COVID-19 Crisis: Las Piñas City Government claims herd immunity achieved (based on target population statistics) as total citywide inoculation count surpasses 860,000

Recently it was reported by the Manila Bulletin that City of Las Piñas achieved herd immunity based on statements made by Mayor Imelda Aguilar. This past Monday, the City Government’s official Facebook page published the latest vaccination statistics showing that the citywide inoculation count for COVID-19 has exceeded more than eight hundred sixty thousand as of October 23, 2021.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the very short Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…

Mayor Imelda Aguilar announced that barely 61 days before Christmas, her wish to achieve herd immunity for the city was granted with 99.9 percent Las Pineros given their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 90.6 percent who are fully vaccinated.

Aguilar said the two key factors in achieving herd immunity were the discipline shown by residents and their eagerness to get the jab against the disease.

She also thanked city residents for not being choosy with the brand of vaccines administered to them.

The mayor said the city achieved 99.9 percent for those given the first dose and 90.6 percent for those given the second dose from the total 447,086 target population.

“Hindi naman po tayo titigil na magbakuna kahit na naabot na natin ang halos 100 porsiyento na nabakunahan. Itutuloy-tuloy pa rin natin ito upang makabalik na tayo sa ating normal na pamumuhay,”(We are not going to stop with our vaccination even if we have almost achieved 100 percent. We are going to continue with the vaccination so we can all go back to our normal lives) Aguilar said.

She said the CIty Health Office (CHO) recorded that senior citizens under the A2 category represent the highest number of vaccinated individuals with 95 percent followed by the economic frontliners under the A4 category with 93.4 percent.

The above report ended stating that Mayor Aguilar appealed to the city residents to continue their local vaccination program locally referred to as “Ligtas na Las Pineros, Lahat Bakunado”. It should be noted that previously the Mayor mentioned that herd immunity was within reach. To be clear this is based on target population statistics.

As for the official city vaccination statistics, posted below is the image that was published by the City Government’s official Facebook page. Take note that the numbers below are slightly different from what Manila Bulletin’s report.

Meanwhile, the City Government is already handling the online registration process for COVID-19 vaccination for local minors (aged 12 to 17) which can be done at http://laspinascityonline.laspinascity.gov.ph/eCVRS/

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction to this development? Are you satisfied with the reported herd immunity achieved that was based on the target population count? Have you fully been vaccinated?

COVID-19 Crisis: Total inoculation count in Las Piñas City approaching 820,000

This past weekend, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that its overall inoculation count is approaching 820,000 overall based on their official statistics accurate as of October 8, 2021. Those numbers were released this past weekend on social media, shortly after the Manila Bulletin reported that the city was within reach of achieving herd immunity.

For transparency, posted below is the official image of statistics released by the City Government through social media.

As before, the numbers just don’t add up. 437,441 1st dose count plus 388,336 2nd dose count equals 825,777. That’s a difference of 7,050 more than the official grand total of 818,727.

Regardless, it is still highly commendable for Las Piñas that 86.9% of their target population of 70% got fully vaccinated already (two doses) while almost 98% of the target population got their first dose. Let’s be honest here…vaccinations exceeding 800,000 in less than one year is major achievement.

Meanwhile, the City Government recently launched the online registration process for COVID-19 vaccination for local minors (aged 12 to 17) which can be done at http://laspinascityonline.laspinascity.gov.ph/eCVRS/

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas City, what is your reaction about the latest vaccination statistics? Are you feeling confident about the city achieving herd immunity before the year ends?

COVID-19 Crisis: Over half a million people vaccinated in Las Piñas City

It is official! The total number of vaccinated people (both 1st dose and 2nd dose patients) in Las Piñas City has exceeded the 500,000 mark and among them are more than 200,000 who got fully vaccinated!

To be more specific, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that as of August 12, 2021, the number counted is 532,595 as total inoculation. In terms of breakdowns based on dosage, 322,147 patients were vaccinated with the first dose while 218,998 patients got vaccinated with their second dose. If you do the math, there is a discrepancy because 322,147 plus 218,998 equals 541,145 grand total.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the official visual reference released by the City Government on their official Facebook page on August 13, 2021…

The official statistics from the City Government.

I can only wonder if anyone in the City Government in-charge of counting the COVID-19 vaccinations will notice the discrepancy and update their numbers as soon as possible. For the newcomers reading, the City Government and its strategic partners are struggling with their growing Delta variant problem.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a resident of Las Piñas, are you still moving around the city using public transportation knowing that there are a lot of Delta variant cases in the city? Does the Delta variant news convince the unvaccinated members of your community to get registered and join the line for the free vaccines? Does the ongoing incentive program of Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar entice the unvaccinated members of your local community to get vaccinated?

COVID-19 Crisis: Almost 430,000 vaccinated in Las Piñas City

Yesterday the City Government of Las Piñas announced that almost 430,000 people got vaccinated successfully as of July 29, 2021. To be very specific, the official count is at 428,208 in grand total.

Of the 428,208 people who got vaccinated, 241,432 were those who got injected with their first dose. 186,776 got vaccinated with their second dose which makes them fully vaccinated patients.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the official city vaccination chart of statistics (including the breakdowns of the different categories of patients) which the City Government posted on their official Facebook page.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: If you are a Las Piñas City resident, are you happy with the collective efforts of the City Government and its partners on vaccinating the local constituents? Are there still people in your local community who are deliberately avoiding vaccination? Have you been fully vaccinated or are you about to get vaccinated with your first dose? Is the presence of Delta variant in your city a major concern for you personally?

Do you believe that the incentive program (raffle draws) of Las Piñas City Representative Camille Villar somehow convinced locals to get registered and join the line for the free vaccines?

COVID-19 Crisis: A new way of registering for free vaccines in Las Piñas City now available

To ensure that more of the constituents can get registered to avail of free COVID-19 vaccines, the City Government of Las Piñas added a third option of registering and has since been implemented. This was revealed in a recent news report by the Manila Bulletin.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in boldface…

Aside from the manual and online registration, Vice Mayor April Aguilar said Las Piñas is also offering on-site assisted registration in the city’s vaccination venues.

Aguilar said registration officers will be deployed in vaccination sites to assist visitors or passers-by who wish to be listed for vaccination.

In a recent post by the City Government on its official Facebook page, those who register on-site will be given a profiling form for them to disclose their details. This third way of registration should attract the attention of those who don’t have smartphones or computers, those who don’t have access to the Internet and those who could not register themselves the manual way.

In relation, the number of residents who got vaccinated has exceeded the 80,000 mark. In fact, most recently, the latest count was updated by the local health office as 86,137 as of June 2, 2021. The breakdowns are 57,597 who were vaccinated with the first dose, and 28,540 residents who received successfully their second dose. The grand total of Las Piñas should reach 100,000 soon.

Let this be a key reference for you.

Let me end this piece by asking you readers: Are you an unregistered Las Piñas resident who feels intimidated with the manual and online registration methods that were available? Does the addition of on-site assisted registration encourage you to get registered? If you were to choose among the three methods, which one appeals to you the most?

Does this latest development from the City Government encourage you to get registered and line up for the free COVID-19 vaccine?

To those who got vaccinated already in Las Piñas City, how long did it take you to get vaccinated during your time at the local vaccinate site? Were the personnel gentle and helpful towards you? Were walk-ins allowed?

To Las Piñas City residents who successfully got vaccinated with two doses, are you thankful to the City Government officials, personnel and their strategic partners for organizing the local vaccination program during this time of crisis?
