Parañaque City Government Confirms Plans To Reward Residents Who Win Medals at the 2019 SEA Games

Hey everyone! Is your local community print media news publication still practicing propaganda or irresponsible journalism? Is your local community print media news publication secretly colluding with authorities or fake news makers? Is your local community print media news publication plagiarizing articles of bloggers and printed pretentious reports and articles to mislead you?

In this era of fake news and social media, publishing credibility is more crucial than ever. I personally oppose fake news, irresponsible journalism and propaganda (that is both self-serving and insulting to the public’s intelligence). I’ve seen others (who see themselves as keyboard warrior-type activists) mislead others via social media with lies and wrongful images (note: the #SEAGamesFail movement on Twitter made waves temporarily damaging not only the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee but also the nation as a whole).

On this website of mine, I strive to inform you, my readers and anyone concerned reading this, with precise and truthful information backed with evidence.

As for the title of this article, I can confirm to you all that the City Government of Parañaque confirmed to me directly that any resident of the city who wins a medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (2019 SEA Games) will be rewarded!

This past week, I reached out to City Administrator Fernando “Ding” Soriano and asked him if the administration of mayor Edwin Olivarez has any reward planned for Parañaque-based 2019 SEA Games medalists

“The mayor will give rewards,” Soriano responded.

Eva Nono, the former head of the Parañaque Public Information Office who remains with the Olivarez administration, gave the same response when I also inquired with her.

What kind of rewards await Parañaque-based athletes at the SEA Games if ever they win at least a bronze medal? Will it be a cash incentive? A citation by the City Government? A photo session with the mayor? No solid details have been revealed by Soriano and Nono respectively. We will just have to find out.

Back in the year 2017 at nearby Las Piñas City, I personally witnessed their mayor Imelda Aguilar and the City Councilors meet with then SEA Games men’s triathlon gold medalist Nikko Huelgas who was a confirmed resident of BF International. They were very delighted to find out about his being a local of theirs and eventually an agreement was made by the City Government to give him a cash incentive for his gold medal victory as well as for bringing honor to the city. The 2017 SEA Games gold was Huelgas’ 2nd gold.

Speaking of SEA Games triathlon, Huelgas is NOT participating in this year’s edition of the games and you can find out precisely why right here.

The 2019 SEA Games triathlon and duathlon events will be held at Subic Bay very soon and the great news is that tickets are NOT required for people who intend to watch the events live on-location.

For updates about the 2019 SEA Games triathlon and duathlon events, come back here and also I encourage you visit the FB page of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP).

PRESS RELEASE: New Clark City Hosts Successful Inaugural Triathlon

NEW CLARK CITY HOSTS SUCCESSFUL INAUGURAL TRIATHLON

More than a thousand athletes participated in the first-ever triathlon held in New Clark City from October 19-20, 2019. The event, organized by the GoClark Sports and Events and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), welcomed participants from all ages with the hosting of the Kids’ Triathlon, fun run, and the major triathlon race.

“We’re fortunate that a lot of spectators supported the event. Hopefully these sports facilities will eventually help promote wellness and healthy living for many Filipinos. Seeing the faces of the participants, they were so happy. It’s just the beginning of what’s more to come [here in New Clark City] in the next few years,” BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon said.

Dizon added that the race was another opportunity to test the sports facilities before the SEA Games which will run from November 30 to December 11. Official Test games will start next week and will be participated by international athletes.

Participants raced at the world-class Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center, and the new access road from New Clark City to the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway which will boost connectivity in Central Luzon.

There were also para-athletes who joined the race.

“This event proves that you don’t have to be an elite athlete to do this sport,” says GoClark Sports and Events Director Jumbo Tayag.

Triathlon silver medalist John “Rambo” Chicano who will compete in this year’s 30th South East Asian Games are a huge help for national athletes as they train for competitions.

“Napakalaking tulong ng ganitong facility para sa aming mga atleta kasi ‘di na namin kailangan mag-overseas na training camp so ‘yun pa lang, makakatipid na kami kasi pamasahe pa lang ‘tsaka accommodation din malaki. Sa ganitong paraan, nakakatipid na. Nakaka-engganyo pa tayo ng kabataan [to turn to sports] dito sa Clark,” Chicano said.

“[For] Filipino athletes, to do the SEA Games in front of the home crowd is one of our biggest opportunities to promote our sport, triathlon. To showcase that we are good in endurance sports and that it should be given so much funding,” Gold medalist triathlete Nikko Huelgas underscored. “Kasi ‘pag tinutulungan ‘yung Philippine sports mas naiinspire ‘yung buong bayan to engage in sports and nabibigyan ng opportunities ‘yung mga tao magkaroon ng magandang buhay. Sports gives you a better life.”

Both the Athletics Stadium and Aquatics Center meet the standards of international governing bodies, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA).

Delos Reyes and Ganzon Fastest in Alviera Bike King Duathlon

DELOS REYES AND GANZON FASTEST IN ALVIERA BIKE KING DUATHLON

Standout duathlete Joey Delos Reyes and former national duathlon champion Alexandra Ganzon proved their excellence among the large field of athletes by registering the fastest times within their respective genders in the Alviera Bike King Duathlon that was held recently at Alviera in Porac, Pampanga

Delos Reyes, who previously topped the 2016 and 2017 editions of the Bike King Duathlon series, finished the long distance 6 Kilometer run – 60 Km bike – and 4 Km run event in 2 hours, 13 minutes and 20 seconds capturing easily the Male 30-34 age-group title. A few minutes later, Male 25-29 contestants Jarwyn Banatao and Cipriane John Topia crossed the finish line neck-and-neck at 2:16:02 and 2:16:03.

Delos Reyes stated that during the race, he and a teammate were pacing with each other while cycling along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) until that teammate suffered a flat tire. From that point on, Delos Reyes went ahead on his own and maintained his lead until the end.

Among the ladies in the event supported by Alviera, NLEX-SCTEX Metro Pacific Tollways, Standard Insurance, official timing partner Garmin, Smart, and Hydration partners POCARI Sweat and Sip Purified Water, Alexandra Ganzon easily topped the Female 30-34 category with a time of 2:34:40. More than half an hour later, Female 40-44 champion followed at 3:08:48 while Female 35-39 champion Bubbles Paraiso came in next at 3:09:07.

For the sprint distance contests, the fastest males were 20-29 champion Reymart Songo with 1:14:45, 15-19 champion Irienold Reig, Jr. with 1:14:50 and 15-19 2d placer Richard Anson Navo with 1:15:27. The fastest sprint females were 15-19 champion Erica Bulatao with 1:30:54, 40-49 champion Bic Ferreria with 1:37:33 and 20-29 champion Aira Lourdes Lopez with 1:39:56. Other declared champions of the long distance and sprint distance can be found at the event’s page at the official website of organizer Bike King.

“We are happy that even though Alviera is located quite far away from Metro Manila, a lot of participants invited by Bike King arrived and went on to race and have a good time,” said Alviera Estate Manager Aris Pangilinan. Pangilinan and Jenny Chico of NLEX-SCTEX took part in the awarding ceremony.

Close to 500 participants joined the event hosted by Alviera, which is an 1,800-hectare sustainable estate by Ayala Land and Leonio Land that features a diverse mix of residential dwellings, commercial districts, industrial parks, institutions and leisure facilities located close to the Porac exit of the SCTEX. Since 2017, a gated subdivision with new homes have been built along with new shopping and dining outlets located near The Sandbox. An industrial park is being developed. Nikko Huelgas at 2019 USANA Live Global Convention

Nikko Huelgas, who is a 2-time gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in the multisport of triathlon, achieved something just several hours ago. It’s not another victory in a race but rather it was his speech delivered to a live audience during the 2019 USANA Live Global Convention held at the Salt Palace Center in Utah, the United States.

Here are the details…

Nikko told me that his speech lasted around three minutes. The presentation was lively as his image was magnified by the organizers complete with his name prominently displayed for everyone to see.

“I simply shared a 3-minute speech about my journey as a SEA Games champion to becoming the Chairman of the POC Athletes Commission,” he said. “So I shared that for a bit and shared the inevitable struggles of a pro athlete that is comparable to that of a USANA Associate.”

This is not the first time that the BF International, Las Piñas City resident delivered a speech. A few years ago, he spoke in front of many students at his old high school Elizabeth Seton School in BF Resort Village, Las Piñas City which inspired them.

Furthermore, Nikko attended the convention representing the Philippines and he carries a convention badge which identifies him as an USANA Athlete.

What is the convention about? According to the organizers, their event is described as the only place attendees can interact in real-time with world-class trainers, get a front-row seat to industry-changing announcements, interact with USANA management team members, shop for products in a massive store, immerse themselves at the interactive expo and be celebrated on the awards stage.
