Freelance club DJ shot in Las Piñas City gas station, declared dead-on-arrival at hospital

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, a freelance club disc jockey (DJ) was shot by an armed man (who has a partner driving a motorcycle) at a gas station, according to a GMA Network news report. The victim was brought to a hospital but was declared dead-on-arrival. The shooting incident was captured on CCTV camera.

A club disc jockey was killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Pamplona Uno, Las Piñas City on Wednesday evening, according to a report of GMA Integrated News’ Jhomer Apresto on Unang Balita Thursday.

As seen in CCTV footage, the 34-year-old victim aboard his pickup vehicle was at a gasoline station when two men aboard a motorcycle stopped near him around 10 p.m. The backrider alighted the motorcycle, approached the pickup vehicle, and shot the victim.

The perpetrators on board their motorcycle fled while the victim on his pickup vehicle hit a wall at the gasoline station. The victim was brought to a hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

According to the police, investigators are looking into the possibility that the crime was drug-related as sachets of suspected illegal drugs were recovered from the hand and bag of the victim.

“Yun ang tinitignan natin maaaring galing sa bahay papunta rito hanggang siya ay sundan, abangan, at pagbabarilin,” Las Piñas Police chief Police Colonel Sandro Tafalla said.

The mother of the victim said that her son just returned home from Malaysia and that she has no idea who is behind the shooting.

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, roughly six hundred residents of Barangay Pamplona Uno got served when the Health and Wellness Caravan was held in their local community, the City Government announced via social media.

The City of Las Piñas, through the City Health Office, conducted another Health and Wellness Caravan on Thursday, February 6, at the Centraza Covered Court in Pamplona Uno. Around 600 residents availed themselves of free health services during the event.

The caravan offered a variety of services, including medical consultations, FBS/RBS screening, cholesterol examination, chest X-rays, ECG, dental services, and nutrition counseling. Other services included risk assessments for non-communicable diseases, pneumococcal vaccination for senior citizens, mobile birth registration, and assistance with Green Card and PhilHealth registration.

City Vice Mayor April Aguilar graced the event along with City Councilor Mark Anthony Santos, and City Health Office head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez. Alelee Aguilar and Martin Andanar were also present to express support for the initiative.Their presence emphasized the city’s commitment to prioritizing accessible healthcare for its residents.

Recently water concessionaire Maynilad announced that its P4.84 billion water reclamation facility (WRF) in Las Piñas City is progressing with its construction and should start operating in July 2026. The said facility is located in Barangay Almanza Uno.

West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is making progress on its Php4.84-billion Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) in Las Piñas City, a vital project aimed at expanding wastewater services and contributing to the rehabilitation of Manila Bay.

Now 33% complete, the Las Piñas WRF is slated to begin operations by July 2026. Once operational, it will treat up to 88 million liters of wastewater per day, serving approximately 360,000 residents across 20 barangays in Las Piñas City. Treated wastewater from this facility will be safely discharged into the Zapote River, which flows into Manila Bay, helping to reduce pollution and improve water quality.

Strategically located in Barangay Pamplona Uno, the Las Piñas WRF will utilize advanced Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic (A2O) technology to effectively remove pollutants. The facility is designed to meet the Water Quality Guidelines and General Effluent Standards of 2016 (DAO 2016-08), as mandated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“Our construction timeline was unfortunately delayed by pandemic restrictions in 2020, but we resumed work in 2023 with renewed focus. This project reinforces our commitment to providing reliable wastewater services for our customers and easing the pollution burden on Manila Bay,” said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S. Fernandez.

The Las Piñas WRF is part of Maynilad’s larger program to accelerate the rollout of sewerage and sanitation services in Metro Manila. The project is financed through a partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

The Las Piñas Health and Wellness Caravan continued to provide accessible healthcare to residents at the Balagtas Covered Court in Pamplona Uno on Tuesday, October 29, serving over 600 residents, who availed of a range of health and wellness services aimed at promoting a healthier community.

The caravan offered essential medical services, including consultations, blood sugar and cholesterol testing, blood typing, dental treatments, ECGs, and chest X-rays. Residents also benefited from free medications dispensed at the pharmacy, pneumonia vaccinations for senior citizens, lifestyle-related illness risk screening, and support for PhilHealth registration. Additional services included Greencard enrollment, mobile birth registration, and a dedicated area providing relaxing massages.

City Vice Mayor April Aguilar attended the event, underscoring the local government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility.
