Man Arrested in Las Piñas City for Usurpation of Authority and Possession of Firearm

Recently in Las Piñas City, police officers apprehended a man for the usurpation of authority and the possession of a firearm, according to a news report by The Daily Tribune. The police officers were conducting an operation when the suspect introduced himself to them as a Philippine Army member.

A 34-year-old man was apprehended for usurpation of authority and violation of Section 7 of Republic Act No. 10591 during an Oplan Bakal operation in Las Piñas City early Monday morning, 24 August.

At about 1:20 a.m., personnel of the CAA Sub-Station conducted the operation at a resto bar along J. Aguilar Avenue, Barangay Pulang Lupa Dos.

The suspect, identified as alias Noe, allegedly introduced himself as a member of the Philippine Army and disclosed that he was carrying a firearm inside his belt bag.

During verification, he failed to present a valid Philippine Army identification card but produced a License to Own and Possess Firearms, Firearm Registration and Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence.

Police confiscated a .45-caliber Thunder Bolt pistol bearing serial No. TB09190789, five magazines, 49 rounds of live ammunition and a black belt bag.

Japan’s Defense Ministry emphasized the urgent need to prepare for what it calls new ways of warfare leveraging drones and artificial intelligence technology in an annual white paper adopted Tuesday.

The 2026 report, submitted by Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi to the day’s cabinet meeting, also displayed vigilance over the Chinese military’s expanding activities in the Pacific, saying Japan should respond with its “comprehensive national power.”

The white paper said that large-scale attacks combining low-cost unmanned equipment and conventional missiles have been conducted on the battlefields of Ukraine fighting Russia’s aggression.

Acknowledging that preparing for prolonged conflicts has become a key issue, the government stressed the importance of securing adequate stockpiles and ensuring sustained operational capability.

I believe that every nation has to reward its armed forces in return for the extensive services they rendered for the citizens and the government throughout the year. Just today, I learned via a Newsmax news report that US President Donald Trump announced that every active-duty member of the United States Armed Forces will receive a Christmas bonus worth $1,776 – called the Warrior Dividend – and already the checks are on their way to them (1.45 million service members).

Before proceeding with the news and details, let me remind you all that Christmas is all about Lord Jesus, and never about the character called Santa Claus. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday night that every active-duty member of the U.S. armed forces will receive a $1,776 Christmas bonus, unveiling what he called the “Warrior Dividend” during a nationally televised prime-time address from the White House.

Trump said the one-time payment would go to roughly 1.45 million service members and is already being distributed, with checks scheduled to arrive before Christmas. The amount, Trump said, was deliberately chosen to honor America’s founding in 1776. That’s just ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary,  to be celebrate (throughout) the coming year.

“I am also proud to announce that 1,450,000 military service members will receive a special — we call Warrior Dividend — before Christmas, a Warrior Dividend in honor of our nation’s founding in 1776,” Trump said during the address, which was carried live by Newsmax from the White House Diplomatic Room.

“We are sending every soldier $1,776. The checks are already on the way,” Trump said. “Nobody deserves it more than our military. And I say congratulations to everybody.”
