Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar distributed financial assistance to the family of the entertainer who was stabbed 25 times by her ex-husband on Nov. 18.

The family of the victim identified as “Janilyn” visited Aguilar on Nov. 21 to seek assistance for the release of the victim’s body from the funeral home.

Aguilar was joined by Vice Mayor April Aguilar in handling the financial aid to the family.

Police investigation showed that Janilyn had a confrontation with her ex-husband identified as “Dennis” on Monday which led to the stabbing. He was later arrested by the police during a follow-up operation.

The Las Piñas Health and Wellness Caravan, organized by the City Health Office, delivered essential health services to residents of Daniel Fajardo at the Casimiro Townhomes Covered Court on Wednesday, November 6. Over 600 residents took advantage of the free services, showcasing the city’s commitment to delivering accessible healthcare.

The event provided a comprehensive range of medical services, including consultations, blood sugar and cholesterol tests, dental services, ECGs, chest X-rays, and lifestyle-related illness risk screening. Residents also availed of pneumonia vaccinations for senior citizens, free medicines at the pharmacy, and support for PhilHealth registration and the Green Card program. Mobile birth registration and a station offering massages were also available to further support community well-being.

City Vice Mayor April Aguilar was on hand to oversee the health caravan, emphasizing the local government’s dedication to health and wellness. Recently in the City of Las Piñas, business woman and candidate Alelee Aguilar-Andanar expressed her support for the P103.8 billion Las Piñas-Parañaque Coastal Bay Reclamation Project and reached out to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to support it as well so that socio-economic developments in the city will happen, according to a Manila Standard news report.

A daughter of Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar expressed support for the resumption of the P103.8-billion Las Piñas-Parañaque Coastal Bay Reclamation Project as it would generate billion of income to the city’s coffer.

Businesswoman Alelee Aguilar-Andanar appealed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga to sign the notice to proceed of the project as this would create thousands of local jobs, realize pro-poor projects, including socialized housing.

Aguilar-Andanar, who is running for councilor for next year’s election, is the third daughter of the late Las Pinas Mayor Vergel and incumbent Mayor Imelda. Alelle is the wife of former Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

Aguilar-Andanar said the reclamation project is a dream and aspiration of her late father who served as mayor of Las Piñas City from 1995 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2016.

She said (her) father’s vision is to keep pace with modern development. “If we don’t keep up or if we don’t devise a way (to generate income), it will become more difficult for the next generation,” said Aguilar-Andanar, quoting her father. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) just released the official list of Seal of Good and Local Governance (SGLG) awardees for 2024 and the City of Las Piñas made it, the City Government announced via social media. Las Piñas is one of the fourteen National Capital Region (NCR) cities that were declared awardees.

Las Piñas City was honored with the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2024 from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in recognition of the smooth and effective governance of the city under the leadership of Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar. This award is only given to local governments that pass the strict standards of DILG in various aspects of public service and governance.

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar thanked rescuers and volunteers for swiftly acting to evacuate 489 families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

Aguilar was grateful to the rescuers composed of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), the City Health Office (CHO), the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and volunteers for immediately evacuating residents who were staying in low-lying areas and bringing them to evacuation centers.

Vice Mayor April Aguilar files COC to run for Mayor of Las Piñas, Mayor Imelda Aguilar to run for Vice Mayor

Yesterday at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office in the City of Las Piñas, Vice Mayor April Aguilar filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) to run for the office of Mayor in the May 2025 local elections. Her mother – Mayor Imelda Aguilar – filed her COC to run for Vice Mayor. City Councilor Mark Santos formalized his candidacy for the city’s Congressional seat the day before.

The Aguilars and Santos lead the election group called Team Aguilar which also announced its slate of candidates for the City Council covering the two local districts. The City Council candidates names are as follows:

District One – Alelee Aguilar, Zardi Abellera, Brian Bayog, Robert Cristobal, Marlon Rosales and Mac Mac Santos.

District Two – Henry Medina, Luigi Casimero, Tito Martinez, Lester Aranda, Macky Saito and Euan Toralballa.

For the newcomers reading this, Mayor Imelda Aguilar is serving her third consecutive term while Vice Mayor April Aguilar is serving her second term. The maximum number of consecutive terms of public service is three terms.

A breast cancer survivor was emotional in narrating how she survived the disease with the help of green card program, a hospitalization support of the Las Piñas city government that subsidizes P30,000 of the total bill of a confined patient.

Clara Cruz, a former employee at the City Hall, said she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in 1919 and was operated on at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Cruz said she underwent chemotherapy and was very thankful to Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice-Mayor April Aguilar because she was able to use her green card twice with their approval.

Aguilar said the green card program is an important part of the city’s health subsidy program designed to deliver essential medical benefits to residents.
