Several Chinese nationals arrested by NBI inside Ayala Alabang Village, firearms seized

With the support of the local community, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested twelve Chinese nationals in three houses inside Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City, and seized varied firearms, ammunition and equipment, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

The National Bureau of Investigation- National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) on Wednesday said it has arrested 12 Chinese nationals in Muntinlupa City for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

In a news release, the NBI said the foreigners were nabbed in an operation conducted Monday evening to Tuesday morning in three residential houses in in Ayala Alabang Village by virtue of search warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court of Muntinlupa City.

The NBI operatives, together with representatives from the barangay, homeowners’ association and village security personnel, searched the premises and seized five pistols, along with magazines and ammunition in the first location; four pistols with magazines and ammunition, two taser guns, three bulletproof vests, tactical knives, and handcuffs on the second; and one pistol with a magazine and ammunition and tactical gear for pistols on the third.

Various identification cards belonging to individuals named Yi Wan, Wang Zenghui, Yichun Liu, Zhou Chenchen, Zhang Yu, Xiu Zhang, Zhang Qi Ja, Wang Zenghui and Wang Weibin were also seized.

The NBI said four vehicles were also impounded for verification after the owners failed to present the necessary documents.

The nationwide ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) is arguably working. That being said, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) stated that the POGOs have been forming smaller groups which have moved into residential areas to secretly operate, according to a GMA Network news report.

Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) appear to be trying to evade the authorities by forming smaller groups and setting up in residential areas, the National Bureau of Investigation said amid a raid on a group of alleged scammers.

In a report by John Consulta on 24 Oras on Tuesday, 17 foreigners were arrested in the raid on a residential unit in Makati City. They were caught at their workstations for alleged scamming activities, including love scams and crypto scams.

“Pag nakakuha sila ng pool of information, magko-conduct sila ng background investigation kung sino ang target nila. Pag nakita nila yung pattern, yung character, yung hobby, yung daily activities at the same time yung longings ng kanilang victims, ie-engage nila through social engineering,” said National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division Chief Jeremy Lotoc.

(When they get a pool of information, they will conduct a background investigation on their target. When they see the pattern, the character, the hobby, the daily activities, and at the same time the longings of their victims, they will engage through social engineering.)

“Merong hacker, merong buyer ng data. May nakita kaming program-coded script na pwede magamit to access other systems without the authority nor consent of the system owner we assume meron silang activity in terms of hacking,” Lotoc added.

(There is a hacker, and there is a buyer of data. We found a program-coded script that can be used to access other systems without the authority or consent of the system owner. We assume they have activity in terms of hacking.)

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said they are from big Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) companies.

“Yung malalaking POGO, nag-group sila into smaller group, nag-o-occupy ng residential units, apartments, para hindi mahalata na POGO, yun pa rin. To continue their scamming activities,” said NBI Director Jimmy Santiago.

(These big POGOs form smaller groups and occupy residential units so that they can’t be detected. Then they continue their scamming activities.)

The NBI is already examining the computers to obtain the details of their victims, while an inquest has already been conducted on those arrested and they are facing online fraud complaints and the violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

1,000,000 hits worldwide and growing!

Hello, everyone! A major milestone happened today and I am deeply thankful to our Lord for it.

I am delighted to share with you all that my blog and website (Author Carlo Carrasco) surpassed one million hits (page views) worldwide today and the count is only growing! More than 1,000,000 hits counted along with over 706,000 visitors from around the world counted by my service provider. For transparency, I posted below the screenshot I captured.

Surpassing the 1,000,000 hits mark is a major achievement for me personally and this made me look back at late 2018 when, after much research and getting advise from a close friend of mine, I decided to sign up with WordPress.com to start making my blog/website. After some struggling and learning the functions, I completed the general structure and officially launched my site on the afternoon of January 4, 2019.

I can say that my website is a part of my life. Since launch, I published lots of posts about the following:

  1. Sharing my observations about what happened locally and overseas.
  2. Magnifying local developments of South Metro Manila as well as news updates (both local and foreign) that I find relevant to share with you readers.
  3. Publishing mostly retro reviews of comic books, movies, video games and other entertainment stuff.
  4. Preaching the Word of God through bible teachings, through my Christian Music Appreciation (CMA) posts and through certain features or news developments (notably about Israel) that I posted.
  5. Emphasizing the state of Israel, the truth that God designated the land of Israel to the Jewish people, the truth that the ties between Jews and Christians are biblical, the truth that Lord Jesus lived as a Jewish man and made ways for people to find salvation, and sharing the significance of the Holy Land through my Israel 2023 tour special features.
  6. The occasional sports events and the developments that are significant with regards to our nation.
  7. YouTube videos that need to be seen.
  8. Local community developments from the local government units (LGUs) down to the residential communities.

My website and blog will keep continuing with updates for you and for readers from around the world. It is my intention to keep blogging until the end of my natural life. I will keep preaching God’s Word, post relevant updates, blog about my Holy Land experience, featuring something or someone new, and more.

Great majority of participating Las Piñas City voters approve ordinance on territorial boundaries of barangays during COMELEC-led plebiscite

More than two-thirds of the participating voters of Las Piñas City approved the ordinance setting the territorial boundaries of the twenty barangays during the plebiscite this past Saturday which was handled by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), according to a GMA Network news report. Specifically, 68% of the voters voted in favor of the proposal although COMELEC chairman George Garcia pointed out that the voter turnout was low.

Over 41,000 residents (67%) of Las Piñas City on Saturday voted in favor of an ordinance that sets the territorial boundaries of the 20 barangays in the city.

Based on the certificate of canvass of votes shared by Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia to members of the media, 41,493 residents voted “yes” while 19,498 voted “no” when asked if they agree with delineating the territorial boundaries of the 20 barangays.

With this, the ordinance was proclaimed ratified and approved.

“Nanalo po ang ‘yes,’ and therefore epektibo na ang ordinansa tungkol sa pagliliwanag ng paghahati ng bawat barangay doon sa 20 barangays sa Las Piñas,” Garcia said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(‘Yes’ won, and therefore the ordinance regarding the delineation of the division of each barangay in the 20 barangays in Las Piñas is now effective.)

He, however, lamented the low voter turnout which was only around 20%. Las Piñas City has a total of 308,059 registered voters, but only 61,237 voters actually voted in the plebiscite.

Ordinance No. 1941-23 Series of 2023 delineates the territorial boundaries of the 20 barangays in the city in accordance with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ cadastral survey that was completed in March 2015.

The ordinance states that since the creation of the barangays in 1978, “the territorial metes and bounds of the said barangays have not been properly identified such that there are barangays whose land areas are not contiguous and/or overlapping with another barangay.”

“Moreover, confusion in the territorial boundaries of the barangays is being encountered which could cause disputes, or be subject of disputes, especially since the cadastral mapping in 1980 for the barangays conflicted with the boundaries as set forth in the Presidential Decrees,” the ordinance added.
