Patrick,” 21, and tagged as Top 6 most wanted person under the station level. He was arrested on Fourth Estate, Parañaque City.

Patrick was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Moises Domingo De Castro of the Parañaque City Family Court Branch 10 on Feb. 6.

LTFRB launches investigation on transport network vehicle service company over the Parañaque City robbery-and-rape of Vietnamese woman

In response to the robbery and rape of a Vietnamese woman who availed of a private transportation service in Parañaque City, the and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) launched an investigation and could penalize Grab Philippines, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news report.

It should be recalled that the victim was dropped off in Barangay San Dionisio where she reported to the police who in turn arrested the suspect driver in Laguna. The driver’s accomplice has yet to be caught as of this writing. The suspect driver admitted to the crime that happened.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has launched an investigation into the alleged robbery and sexual assault against a Vietnamese national and is eyeing sanctions against transport network vehicle service (TNVS) company Grab Philippines.

In a statement on Wednesday, LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III said a letter was sent to Grab asking to explain what transpired during the incident. Grab has five days to explain before the LTFRB decides on the case.

“Puwede ho naming ma-suspend ‘yung kanilang app for at least 30 days sa first offense po, kung makita mang may kapabayaan po, pero ‘yan po ay gagawin namin ‘yan as a matter of due process (We can suspend their app for at least 30 days as a first offense, if we see negligence. But we will do that as part of due process),” Guadiz said.

Aside from suspension, the company may also face fines if found negligent. Possible sanctions will be enacted after the investigation.

To date, the LTFRB has filed a police report to validate the facts of the case, has written to Grab, and has also reached out to the victim to get her side of the story.

“Mag-iimbestiga kami definitely and then kung sino nga po yung may kasalanan, mananagot po (We will definitely investigate and whoever is found guilty, they will be held accountable),” he said.

He called on the public to be cautious in using ride-hailing apps and to inform a trusted person about the details of their trip.

“Always verify the driver’s identity, share your trip details with a trusted person, and stay alert throughout the journey to ensure your safety,” he said.

On Sept. 5, a Vietnamese woman was allegedly robbed and raped during a ride with a TNVS service in Parañaque City.

The woman was said to have been driven around by the driver and they were later joined in the vehicle by an accomplice. The accomplice threatened the victim with a knife and took PHP35,000 in cash before the sexual assault.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a woman from Vietnam who availed of a private transportation service was held against her will, robbed and raped, according to a GMA Network news report. The driver of the vehicle got arrested while the other suspect remains free and on the loose.

A Vietnamese woman was allegedly held up and raped during a ride hailing service after booking a ride last September 5 in Paranaque City.

In Nico Waje’s report in Saksi on Monday, CCTV footage showed that a ride-hailing service car entered into a subdivision in Paranaque City to pick up the foreigner at around 4 a.m. of Thursday last week.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said that the 32-year-old victim was robbed inside the vehicle by the driver’s accomplice.

“Pinaikot-ikot siya nitong ating suspek na driver. Tapos mayroon din pong sumakay na isa pang kasabwat nitong ating driver,” said SPD Public Information Office chief Police Major Hazel Asilo.

(The driver just drove around in circles. Then another man, his accomplice, suddenly boarded the car.)

At knife point, the accomplice took P35,000 in cash from the woman, the report said. Police added the victim was sexually assaulted by the suspects.

“Matapos siyang nakawan, kuhain ‘yung kaniyang pera at saka ‘yung kanyang cellphone ay ginahasa rin po ‘yung ating Vietnamese na victim. So bago po siya maibaba ay nanakawan na siya at nagahasa pa siya,” said Asilo.

(After her money and cellphone was taken from her, the Vietnamese victim was also raped. So before she was dropped off, she was robbed and raped.)

The victim was dropped off at Barangay San Dionisio in Paranaque City where she reported the incident to police. The driver suspect was arrested in Cabuyao, Laguna in a follow-up operation last September 7.

“Umako naman po siya sa mga ginawa nila…modus na po ito nitong ating mga suspek. Although ilang beses na nilang nagawa, hindi po sila nahuhuli dahil wala pong nare-report,” said Asilo.

(He admitted to their crimes…they’ve been doing this modus for a long time. They’ve done this several times, but they were never caught because no one was reporting them.)

When confronted, the driver said that it was his accomplice who raped the victim, which the latter also confirmed.

A 55 year-old man was arrested by members of the Parañaque city Police Warrant and Subpoena Section and Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) for statutory rape and rape by sexual assault on Friday, July 26, the Southern Police District (SPD) said.

The suspect was identified as “Hipolito,” who was arrested in Quirino Avenue, Barangay Don Galo, Parañaque City.

The police said the suspect was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Moises D. De Castro of Parañaque City Family Court, Branch 10 on June 4, 2024 with no bail recommended bail.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, the local police pulled off a successful entrapment operation resulting in the arrest of a man for rape and robbery extortion, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

A call center agent was arrested by members of the Southern Police District Special Operations Unit (SPD-SOU) during an entrapment operation in Parañaque City, on Friday, July 19.

Authorities identified the suspect as alias Edward,25, he was arrested at around 1:30 a.m. at Annex 35, Parañaque City after a complaint of rape and robbery extortion was referred by Secretary of Interior and Local Government Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos.

According to the Police report, the victim, a 19-year-old female student met the suspect through an online dating application and after establishing several communications they agreed to meet.

The victim told the police that the suspect allegedly raped her and demanded a large amount of money in exchange for not posting her sensitive photographs on social media.

The SPD said that after receiving the report, they immediately conducted an entrapment operation in collaboration with the victim and her father which led to the arrest of the suspect.

A tricycle driver who was tagged by the police as a top most wanted person was arrested in Muntinlupa on June 28.

The Muntinlupa Police identified the arrested suspect as alias Maiko, 36, listed as the top most wanted person by the Muntinlupa Police for the third quarter of the year. Maiko was arrested at about 12:05 a.m. in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa.

He was arrested by personnel from the Muntinlupa Police’s Warrant and Subpoena Unit based on several warrants issued by Presiding Judge Wehrly Gutierrez-Mendez of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 8-Family Court on June 14.

The suspect is facing charges including acts of lasciviousness and lascivious conduct with recommended bail of P180,000, and qualified rape with recommended bail of P200,000.

#1 Larry Bird’s memorable big game of 1992 – If you love American basketball and the modern day NBA does not appeal much to you, then you should go back to the year 1992 when the legendary Larry Bird had his last big game before retiring. During his final years in the NBA, aging and a serious back injury hounded Bird as he kept on leading the Boston Celtics. In March 1992, the Celtics hosted the strong Portland Trailblazers and this was the game when Larry Bird scored 49 points and even registered a triple-double at the age of 35. That being said, watch the highlight video below…

#2 Score PN’s Terminator 3: Before The Rise video – Score PN, a YouTube channel that is best known for its in-depth videos about the Resident Evil entertainment franchise, also produced videos related to The Terminator. Back in 2003, Arnold Schwarzenegger had a big cinematic comeback with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines which I saw inside the cinema when it opened here in the Philippines. Back then, I was not even aware that a prequel comic book limited series of Terminator 3 was published and Score PN has a video about it which you can watch below. By the way, Score PN also produced videos about comic book adaptations of Batman movies which I highlighted previously.

#3 Vizconde Massacre explanatory videos – Previously, I included Viva’s video showing the entire 1995 movie The Jessica Alfaro Story. For the newcomers reading this, Jessica Alfaro (played in the movie by Alice Dixson) was the star witness of the trial of the shocking Vizconde Massacre and it took her around four years to come out publicly. For legal reasons, The Jessica Alfaro Story film made alterations (creative liberties) to make a reference to the massacre without the Vizconde name. That being said, if you want to know more about the Vizconde Massacre of 1991, the trial that happened and the big decision the Supreme Court made in 2010, then you should watch these two explanatory videos. The third one analyzes the legal aspect of 2010 Supreme Court decision related to the massacre.

#4 RoboCop 2 reaction videos plus arcade/console game documentary – Back in 1990, my friends and I got to watch RoboCop 2 inside the movie theater here in the Philippines and almost all the seats were filled at the time. While the movie was not memorable as it never came close to matching the uniqueness and cultural impact of the 1987 original RoboCop, it still managed to entertain enough people who eventually became fans. Like its predecessor, RoboCop 2 also had game adaptations for the arcade and consoles. Watch the videos below…

#5 A look at the history of Area 51 arcade/console games – Back in the mid-1990s, Area 51 by Atari was a huge hit in the arcades in the West and was perceived as a comeback for the said company. Area 51 was so successful, it prevented Atari from falling into financial disaster and versions of the game were released for Windows PC, PlayStation and Sega Saturn. #6 Stand by Me movie reaction videos plus trivia video – If you are fond of movies based on the writings of Stephen King, then Stand by Me (1986) should have been part of your watch list a long time ago. It was an acclaimed coming-of-age film directed by Rob Reiner and has been described by some as one of the most defining movies of the 1980s. #7 The liar and manipulator Abby Martin crushed by son of Hamas! – It is very sickening that there are still people here in this world who chose to be evil and do the works of Satan. I am talking about Abby Martin, a self-declared journalist who is actually a liar and manipulator. Do not let her good looks and media style fool you. Abby Martin constantly condemns the nation of Israel as she clearly took sides with the terrorists and supports the Palestinian agenda of wiping out the Jewish state. She might as well be working with wicked leaders of Iran. Watch this video of Abby Martin getting crushed by the son of Hamas. Remember that Abby Martin is clearly working with the terrorists and murderers. Never let Abby Martin poison your minds!

#8 The disappointing interview with the Xbox president – Since early this year, gamers’ trust in Xbox weakened due to unexpected developments such as Microsoft deciding to release four Xbox-exclusive games to other consoles. Since then, a lot of Xbox fans have been speculating that in due time Xbox itself will change for the worse and eventually end to pave the way for Microsoft to become a multi-platform game publisher. That being said, the downward trend of Xbox continued as four of its game studios – Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, Roundhouse Studios and Arkane Studios – were suddenly shut down which sent shockwaves throughout the industry and attracted negativity to Xbox. Not only that, there was this very disappointing interview with Xbox president Sarah Bond which made things worse. A man wanted for statutory rape was arrested by members of the Parañaque police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) early Friday, May 3.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect was identified as Jomari “Joms” Alano, 28.

Based on the report submitted to Parañaque Police Chief Col. Reycon Garduque, the suspect tagged as the Top 6 wanted person, was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. in Barangay Sto. Nino, Parañaque City.

Garduque said the suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Moises Domingo De Castro of Parañaque City Family Court, Branch 10 on November 13, 2023 with no bail recommended.

Wanted man arrested in Parañaque City over rape charges

Recently in the city of Parañaque, local law enforcers armed with a warrant of arrest apprehended a man in Barangay San Dionisio in relation to charges of four counts of rape, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The suspect has since been detained at a local police facility.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

A courier facing charges for four counts of rape was arrested by members of the Parañaque City police Warrant and Subpoena Unit (WSU) on Monday, Feb. 5.

The Southern Police District reported the arrest of alias Arnold, 32, tagged by the police as the No. 1 wanted person under station level at around 2:15 p.m. along Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City. 

Members of the WSU arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Moises Domingo De Castro of Family Court Branch 10, Parañaque City, on Jan. 17, 2024, for four counts of rape.

De Castro recommended a bail of P200,000 for each count.
