I am personally interested in the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of Minority Report. I first saw that movie at the local cinema (note: it has officially closed down after years of neglect and deterioration) and I ended up being entertained and intrigued by its tone and Spielberg’s direction. Without spoiling the plot, I can say that the film is pretty cerebral and its scenes of spectacle were pay-offs to the build-ups.
Inspired by one of the sci-fi tales of the late Philip K. Dick, Minority Report is not exactly a film to watch for fun only as it will compel you to think about the conflicts between destiny and predictions, crime and law enforcement, and most notably the debate about arresting people who only thought about committing crime but did not execute it. Another good reason to watch it is the combined talents of Spielberg and Tom Cruise, and there is a lot of depth – including expository dialogue – to the script.
The scheduled December 2025 release of the 4K Blu-ray of Minority Report is quite timely. Today, a lot of moviegoers and some fans of Tom Cruise felt burned up with the Mission: Impossible film franchise. As for Spielberg, there has been nothing groundbreaking nor interesting about the films he directed over the past several years. Times like these, you’ll have to go back to the previous works of Spielberg and Cruise to enjoy something and Minority Report can fill that void.

If you are a 4K Blu-ray collector who has not yet seen Minority Report, better avoid watching any of the movie reaction videos or retro reviews or retrospectives of the film on YouTube.
Watch out for Minority Report 4K Blu-ray on December 9, 2025.

Aguilar led the turnover at the City Hall grounds on Monday, August 11, and was received by Col. Sandro Tafalla, Las Piñas City police chief.
She said the donation is part of the local government’s continuing commitment to provide the police force with adequate resources to ensure faster response time and more efficient patrolling in the community to maintain peace and order.
The mayor also said that city residents deserve to feel safe at all times, and the patrol car will help the police to respond quickly to emergency calls and conduct regular rounds around the city.
Aguilar assured that the city government will continue supporting the police in improving facilities and upgrading equipment.
Tafalla, on the other hand, expressed gratitude to the city government and said that the new vehicle will significantly enhance mobility, especially in far-flung areas and during critical operations.

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, local police officers apprehended two persons (both previously worked for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs) for selling fake money online, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from news report of the PNA Some parts in boldface…
Two former Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers were arrested for allegedly selling fake money online in Las Piñas City, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) said on Friday.
In a press conference held at Camp Crame in Quezon City, PNP ACG Director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said suspects alias “Usa,” 18, a resident of Cotabato City; and “Agila,” 30, of Zamboanga Del Sur were arrested by the Northern District Anti-Cybercrime Team, in coordination with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), in an entrapment operation in Barangay Manuyo Dos on Wednesday.
“’Yung dalawang nahuli natin, we can confirm that they are former employees of POGO. Ito ay mga driver ng ating POGO companies. They started selling these fake money nung nag-stop na sila sa POGO (These two we caught, we can confirm that they are former POGO employees … They were drivers of POGO companies. They started selling this fake money when POGOs were shut down),” Yang said.
He said the suspects mainly operated in Metro Manila, according to reports.
In November last year, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Executive Order 74, ordering the immediate ban of the Philippine offshore gaming, internet gaming and other offshore gaming operations.
The entrapment operation stemmed from a report by the BSP regarding the rampant online sale of fake currency.
In response, the Northern District Anti-Cybercrime Team intensified its cyber patrolling efforts until they came across a social media post by one of the suspects offering a counterfeit PHP1,000 bill for sale at PHP150.
A total of 150 counterfeit thousand-peso bills were confiscated from the suspects, who sold them for PHP22,500 during the operation.
“May online group talaga na nagbebenta. Several groups ito. So, sinumbong namin ito sa ACG (There really are online groups where they sell these. There are several groups. So, we reported this to the ACG),” BPS Payments and Currency Investigation Group officer Mark Fajardo said at the press conference.
“Hindi maganda. Medyo apurahan ang pagkakagawa kasi hindi sila sanay (It’s not good. How it was done seems sloppy because they were not experienced),” Fajardo told reporters when asked about the quality of the counterfeit money confiscated
He said they are able to tell the fake banknotes apart because the watermark on them was more apparent and the security thread was only printed.
When asked whether the police have already determined who had supplied the fake banknotes, Yang said they are looking into a bigger figure.
The suspects are detained at the ACG custodial facility and will be facing charges for violation of Article 168 (Illegal Possession and Use of False Treasury or Bank Notes and Other Instruments of Credit) in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Yang said the operation aligns with the directive of PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III to intensify cyber patrolling and implement immediate action to prevent cybercriminals from exploiting social media platforms.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Are you concerned that the selling of fake money could grow into a serious problem within the city?

Recently in the city of Parañaque, NBI agents arrested two people and seized illegal vape products that have been estimated to be worth almost P4 million, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). This development is the result of a successful entrapment operation by the NBI.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the PNA news article. Some parts in boldface…
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested two individuals and seized PHP3.9 million worth of illegal vape products in an operation in Parañaque City.
In a press briefing, NBI Director Jaime Santiago identified the suspects as Ace Garcia and Reginald Llanto, who were arrested by operatives of the NBI’s Cavite North District Office (NBI-CAVIDO-North) on Wednesday.
According to the NBI, the CAVIDO-North received information on the sale and distribution of illegal vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products.
After presenting a sample, the NBI received a certification from the Department of Trade and Industry – Office for the Special Mandate on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products (DTI-OSMV) that the vape products submitted were considered “unregulated and substandard.”
Operatives conducted an entrapment against the two suspects, resulting in the seizure of 49 master cases which contain 8,200 pieces of vape pods and 1,600 pieces of vape devices, among others, with an estimated value of PHP3.92 million.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, do you think the sale and distribution of illegal vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products in the city will only get worse over the next six months?

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, local police officers apprehended a man wanted for two counts of statutory rape, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The law enforcers were armed with a warrant of arrest.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from news report of the Manila Bulletin. Some parts in boldface…
Members of the Las Pinas Police Warrant and Subpoena Section arrested a 19-year-old man, tagged as No. 3 most wanted person at the regional level, on Tuesday, July 1, for two counts of statutory rape.
Col. Sandro Tafalla, Las Pinas Police chief, said the suspect was nabbed at his residence on Ruby St., Saint Mary’s Home in Barangay Almanza Uno, Las Pinas City.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Kathryn Sabado of the Las Pinas Regional Trial Court Branch 202, with no bail recommended.
Tafalla noted that upon verification through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) system, the suspect’s name did not appear in the E-warrant and E-Rouge police databases.
Further checks, however, confirmed that the case was listed in the Crime Information, Reporting, and Analysis System (CIRAS) — an electronic system designed to digitize and streamline crime documentation.
Tafalla explained that CIRAS serves as a modernized version of the traditional police blotter, providing a more efficient and standardized crime data management.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Are you concerned that there might be suspected rapists living in your local community? Do you consider the crime of rape very serious nowadays?

Recently in the city of Parañaque, two traffic violators were apprehended by the Highway Patrol Group (HGP) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and seized from them a gun, ammunition and even bullet-proof vests to name a few, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). It turns out, the suspects were previously involved in extortion.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news article of the PNA. Some parts in boldface…
Two persons arrested for traffic violations by the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) were later found to be behind an extortion scheme using the name of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
HPG Director Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said “Joselito” and “JJ Café” failed to present documents when their car was stopped for illegal use of a blinker and protocol plate number “12” (Cabinet undersecretary) along Filipinas Avenue in Parañaque City on Friday.
The HPG operatives also seized a 9mm pistol, ammunition, handheld radios, three bulletproof vests and a C-4 explosive.
“We are investigating because they appear to be ready for any armed confrontation, and why were they carrying C-4?” Matta said in a press conference at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Sunday.
“We are also conducting a follow-up operation because the report we received was that there was another vehicle that was able to flee.”
Ambassador Markus Lacanilao, Special Envoy on Transnational Crime, said Joselito was among the three arrested in an entrapment in Pasay City in March last year but later posted bail.
Joselito’s group allegedly threatened to shut down an emission testing business if the owner would not give PHP5 million. Lacanilao said the apprehended vehicle was the same car used by three suspects.
He also confirmed that JJ Café was the same person who introduced himself as Office of the President undersecretary and a relative of the First Lady to get government contracts.
“They were asking money in exchange for the approval of business lime medicine and emission. And they were showing a video of the man posing as undersecretary at the Office of the President,” Lacanilao said.
Lacanilao advised the public not to yield to extortion demands using the name of the First Family and instead report the matter to authorities.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, are you concerned that armed extortionists and fraudsters could be lurking around? Do you know anyone who was extorted over the past twelve months? Was there a business joint in your local community that got harassed by extortionists?

Recently in the City of Parañaque, ten men were arrested by the police after they were caught cutting the underground cables of a telecommunications firm in Barangay Don Bosco, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. Recovered from the suspects were 600 pairs of cut underground copper cable (around 106 meters each), a claw bar, an improvised hook and a closed van to name some.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the news report of the Manila Bulletin. Some parts in boldface…
Authorities from the Paranaque City Police arrested 10 men who were caught in the act of cutting underground cables of a telecommunications provider in violation of Republic Act No. 10515 or the Anti-Cable Theft Law.

The police said the suspects were arrested at around 3:30 a.m. in front of the TCL Authorized Service Center located along France St., Barangay Don Bosco, Paranaque City, by members of the Paranaque City Police Don Bosco Substation.
Operatives from Paranaque City Police Don Bosco Substation were reportedly conducting routine patrol when they noticed a suspicious closed van and, upon their approach, the group of men cutting cable wires tried to flee but were prevented with the assistance of Barangay Don Bosco officials.
The police said coordination with the telecommunications providers showed that there was no authorized repair or maintenance work in the area, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, do you think crime will only get worse over the next three years? Do you think there will still be people out there who will organize illegal operations that look like maintenance work?
