In Parañaque City, a Chinese national was rescued from his captors as a result of a successful operation by the police, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The rescue happened on the evening of October 31, 2022.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
A Chinese man was rescued from his four abductors during a police operation in Parañaque City on Monday night, Oct. 31.
Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft identified the rescued victim as Chen Peng, 27.
The suspects — Qiang Wang, 34, also a Chinese national; Novin Yusuff, 42, driver; Joseph Barbas, 45; and Nino Felisan, 30 — were arrested during the rescue operation.
Kraft said Peng was recovered around 9:10 p.m. during a follow-up operation at the corner of Bradco Avenue and Macapagal Boulevard beside Aseana Power Station in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
The SPD chief said prior to the rescue operation, the sister of the victim, Wang Ting, assisted by an interpreter, Huang Jin, reported to Tambo Police Station that her brother was being held by four men inside a gray metallic van with plate No. IAD 774.
Kraft said members of the Tambo Police Station immediately conducted a rescue operation leading to the arrest of the four suspects.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? Do you think abductions and kidnapping are still serious problems in Parañaque City? Are you thankful to the police for the successful rescue operation?

Recently in the City of Parañaque, local authorities rescued a badly beaten Vietnamese woman and arrested two Chinese nationals who were linked to her, according to a GMA Network news report published in Tagalog. What makes this case disturbing is that the intense physical abuse committed on the victim inside the apartment was captured on video.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the GMA Network news report with content translated into English. Some parts in boldface…
A Vietnamese woman was allegedly assaulted by her Chinese national (superior) in Parañaque City with bruises, cuts and wounds on her body and face.
According to John Consulta’s report on GMA News “24 Oras” this Thursday, Southern Police District-District Special Operations Unit (SPD-DSOU) personnel rescued the 26-year-old victim inside his employer’s condo unit.
The Chinese man was also seen in the video hurting the victim. The victim was rescued, and two Chinese (nationals) were arrested.
“When we sent (her) for medical treatment, (her) situation was really tragic because almost every part of (her) body was hurt,” said SPD District Director Pcol. Kirby Kraft.
Kraft added, the Chinese started hurting the Vietnamese when (she) said goodbye that (she) wanted to go back to Dubai where (she) used to work.
Kraft further said that the victim also revealed that the boss attempted to “sexually take advantage” of her.
Complaints of illegal detention, serious physical injury and acts of lasciviousness have been filed against the suspects.
For added insight, posted below is the related GMA News video in Tagalog. The captured footage of physical abuse is disturbing to watch.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? Do you believe that Parañaque City has lots of Chinese nationals who secretly enslaved and/or abused people (foreign or local) behind closed doors? Does this recent news report make you feel uneasy with having Chinese nationals residing in your local community right now?

In the progressive City of Muntinlupa, more than thirty foreigners who were employed by a certain Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) were rescued by local authorities and other parties at Barangay Alabang, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
A Malaysian and 33 other foreign nationals working at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) company in Muntinlupa were rescued by authorities on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The Malaysian Royal Police, Southern Police District (SPD) Special Operations Unit, District Intelligence Division (DID), District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), and Muntinlupa City Police Station conducted a joint operation that led to the rescue of Soh Teck Koung, a Malaysian national, and 33 others at a POGO company located at Dexin 999 Building, Montillano St., Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa.
One Chinese national, identified by the police as Qian Jing, 35, was arrested as a suspect during the operation.
According to the police, Soh Teck Koung works at the POGO company and his employer withheld his salary, deprived him of his liberty, and did not allow him to go outside the building.
They added that the suspect repeatedly threatened Soh Teck Koung if he would report to the authorities.
Soh Teck Koung called his mother in Malaysia for help, saying he was in danger. The mother contacted Malaysian authorities who coordinated with the Philippine police.
Upon verification, the POGO company was not able to present a business permit from the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) of the Muntinlupa City government.
As you can see in the above story, this trend about multiple foreigners getting trapped and abused by their POGO employers here in the Philippines is very disturbing. Think about this carefully – foreigners who arrived here in the Philippines for economic opportunities became prisoners and/or slave laborers in secretive ways under their employers.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Muntinlupa City resident, what is your reaction to this development? Do you think that there could be more POGOs in the city that became abusive with their employees and trapped them? Could there be a POGO near you where crimes are being committed behind the scenes?

Recently twenty-nine foreigners were rescued by the police and social workers in Parañaque and all of them are employees of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), according to a news article published by the Philippine News Agency (PNA).
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the PNA news report with content translated into English. Some parts in boldface…
A total of 29 foreigners who purportedly became victims of human trafficking were rescued in Parañaque City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Friday.
In a statement, PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said 23 Myanmar nationals and six Chinese nationals were rescued by the police and social workers in an operation in Barangay Tambo at around 5 p.m. Thursday.
Investigation revealed that the victims are all Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) employees of the MOA Cloud Zone Corporation located at the NexGen Tower along C-4 Road, Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Extension in Pasay City.
The rescue operation stemmed from the referral of the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) after two Myanmar nationals were turned over to them by lawyer Mark Ronquillo of Brickhartz Technology Incorporated on Sept. 22.
On Sept. 27, the case and the two Myanmar victims (one male and one female) were referred by the AKG to the PNP’s Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) for further investigation.
The two victims also informed the investigators that a relative and other Myanmar nationals were left in the same company and are still being forced and exploited to work as online scammers, which resulted in the rescue operation.
The victims were recruited by a certain Chue Tiri Ngone a.k.a. “Christine”, a Myanmar national.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about this new development? Do you believe that there are still lots of places within Parañaque where foreigners and local people who worked for POGOs got trapped as prisoners or slave laborers?

Parañaque City is back again in the crime news. Instead of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) hitting and running over victims on the streets within the city (click here and here), twenty-four foreign women – specifically Chinese and Vietnamese) – were rescued by police officers Barangay Tambo and they arrested two Chinese nationals for human trafficking, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
Twenty-four foreign women, allegedly victims of human trafficking, were rescued by Parañaque police on Monday, Sept. 26.
The cops also arrested two Chinese men identified a Du Wei, 36, and Fang Zeng, 28, the maintainers of the place where the women were rescued. They were charged for violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2003.
Police said the 24 women were rescued at around 11:30 p.m. in three rooms of Caseana Building in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.
Col. Renato Ocampo, city police chief, said prior to the rescue operation they received a report that 24 female foreign nationals, believed to be victims of human trafficking, were seen in the building.
Ocampo said that members of the Paranaque Police intelligence section immediately conducted a verification which confirmed the report.
He said that upon checking the passports of the rescued women, it turned out that 10 of them are Chinese nationals and 14 are Vietnamese.
The rescued victims were brought to the Parañaque Police Women and Children Protection Division.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Parañaque City resident, what can you say about this latest crime-related news? Do you think that Parañaque still has lots of hidden sex dens or prostitution joints that local authorities have yet to discover? What can you say about Chinese nationals operating discreet prostitution joints in the city? Are these illegal activities affecting your local community? What makes you think makes Parañaque an attractive or ideal destination for operating a sex den or a makeshift prison for people who became victims of illegal joints?

With all the media buzz and attention on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) related to crime (read my previous POGO post by clicking here), the Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to do a crackdown on the foreign workers of POGOs which are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. The crackdown is supposedly a part of security measures to combat different types of crime.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed on Monday, Sept. 19, to intensify the crackdown against hundreds of thousands of foreign workers of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) as part of the security measures against kidnapping and other criminal activities related to offshore gambling in the country.
Based on the initial estimate of the PNP from the data provided by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), there were at least 800,000 Chinese in the country. most of them easily entered the Philippines when POGO operations in the country were approved.
And based on the PNP data through its Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), the number of kidnapping cases steeply went up since 2017, most of them are POGO-related.
PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. said the sad part of the POGO workers entry in the country in the past years is that they were not properly documented–attributing it to the privilege accorded to them wherein their visa and travel documents are approved after their arrival.
“There were an estimated 800,000 Chinese in the country and we do not know if that 800,000 are still documented. Maybe some of them are already undocumented that is why we are suggesting to the PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) to furnish us the copy o the approved POGOs so that our crackdown would be easier,” said Azurin.
PNP officials earlier met with PAGCOR and BI officials to discuss the issues related to POGO operations in the country.
A few days ago, over 40 Chinese POGO workers were rescued from the clutches of their abductors while a number of Chinese were also arrested for involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
On Saturday, the PNP and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ordered a closure of POGO in Angeles City in Pampanga.
“The reason why we engaged PAGCOR and BI and even DOJ (Department of Justice) is that we really need to put our acts together. We should share information together to monitor the entry of Chinese in the country,” said Azurin.
System of Monitoring
Azurin earlier disclosed that the PNP maintained a hands-off policy on POGO since they were told before not to meddle on POGO-issues unless there would be a crime that would be committed.
With the PNP being bashed on the social media in the past weeks, Azurin started training his eyes on POGO after learning that almost of kidnapping cases, some of them went viral, involved POGO workers.
He said there is a need to strictly monitor the entry and the status of POGO workers in the country as part of the peace and order.
Aside from BI intervention in the documentation process, Azurin said they also want the PAGCOR to regularly update them of the legal POGO operators in the country.
In this way, he explained that they would be able to locate the overstaying POGO workers in the country.
Azurin also recommended that all POGO workers must secure both police and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances before they are allowed to work in the Philippines.
He issued the recommendation after they noticed that the government has no proper system in the documentation of POGIO workers.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this new development? Do you support the PNP’s crackdown on the undocumented and overstaying POGO workers all over the nation? Does your local community have lots of foreigners who are currently employed by POGOs? Do you think that some of the foreign employees of POGOs are fugitives from overseas? Whenever you see Chinese nationals physically present in your local community, do you often think about POGOs immediately?
Thanks to the collective efforts of local law enforcers, more than one hundred foreign and local workers from two Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) establishments in the provinces of Pampanga and Rizal, according to GMA Network’s news reports. Human trafficking and physical abuses are notable elements in the reports.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the GMA news report about the Rizal rescue. Some parts in boldface…
Authorities rescued over 100 allegedly abused foreign and Filipino Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers in Cainta, Rizal, John Consulta reported on 24 Oras Weekend.
The Bureau of Immigration and National Bureau of Investigation conducted an operation on Saturday to rescue workers who were allegedly tortured and held against their will by fellow foreigners.
The victims claimed they were not being paid, while one of the workers alleged that he was kidnapped and forced to work for the POGO. Others were promised free board, lodging, and a high salary for working 22 hours a day.
But even if they were forced to work long hours without being paid, the workers were still allegedly physically punished if they were caught sleeping on the job. Wounds were seen on a worker’s back.
Suspect Lee Mengqiang, a Chinese national, denied harming the POGO workers.
Meanwhile, the NBI also discovered that the POGO’s permit had expired but continued to operate.
Now here is the related news video about the above news story. Watch the video and pay close attention…
About the POGO and rescue of workers in Pampanga, posted below is an excerpt from the GMA Network report. Some parts in boldface…
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Saturday said it shut down a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) establishment in Pampanga and rescued at least 43 foreign nationals from allegedly human trafficking.
Following a series of raids, DILG secretary Benhur Abalos and officials of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group permanently closed the Lucky 99 Outsourcing Inc. offices, located at Fil-Am Friendship Hi-Way in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Abalos said the raids resulted in the rescue of the foreign nationals who were brought to the establishment.
The DILG secretary said the police would continue to apprehend individuals involved in similar illegal activities as part of the intensified crackdown on POGOs involved in human trafficking.
“With the help of PAGCOR and the SEC, we will be able to identify who are the individuals behind this illegality,” he said in a statement.
Abalos said the DILG also sought assistance from the Bureau of Immigration to check the visas of the rescued foreign nationals.
“We will make sure that all victims will be accorded due process as the Immigration [Bureau] checks their documents and visas properly to avoid being victimized again,” he said.
The DILG Secretary also encouraged the public to report such illegal activities in their respective areas.
“We are nearing the end of the pandemic and the only way to put a stop to this is by working together,” he added.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: What do you think about these new developments? Are you now concerned that POGOs operating in your city could be secretly committing crimes such as kidnapping, physical abuse and human trafficking? Do you think that the POGOs in your city are somehow adding to new incidents of kidnapping, prostitution, gun smuggling, torture and other criminal activities? Do you believe that the government should permanently shut down POGOs that are involved in criminal activities?
Welcome back fellow geeks, Blu-ray collectors and movie buffs! When it comes to cinematic martial arts and stunt works that are thrilling to watch, I can say Hong Kong action filmmakers and performers really stand out. More notably, Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh are the cinematic icons of Asia whose decades-old works remain memorable to this day.
That being said, if you are fond of Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh, and if you want something really fun to add to your collection of 4K Blu-ray movies, then you should get ready for the release of the 4K Blu-ray of the 1992 Hong Kong action film Police Story 3: Supercop (also referred to as Police Story III: Supercop) which has been set for December 13, 2022. Police Story 3: Supercop 4K Blu-ray will come with extra stuff and key features. Check out the official product trailer below…
I personally am interested in this upcoming 4K Blu-ray of the movie that had Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh as the stars. For one thing, I only saw the Dimension Films version released in 1996 simply titled Supercop and that version had some content of the original Hong Kong version cut out. I am also interested in the extra stuff related to the dangerous stunts Chan and Yeoh pulled off while making the film. Other aspects of the film’s production, which includes filming in Malaysia, are something I would like to see.
As for the movie itself, it has a lot of thrills and to watch them – as well as Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh themselves – again in 4K is something to look out for. On the aspects of story and continuity, this 1992 movie was the 2nd sequel to the original Police Story (1985) movie that I saw long time ago on home video. Filled with lots of action, very dangerous stunts (note: Chan doing the dangerous pole stunt with exploding electric lights inside a shopping mall was the definitive stunt to see) and car chases, Police Story became successful and spawned sequels. Police Story 3: Supercop had Chan working with Michelle Yeoh (note: this was her comeback) and in my view, they had fine chemistry together and proved how great they are with fighting and stunt work. No computer-generated images here as the action and stunts were really done by the stars with high risk and danger. Chan and Yeoh are movie legends now and their team-up in 1992 is alone a solid reason to anticipate the 4K Blu-ray release.

Watch out for Police Story 3: Supercop 4K Blu-ray on December 13, 2022.

Top Gun: Maverick was released more than thirty years after its predecessor first came out. The 1986 Top Gun itself did not just make a tremendous amount of money in terms of ticket sales as it also made its mark in American pop culture complete with a memorable soundtrack and having notable actors like Val Kilmer, Michael Ironside (note: check out my retro review of V: The Final Battle plus my article about its Blu-ray release), Meg Ryan and Tim Robbinsas supporting cast members. To know more about the 1986 classic, watch Oliver Harper’s in-depth retrospective by clicking here.
More on Top Gun: Maverick, the movie’s success during this COVID-19 pandemic age is astounding as it grossed past $1 billion worldwide and literally it reinvigorated movie theaters around the world! For context, posted below is an excerpt from a recent Forbes.com article regarding the theatrical success. Some parts in boldface…
Top Gun: Maverick’s exceptional success supplied a giant lifeline to theaters and cover for studios willfully underdelivering regular theatrical products in an uncommonly sparse summer. Top Gun: Maverick accounted for 23% of the domestic summer movie line-up. That is partially because it earned around $500 million more than even the rosiest projections.
Top Gun: Maverick also came with the benefits of advanced cinematography technologies and methods which made its flight scenes very pleasing to watch. Practical effects and daring flying methods were used which added to the organic nature of the movie’s visuals which is something that computer-generate imaging (CGI) cannot do. The production team also used IMAX cameras and if the movie is still playing in the near IMAX cinema near you, I encourage you to go watch it while you still have time.
Another notable thing about Top Gun: Maverick is that it defied the wokeness of Commiewood (Communist Hollywood) and emphasized American patriotism. For the newcomers reading this, be aware that there are many millions of socialists, Marxists, Communists and unpatriotic people among young people in America who were brainwashed by the socialists who worked as so-called educators in colleges. Take note from the excerpt posted below sourced from The Daily Mail. Some parts in boldface…
Top Gun is a straightforward action movie that celebrates all that is good about our country and our military.
Add to that the handsome leading men, a romantic drama with Cruise’s love interest Jennifer Connelly, and a new generation of actors and ‘pilots,’ like Miles Teller, and you have darn sequel.
There is also a really moving scene between Maverick and Iceman (Cruise and Val Kilmer) and I am woman enough to admit I cried through it.
But above all else — the movie isn’t overly political, it isn’t depressing, it isn’t focusing on the flaws of the United States of America and why we suck and why our flag and national anthem aren’t worth honoring.
The filmmakers also took a stand against the sickening Hollywood trend of pandering to the demands of the totalitarian Chinese government.
In the 1986 original movie, there is a patch depicting the Taiwanese flag on Maverick’s flight jacket. But during 2019 previews, the patch had been removed to alleged appease Chinese censors.
Movie-goers were happy to see the flag had been restored in the film — a signal that neither the filmmakers nor Cruise are content with being lapdogs to the Chinese regime.
I absolutely loved the movie and I felt good leaving the theatre that evening.
Hollywood must wake up to the reality that ‘go woke, go broke’ is real.
Considering its major achievements that go beyond ticket sales, Top Gun: Maverick is the modern-day entertainment marvel just waiting to be discovered by a lot more people who still have not seen it. Expect Top Gun: Maverick to be among the most wanted titles on Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray formats this coming Christmas shopping season. Watching the Tom Cruise-led movie in the cinemas, on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray is simply better than streaming.
Watch out for Top Gun: Maverick 4K Blu-ray on November 1, 2022.

Crime in Parañaque City is involving Chinese nationals is back in the spotlight as local police officers arrested four Chinese persons for the alleged kidnapping of a fellow compatriot, the Manila Bulletin reported. The arrest happened in Barangay Tambo, and the police found guns and illegal drugs.
To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…
Four Chinese nationals were arrested by patrolling policemen allegedly after kidnapping their fellow citizen in Parañaque City Sunday, July 24.
Col. Maximo Sebastian, Paranaque City police chief, identified the suspects Hu Tang, 30; Jiang Zhengxing, 29; Liu Lu, 30; and Gud Hui,36.
Sebastian said the suspects were arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Macapagal Ave. corner Bradco Ave. in Barangay Tambo.
The city police chief said members of Parañaque Police Sub-Station 2 were conducting patrol when ASEANA security guards sought their help after witnessing a kidnapping incident.
The cops together with the security guards blocked the metallic gray Peugot Sedan of the suspects and rescued the victim identified as Zhijie Huang, 32.
The city police chief said the lawmen found inside the car of the suspects one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing shabu, two .9mm pistols, one long airsoft gun, and drug paraphernalia.
The above report ended stating that the suspects will be charged for kidnapping and possession of illegal drugs.
Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are living in Parañaque City, what is your reaction to this report? Do you think that Parañaque will remain a hot spot for criminal activities involving Chinese nationals? Do you believe that the Chinese in Parañaque have easy access to guns and illegal drugs? Are there a lot of Chinese nationals occupying houses in your local community right now?
