Couple Arrested In Valenzuela City For Mass Producing And Selling Fake Government ID Cards

In the City of Valenzuela, the local police officers arrested a couple suspected of mass producing fake government ID cards and selling them online, according to a news report by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Valenzuela police apprehended a couple allegedly mass producing and selling fake government IDs online, Valenzuela Mayor Wes Gatchalian announced on Wednesday at a press conference.

PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) Acting Director PBGen. Bernard Yang said the couple was tagged as the main suppliers by another online seller the police previously arrested.

Apart from forging tools, and a printer, operatives seized over 300 pieces of the fake government-issued identification cards: PhilHealth, Social Security System (SSS), Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID), Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), and Driver’s licenses. The suspects also reportedly forged government documents such as PhilHealth Member Data Records.

“We have confiscated so many IDs. They can do almost anything. And these are being sold online on different social media platforms ranging from P40 to P1,000,” Yang stated in Filipino.

The cops identified the couple as “Chippie,” 44, and “Kaye,” 40, who, when asked by the media, admitted to printing the IDs saying they were only doing their jobs, but they failed to name their employer.

They will face charges of falsification of documents, a violation of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Gatchalian advised against the production of fake IDs as it affects local businesses, as well as persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

“Disadvantaged here are the establishments that are losing money… The real senior citizens and the real PWDs of our city are disenfranchised,” the mayor said in a mix of Filipino and English.

Additionally, PhilHealth NCR Vice President Bernadette Lico reminded that registering to Philhealth can be done online, and the IDs can be claimed for free, highlighting that there’s no need to pay for fake documents.

“There are many people online who are buying PhilHealth IDs ranging from P200 to P900… There is no need to do this anymore. Because all Filipinos are covered by PhilHealth, When you get an ID made, there is no fee. And with the e-gov app, you can register for a PhilHealth ID online.” Lico explained.

The City of Las Piñas, through the City Health Office, brought its Health and Wellness Caravan to the TS Cruz Covered Court in Barangay Almanza Dos on Thursday, February 18. More than 700 residents benefitted from the free health services provided during the event.

Residents availed themselves of a range of medical services, including consultations, FBS/RBS testing, cholesterol examinations, blood typing, chest X-rays, ECG, dental services, and nutrition counseling. Other essential services such as risk assessments for non-communicable diseases, pneumococcal vaccination for senior citizens, mobile birth registration, and assistance with Green Card and PhilHealth registration were also offered.

Vice Mayor April Aguilar led the event, accompanied by City Councilors Mark Anthony Santos and Henry Medina. Their presence underscored the city’s continuous commitment to ensuring accessible healthcare services for all residents.

Recently the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) confirmed that it has enough funds to cover the benefit package payments and other matters for its members in 2025, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Monday said it has sufficient funds to cover all the benefit package payments and planned expansion of package rates next year.

In a media forum in Pasig City, PhilHealth Senior Vice President Renato Limsiaco Jr. said all Filipinos can avail of their benefit packages both in hospital and primary care whether they pay monthly premiums or not.

This came after Congress and the Department of Budget and Management appropriated only PHP53.26 billion worth of premiums covering only 14 million out of the 25.28 million indirect contributors to PhilHealth.

The state insurer has requested a PHP150.92 billion budget to cover all its indirect contributors.

“This year from the sin tax fund, we received PHP40 million and the PCSO (Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office) and PAGCOR (Philippine Amateur Gaming Corporation), PHP21.73 million, we received PHP61 million all in all,” Limsiaco said.

“And for next year, another round of funding, so PHP21.1 million from PCSO for the improvement of benefits, and I think PHP47 million something is from the sin tax.”

He noted these funds will be added to the premium collection from direct contributors who are employees of the government and private companies, and those who are “self-paying”.

As of Oct. 31, the PhilHealth has a total fund of PHP485 billion pesos.

It has collected a total of PHP172.3 billion premium payments as of Nov. 22. It has disbursed Php148.4 billion for benefits payments, leaving a balance of PHP23.9 billion as of Nov. 22.

The Las Piñas Health and Wellness Caravan continued to provide accessible healthcare to residents at the Balagtas Covered Court in Pamplona Uno on Tuesday, October 29, serving over 600 residents, who availed of a range of health and wellness services aimed at promoting a healthier community.

The caravan offered essential medical services, including consultations, blood sugar and cholesterol testing, blood typing, dental treatments, ECGs, and chest X-rays. Residents also benefited from free medications dispensed at the pharmacy, pneumonia vaccinations for senior citizens, lifestyle-related illness risk screening, and support for PhilHealth registration. Additional services included Greencard enrollment, mobile birth registration, and a dedicated area providing relaxing massages.

City Vice Mayor April Aguilar attended the event, underscoring the local government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility. Recently in the City of Las Piñas, the City Government announced through its official Facebook page that there will be free medical services offered to senior citizens of two specific communities or barangays that will happen on September 6 and 12, 2023.

Senior citizens in the city are hereby informed that the Local Government under the leadership of the City Health Office in collaboration with Philhealth will offer free medical services this coming September.

You can get a free medical consultation that includes free vitamins, oral health check plus dental kits, and enrollment in Philhealth Konsulta.

The schedule for the enrollment of senior citizens in Philhealth Konsulta is at Bambusetum Covered Court, Barangay Talon Dos on September 6 and at Barangay Elias Aldana Covered Court on September 12.

You can also renew your Philhealth membership and get an ID at their designated kiosks at the aforementioned locations and dates.

If you happen to be within Las Piñas City and you need to have your driver’s license renewed, you should check out the satellite branch of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) which opened inside SM Southmall recently, as featured in the Manila Bulletin. The said satellite branch was designed to be a one-stop processing center for those who need renewed licenses and there is even a clinic (recognized by the LTO) located just beside the place. Aside from license renewals, people can also apply for student permits there.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) officially launched their satellite branch at SM Southmall’s Government Services Express (GSE) on March 24 to make drivers’ license renewals easier and more accessible to Southies.

Southies can now renew their licenses and apply for student permits in the mall, all while shopping and doing other errands. They just need to bring their medical certificates and existing licenses (for renewal).

Conveniently, Megacare, an LTO-approved clinic, is also located beside their satellite branch for a complete, one-stop shop experience.

LTO at SM Southmall is open from 8:00AM to 5:00PM excluding holidays and work suspensions declared by the government. The Driver’s License Renewal Center (DLRC) is located at the Government Services Express at the Lower Ground Level.

Everything is made more convenient for SM Southmall’s shoppers. Aside from LTO, Southies can make a day of their errands at the mall because GSE has other government service counters available like SSS, PHLPost, and GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosk.

Moreover, SM Business Centers offer PSA applications for birth, marriage, cenomar, and death certificates.

SM Bills Payment counters located in The SM Store and SM Supermarket accept payments for contributions and/or loans for SSS, Pag-IBIG, PhilHealth, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, and more.

By now, some of you may have learned about the recent news that Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi got vaccinated for COVID-19. That being said, that particular news should remind all residents of Muntinlupa about something very important…Pre-registration for local citizens to avail of the COVID-19 vaccine is currently ongoing!

All residents of Muntinlupa City who wish to avail of vaccines are encouraged to prepare their own information and then proceed to the official pre-registration form link at https://vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac/

The online pre-registration will take a bit of your time as it will require you to not only write down your personal information (including your PhilHealth number, employment information history of COVID-19 infection). You also have to be ready to input information about your personal allergy and medical history.

Afterwards, you will also have to read the key details of the private notice and waiver sections before finally submitting all the accumulated information.

Once these are done, the website will acknowledge completion and you will have to wait a while for the local authorities to send you an email which will have the link for you to click on to verify your registration. In my experience, it took a few days before the local authorities sent me an email.

When you complete the email verification, a QR code generated for you will be shown online (for your private viewing) which you can print in hard copy (a consent form with QR code). You can also do a screen capture of the QR code for your digital reference.

Knowing these details, you should head on to https://vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac/
