1,000,000 hits worldwide and growing!

Hello, everyone! A major milestone happened today and I am deeply thankful to our Lord for it.

I am delighted to share with you all that my blog and website (Author Carlo Carrasco) surpassed one million hits (page views) worldwide today and the count is only growing! More than 1,000,000 hits counted along with over 706,000 visitors from around the world counted by my service provider. For transparency, I posted below the screenshot I captured.

Surpassing the 1,000,000 hits mark is a major achievement for me personally and this made me look back at late 2018 when, after much research and getting advise from a close friend of mine, I decided to sign up with WordPress.com to start making my blog/website. After some struggling and learning the functions, I completed the general structure and officially launched my site on the afternoon of January 4, 2019.

I can say that my website is a part of my life. Since launch, I published lots of posts about the following:

Sharing my observations about what happened locally and overseas.
Magnifying local developments of South Metro Manila as well as news updates (both local and foreign) that I find relevant to share with you readers.
Publishing mostly retro reviews of comic books, movies, video games and other entertainment stuff.
Preaching the Word of God through bible teachings, through my Christian Music Appreciation (CMA) posts and through certain features or news developments (notably about Israel) that I posted.
Emphasizing the state of Israel, the truth that God designated the land of Israel to the Jewish people, the truth that the ties between Jews and Christians are biblical, the truth that Lord Jesus lived as a Jewish man and made ways for people to find salvation, and sharing the significance of the Holy Land through my Israel 2023 tour special features.
The occasional sports events and the developments that are significant with regards to our nation.
YouTube videos that need to be seen.
Local community developments from the local government units (LGUs) down to the residential communities.

My website and blog will keep continuing with updates for you and for readers from around the world. It is my intention to keep blogging until the end of my natural life. I will keep preaching God’s Word, post relevant updates, blog about my Holy Land experience, featuring something or someone new, and more.

Muntinlupa City wins prestigious nutrition awards

Recently the City Government of Muntinlupa won prestigious awards during the 2024 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony which took place in Quezon City, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government bagged awards at the 2024 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony organized by the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-National Capital Region on Aug. 16 at the Novotel Hotel in Quezon City.

According to NNC-NCR, Muntinlupa LGU “has been recognized as 1st Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Contender!”

The “prestigious award is presented to LGUs that demonstrate efficient and effective nutrition program management, leading to sustained nutrition improvements among their population.”

“We successfully maintained our CROWN (Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition) Contender status for the first year—patunay na consistent tayo sa mahusay na implementation ng ating nutrition programs and services since our first Green Banner Award in 2019 (proof that we are consistent in great implementation of our nutrition programs and services since our first Green Banner Award in 2019),” according to Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

In addition, Muntinlupa was bestowed the award for Best in Documentation of Nutrition Programs, “acknowledging their exemplary performance in documenting nutrition programs and projects which contributed to high-quality nutrition program management.”

Muntinlupa’s Dr. Magdalena Meana also won runner-up as the Regional Outstanding City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO).

Biazon, meanwhile, received the Nutrition Leadership Award as chairperson of the Muntinlupa City Nutrition Committee.

“These awards reflect our dedication to keeping our community healthy,” said Biazon.

Muntinlupa City government congratulates its 2024 Palarong Pambansa medalists

Recently in the City of Muntinlupa, the City Government congratulated via social media their local athletes who won medals in the recent 2024 Palarong Pambansa which was held in Cebu with the National Capital Region (NCR) as the overall champion with 98 gold medals, 66 silver medals and 74 bronze medals.

The recognized gold medalists of Muntinlupa at the Palarong Pambansa were Maxine Amira Filiciano Bondoc and Avielle Paduit Caballes in the Gymnastics Elementary Girls category, Alessandra Therese A. Martin in the Swimming Elementary Girls category, and the team of De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in the Baseball Secondary Boys category.

The Muntinlupa silver medalists recognized were Jobelle Mitch De Sisto Villanueva and Krista Joy Chavez Tabios in the Arnis Secondary Girls category, and Avielle Paduit Caballes and Maxine Amira Filiciano Bondoc in the Gymnastics Elementary Girls category.

The bronze medalists were Hernalou E. Lumandao and Pi Durden Forward Wangkay in the Athletics Secondary Boys category, Avielle Paduit Caballes in the Gymnastics Elementary Girls category and Ma. Ana Therese V. Gomobao in the Table Tennis Secondary Girls category.

The Las Piñas City National Senior High School – Doña Josefa Campus held its 7th Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 29th, at the SM Southmall Events Hall. City Vice Mayor April Aguilar graced the occasion, celebrating the academic achievements of the graduating students.

John Chicano wins Powerman Malaysia 2024 elite male duathlon gold medal, teammates win medals for Philippines

UPDATED June 11, 2024 – Actual race distance clarified to me by John Chicano and verified with Powerman Malaysia’s website. The official distance of the Elite Male contest is 10 Km run – 60 Km bike – 10 Km run. The Manila Bulletin got the race distance wrong.

Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) multi-medalist John Chicano led the Philippines to the top of the Powerman Malaysia 2024 by winning the gold medal of the Elite Male contest yesterday which was an improvement over last year’s race, according to a Manila Bulletin sports news report. Chicano also has teammates who won medals as well. The official results can be viewed by clicking here.

John Chicano avenged his runner-up finish last year by capturing the gold medal in the 2024 Powerman Malaysia duathlon race in Dataran Putrajaya over the weekend.

Chicano, a double gold medalist at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, navigated the 10-kilometer run, 40km bike, 5km run endurance race with a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes and 48 seconds to beat teammate John Patrick Ciron and dethrone last year’s champion Moysan Malo of France.

Ciron settled for the silver medal with a time of 2:47:15, while Malo crossed the finish line a few seconds later with 2:47:34 to settle for the bronze medal.

After checking in the same time with Ciron in the first run leg, Chicano slowly pulled away in the bike leg and led by five minutes heading into the final run leg. He maintained his pace to finish two minutes faster than his previous time last year.

In the distaff side, Merry Joy Trupa bagged the bronze medal after clocking 3:19:17 behind gold medalist Rendy Williams of the United States, who timed 3:09:34, and hometown bet Esther Joy Hong Li Chen, who finished with 3:13:35 for the silver medal.

Japan wins NTT Asia Triathlon ParaTriathlon Asian Championships 2024 gold medals at Subic Bay

Japan won several gold medals across different contests during the NTT Asia Triathlon ParaTriathlon Asian Championships 2024 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone this past weekend.

Japan bagged six gold medals in the 2024 NTT Asia Triathlon Para Championships at the Waterfront and Boardwalk inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on June 2.

Tsutomo Nagata ruled the men’s PTS5 category in 1:08:31, while compatriots Takumi Nagata (1:13:25) and Tetsuki Kaji (1:14:59) settled for second and third places, respectively.

Satoru Yoneoka claimed victory in the men’s PTVI, clocking 1:03:53 to beat compatriots Yosuke Yamada (1:04:49) and Junpei Hoshi (1:05:29).

In the women’s PTS2 category, Yukako Hata (1:24:46) defeated fellow Japanese Asumi Yasuda (1:33:58) for the gold medal.

The other gold medalists were Kimura Jumpei (men’s PTWC), Mami Tani (women’s PTS4) and Riyo Kogama (women’s PTS5).

Meanwhile, four-time Paralympian Jiachao Wang of China ruled the men’s PTS4 category in 1:06:39.

Japanese Keiya Kaneko (1:12:30) placed second followed by Filipino Alex Silverio (1:15:55) in the 750m swim (one lap), 20km bike (2 laps) and 5km run (2 laps) competition organized by Triathlon Philippines (TriPhil) in partnership with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and sanctioned by the Asia Triathlon and World Triathlon.

The 32-year-old Wang from Kunming, Yunnan province finished the race trouble-free. His left arm was amputated after an accident when he was five.

“I’m happy to win. This is my first time to compete here, the weather is hot and humid,” said Wang, who won medals in the pool in three Paralympic Games before shifting to triathlon nine years ago.

After making his debut in Athens (2004), he scooped one silver (200m individual medley) and one bronze (400m freestyle) medals in Beijing (2008).

Wang captured the gold medal in the men’s 4x100m medley relay and got two silvers (4x100m individual medley and 4x100m freestyle relay) at the 2012 London Paralympics.

Wang, who placed fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, has completed the World Triathlon Level 2 coach certification course in South Korea last May 23.

Despite his bronze medal performance, Silverio was satisfied.

“I did not expect a podium finish because there are many good athletes in my category,” said the 34-year-old native of Compostela town in Cebu. He continued to train right after winning the gold medal at the Subic Bay International Triathlon last month.

“I am so happy that I was able to get a medal now,” said Silverio, who also joined the 2018 edition of the Asia Triathlon Para Championships in Legazpi City, Albay.

Silverio, a gold medalist at the National Age Group Triathlon last February, is a member of the Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group (TLTG) Go For Gold Philippines team.

In the men’s PTS2 category, Filipino Edison Badilla (1:35:36) defeated compatriot Jake Lacaba (1:41:18).

South Korea’s Kim Hwang Tae (1:27:13) beat Filipino Raul Angoluan (1:31:31) in the men’s PTS3), while Kyrgysztan’s Aitunuk Zhoomart Kyzy (1:21:38) prevailed over compatriot Gulnaz Zhuzbaeva (1:23:25) in the women’s PTVI category of the event sponsored by Philippine Sports Commission, Pinay in Action, Asian Center for Insulation, Gatorade (official hydration), Standard Insurance and Western Guaranty Inc., and partners Subic Bay Travelers Hotel, CM Timing of Jay Cheng and Stat Med ambulance service.

Young Jiu-jitsu gold medalist welcomed by Las Piñas City Mayor Aguilar

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, Mayor Imelda Aguilar welcomed the very young jiu-jitsu champion Jeon Bradley Cruz at City Hall, which the City Government confirmed via social media. For the newcomers reading this, the 6-year-old Cruz won the gold medal of the Kindergarten Rooster division of the ASEAN International Jiu Jitsu Open Championship 2024.

City Mayor Imelda Aguilar warmly welcomed six-year-old Jeon Bradley Dela Cruz during a courtesy visit at the City Hall on Thursday, May 16th. Jeon recently competed in the ASEAN International Jiu Jitsu Open Championship 2024, where he won the gold medal in the Kindergarten Rooster division.

Muntinlupa City Government wins Gawad Edukampyon award

The City Government of Muntinlupa recently won a prestigious award (Gawad Edukampyon) in the field of education among highly urbanized cities (HUC), according to a Manila Bulletin news report. For the newcomers reading this, Gawad Edukampyon is a nationwide program launched by REX Education in collaboration with the Department of Education, Department of the Interior, and Local Government and Early Childhood Care and Development Council.

The Muntinlupa City government won the Gawad Edukampyon award in the highly urbanized city category for its efforts in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD).

Muntinlupa won the award for its Supplementary Programs on Early Stimulation and Promotion of Proper Health and Nutrition. This involved a wide range of initiatives, including feeding program, health services, sports activities, educational support, and social services for families.

The city also caters to the needs of parents through the Family Support Program, Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers (TUPAD), and Parent Congress.

“Patuloy ang City Government of Muntinlupa sa pagsulong ng mahusay na childhood care services para sa mga kabataang Muntinlupeño. Gusto natin lahat ng mga bata sa Muntinlupa ay malusog, nakakapag-aral at may mabuting asal (The City Government of Muntinlupa continues to advocate great childcare services for our young Muntinlupeño. We want all children in Muntinlupa to be healthy, go to school and have good manners),” said Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

He added, “Maraming salamat sa ECED Muntinlupa, led by Ms. Jenny Mercado, sa pangunguna sa ating mga programa for childhood development (Thank you to ECED Muntinlupa, led by Ms. Jenny Mercado, for leading our programs for childhood development).”

Muntinlupa City raises monthly allowance of Class A athletes

Recently in the progressive City of Muntinlupa, the City Government formally raise the monthly allowance of its athletes under Class A who represented the city in competitions locally and overseas, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The raise was done by means of legislation.

The Muntinlupa City government has increased the monthly allowance of its Class A athletes who represent the city in local and international competitions.

Ordinance 2024-164, passed by the Muntinlupa City Council, was signed by Mayor Ruffy Biazon on April 11.

Under the ordinance, a Class A athlete is someone who has shown excellence in sports and is representing Muntinlupa in regional, national, international and invitational competitions including the Olympics, Asian Games, SEA Games, world championships, Philippine National Games, national finals, Philippine Youth Games, and Palarong Pambansa.

For 2024, Class A athletes from the years 2022 to 2023 will receive a monthly allowance of P1,000 while additional athletes will start from P500 per month.

For 2025, Class A athletes of 2023 will get P1,500 per month; P2,000 per month in 2026; P2,500 per month in 2027; and P3,000 per month in 2028.

The allowance can be used by athletes to buy food and medicine, transportation, equipment for training, playing uniform and other expenses for their studies, the ordinance stated.

The criteria for the selection of Class A athletes are: should be a resident of Muntinlupa for at least one year during the time of his training or joining a competition; recommended by the coach; and those who represent Muntinlupa who win gold, silver and bronze medals in international, national, regional and invitational competitions certified by the Philippine Sports Commission, National Sports Association, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Education and International Sports Federation.

National triathlete Kim Mangrobang an awardee of the Women in Sports Awards, event scheduled for March 20, 2024

Elite triathlete and back-to-back Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) medalist Kim Mangrobang has officially been confirmed by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) as an awardee of the Women in Sports Awards which will happen on March 20, 2024 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

In a March 8, 2024 official letter addressed to Mangrobang, PSC Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo wrote:

It is with immense pleasure and that we extend our warmest congratulations to You.

You have been distinguished as an awardee at the upcoming Women in Sports Awards, scheduled for 20 March 2024, at the prestigious Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

This distinguished event, the first of its kind in our nation, serves to recognize exemplary women athletes who have demonstrated outstanding prowess or given significant contributions into their respective fields in sports.

The Women in Sports Awards aim to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of female athletes, offering them the recognition they truly deserve. This accolade not only celebrates their successes but also aims to inspire future generations of athletes to pursue excellence and foster a robust culture of sportsmanship and vitality within our community.

For the newcomers reading this, Kim Mangrobang (full name: Marion Kim Mangrobang) is one of the finest triathletes of the Philippines. She won several gold medals for the country in the SEA Games over the past years, including victories in the sport of duathlon (run-bike-run).
