1st Mayor Ruffy Biazon Swim Cup attracts over 1,000 swimmers

Recently in the progressive City of Muntinlupa, the 1st Mayor Ruffy Biazon Swim Cup was held at the Muntinlupa Aquatic Center and it easily attracted over a thousand swimmers who engaged in varied contests, according to a Manila Standard news report. The big reception of the event – which was attended by Mayor Ruffy Biazon, Congressman Jaime Fresnedi and a lot of other notable officials – could be the first of many signs that Muntinlupa City will emerge as a hot spot for swimming and other aquatic events as far as Philippine sports development is concerned. The next aquatic event in Muntinlupa will happen a few days from now.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Standard news report. Some parts in boldface…

A record number of 1,200 swimmers participated in the 1st Mayor Ruffy Biazon Swim Cup on Saturday at the newly built Muntinlupa Aquatic Center in Muntinlupa City.

The organizing Swim League Philippines, headed by president Fred Ancheta, said the listup has already reached the maximum number of entries (700) as early as last week, but due to insistent public demand from swim clubs and organizations and after consultation with the city administration, the registration was extended further.

Equipped with modern equipment under FINA world standards, the Muntinlupa Aquatic Center is expected to be the center of swimming competitions from clubs based in the South.

This early, Ancheta said the Office of the Mayor is expected to sign a memorandum of agreement to make the center the official home of the SLP swimmers and its affiliated clubs and organizations.

“We’re grateful with Mayor Ruffy Biazon for hosting this event. With the enthusiasm from swimmers, coaches and parents to be part of this historic opening of the world-class swimming pool in Muntinlupa, the number of participants reached more than what we expected,” said Ancheta.

Sa sobrang tuwa ni Mayor Ruffy Biazon he will host another event. Those who wish to compete at the Muntinlupa Aquatic Center, you may join The Holiday Swim Cup on December 10, 2022,” added Ancheta.

As posted in the Facebook page of the City Government of Muntinlupa, the lists of awardees per category were listed as follows…

Tahanan Homeowners Association (THA) Announces Adjustments Regarding The Use of Community Swimming Pool

Through the June 29, 2019 edition of their official bulletin – Tahanan Flash – the Tahanan Homeowners Association (THA) announced some adjustments related to the use of the community swimming pool which is just outside their office at the village clubhouse in Tahanan Village, Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque City.

20190702_140829.jpg
The Tahanan Village community swimming pool.

The THA stated that their Board of Directors (now headed by their president Aurora Beatriz L. Sarmiento) decided to implement key changes such as the rate of P250 per guest/per usage for guests (described as friends and relatives who are not residents of the village) when it comes to using the pool. For the residents, the rate it still set at P60 per resident/per usage.

With regards to regulating the use of the pool, the THA will exert its best effort to limit the number of swimmers to twenty (20) people in any given point in time.

Groups composed of ten (10) people must advise the THA office of the use of the pool two days before the scheduled use. This is meant to regulate crowding.

In ending their statement, the THA said: There will also be days we need to close down the pool due to water shortage. We also ask those who have swimming pools to do the same thing during times of water crisis. Please monitor our village boards and Facebook account for announcements.

To contact the THA, call 842-5955 or visit their Facebook page.

If you wish to explore more regarding Tahanan Village, try visiting the Tahanan Village Facebook group.

Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri Images and Some Details (June 9, 2019)

Hi sports fans! The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri happened this morning at the very modern Vermosa Sports Hub located along Daang Hari in Imus City, Cavite.

20190609_070415.jpg

Organized by Bike King in cooperation with Vermosa Sports Hub with the support of sponsors Blackmores Philippines, Smart, hydration partners Pocari Sweat and Sip Purified Water, and official timer Garmin, the event was, as expected, successful. Participants and their respective family members or friends enjoyed the event and, as usual, the awarding ceremony was fun as before.

For you viewing pleasure, here are some action shots. Just click to ENLARGE.

Below are the other images…the awarding ceremony pics. Just click an image to ENLARGE.

The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri was the latest sports event to take place at the Vermosa Sports Hub which is the nation’s first one-stop training complex catering to athletes competing in international sporting events and serious sports enthusiasts.

The facility has a 50-meter swimming pool based on FINA (International Swimming Federation) standards and the country’s only International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF)-certified 400m track oval, a complete indoor training facility, and the 600-sq,m. Sante Fitness Lab, staffed by expert coaches, trainers, and visiting sports institutes.

Vermosa Sports Hub is an Ayala Land Development borne out of emerging trends: the rise in health consciousness and growing interest in multisport.

“People are spending more time and money to engage in physical activities, specifically sports,” says Ayala Land Vice President and Vermosa estate head Jay Teodoro. “We wanted to provide a venue for training for this market. Our bigger vision also is to provide a training venue for the next Philippine champion.”

The complete race results and lists of winners will be made available by Bike King here. Wait and it will come.
