Recently in Parañaque City, law enforcers apprehended three men for the robbery of a restaurant as well as the illegal possession of firearms and explosives, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Three men were arrested for robbing a restaurant and for illegal possession of firearms and explosives following a backtracking police operation conducted by the Parañaque City Police on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as alias “Samrix,” 32; alias “Jhoward,” 24; and alias “Rowel,” 26.

The police report showed that the suspects were arrested at around 3:41 a.m. after their heist at a restaurant in Barangay San Isidro.

The police said the suspects, armed with firearms and a hand grenade, immediately fled going to the direction of Barangay Baclaran after taking with them P13,000 cash and multiple mobile phones from the employees who they locked inside a locker room.

After their arrest, the suspects yielded a .22 caliber revolver with three live rounds, a hand grenade, two pen guns loaded with four rounds of .9mm ammunition, and a black motorcycle without a plate number.

Men who robbed El Grande Avenue house in Las Piñas City arrested

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, local police officers arrested three “Akyat Bahay” gang members who broke into a house along El Grande Avenue and robbed it of valuables, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The incident happened within the jurisdiction of Barangay BF International-CAA and the suspects were caught hiding in the house ceiling.

Three members of “Akyat Bahay” gang were caught by members of the Las Piñas City Police hiding in the ceiling of the house they robbed of valuable items on Jan. 7.

Las Piñas City Police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla identified the suspects as alias “Anthony,” 24; alias “Andrei,” 21; and alias “Paul,” 19, all residents of Parañaque City.

They were apprehended at around 3:00 p.m. at a house on El Grande Avenue in Barangay BF International/CAA Las Piñas City.

Tafalla said the victim, identified as alias “Ernesto,”67, visited his house and discovered that it was ransacked, prompting him to immediately report the incident to the police.

He said the suspects were found hiding in the ceiling of the house of the victim during the investigation by responding policemen, village security personnel and barangay officials.

The victim claimed that his 42-inch Sony flat-screen TV worth P60,000, a 43-inch Devant flat-screen TV worth P50,000, and a Mac computer valued at P100,000 were stolen and not recovered. Tafalla said an air conditioning unit worth P70,000 was recovered at the scene.

He said the suspects also damaged a circuit breaker worth P120,000.00, the ceiling worth P50,000, and floor tiles and sliding door each valued at P50,000.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, three who were involved in an armed robbery that took place inside a village were apprehended by the local police, according to a news report by the Daily Tribune.

Three suspected robbers involved in an armed robbery at a residence in Multinational Village, Parañaque City, have been arrested by the Parañaque City police.

According to a report received by Police Brigadier General Bernard R Yang, District Director, a group of six armed male suspects entered the parking lot of a house located at the intersection of Matthew Street and Multinational Avenue. The victims, two Chinese nationals and four Filipinos residing in the house, were held at gunpoint. The suspects bound the victims with duct tape and tied up the in-house security guard, S/G Julius, before moving to the master’s bedroom.

The primary victim, identified as Lin, Chinese national, was threatened and forced to open a vault, from which the suspects stole approximately ₱700,000.00 in cash, ₱280,000.00 from another victim, Yu, and assorted jewelry valued at around ₱400,000. The suspects fled the scene in a sedan, exiting through Multinational Gate 1.

Through coordinated follow-up operations, Parañaque City Police Station’s intelligence and operational teams traced the suspects’ vehicle movements. Witness testimony led to the identification of one suspect, alias “Brian.”

As a result of diligent investigative efforts, law enforcement apprehended three individuals, alias “Brian” (38), John (33), and Jevic (29), all drivers by occupation. Three additional suspects, identified as alias Ruel (40), Ramel (40) and alias Agustin (37), remain at large, with ongoing efforts to locate them.

In response to the robbery and rape of a Vietnamese woman who availed of a private transportation service in Parañaque City, the and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) launched an investigation and could penalize Grab Philippines, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news report.

It should be recalled that the victim was dropped off in Barangay San Dionisio where she reported to the police who in turn arrested the suspect driver in Laguna. The driver’s accomplice has yet to be caught as of this writing. The suspect driver admitted to the crime that happened.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has launched an investigation into the alleged robbery and sexual assault against a Vietnamese national and is eyeing sanctions against transport network vehicle service (TNVS) company Grab Philippines.

In a statement on Wednesday, LTFRB chair Teofilo Guadiz III said a letter was sent to Grab asking to explain what transpired during the incident. Grab has five days to explain before the LTFRB decides on the case.

“Puwede ho naming ma-suspend ‘yung kanilang app for at least 30 days sa first offense po, kung makita mang may kapabayaan po, pero ‘yan po ay gagawin namin ‘yan as a matter of due process (We can suspend their app for at least 30 days as a first offense, if we see negligence. But we will do that as part of due process),” Guadiz said.

Aside from suspension, the company may also face fines if found negligent. Possible sanctions will be enacted after the investigation.

To date, the LTFRB has filed a police report to validate the facts of the case, has written to Grab, and has also reached out to the victim to get her side of the story.

“Mag-iimbestiga kami definitely and then kung sino nga po yung may kasalanan, mananagot po (We will definitely investigate and whoever is found guilty, they will be held accountable),” he said.

He called on the public to be cautious in using ride-hailing apps and to inform a trusted person about the details of their trip.

“Always verify the driver’s identity, share your trip details with a trusted person, and stay alert throughout the journey to ensure your safety,” he said.

On Sept. 5, a Vietnamese woman was allegedly robbed and raped during a ride with a TNVS service in Parañaque City.

The woman was said to have been driven around by the driver and they were later joined in the vehicle by an accomplice. The accomplice threatened the victim with a knife and took PHP35,000 in cash before the sexual assault.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a woman from Vietnam who availed of a private transportation service was held against her will, robbed and raped, according to a GMA Network news report. The driver of the vehicle got arrested while the other suspect remains free and on the loose.

A Vietnamese woman was allegedly held up and raped during a ride hailing service after booking a ride last September 5 in Paranaque City.

In Nico Waje’s report in Saksi on Monday, CCTV footage showed that a ride-hailing service car entered into a subdivision in Paranaque City to pick up the foreigner at around 4 a.m. of Thursday last week.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said that the 32-year-old victim was robbed inside the vehicle by the driver’s accomplice.

“Pinaikot-ikot siya nitong ating suspek na driver. Tapos mayroon din pong sumakay na isa pang kasabwat nitong ating driver,” said SPD Public Information Office chief Police Major Hazel Asilo.

(The driver just drove around in circles. Then another man, his accomplice, suddenly boarded the car.)

At knife point, the accomplice took P35,000 in cash from the woman, the report said. Police added the victim was sexually assaulted by the suspects.

“Matapos siyang nakawan, kuhain ‘yung kaniyang pera at saka ‘yung kanyang cellphone ay ginahasa rin po ‘yung ating Vietnamese na victim. So bago po siya maibaba ay nanakawan na siya at nagahasa pa siya,” said Asilo.

(After her money and cellphone was taken from her, the Vietnamese victim was also raped. So before she was dropped off, she was robbed and raped.)

The victim was dropped off at Barangay San Dionisio in Paranaque City where she reported the incident to police. The driver suspect was arrested in Cabuyao, Laguna in a follow-up operation last September 7.

“Umako naman po siya sa mga ginawa nila…modus na po ito nitong ating mga suspek. Although ilang beses na nilang nagawa, hindi po sila nahuhuli dahil wala pong nare-report,” said Asilo.

(He admitted to their crimes…they’ve been doing this modus for a long time. They’ve done this several times, but they were never caught because no one was reporting them.)

When confronted, the driver said that it was his accomplice who raped the victim, which the latter also confirmed.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a security guard foiled a robbery attempt resulting in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of the victim’s handbag, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The incident happened in Barangay Tambo and there are two other suspects still at large.

A security guard successfully arrested one of the three suspects who tried to rob a woman in Parañaque City on Wednesday, August 21.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect identified as “Armando,” 44, was arrested at around 3:00 p.m. along Roxas Boulevard corner Bradco Avenue in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

Based on the police report, a 28-year-old woman had just got out from a taxi when she was approached by the suspects brandishing a handgun and forcibly took her handbag.

The security guard on-duty was then alerted by the victim’s shout and immediately responded leading to the arrest of Armando.

The hero guard recovered the victim’s handbag and a replica .45 caliber pistol from the suspect.

Meanwhile, his two other cohorts identified as “Kalapati” and “Norby” escaped. The police is now conducting a follow-up operation for the arrest of the two.

If you have been traveling along the Metro Manila Skyway, did you notice gang-related activities along the way? I had to ask that question because it turns out a certain gang composed of people who wore hoodies and bonnets and wielded axes had committed acts of robbery along the Skyway more than once and reportedly robbed P134 million from motorists. Very recently, two alleged members of the gang were arrested by the police, according to a GMA Network news report.

Police arrested two suspects from a group of ax-wielding men preying on motorists in the Skyway who have stolen over P134 million from their victims.

According to a report by John Consulta on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, two suspects have been arrested in separate police operations.

 Last August 22, dashcam footage showed the suspects robbing a car along the Skyway ramp at 5:30 p.m. in broad daylight. Armed with axes and wearing bonnets and hoodies, the men used their vehicle to block another car and robbed its occupants of P10 million.

On March 12, another video showed a car suddenly stop in front of the victim’s car while another vehicle blocked it from behind. Four armed men emerged and stole a bag containing P7 million from the Korean victim.

“Dito sa Entertainment City (sa Paranaque City) nanggagaling, aabangan nila, pagpasok ng Skyway mismo, iipitin nila yung sasakyan. Passenger side na salamin pinalakol nila then nabuksan nila yung pinto, nakuha nila yung pera,” said Police Colonel Mendez, NCRPO Regional Intelligence Division Chief.

Police traced one of the suspects behind the attack in Malate, Manila. During the operation on Tuesday, suspect Anjo Sardoma tried to escape by jumping from the third floor of a building.

Police seized a revolver and a hand grenade from Sardoma,.who was identified as the driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) outside a casino hotel where one of the victims came from. The SUV was one of the vehicles involved in a robbery on the Skyway.

Armed with a search warrant, a team from Police Regional Office-4-A arrested another suspect, Joland Cabotaje, in Cavite. A gun was confiscated from Cabotaje.

The NCRPO said Cabotaje and Sardoma are cousins who are said to be members of the “Skyway Robbery Holdup Group” that has staged eight robberies that yielded P134 million in loot.

Mendez said their intelligence efforts managed to identify the group whose vehicle license plates matched those on the CCTV of the cars that were used in the previous robberies.

Both men denied the accusations against them.

In the City of Las Piñas, two armed men – aged 22 and 19 – were apprehended by the local police for robbing an electric bike (e-bike) store, the Manila Bulletin reported. Quite notably, the suspects were caught in the act carrying a vault/safe.

Two suspects who robbed an e-bike store were arrested by the Las Piñas police’s Talon Sub-Station on Monday, June 27.

Police identified the suspects as Marvin Torion, 22, and his younger brother Ricky, 19, both residents of Las Piñas City. The suspects are now detained at the Las Piñas police custodial facility and were charged with robbery and illegal possession of deadly weapon.

Col. Jaime Santos, city police chief, said the incident happened around 2:35 a.m. at Ruipjey E-Bikes located along Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Talon Uno

Santos said members of the Talon Sub-Station received a telephone call from Abdul Rashid Malang, a member of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), who said he saw the suspects enter the e-bike store.

Personnel from the Talon Sib-Station immediately responded and proceeded to the store and caught the suspects carrying a vault containing P108,520 in cash.

The above report ended stating that the police recovered from the suspects a knife, a screw driver and a claw bar.
