2nd diagnostic center opened by Las Piñas City Government

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, the City Government formally launched a 2^nd diagnostic center in Barangay Daniel Fajardo, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The previous diagnostics center was launched in 2023 at the vicinity of City Hall.

The Las Piñas City government unveiled the city’s second diagnostic center as part of its comprehensive health program.

Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, together with City Health Office (CHO) head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez led the unveiling of the diagnostic center located in (Barangay) Daniel Fajardo.

Gonzales said the center is prepared to offer a range of different laboratory services and can accommodate about 100 people a day.

“Tayo po ay magbibigay ng mga serbisyong pang laboratory tulad (We will provide laboratory services such as) ng CBC (complete blood count test), urinalysis, examination para sa (for) cholesterol, uric acid, sugar, creatinine, at sa (and) liver function test,” Gonzalez said.

She added that electrocardiogram tests (ECG) and complimentary x-ray services will be provided to eligible Green Card holders.

The CHO head said by adding another diagnostic center to its growing list of healthcare service facilities, essential laboratory and diagnostic services are now readily available and more accessible to Las Piñas residents.

Gonzalez said the presence of the city mayor and vice-mayor during the opening reflects the local government’s commitment to making healthcare services more accessible.

Bazaar, Mayor’s Gallery and other activities at Las Piñas City Hall set for March 25 and 26, 2024

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, the City Government announced that special activities related to the dual celebrations of Las Piñas’ founding and cityhood anniversaries will take place at City Hall on March 25 and 26, 2024, according to the social media post of March 6, 2024.

On March 25, a cultural dance presentation will happen at City Hall at 7AM.

On March 25 and 26, a bazaar will take place at the City Hall Quadrangle starting 8AM up to 5PM. There will be a variety of goods that visitors will find.

On March 26 at 3PM, the unveiling of the Las Piñas City Mayor’s Gallery will take place at the lobby of the Mayor’s Office inside City Hall. At the quadrangle just outside, the Bayan ng Las Piñas one-act play will start at 5PM and last until 7PM. At 6PM, the launch of “Tahanan” will commence.

March 27 is a special non-working day as previously announced by Malacañang Palace recognizing the dual celebrations of the city’s founding and cityhood anniversaries.

The drive saw the vaccination of over 700 senior citizens, protecting their vulnerable population from pneumonia, a leading cause of morbidity among the elderly.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-National Capital Region (NCR) recognized the Las Piñas Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) for its efficient and effective conduct and monitoring of job fairs that contributed to the increase of employment in the region.

Vice-Mayor April Aguilar said the department was awarded by the DOLE-NCR as best performing PESO in job placement for 2023.

The recognition was given to PESO during the regular flag raising ceremony on Monday, March 4.

New Life Community Care Foundation International, Inc. (NLCOM) feeds hundreds of victims in Brgy. Pilar Village, Las Piñas City

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a fire broke out in Maligaya Compound within Barangay Pilar Village which destroyed about thirty homes and left many residents homeless.

In response, New Life Community Care Foundation International, Inc. (NLCOM) – the compassion arm of New Life Philippines located inside Alabang Hills Village in Muntinlupa City – sent a team to the location and prepared hot meals for hundreds of victims.

Today, NLCOM reached out and served hot meals the whole day – Pancit Canton and Chicken Adobo to the 399 individuals who were affected in the fire that started in Maligaya Compound in Barangay Pilar, Las Piñãs City on February 22.

The Bureau of Fire Protection reported the blaze starting at 8:25 a.m. Firefighters battled for nearly four hours to extinguish the flames that rapidly swept through the densely populated compound reducing about 30 homes into ashes.

They are still in need of assistance, and here are some ways you can help:

Donations – Provide essentials like clothing, food, and hygiene products.

Shelter – Offer temporary shelter for displaced families.

Volunteer- Assist in relief operations or support services.

Members of the Las Piñas City Police- Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) conducted an operation against wanted persons that led to the arrest of a drug suspect on Friday, Feb. 16.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the suspect identified as Efondo Masanga, 43, listed as the top eight wanted persons for February, was arrested at around 3:30 p.m. along Barangay CAA, Las Piñas City.

The SPD said members of the WSS in coordination with personnel from the Station Intelligence Section nabbed the suspect by a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Josefina Eco Siscar of Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 201 last Feb. 1, in violation of illegal drug possession.

The Las Piñas City government and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority launched “ Bayanihan sa Barangay,” a project that will invoke the “bayanihan” spirit among Filipinos in cleaning up the surroundings, on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Barangay BF International, CAA.

The “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project was personally supervised by Las Piñas City Administrator Reynaldo Balagulan with Public Information Office chief Paul Ahljay San Miguel in coordination with MMDA General Manager, Ret. P/Col. Procopio Lipana.

Balagulan said the project aims to conduct clearing operations on sidewalks, roads, markets, creeks, place traffic signages, and cut obstructive and dead trees.
