Muntinlupa City’s recipients of 2nd booster shots more than double

In the progressive city of Muntinlupa, the number of patients who received 2nd booster shots for COVID-19 had more than doubled over the initial count, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. Specifically speaking, the 2nd booster shots recipients jumped from over 1,400 to more than 3,000.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

The number of people who have received their second booster shot in Muntinlupa City has increased to more than 3,400.

Data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that as of May 21, a total of 3,425 individuals got their second booster shot or fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

This is an increase of 2,002 individuals or 140.6 percent from 1,423 who were given the fourth dose as of May 21.

Of the 3,425, Barangay Putatan posted the highest number of recipients with 688 followed by Ayala Alabang with 606; Alabang, 377; Cupang, 348; Tunasan, 315; Poblacion, 216; Sucat, 177; Bayanan, 121; Buli, 25; and 552 unclassified.

Among the 12-to-17-year-old population in Muntinlupa, 40,157 have been fully vaccinated or 71.08 percent of the total population of 56,499.

The CHO also reported that 15,085 minors aged five to 11 are now fully vaccinated or 22.12 percent of the total population of 68,198.

To date, 498,153 individuals in Muntinlupa are fully vaccinated, or 112.57 percent of the target population of 442,517. The target population is 80 percent of the total population of 553,146.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier allowed the giving of the second booster shots using the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines four months after the first booster shot to immunocompromised individuals, frontline health workers (A1) aged 18 and above, and senior citizens (A2) aged 60 and above.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Muntinlupa City resident, what can you say about the rise of patients who received their 2nd booster shots? Do you believe that the COVID-19 vaccination and boosting have made a solid impact on making people more resistant from COVID-19? Do the news about the highly infectious Omicron sub-variant in our country compel you to get fully vaccinated or boosted? Do you think that the anti-vaccine fanatics movement in our country are deceiving people from getting immunized? Did you notice that anti-vaccine believers often claim they are “not anti-vaccine” and still go on to condemn vaccinations and attack the local authorities behind vaccination efforts?

COVID-19 Crisis: 2nd booster shot recipients in Muntinlupa City exceed 1,400

With the news that the more contagious Omicron subvariant is already present in the Philippines, the need to get vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19 is becoming more urgent. The Muntinlupa City government has administered second booster shots to more than 1,400 individuals.

The Department of Health (DOH) has allowed the administration of second booster shots using Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines to immunocompromised individuals, frontline health workers (A1) aged 18 and above, and senior citizens (A2) aged 60 and above.

Data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that as of May 21, a total of 1,423 individuals have received their second booster shot or fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Of the total, 458 are from Barangay Ayala Alabang, 177 from Putatan, 142 from Alabang, 113 from Tunasan, 66 from Poblacion, 58 from Cupang, 35 from Sucat, 18 from Bayanan, four from Buli, and 352 unclassified.

According to the DOH, the second booster shot is given four months after the first booster dose.

The second booster for our health workers and senior citizens will enhance protection given by the first booster and the primary series against all variants, including the recent Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1. said Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire.

To date, 134,116 individuals in Muntinlupa have received their first booster shot, equivalent to 30.31 percent of the target population of 443,517.

Of the target population, 497,157 are now fully vaccinated, or 112.35 percent of the total.

Anyone in Muntinlupa City who needs to get vaccinated or boosted should contact the MunCoVac via https://www.facebook.com/MunCoVac/

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Muntinlupa City resident, what is your reaction to this recent development? Are there people in your local community who were boosted already and are eager or interested to get their 2nd booster shot? Have you verified with MunCoVac if you are qualified for the 2nd booster shot? Also, did you notice that people who oppose vaccination often make big claims like “I am not anti-vaccine” and still went on to rant negatively about vaccines and boosters? Have you encountered a local movement of anti-vaccine fanatics lately both in person and online?

Muntinlupa City Government congratulates local resident who won a SEA Games silver medal

As the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian Games (AKA the 31st SEA Games, SEA Games 31 and Hanoi 2021) in Vietnam gets closer to concluding, another local resident of Muntinlupa scored another medal for the country earning him recognition by the City Government. According to a Manila Bulletin news report, the said athlete was Carlo Biado who won a silver medal in the men’s 9-ball pool singles event at the SEA Games. Biado was previously congratulated by the City Government for his victory in America in 2021.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

The Muntinlupa City government congratulated Filipino pool player Carlo Biado for winning a silver medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games being held in Vietnam.

Biado, a resident of Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa, bagged the silver medal in Men’s 9-Ball Pool Singles on May 18. The Philippines’ Johann Chua edged out Biado to win the gold medal in the event.

Just days ago, the City Government lauded SEA Games gold medalist Annie Ramirez for her victory in the sport of Ju-jitsu. COVID-19 Crisis: Almost 500,000 fully vaccinated in Muntinlupa City

In the progressive city of Muntinlupa, the City Government recently announced that more than 495,000 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, the Manila Bulletin reported. For the newcomers reading this, fully vaccinated means getting injected with two doses of most brands of COVID-19 vaccines.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

The Muntinlupa City government reported that the total number of fully vaccinated individuals in the city has reached more than 495,000, exceeding the target population.

Data from the City Health Office (CHO) showed that as of May 11, there are 495,414 people who have been fully vaccinated in Muntinlupa, equivalent to 112 percent of the target population of 442,517, or 80 percent of the total population of 553,146.

Of the 495,414 fully vaccinated individuals, 131,589 have received their first booster shot, or 30 percent of the target population.

In addition, 216 immunocompromised individuals have been given their second booster shot.

Among 12 to 17 years old, 39,724 have been fully vaccinated, or 70.31 percent of the total population of 56,499.

In addition, 13,869 five to 11 years old have been fully vaccinated, equivalent to 20.34 percent of the total population of 68,198 for the age group.

What was achieved in Muntinlupa City is indeed a positive development and even though there was a surge of new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines during the 1st quarter, the national economy actually expanded by 8.3% in the said time period. The real challenge for the Philippines as a whole is to have more people boosted for COVID-19.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Muntinlupa City resident, what is your reaction to this recent development? Are there still some members in your local community who have not been fully vaccinated or boosted?
