Recently in the City of Parañaque, elements of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided a condominium unit and arrested four Chinese nationals over illegal drugs which the authorities confiscated, according to a GMA Network news report.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the GMA News report. Some parts in boldface…
Four Chinese nationals were arrested after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided a condominium unit in Parañaque City allegedly being used to order and consume illegal drugs.
According to a report by John Consulta on “24 Oras Weekend,” the NBI Cybercrime Division arrested one woman and three men after opening the door of the target unit during an operation.
The agency searched the four rooms of the condominium and recovered high-grade marijuana or kush, from a side table and suspected shabu on the bathroom floor.
Drug paraphernalia and suspected drug residue were also found inside a cabinet in another room.
The NBI said its Cybercrime Division had monitored the suspects allegedly using cyberspace to order various types of illegal drugs, which were then delivered to the condominium disguised among food deliveries and other online orders.
“We monitored individuals through our Cybercrime Division who were using cyberspace to order drugs—various kinds of drugs,” NBI Director Melvin Matibag said.
The four suspects were subjected to drug testing, with two testing positive, according to the NBI. The two who tested positive were subsequently subjected to inquest proceedings for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Matibag also reminded the suspects that the use of cannabis and methamphetamine is illegal in the Philippines.
Let me end this post by asking you readers: What do you think about this recent development? If you are a resident of Parañaque, are you concerned that there could be more Chinese nationals who could be doing criminal activities within the city? Do you think Parañaque is absolutely not a drug-free city at all?
