The Summer Swimming Lessons 2026 program at Tropical Palace Resort Hotel in BF International, Las Piñas City officially begins today.

Coach Alec Dequiña will lead the teaching of the swimming lessons. Inside Tropical Palace Resort Hotel are the main swimming pool (rectangular) and the small pool.

Courses offered are as follows: Basic (6-years-old and above) for P6,500 with lessons taking place 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Advance (6-years-old and above) for P6,500 with lessons taking place 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Toddlers (3 to 5-years-old) for P7,500 with lessons taking place 9 AM to 10 AM.

Around two thousand tricycle drivers (the first batch) have received their cash relief assistance at the Aguilar Sports Complex recently, according to the social media announcement of the City Government of Las Piñas. Each tricycle driver received P5,000 as relief from the much higher prices of fuel caused by the ongoing war against the Islamic terrorist regime of Iran which itself attacked multiple nations in the Middle East with missiles and drones.

The distribution of P5,000 cash payout of the AICS program for the first batch of tricycle drivers in Las Piñas City was held at Aguilar Sports Complex.

This is part of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s support to help drivers cope with the continuing rise of oil prices due to tensions in the Middle East.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and other offices of the city government are working together to ensure a smooth and peaceful distribution of aid to beneficiaries.

On the first day of payout, almost 2,000 drivers from TODA groups ACAPODA, APHDA, ATODA, BFLTSODA, BFRSSCV, BFRV-VG, CCTODA, CEBMTODA and BFATODA were given cash assistance. Payout will continue in the coming days to provide all registered members of TODA.

Recently in the progressive City of Muntinlupa, a motorcycle rider died when a tree fell down on him along National Road. As such, the City Government will provide assistance to the family of the victim and no less than Mayor Ruffy Biazon confirmed it, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the city government will provide assistance to the family of a motorcycle rider who was killed when a falling tree hit him on March 11.

“Lubos akong nakikiramay sa pamilya ng motorcycle rider na nasawi matapos mabagsakan ng puno sa National Rd. kagabi. Ang Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Muntinlupa ay nakikipag-ugnayan na sa kanyang pamilya para magbigay ng assistance at iba pang kinakailangang tulong sa abot ng ating makakaya (I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the motorcycle rider who died after being hit by a tree on National Rd. last night. The Muntinlupa City Government is already coordinating with his family to provide assistance and other necessary help to the best of our ability),” Biazon said.

“Kasabay nito, ongoing na rin ang masusing imbestigasyon tungkol sa insidente. Ipinag-utos ko rin ang inspection at agarang cutting o trimming ng mga puno sa mga lugar na maaaring magdulot ng panganib, para maiwasan ang kaparehong trahedya sa hinaharap. Maraming salamat din sa responders na agad tumulong para maalis ang natumbang puno (At the same time, a thorough investigation into the incident is also ongoing. I have also ordered the inspection and immediate cutting or trimming of trees in areas that may pose a danger, to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Many thanks also to the responders who immediately helped to remove the fallen tree).”

The Muntinlupa police reported that an acacia tree suddenly fell, directly hitting the northbound motorcycle rider and damaging two southbound vehicles.

The police identified the victim as Ronnie Cruz, 36, stockman, a resident of BF Homes International Village, Las Piñas.  He suffered injuries and was brought to the Medical Center Muntinlupa (MCM) where he was declared dead on arrival by an attending doctor, the police said in a report.

With the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and much higher prices of fuel already in effect, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that it has started implementing the compressed work week schedule to specifically cut down on energy consumption in government offices. Workers of certain departments, however, will resume their regular operations to ensure uninterrupted services.

The Office of the Mayor released Memo No. 2026-001 implementing the Compressed Workweek Schedule in the City Government of Las Piñas, in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 114 of the national government that aims to reduce energy consumption in government offices.

Under the new schedule, city employees will go to work Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The move aims to support energy conservation, make government operations more efficient, and ensure service delivery to citizens continues.

Offices that provide essential services such as the City Health Office, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Engineering Office, City Environmental and Natural Resources Office, and Traffic and Parking Management Office will resume their regular operations to ensure public service is not interrupted.

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, the City Government (specifically the  Las Piñas City Manpower Training Center) received from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) new training tools, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The Las Piñas City Manpower Training Center (LPCMTC) received new tools and equipment following the signing of a Deed of Donation from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)–NCR and the TESDA Muntinlupa District.

Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar led the ceremonial signing with TESDA-NCR Regional Director Angelina Carreon, TESDA MuntiParLas Tapat District Director, TESDA-NCR Assistant Regional Director Gerardo Mercado, and LPCMTC head Engineer Noel Cuevas.

Aguilar said the event marked another milestone in strengthening the city’s technical and vocational training programs.

She said that various tool kits and equipment were awarded for use in LPCMTC’s training courses. These include equipment for assembling electronic products, solar night and post lamps, automotive servicing, cookery, bread making, and servicing consumer and industrial electronics modules and systems.

The mayor added that additional tools for preparing hot and cold meals were also provided.

Aguilar said that with improved training facilities and complete equipment, Las Piñeros are now better equipped to gain employment or start their own livelihoods.

In a serious move against the selling of fake friendship route stickers online, the City Government of Las Piñas that it will pursue legal action against three online shopping platforms that constantly made such items available to customers, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. The City Government reiterated that using fake friendship route stickers constitutes penalties.

The Las Piñas city government has intensified its crackdown on the illegal sale and use of counterfeit Friendship Route stickers and is preparing to pursue legal action against three online platforms.

Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said  the three online platforms were reportedly openly selling counterfeit Friendship Route stickers.

Aguilar stressed that legitimate Friendship Route stickers are distributed free of charge to residents of Las Piñas City.

She warned that selling or using fake stickers is a violation of City Ordinance No. 715-06 and may result in fines and possible imprisonment.

Under the ordinance, violators will be fined P500 for the first offense, P1,000 for the second offense, and P3,000 for succeeding offenses.

Those found violating other provisions of the ordinance may face a fine of up to P5,000 or imprisonment of up to six months, or both.

While the Manila Bulletin report did not mention the names of the online shopping platforms, the City Government’s official announcement explicitly mentioned Shopee, Lazada and Facebook Marketplace.

Col. Wilson Delos Santos, Las Piñas City Police chief, said the suspect, Reynard, 34, was nabbed by members of the Warrant and Subpoena Section at his residence in San Jose Street, Barangay Ilaya, Las Piñas City.

The police served the warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ma. Ludmila de Pio Lim of the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court, Branch 253, on July 8, 2025, for attempted murder with a recommended bail of P120,000

The city government of Las Piñas has been recognized as one of the first local government units (LGUs) in the country to receive a Certificate of Recognition for Advancing Animal Welfare in the Philippines.

Mayor April Aguilar said the award was conferred by the Animal Health and Welfare Division of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) on the Las Piñas City Veterinary Services Office, headed by Dr. August Michael Basangan, in acknowledgment of its significant contributions to promoting and protecting animal welfare in the city.

Aguilar said the city was cited for its strong and consistent implementation of Republic Act 8485, also known as the Animal Welfare Act.

She added that Las Piñas continues to roll out various animal welfare programs, including free spay and neuter services, anti-rabies vaccination, monthly pet adoption events, pet registration, and pet microchipping.

The mayor also highlighted the City Animal Shelter as a key component of the city’s animal welfare initiatives. The facility serves as a haven for abandoned, rescued, and neglected animals, providing them with proper care and protection.

Police arrested a construction worker, listed as the No. 8 Most Wanted Person at the station level, in Las Piñas City on Feb. 2

Las Piñas City Police chief Col. Wilson Delos Santos said the suspect, identified as alias DJ, 39, was nabbed at his residence on Gen. Luna Street, Barangay Manuyo Uno, Las Piñas City.

Delos Santos said the arrest was carried out by members of the Warrant and Subpoena Section for violation of Republic Act No. 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The warrant of arrest for the service of sentence was issued by Judge Mildred Jacinto Marquez of the Las Piñas City Family Court, Branch 2. He is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Las Piñas City Police Station.
