Recently in the City of Muntinlupa, the owner of a Korean store filed a complaint of voyeurism against a student who has been caught on video taking upskirt pictures of her, according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin. More recently, the Mayor of Muntinlupa expressed support for the victim.
To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin news report. Some parts in boldface…
A student in Muntinlupa is facing a complaint for voyeurism after being caught on video taking upskirt photos of a Korean store owner.
The victim, a businesswoman from Barangay Putatan, said the incident occurred on Sept. 21 inside her Korean store in Soldiers Hills.
The suspect posed as a customer and, while she was preparing his order, allegedly bumped her from behind. When she turned, she saw him intentionally taking photos of her intimate area.
She pretended not to notice and later reviewed CCTV footage in her office, confirming the act. She then asked a helper to seek assistance from the nearby barangay satellite office.
Barangay personnel responded, and the suspect allegedly admitted to committing the acts several times.
Although the parties were set to meet before the Lupon Tagapamayapa, the victim opted to file a direct complaint. She went to the Muntinlupa police’s Women and Children Protection Unit, which forwarded the case to the city prosecutor’s office.

Let me end this post by asking you readers: What is your reaction to this recent development? If you are a resident of Muntinlupa City, do you think young adults who possess gadgets should be taught lessons to refrain from committing acts of voyeurism? Did you witness any incidents of voyeurism locally over the past six months?
