2025 National Age Group Triathlon Subic Bay Freeport race set for January 25-26, registration ongoing

The 2025 season opener of the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) series is set to take place on January 25 and 26 at the Subic Bay Boardwalk inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and registration is ongoing.

A part of Triathlon Philippines’ (TriPhil) triathlon try-outs and talent identification program for the Philippine Triathlon Team, the 2025 National Age Group Triathlon – Subic Bay race will have race distances as follows:

● Super Trikids:

   ○  6-under 50m swim- 1km bike – 400m run

   ○  7-8 yrs. old 100m swim – 2km bike – 800m run

   ○  9-10 yrs. old 200m swim – 6km bike – 1 Km run

   ○  11-12 yrs. old 400m swim – 8km bike – 2km run

● U15: 500m swim – 10km bike – 2km run

● Sprint Distance: 750m swim – 20km bike – 5km run

● Standard Distance: 1.5km swim – 40km bike – 10km run (Individual and Team Relay)

Ramos and Avanzado top Super Sprint 13-15 contests of 2024 NTT Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT), age-group winners declared

Youth triathletes Euan Arrow Ramos and Eleora Avanzado emerged victorious in the Super Sprint-13-15 contests during the 2nd day of action of the 2024 NTT AST Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT) held at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone yesterday, according to Triathlon Philippines. The day also saw many age-group triathlon contests as well.

Ramos and Perez win Super Sprint titles of the 2024 National Age Group Triathlon Subic Bay Freeport race

This past Saturday, triathletes Euan Arrow Ramos and Christy Ann Perez won the Super Sprint category of the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) tournament which was held at the Boardwalk in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

Ramos from Baguio Benguet Triathlon Team finished the 500 meter swim – 10 kilometer bike – 2 kilometer run race in 33 minutes and 24 seconds in the boys’ 13-15 years old division. Peter Sancho Del Rosario (Getcoach’d Academy) finished 2nd place in 35:19 followed by teammate Diego Jose Dimayuga (35:37).

Christy Ann Perez, a member of Go For Gold TLTG Cebu, registered the best time of 38:06 in the girls division, while teammate Yvaine Osias checked in third (39:00). Maria Zabelle Eugenio (Baguio Benguet Triathlon Team) ranked second (38:43).

Meanwhile, Hans Nathan Samputon (Ormoc Aquatic Edge) bagged the gold medal in the Super Kids boys 11-12 years old (400m swim, 8km bike and 2km run) category with a time of 34:28. Earl Pearson Jr. (Go For Gold TLTG Cebu) took the silver medal in 35.05 while Bricen Lukas Platz (Get Coach’D Academy clocked 38:26 to settle for the bronze medal.

In the girls division, the Top 3 finishers were Lauren Lee Tan of Ormoc Aquatic Edge (34:27), Henia Ethana Go of Gold TLTG Cebu (35:51) and Ava Victoria Banal of Baguio Benget Triathlon (38:48).

The Top 3 finishers in the boys division of the 9-10 years old (200m swim, 6km bike and 1km run) category, were Chris Donovan Lacuna (25:40), Matteo Carino (27:17) and Jon David Julian (27:19), while Pia Gito (28:13) got the gold and Juriel Brooke Julian (31:24) the silver in the girls division.

In the 7-8 years old (100m swim, 2km bike and 800m run), the winners in Ray Vincent Marchan (17:41) and Zavier Prequenza (21:35) in the boys division and Stacey Ailia Aisha (29:13) in the girls division.

Suchen Mooney (13:21) pocketed the gold and Dylan Shyam Bayarong (21:00) secured the silver medal in the boys 6 and under (50m swim, 1km bike and 400m run) category.

The NAGT, organized by Triathlon Philippines headed by Ramon Marchan in cooperation with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), was supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, Asian Centre for Insulation, Standard Insurance and Gatorade, the official drink.

2024 Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT) set for May 4 and 5, registration ongoing

For those of you craving for multisport action within the fantastic Subic Bay Freeport Zone, be aware that the 2024 NTT AST Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT) is scheduled to happen on May 4 and 5, 2024, and registration online is ongoing.

A joint project of Triathlon Philippines, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and FUNtastic Subic Bay supported by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Standard Insurance and Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, Inc., the event will have a series of contests across the race distances of Standard Distance (1.5 Km swim – 40 Km bike – 10 Km run), Sprint Distance (750 M swim – 20 Km bike – 5Km run) and Super Sprint Distance (500 M swim – 10 Km bike – 2.5 Km run).

The event is presented by NTT and Asia Triathlon.

Registration fees as of this writing are as follows: P6,000 for Standard Distance, P5,500 for Sprint Distance, P4,500 for Super Sprint Distance and P2,750 for Super TriKids category. These rates are in effect for the period of January 1 to 15, 2024.

2024 National Age Group Triathlon Subic Bay Freeport race set for January 27-28, registration ongoing

If you are looking to start the new year with multisport action and competition, then you might be interested to join the 2024 National Age Group Triathlon – Subic Bay race set for January 27 and 28, 2024. Registration for the event is ongoing as of this writing.

Right now, the registration fees are as follows: P8,500 for Standard Distance Team Relay, P5,500 for Standard Distance, P5,000 for Sprint Distance, P4,500 for Super Sprint Distance and P3,500 for Super Trikids.

TRAP brings foreign-flavored National Duathlon Championships to New Clark City

The forthcoming 2022 National Duathlon Championships (NDC) will feature the finest Filipino competitors in the run-bike-run event along with a strong foreign participation as the races form part of the selection of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (32nd SEA Games) in Cambodia.

Over 450 duathletes across the country are expected to troop to the New Clark City in Tarlac in time for the December 4 race where they will see action in the Standard Distance races as well as in the Sprint and Super Sprint events along with the best from Singapore and Malaysia.

“The main actions are in the sprint events since the events in the Cambodia SEA Games are all sprints with Singapore and Malaysia sending their best to measure up with our elites,” said TRAP president Tom Carrasco.

The races will be supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), HOKA, Filinvest New Clark City, Standard Insurance, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines (ACIP), Fissan and Fitbar as major sponsors while the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA), New Clark City and the local government of Capas, Tarlac are the venue partners.

According to Carrasco, the signature event of the TRAP is the 13-15 age group category (Super Sprint) starring the country’s Youth Olympic Games aspirants and the next generation of duathletes/triathletes in the national team.

“The top Filipino finishers will be in the short list for the SEA Games in Cambodia, but we will also consider the other duathlon events results in 2022,” said Carrasco.

More entries are expected to sign up prior to the races where Pocari Sweat serves as hydration partner and PTV Sports and Radyo Pilipinas 2 as media partners.

A total of 103 team will participate, most of them from 26 cities and provinces in the country and foreign contingents from Australia, Brazil, France, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and the United States.

2022 National Duathlon Championships (NDC) set for December 4 at New Clark City

New Clark City, the premier site of athletics and aquatics in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, will be the hot spot for endurance racing as it hosts the 2022 National Duathlon Championships (NDC) on December 4, 2022. Registration is ongoing at RaceYaya.com

The NDC will take place around New Clark City using its well paved roads. There will be a Standard Distance course of 10 Km run – 40 Km bike – 5 Km run as well as a Sprint Distance course of 5Km run – 20 Km bike – 2.5 Km run and a Super Sprint Distance course of 2.5 Km run – 10 Km bike – 2.5 Km run.

The event organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) with the support of Standard Insurance, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, Inc. and POCARI Sweat will serve as part of the selection process for the composition of the national pool duathletes who will compete in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games (2023 SEA Games) in Cambodia. Already the other SEA Games federation have given word that they will make their selection of their respective teams to join this event.

Online registration for the event is ongoing with early bird rates of P3,500 (for Super Sprint Distance and Sprint Distance), P4,000 (Standard Distance) and P7,000 (Standard Distance Team Relay) offered until August 15, 2022. After delivering the first two gold and silver medals of the recently concluded 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), triathlon opens a new decade in the country with the launch of the 2020 season of the National Age Group Triathlon series which will fire off with close to a thousand participants on January 26 in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

A joint project of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), the season opening race will have participants challenging themselves with the Standard Distance (1.5 Km swim – 40 Km bike – 10 Km run), Sprint Distance (750 M swim – 20 Km bike – 5 Km run) and Super Sprint Distance (500 M swim – 13 Km bike – 2.5 Km run) prepared for them with San Bernardino serving as the main venue for starting, transition and finishing.

At stake in the event supported by the SBMA, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Standard Insurance, FINIS and Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines (ACIP) are gift packs and winners’ medals for the Top 3 winners of each age-group category per distance as well as the Team Relay category.
