The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), with the Philippine National Police, seized P197.2 million worth of drugs in a buy-bust operation in ParaƱaque City on Saturday.
According to a statement, the buy-bust occurred at an exclusive subdivision around 5 p.m. and led to the arrest of two individuals.
The suspects allegedly took advantage of the subdivisionās strict security protocols to avoid surveillance and intelligence operations by Philippine authorities.
Along with the suspects, police seized 29 aluminum packets weighing an estimated 29 kilograms, labelled āFreeze-dried Durianā in Chinese characters.
The packets contained white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu worth P197,200,000. Authorities also confiscated mobile phones, buy-bust money, and a pink paper bag used in the transaction.

The 129,213 votes Bernabe gathered is the largest ever in his career as an elected public servant of ParaƱaque. That being said, it is not surprising that there were rounds of cheers of āBernabe! Bernabe! Bernabe!ā during the proclamation. Given the fact that Team Pag-Asa was pretty small in terms of candidates, Bernabe’s victory is clearly a tremendous achievement.
For the newcomers reading this, Bernabe previously served as City Councilor (District 2) from 2010 to 2013. He ran for Mayor in 2013 but ended up short. Bernabe is the son of Florencio āJunā Bernabe who was ParaƱaqueās Vice Mayor from 1998 to 2004, and was the Mayor from 2004 to 2013. It is clear that Benjo Bernabeās victory is a strong political comeback for the Bernabe family.
Small team, big victories
Bernabeās Team Pag-Asa teammates also scored notable victories as well. Partylist Representative Brian Yamsuan was proclaimed as the new Representative of ParaƱaqueās 2nd district after defeating incumbent Representative Gus Tambunting by a score of 81,999 to 72,077 votes as of this writing. Former City Councilors Tess de Asis and Binky Favis got re-elected with huge scores of 111,737 and 103,800 votes respectively in District 2. De Asis is #2 and Favis #3 among all District 2 candidates for the City Council.
Another Team Pag-Asa teammate, Shannin Olivarez, was hanging at the #8 slot in District 1 with 42,188 votes as of this writing. Only the Top 8 vote gatherers per district will serve in the City Council from mid-2025 to mid-2028.

A 27-year-old man wanted for 16 counts of qualified theft in Makati was arrested by members of the ParaƱaque City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) on May 7.
The accused, Ryan Christian, listed by the police as the No. 8 most wanted person (station level) was arrested at around 2:40 p.m. at his residence in Sitio Sto. Nino, San Martin de Porres, ParaƱaque City.
Ryan Christian was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Rainald Cajurao Paggao, of Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 142, with a recommended bail of P456,000.

Recently in ParaƱaque City, local police officers apprehended two suspects who allegedly were involved in the killing of a used car dealer, according to a Malaya Business Insight news report. They have since been charged with murder and there were witnesses who positively identified them.

OPERATIVES of the Paranaque police have arrested two suspects in the killing of a second-hand car dealer in the city during a meet-up arranged via Facebook.
Southern Police District Acting Director Brig. General Joseph Arguelles said the two suspects were apprehended 24 hours after the killing in a pursuit operation by the Paranaque police in Bernardo Compound, Barangay Don Bosco.
Information provided by the SPD showed that two individuals posing as buyers shot and killed the 32-year-old victim when they met at around 11:50 p.m. last May 4 in front of the South Super Hi-way Medical Center in Barangay Marcelo Green Village. The victim was supposed to show them a car that they said they were interested in buying.
Arguelles said that after shooting the victim at close range, the suspects fled the scene, one riding off with the victimās gray Nissan Terra sports utility vehicle, while his companion used a motorcycle.
āInvestigators quickly gathered leads through digital backtracking and witness accounts,ā Arguelles said, adding police later recovered the abandoned Nissan Terra and the getaway motorcycle in Barangay Don Bosco.
In the same area where the victimās vehicle and the motorcycle were found, police operatives discovered three individuals engaged in a pot session and seized from them a caliber 45 pistol and illegal drugs.
āDuring custodial interrogation, the three revealed the identities of the gunmen as alias Jovillo and alias Ryan,ā Arguelles said, adding they were arrested at āexactly 11:50 in the evening of May 5 after the killing.ā
Police seized two unlicensed firearms and around 15 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P102,000.
āWitnesses also positively identified the two as the perpetrators of the shooting and robbery,ā the SPD chief said.

Two South Korean “fugitives,” who are wanted in their country for their alleged involvement in investment scams, have been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Paranaque City.
The BI identified them as Kim Young Sam, 58, and Weon Cheolyong, 59, who were arrested at the BF Homes Village in Paranaque City last April 22.
āBoth aliens will remain at the BI custodial facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City until their deportation,ā the bureau said. The arrest of Kim was ordered Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado, it said.
During the operation, the BI said āthe arresting agents discovered the presence of another Korean fugitive later identified as 59-year-old Weon Cheolyong.ā
It said that āKim will be deported immediately as he was already ordered expelled by the BI board of commissioners in December 2021 for being an undesirable alien.ā
āKim is also subject of an Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) red notice that was issued in 2018 after a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Seoul central district court where he was charged with fund raising for a business without government permit,ā the BI said.
āAuthorities alleged that as manager of a Seoul-based company, Kim and his accomplices engaged in fraudulent operations by soliciting investments for the development of an alleged cryptocurrency business,ā it also said.
It added that since 2015 āthe said company has defrauded over 3 billion worth of investments from 253 victims.ā

A Chinese national wanted in his country for drug trafficking charges has been arrested in ParaƱaque City, Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday.
In a news release, BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified the fugitive as Ouyang Shixing, 40, who was arrested inside his condominium unit by elements from the BIās Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).
“Ouyang is the subject of a red notice from the Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) which was issued last year after he was indicted for drug trafficking in violation of Chinaās criminal laws,ā Viado said.
He said the suspect is also the subject of an arrest warrant issued in November 2023 by the public security bureau in Fuzhou City, Jiangxi, China.
Based on the information received by the BI, Ouyang conspired with another suspect on May 12, 2023 in purchasing methamphetamine from a drug supplier, and later sold the substance to a buyer who paid them 70,000 yuan or nearly USD10,000.
Ouyang then took a train to Hong Kong on Aug. 2 of the same year and absconded with the money by fleeing to the Philippines.

A man was arrested after he held a two-year-old girl hostage for one hour at Bulungan Market in Barangay La Huerta, ParaƱaque City on Sunday afternoon, April 13.
Lt. Madison Perie of the ParaƱaque City police said the suspect was identified as alias āAndy,ā a native of Samar, Leyte.
Perie said the suspect, who was armed with a bladed weapon, was seen roaming around the area a few minutes before he took the girl who was playing near the street at Bulungan Market. Bystanders immediately called for police assistance.
Responding policeman, Pat. Samuel Melad, suffered a laceration on his right hand when he snatched the knife from the suspect. The girl was rescued unharmed.

Along the stretch of Aguirre Avenue inside BF Homes subdivision, Barangay BF Homes, ParaƱaque City is the 1950s-inspired diner Hackensack. To be clear, it is the BF Homes branch of the business whose other branch is located in Quezon City.
I had my first-ever visit there this past February for a lunch reunion and meeting with a dear friend of mine. We both had rice meals and drinks, and we had a nice chat while seating comfortably.

Through the window, customers can watch their food getting cooked.
I carefully examined Hackensack as it was my first time back then. I noticed they have sufficient parking spaces ā spacious enough to allow double-parking ā for motorists outside. Upon entering, the 1950s vibe was clearly present through the interior design and the carefully placed decorations. With the nice interiors, cool aircon system and sufficient walking space between the chairs and tables, Hackensackās BF Homes branch is nice and comfortable to be in.
Recently, I had a 2nd visit at Hackensack in BF Homes and this time it was dinner with my family.
Food
This is the Deluxe āSmashedā Cheeseburger and Fries Combo. The cheeseburger had two Angus beef patties.
During my 2nd visit, I had the Deluxe āSmashedā Cheeseburger (double-patty) and Fries Combo and a Chocolate Milkshake. The cheeseburger itself came with two Angus beef patties, two wide tomato slices, lettuce and cheese, and it tasted really good. Iām glad I had the cheeseburger as I was getting tired of the cheeseburgers from the more popular burger-and-fries fast food restaurants. Meanwhile, the fries were well cooked and satisfying to eat.
As mentioned above, I had the Chocolate Milkshake although I ordered at least 30 minutes after I finished my cheeseburger and fries combo meal. Hackensackās milkshake tasted mildly sweet (given the chocolate flavor) but more importantly, it also tasted freshly made.
The chocolate milkshake was tasty and satisfying.
Other food that my family enjoyed include the 1950s Onion-steamed Cheeseburger and Fries Combo, the Fried Onion Strings, Fries, the Philly Cheesesteak, Chicken Wings, and the Classic BLT (Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato). I can clearly say that my family enjoyed the food and what was served exceeded expectations.
The Fried Onion Strings was a delicious appetizer and also ideal when eating with a group of companions.

Hackensackās menu offers lots of food and drink options that customers can choose from such as the Chicken Salad Sandwich with Chips combo meal, Clubhouse Sandwich with Chips combo meal, Waffle Fries, New York Frank and Fries combo meal, Momās Baked Spaghetti, Monty Brewster and Fries combo meal, Homemade Apple Pie, Steak and Eggs rice meal, Rootbeer Float and more.
Arcade games plus notable comic book artworks
While Hackensack has a strong 1950s vibe with its food, interiors and atmosphere, the place with the two arcade cabinets (where players can stand in front of and play games) is something else. If you know your entertainment history, you should be aware already that arcade games in America (electronic games played on machines) did not exist during the 1950s.
That being said, the two arcade cabinets allow users to pick games from a wide selection of titles from the 1970s to the 1990s. The beauty about have these arcade cabinets is that you can play games absolutely free! No need to insert coins or tokens at all!
The two arcade cabinets inside Hackensack. Each machine contains lots of classic arcade games and the great thing is that customers can play those games for free. Simply select the game, press the button and start enjoying retro gaming fun.

During my two visits at Hackensack in BF Homes, I had retro gaming fun with Galaga, Elevator Action, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Pac-Man, the X-Men arcade game from Konami, and Donkey Kong to name some. Other arcade classic available for gamers to choose from include Street Fighter II, Battle City, 1942, Contra, Rambo III and RoboCop to name a few.
In addition to the existing retro gaming vibe the arcade cabinets provided, there were these very notable comic book covers and artworks displayed on the walls near them. Having read and collected superhero comic books in the 1990s, I recognized a lot of notable artworks there such as WetWorks by Whilce Portacio, X-Men by Jim Lee, Youngblood by Rob Liefeld, Spider-Man by Todd McFarlane, and Superman by Dan Jurgens.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP28.5 million during a buy-bust operation in ParaƱaque City on Wednesday, which resulted in the death of one suspect and the arrest of three others.
In a statement Thursday, the anti-narcotics body said the suspects, with aliases Lala, Allan, and Binny, were nabbed during the operation in Barangay San Antonio at about 5 p.m.
Another suspect, alias Sady, was killed while four PDEA agents were wounded in the ensuing gunfight.
Seized from the operation were 4.2 kg. of suspected shabu, a vehicle, mobile phones, buy-bust money, identification cards, drug paraphernalia, a firearm, ammunition, and several documents.
The arrested suspects will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Five people, including two seafood vendors and a construction worker, were arrested by members of the ParaƱaque City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) allegedly for selling illegal drugs on Sunday, April 6.
The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as alias āRamil,ā 54; alias āJudy,ā 28; alias āJayson,ā 43, a construction worker; and alias āGinalyn,ā 51, and alias āRaquelā51, both seafood vendors.
They were arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 9:50 p.m. on M. Rodriguez St., Barangay La Huerta, Paranaque City.
Police confiscated from the suspects 70 grams of shabu worth P476,320, one cellular phone with recorded drug transactions, and drug paraphernalia. The confiscated shabu was brought to the SPD Forensic Unit for analysis.
