Las Piñas City reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and public safety with the successful hosting of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo Program held on Wednesday, October 16, at the Mayor Nene Aguilar DRRMO Building in Barangay Talon Dos. Organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Local Youth Development Office, the event brought together young leaders and key local officials to promote community safety and awareness.

Alelee Aguilar, showing her continued support for youth engagement and community programs, was present alongside City Social Welfare and Development Office head Lowefe Romulo, SK Federation Chair Rey Angelo Reyes, PMSg Ivan Francis Gaon, Chief Clerk of the Station Community Affairs Section (SCAS) from the Las Piñas City Police Station, and PCol Vicente Raquion from the Las Piñas Anti-Drug Abuse Office.

PCol Raquion and PMSg Gaon were the key speakers of the program, delivering talks that emphasized the role of the youth in keeping their communities drug-free and secure from terrorism. Their discussions focused on the dangers of drug addiction, the significance of awareness, and how the youth can actively contribute to local anti-drug and anti-terrorism initiatives.

The program served as a platform for discussions on how the youth can effectively combat the challenges posed by drugs and terrorism in their communities.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, two persons were apprehended by the local police as a result of a drugs buy-bust operation, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The seized illegal substances were worth over P300,000.

Two individuals suspected of drug-related offenses were apprehended during a buy-bust operation executed by the Parañaque Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit, resulting in the seizure of shabu valued at P306,000 on Sunday, October 27.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the suspects, known by the aliases “Marty,” aged 54, and “Emely,” aged 30, were taken into custody at approximately 4:00 p.m. in Barangay San Antonio, Parañaque City.

The SPD reported that the operation culminated in the confiscation of 45 grams of shabu, amounting to P306,000, along with a P500 bill utilized as buy-bust money, a coin purse, and a mobile phone.

Following their arrest, the suspects were held at the police custodial facility and are facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, three Chinese nationals got apprehended by the local police for different violations that include illegally possessing guns and violating the land transportation code, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Three Chinese nationals were arrested by members of the Parañaque City Police Tambo Substation for illegal possession of drugs, firearms and for violations of the land transportation and traffic code on Thursday, October 24.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said the suspects, identified as alias “Zhenhua,” 30, alias “Zhi,” 29, and alias “Miu,” 26, were arrested at around 7:58 a.m.

They were spotted by patrolling policemen acting suspiciously and changing the plate number of two vehicles.

The police said that when requested to present documents for the two vehicles, the suspects failed to show any and attempted to flee leading to a brief chase and to their eventual arrest.

The police recovered from Zhenhua 25 grams of shabu worth P197,000 and one Bersa caliber .380 pistol. The same amount of shabu was also recovered from alias Zhi. Alias Miu yielded P120,000 worth of marijuana and a .9mm pistol.

The police also recovered from the suspects six different license plates and tools including handcuffs and shovels.

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a man who stole motorcycle was arrested by the police who in turn responded to a victim who sought their assistance, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

A drug suspect was arrested by patrolling members of the Parañaque city police Substation 2 on Sunday, October 20.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the suspect identified as alias “Oliver,” 33 ws arrested at around 1:10 a.m. along Roxas Boulevard, Southbound, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

Investigation showed the victim, a female call center agent was seen by patrolling policemen who was frantically signaling for assistance.

The victim told police that she was threatened by the suspect with firearm and forcibly took her motorcycle.

The police said operatives from Substation 2 immediately responded and with the (victim’s) assistance was able to block and apprehended the fleeing suspect.

Recovered from the suspect were 20 grams of shabu worth P136,000, a replica .45 caliber pistol and the stolen motorcycle.

Around P680,000 worth of shabu was confiscated from two drug suspects during a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City on Thursday, October 10.

Members of the Parañaque City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) identified the suspects as “Hadji” and “Ben.”

Authorities conducted the operation following the complaints against the suspects for their illegal drug activities around their community.

The confiscated drug evidence, which was around 100 grams, was turned over to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit.

In case you missed the news, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) recently announced that several more medicines have been exempted from the value-added tax (VAT), according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article. The newly exempted medicines cover those related to cancer, high cholesterol, hypertension, and mental illness.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said 15 more medicines for cancer, high cholesterol, hypertension, and mental illness are now exempted from value-added tax (VAT).

In a statement on Wednesday, the BIR said Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. issued Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 93-2024 last Aug. 27, exempting from VAT certain medicines for cancer, high cholesterol, hypertension, and mental illness.

“The BIR is now a service-oriented agency, this includes the regular update of medicines that will fall under VAT-Exempt products. The BIR supports the government’s thrust in helping the public have access to more affordable healthcare and medicine,” Lumagui said.

The bureau said the circular was made in response to the updated list of VAT-Exempt Products from the Food and Drug Administration, under Republic Act (RA) 10963 and RA 11534.

Government anti-narcotics authorities seized P68 million worth of shabu following the arrest of a Bureau of Correction (BuCor) personnel and two others during a buy-bust operation in Parañaque City, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Monday, August 12.

The PDEA stated that Paul Patrick Toledo, 27, a BuCOR Correction Officer 1, truck driver Romeo Guerrero, 34, and security guard Reynold Teodoro, 27, were arrested on August 9 during an entrapment operation in Skate Park, Bulungan.

During the operation, the PDEA Special Enforcement Service (SES) and Regional Office-National Capital Region (RO-NCR), together with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group-Intelligence and Foreign Liaison Division (IFLD), and Parañaque City Police Station Sub-Station 3 seized 10 kilograms of shabu, two vehicles, a pistol loaded with live ammunition and mobile phones.

A dismissed police major was arrested by members of the Las Piñas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) after he yielded suspected shabu an a gun during a buy-bust operation last Tuesday, June 18.

Las Piñas police chief Col. Sandro Taffala, identified the suspect as ex-Major Reynante Ibon, 54, a resident of  Batangas City.

Tafalla said Ibon, who included in police gallery of high value individual (HVI), was nabbed at around 12:20 a.m. at the corner of Saging and Strawberry Streets in Barangay CAA, Las Piñas City.

He said confiscated from the suspect were 15 grams shabu placed in seven plastic sachets worth P102,000, one blue rubber pouch, a white Nissan X-rail with plate number ZRU718, and a cellular phone. The city police chief said SDEU operatives also confiscated from the suspect one .45-caliber pistol with four rounds of ammunition.

Tafalla said Ibon along with the confiscated shabu was brought to the Southern Police District (SPD) Forensic Unit for drug testing, while the confiscated gun was turned over to the SPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Police investigators are also conducting firearms verification to determine the registered owner of the gun.

Recently in province of Cebu, a sting operation conducted by law enforcers resulted in the arrest of an electric bike (e-bike) driver and the seizure of illegal substances worth over P2 million, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article. Regional anti-narcotics police arrested an electronic (e)-bike driver and seized a total of PHP2.04 million worth of suspected shabu in a sting operation Monday evening.

The police identified the suspect as alias Demot, a 33-year-old resident of Spolarium Street in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, whose work is driving an e-bike for a fee.

The suspect yielded the packs containing what is believed to be shabu, weighing 300 grams with an estimated street value of PHP2,040,000.

“The police is now investigating to determine the source of illegal drugs of the suspect,” a statement from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 7 (Central Visayas) said Tuesday.

According to the police, the suspect was placed under close monitoring a week before his arrest after they received a report that he could dispose of 500 grams of illegal drugs per week.
