Over 500 day care students vaccinated for polio in Las Piñas City

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, more than five hundred children enrolled in local day care centers were vaccinated for polio over a 2-day period under the City Health Office (CHO), according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

A total of 550 day care students received oral polio vaccination during the two-day drive conducted by members of the City Health Office (CHO) last April 23 and 24.

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the team of CHO, led by Dr. Julie Gonzalez, conducted the oral polio vaccine drive among the city’s young students.

Aguilar said 250 young students were given oral police vaccine at the TS Cruz covered court in Barangay Almanza Dos on April 23 at the Saint Joseph Subdivision in Barangay Pulanglupa Dos on April 24 where 300 day care students received the vaccine.

Las Piñas City Vice-Mayor April Aguilar was present during the two-day activity and distributed gifts to the day care student.

The vice-mayor said the vaccine drive is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to maintain a polio- free status following global guidelines on disease prevention.

She said parents and guardians expressed their gratitude for the city’s proactive steps in ensuring the health and safety of their children.

Las Piñas City held the KALINISAN sa Bagong Pilipinas Clean-Up Drive at the Arratelis Open Court, Brgy. CAA/BF International on Saturday, April 27th. The event was spearheaded by DILG Secretary Atty. Benhur Abalos Jr. and attended by city officials, including Vice Mayor April Aguilar.

The clean-up drive forms part of the broader KALINISAN or “Kalinga at Inisyatiba Para sa Malinis na Bayan” program, aimed at enhancing environmental health and safety through community efforts.

On Friday, April 19th, over 200 adolescents gathered at Robinsons Las Piñas for the first session of the “Healthy Young Ones” Activity, a health and wellness event focused on educating young individuals about reproductive and sexual health. The Las Piñas City government unveiled the city’s second diagnostic center as part of its comprehensive health program.

Las Piñas Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice-Mayor April Aguilar, together with City Health Office (CHO) head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez led the unveiling of the diagnostic center located in (Barangay) Daniel Fajardo.

Gonzales said the center is prepared to offer a range of different laboratory services and can accommodate about 100 people a day.

“Tayo po ay magbibigay ng mga serbisyong pang laboratory tulad (We will provide laboratory services such as) ng CBC (complete blood count test), urinalysis, examination para sa (for) cholesterol, uric acid, sugar, creatinine, at sa (and) liver function test,” Gonzalez said.

She added that electrocardiogram tests (ECG) and complimentary x-ray services will be provided to eligible Green Card holders.

The CHO head said by adding another diagnostic center to its growing list of healthcare service facilities, essential laboratory and diagnostic services are now readily available and more accessible to Las Piñas residents.
