Makers of fake passports and ID cards for POGO workers arrested

There is no doubt that Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) added a lot to criminal activities and pain in the country which is why a national ban on them was declared. Still there is a lot to uncover with regards to the processing of records of people – both foreign and local – who worked for POGOs. Recently, law enforcers raided an office that turned out to be making fake passports and ID cards for POGO workers, according to a GMA Network news report. The suspects were arrested for falsifying public documents.

An office manufacturing fake documents like identification cards and passports was raided by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in Sampaloc, Manila.

According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras,” it was also discovered that the group was making fake IDs and passports for Chinese and Filipinos who work for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.

The location appears to be just a photocopying stall from the outside, but upon entering, the equipment and tools allegedly used to make fake IDs and documents were seen.

Pieces of evidence were recovered in the raid such as documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), drug tests with negative results, and agency IDs, all of which are fake.

Several Central Processing Units (CPU) of the computers were also recovered, where the files of the contractors who work at POGO are being kept.

According to the NCRPO, this started with the fake IDs and passports of the Chinese that they handed over to the scam hub in Parañaque last month.

“Medyo mahirap-hirap hanapin. Palipat-lipat sila. Ang transaction ay three different persons. We were able to arrest personalities involved in the forging, falsification at paggawa nitong items na ito, lalo na ang passport, identification card, and birth certificate,” said Police Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, NCRPO Regional Director.

(It’s a little hard to find. They move around. The transaction involves three different persons.)

Since the POGOs in the country are only valid until December, the NCRPO suspects that the Chinese are now busy making Philippine passports for them to stay in the Philippines.

“Ang kailangan nila during their travel, para undetected na maka-travel is to produce these kind of documents, lalo na ang passport,” said Nartatez.

(What they need during their travel, to be able to travel undetected is to produce these kinds of documents, especially the passport.)

Las Piñas City Government releases cash aid to over 2,000 “Tara, Basa” beneficiaries

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, more than two thousand beneficiaries of the “Tara, Basa” program received cash aid from the City Government (in tandem with the Department of Social Welfare and Development), according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The Las Piñas city government, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), distributed cash aid to 2,119 beneficiaries of its “Tara,Basa” tutoring program on Thursday, September 12.

Las Piñas city Vice-Mayor April Aguilar led the distribution held at the Verdant covered court in Barangay Pamplona Tres.

Aguilar said the beneficiaries who finished the 20-day tutorial session received P4,700 cash for their service as tutors or youth development workers.

The tutoring program is a new initiative by the DSWD aimed at employing college students from low-income families as tutors for elementary school children struggling with reading.

Through the 20-day tutorial sessions, the tutors not only help improve literacy among young learners but also provide training for parents or guardians, enabling them to continue the tutorial support at home.

Meanwhile, parents who attended the 20-day “Nanay-Tatay” sessions covering topics such as communication and child behavior, were also given cash aid for their active participation.

Three Chinese nationals arrested in Parañaque City for kidnapping Malaysian

Recently in the city of Parañaque, three Chinese nationals were arrested by the local police for the kidnapping of a Malaysian national, according to a news article by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). The police reacted to a report by the friend (a fellow Malaysian) of the victim who eventually got rescued.

Three Chinese nationals were arrested for allegedly abducting a Malaysian national in Parañaque City on Monday.

In a report, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as Li Xue Chang, 34; Huang Guanghong, 27; and Wang Yefu, 24; all residents of Shore Residences in Pasay City.

The suspects were arrested in an entrapment operation by the Parañaque City Police Station at about 5:30 a.m. along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Barangay Tambo, which also led to the rescue of the 42-year-old victim.

Seized from the suspects were three caliber .45 pistols, six magazines, 38 rounds of ammunition, a bolo, a pocket knife, four cellular phones, boodle money, and a silver Mitsubishi Adventure vehicle used in the crime.

Investigation showed that the suspects abducted the victim at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 6 in Barangay Tambo.

The operation stemmed from the report of the victim’s friend, also a Malaysian national, who claimed the suspects sent him ransom demands and photos of the victim being tortured via messaging app Telegram on Sunday.

The arrested suspects are now facing criminal complaints of kidnapping, violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Batas Pambansa 6 (An Act Regulating the Sale, Use, and Possession of Bladed, Pointed, or Deadly Weapons).

P85 million worth of assorted products in Parañaque City seized by BOC

Recently in the city of Parañaque, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized about P85 million worth of agricultural products, beverages and other imported items after doing an inspection at a local warehouse, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article.

An inspection of a warehouse in Parañaque City has yielded around PHP85 million worth of smuggled frozen agricultural and beverage products, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported on Sunday.

Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the operation was conducted after he issued a Letter of Authority (LOA) by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) on Sept. 5.

Rubio said operatives of the CIIS-MICP served the LOA to a representative of the warehouse that was found containing various poultry, meat and other products from China suspected to be without proper customs duties and taxes.

“The audacity of these people to smuggle and hide agricultural products right in the heart of Metro Manila is beyond me. They belittle our laws and make a mockery of our hardworking Customs agents by thinking they can operate these illegal activities just a few kilometers from our port,” he said in a statement.

BOC-CIIS Director Verne Enciso said they found frozen duck meat, chicken meat, pork meat and food items with Chinese markings, and assorted food and beverage with foreign markings.

“The initial inventory found that these poultry products will amount to about PHP85 million in the market. But we’re still determining the actual cost once final inventory is conducted by our examiners,” he said.

The warehouse was temporarily padlocked and sealed to protect the subjected goods as the final inventory will be conducted by the assigned Customs examiner and witnessed by warehouse representatives, CIIS and Enforcement and Security Service.

The owners of the warehouses will be given 15 days to present the proper documents to clear out allegations they were hoarding imported agricultural products.

Criminal cases were filed against a Chinese national who was arrested in Parañaque for medical malpractice, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported on Friday.

Xu Yisheng, also known as Xu Xingzhe, underwent inquest proceedings before the office of the city prosecutor of Parañaque for violation of Republic Act 2382, or the Medical Act and estafa, NBI director Jaime Santiago said.

Santiago said they received information that Xu was maintaining a clinic in Parañaque and offering medical services to his compatriots for a fee.

The NBI, together with the Professional Regulation Commission, found out that the suspect is neither a licensed physician, nurse nor medical technologist and is not authorized to practice medicine in the country.

Las Piñas City’s mobile kitchen provides meals to typhoon victims in four evacuation centers

The “Kusina ng Las Piñas” or mobile kitchen visited the four evacuation centers in the city housing victims of Tropical Storm Enteng to provide them with nutritious food.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the deployment of the “Kusina ng Las Piñas” to provide hot meals to evacuees at the Verdant court, Carmencita covered court, Pulanglupa 2 Evacuation Center, and at the Pagtakhan covered court.

Aguilar said the city government recorded a total of 761 individuals who sought temporary shelter at evacuation sites at the peak of Enteng.

She said the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) reported that 150 individuals or 43 families in Barangay Talon Tres were evacuated to the Carmencita Covered Court, 131 individuals or 29 families from Talon Kuatro were staying at the Pagtakhan covered court, 435 individuals or 110 families from Pamplona Tres were staying at the Verdant Covered Court, and 45 individuals or 17 families from Manuyo Dos.

The mayor said Vice-Mayor April Aguilar immediately responded to personally monitor the evacuees to ensure their safety and medical needs.

Vietnamese woman robbed and raped in Parañaque City, one suspect arrested and the other still on the loose

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a woman from Vietnam who availed of a private transportation service was held against her will, robbed and raped, according to a GMA Network news report. The driver of the vehicle got arrested while the other suspect remains free and on the loose.

A Vietnamese woman was allegedly held up and raped during a ride hailing service after booking a ride last September 5 in Paranaque City.

In Nico Waje’s report in Saksi on Monday, CCTV footage showed that a ride-hailing service car entered into a subdivision in Paranaque City to pick up the foreigner at around 4 a.m. of Thursday last week.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said that the 32-year-old victim was robbed inside the vehicle by the driver’s accomplice.

“Pinaikot-ikot siya nitong ating suspek na driver. Tapos mayroon din pong sumakay na isa pang kasabwat nitong ating driver,” said SPD Public Information Office chief Police Major Hazel Asilo.

(The driver just drove around in circles. Then another man, his accomplice, suddenly boarded the car.)

At knife point, the accomplice took P35,000 in cash from the woman, the report said. Police added the victim was sexually assaulted by the suspects.

“Matapos siyang nakawan, kuhain ‘yung kaniyang pera at saka ‘yung kanyang cellphone ay ginahasa rin po ‘yung ating Vietnamese na victim. So bago po siya maibaba ay nanakawan na siya at nagahasa pa siya,” said Asilo.

(After her money and cellphone was taken from her, the Vietnamese victim was also raped. So before she was dropped off, she was robbed and raped.)

The victim was dropped off at Barangay San Dionisio in Paranaque City where she reported the incident to police. The driver suspect was arrested in Cabuyao, Laguna in a follow-up operation last September 7.

“Umako naman po siya sa mga ginawa nila…modus na po ito nitong ating mga suspek. Although ilang beses na nilang nagawa, hindi po sila nahuhuli dahil wala pong nare-report,” said Asilo.

(He admitted to their crimes…they’ve been doing this modus for a long time. They’ve done this several times, but they were never caught because no one was reporting them.)

When confronted, the driver said that it was his accomplice who raped the victim, which the latter also confirmed.

Two akyat-bahay suspects arrested in Las Piñas City

Two “akyat- bahay” members were arrested by members of the Las Piñas City CAA substation early morning of Saturday, August 31.

Las Piñas City police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla identified the suspects as alias “Jason,” 22, and alias “Oscar,” 34. They were arrested inside a subdivision in Barangay Pulanglupa Dos, Las Piñas City.

Tafalla said the victim, identified as alias “Russel,” was awakened by the loud barking of his dogs at around 1:30 a.m. and discovered the suspects inside his home and had stolen a cellular phone and a silver watch.

He said the suspects tried to flee but his neighbors had already called for police assistance which led to the arrest of the suspects.

The city police chief said recovered from alias Jayson was a .38 caliber loaded with ammunitions while an unknown caliber pistol and shoulder bag where the stolen items were placed were confiscated from alias Oscar.

Seven suspects, including three Chinese nationals, were arrested for allegedly abducting three foreigners in Parañaque City, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Tuesday.

In a report, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspects as Liu Yujie, 39; Weichun Xu, 35; and Donbo Lyu, 35; all Chinese nationals; and Jon Jon Osquiza, 45; Jerico Mamaril, 29; Brian Barado, 33; and Ruel Arenas, 42.

Nartatez said the incident happened around 4 a.m. Monday when the suspects barged into a house inside the Multinational Village in Barangay Moonwalk, which is being rented by three women — two Chinese nationals and a Vietnamese.

He said the suspects destroyed closed-circuit television cameras while they took the cellphone of the victims’ driver Kevin Christian Julu-an and a housemaid. The suspects took the victims and forced them into their getaway vehicle, a white Toyota Alphard minivan.

Julu-an immediately reported the incident to the local police, which launched an operation.

At about 4 p.m., the police tracked the suspects’ hideout on another street in the same village and arrested them.
