Recently in the City of Las Piñas, the Las Piñas City Lying-In Clinic will be available for check-ups of high-risk expectant mothers two days per week, according to a news report by the Daily Tribune.

The Las Piñas City Lying-In Clinic designated Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m to 5 p.m. for check-ups of high-risk expectant mothers.

According to the Las Piñas Public Information Office, patients qualified for the schedule include those with a history of cesarean section, or other uterine surgery, gynecological issues such as abnormal bleeding, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), or myoma.

Mothers aged 35 to 39 in their first and fifth-time pregnancies, and those with existing conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or goiter are also qualified.

Patients are reminded to bring their voter’s registration record, greencard, referral from their respective health center, and previous results of ultrasound or laboratory.

Two Vietnamese Nationals Arrested in Parañaque For Operating Illegal Cosmetic Clinic

Recently in the City of Parañaque, agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested two Vietnamese nationals for the operation of an illegal cosmetic clinic, according to a news report by the Daily Tribune. This development is similar with what happened to an abortion clinic that was raided in Parañaque in 2023.

Personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation–Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) arrested two Vietnamese nationals in Parañaque City on 15 August for illegally practicing medicine and offering unauthorized cosmetic procedures.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago identified the suspects as Nguyen The Thang and Mai Quy Loc, who also used the alias “Dr. Do Thi Binh.” They operated a beauty clinic where they performed procedures such as chin fillers, liposuction, rhinoplasty, and facelifts without proper authorization. The NBI acted on a tip about their activities, which violated the Medical Act of 1959 (R.A. No. 2382) and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (R.A. No. 10175).

Agents posed as clients and confirmed the suspects were advertising their services online. Verification with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) revealed that “Dr. Do Thi Binh” had no Special Temporary Permit (STP) or Special Permit (SP) to practice medicine in the Philippines.

During the entrapment operation, the NBI seized medical equipment and supplies used in their illegal clinic. The suspects now face multiple charges, including: Illegal practice of medicine (under R.A. No. 2382 and R.A. No. 10175), Sale of unregistered and misbranded health products (under the FDA Act, R.A. No. 9711), Unauthorized dispensing of pharmaceutical products (under the Philippine Pharmacy Act, R.A. No. 10918)

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a certain Chinese national who was arrested in Parañque City for illegally practicing medicine was formally charged for violating Republic Act 2382 and estafa, according to a Philippine Star news report.

Criminal cases were filed against a Chinese national who was arrested in Parañaque for medical malpractice, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported on Friday.

Xu Yisheng, also known as Xu Xingzhe, underwent inquest proceedings before the office of the city prosecutor of Parañaque for violation of Republic Act 2382, or the Medical Act and estafa, NBI director Jaime Santiago said.

Santiago said they received information that Xu was maintaining a clinic in Parañaque and offering medical services to his compatriots for a fee.

The NBI, together with the Professional Regulation Commission, found out that the suspect is neither a licensed physician, nurse nor medical technologist and is not authorized to practice medicine in the country.

173 avail of Health Services in Tahanan Village

This past Sunday inside Tahanan Village, Barangay BF Homes in Parañaque City, several people converged at the area of the Tahanan Homeowners Association (THA) clubhouse by the poolside to avail of varied health services during the health check activity which was a special project of the Century Club of Tahanan, Inc. (CCTI) headed by its President Florencia Umali. According to Umali, the total number of patients present was at one hundred and seventy three (173).

Several patients paid P350 each for a diagnostic package that includes a free platelet count (for dengue test), ECG, FBS, BUN, SGPT, CBC, Uric Acid, Urinalysis and Total Cholesterol test. There were also other tests that were offered by health services provider Sto. Domingo Diagnostic & Medical Center Corp. during the activity such as Triglycerides for P150, Creatinine for P150, HBA 1C for P300, Chest X-Ray for P150 and TPAG for P200 to name some. Also present during the activity were personnel who prepared coffee, pandesal and a hot meal for the benefit of the patients. The health check test results are scheduled for release on October 22.

“We are very happy over the reception of this special project of our club and the fact that we were able to organize this after the COVID-19 pandemic,” CCTI President Flor Umali said. “The staff are very courteous and prompt with their work in serving the patients. We will have this health check activity again on February 11, 2024.”

Umali added that their local community health check project received valuable support from the Tahanan Village Board of Directors, Parañaque City Councilor Nina Sotto and Ryan Yllana, and from Barangay BF Homes Captain Paolo Marquez.

The CCTI President also announced that their next activity is the Christmas Bingo Bonanza set to happen on December 2, 2023, inside Tahanan Village.
