When Donkey Kong Country (DKC) was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1994, a lot of gamers were blown away by the visuals and its enjoyable game design. The game also made the character Donkey Kong – who was originally a villain in the 1981 arcade game – very popular. Donkey Kong Country was developed by the European game studio Rare.
