Muntinlupa City Mayor reminds police to follow values of ACT (Accountability, Confidence and Trust)

During the recent presentation of newly designated police officers in the City of Muntinlupa, Mayor Ruffy Biazon reminded them to follow the values of ACT (Accountability, Confidence and Trust) as they perform their duties, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon reminded the police to follow the values of ACT or Accountability, Confidence, and Trust, in doing their duties as law enforcers.

Biazon made the reminder during the presentation of the newly designated police officers by Muntinlupa Police chief Col. Robert Domingo.

The new officers in the Muntinlupa Police are:

⬪Major Allan Rainier Cabral – chief of the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS)

⬪Capt. Reynaldo Par – chief of the Custodial and Detention Facility Unit (CDFU)

⬪Capt. Fernando Niefes – chief of the Station Tactical Operations Center (STOC) and concurrent assistant chief of the Patrol Operations Section (POS)

⬪Capt. Rolando Ty – commander of the Tunasan Police Substation (SS1)

⬪Capt. Alemar Cabanit – commander of the Putatan Police Substation (SS2)

⬪Capt. Roderick Tubon – commander of the Sucat Police Substation (SS4)

⬪Capt. Rizalyn Soledad – commander of the Ayala Alabang Police Substation (SS5)

⬪Capt. Marlo Abella – commander of the Poblacion Police Substation (SS6)

Biazon congratulated the newly designated police officers and told them about the expectations from the public.

“And, of course, our expectations from the newly designated. Remember the word ACT. The expectation is not only from you but from the whole Muntinlupa Police Station. The rank and file,” he said.

He added, “One is your accountability to your duty. We will expect that you will take action in fighting crime. Definitely, the public is expecting that. That is why you are in the police because you are our hope in addressing problems of drugs, criminality and, of course, the safety of our citizens. You have assumed that accountability.”

“Letter C, you have our confidence. As what Col. Domingo said earlier, we approved the designation by putting confidence in you. So don’t fail us on that,” he said.

Police officers rescue kidnapped foreigners and apprehend suspects in Las Piñas City

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, local police officers rescued four foreigners who were kidnapped and illegal detained by their compatriots over a car accident matter that involves money, according to a Manila Bulletin news report. The suspects were arrested as well but two others got away.

Members of the Las Piñas City police rescued four Indian nationals who were kidnapped and illegally detained by four of their compatriots for non-payment of their P200,000 car accident settlement on July 5.

Las Piñas City police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla reported to the Southern Police District (SPD) the arrest of alias Ramanathan, 22; alias Devesh, 22; alias Sanjay, 22; and alias Venkata, 21, all Indian nationals.

Tafalla said the four suspects were arrested at around 10:30 p.m. at a residential building located at Barangay Pamplona Tres, Las Piñas.

He said two other suspects, identified as alias Lmahen and alias Shivarishi, were able to escape during the rescue operation and are now being hunted by the police.

The city police chief said the rescued victims were identified as alis Ven, 21; alias Vam, 21; alias Sai, 22; and alias Kal, 19.

Tafalla said the victims were allegedly robbed and detained by the suspects for their failure to pay the P200,000 car accident settlement.

He said the victims rented a Nissan Tiera owned by Shivarishi in going to Nasugbu, Batangas last May 24 but they unfortunately had an accident.

The police said suspect, Shavarishi, reportedly demanded the victims to pay the amount of P700,000 after his car suffered damages but the victims reportedly paid only P500,000.

Tafalla said by failing to to pay the remaining P200,000, the victims were kidnapped, robbed, and illegally detained by the suspects on July 5.

He said a friend of the victims reported the incident to the police and a rescue operation was launched.

The city police chief said recovered during the operation were a white Hyundai Accent with license plate DAC 2660, one wooden broomstick, and one metal dustpan, which were reportedly used in the assaults.

Two Las Piñas City police officers recognized by DILG and PNP for swift response in neutralizing an armed robber

Two police officers were officially recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their swift response that resulted in the neutralization of an armed robber, according to a Philippine News Agency (PNA) news article. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) recognized two police officers for their swift response that led to the neutralization of an armed robber in Las Piñas City.

In a news release on Friday, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil awarded on Thursday the Medal of Valor, Medal of Merit, and the PNP Wounded Medal to Master Sergeants Avelino Lopez and Bong Panton for their gallantry in the face of grave danger.

The two police officers, both assigned to the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU) of the Las Piñas City Police Station, responded to a robbery incident inside the Olivarez Guevarra Subdivision in the city’s Barangay Manuyo Dos past noon on Thursday.

Investigation showed the suspect climbed the wall of a compound inside the subdivision. He then encountered the victim inside the latter’s house and physically assaulted him, resulting in an altercation.

The suspect managed to seize the victim’s 9-mm Parabellum pistol and fled the scene on foot.

The victim sought assistance from the TMRU personnel patrolling the area. The two police officers tracked the suspect, who attempted to escape by firing at them.

The unidentified suspect was killed in the ensuing gunfight by the responding officers.

During the encounter, Lopez and Panton sustained gunshot wounds in the leg. They were immediately transported to the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital for medical treatment and are in stable condition.

A dismissed police major was arrested by members of the Las Piñas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) after he yielded suspected shabu an a gun during a buy-bust operation last Tuesday, June 18.

Las Piñas police chief Col. Sandro Taffala, identified the suspect as ex-Major Reynante Ibon, 54, a resident of Batangas City.

Tafalla said Ibon, who included in police gallery of high value individual (HVI), was nabbed at around 12:20 a.m. at the corner of Saging and Strawberry Streets in Barangay CAA, Las Piñas City.

He said confiscated from the suspect were 15 grams shabu placed in seven plastic sachets worth P102,000, one blue rubber pouch, a white Nissan X-rail with plate number ZRU718, and a cellular phone. The city police chief said SDEU operatives also confiscated from the suspect one .45-caliber pistol with four rounds of ammunition.

Tafalla said Ibon along with the confiscated shabu was brought to the Southern Police District (SPD) Forensic Unit for drug testing, while the confiscated gun was turned over to the SPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Police investigators are also conducting firearms verification to determine the registered owner of the gun.

E-bike driver arrested in province, over P2 million worth of illegal substances seized

Regional anti-narcotics police arrested an electronic (e)-bike driver and seized a total of PHP2.04 million worth of suspected shabu in a sting operation Monday evening.

The police identified the suspect as alias Demot, a 33-year-old resident of Spolarium Street in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, whose work is driving an e-bike for a fee.

The suspect yielded the packs containing what is believed to be shabu, weighing 300 grams with an estimated street value of PHP2,040,000.

“The police is now investigating to determine the source of illegal drugs of the suspect,” a statement from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 7 (Central Visayas) said Tuesday.

According to the police, the suspect was placed under close monitoring a week before his arrest after they received a report that he could dispose of 500 grams of illegal drugs per week.

5 Chinese nationals and a local driver arrested for alleged involvement in Parañaque City shooting incident

Recently in the city of Parañaque, a shooting incident took place which resulted in the arrests of five Chinese nationals and a local driver for their alleged involvement, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Five Chinese nationals and a Filipino who were allegedly involved in a shooting incident of two Chinese men in Parañaque City were arrested early morning of June 15.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said that based on the report submitted by Parañaque City police chief, Col. Melvin Monante, the suspects were identified as alias Peng, 43; alias Cheng, alias Deng, alias Tu, 42; alias Liu, 34, and alias Ken, a Filipino driver/body guard and a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City.

The SPD said four other suspects remain at large and were identified as alias Yu, 32; and Bo, both Chinese nationals, alias Marlon and alias Tony, their Filipino drivers.

The police said the victims both named as alias Li, suffered gunshot wounds in the lower part of their bodies and were rushed to Ospital ng Parañaque for treatment.

Based on the investigation by the Parañaque City police, the incident happened at around 12:10 a.m. inside a residential building located along Roxas Boulevard, Parañaque City.

The police said residential building tenants immediately reported the incident to Parañaque police Tambo substation after hearing a burst of gunfire inside the victims’ unit.

It was learned that based on the CCTV footage gathered by the police, the four men entered the unit of the victims and shot them allegedly due to an unpaid loan.

Witnesses said that after the hearing the burst of gunfire, six men came out of the unit of the victims. They found the victims bloodied due to gunshot wounds.

Members of the Parañaque city police conducted a backtracking investigation which led to the arrest of the six suspects.

The police said alias Peng and Deng were arrested in a hotel room in Pasay City while Cheng was arrested in Clark, Pampanga. The police recovered from them a .22 magnum revolver and .9mm pistol with ammunitions.

The two other Chinese men, alias Cheng and alias Liu, who were residing in the same building, were also arrested after the conduct of backtracking.

The Filipino suspect, Ken, was arrested at his residence. Recovered from him were a .9mm pistol, extra magazine, cellular phone, and a motorcycle. He was previously arrested for carnapping and robbery

The police said the mastermind in the shooting incident, alias Bo, was previously arrested in December 2022 allegedly for his involvement in other criminal activities. The remaining suspects are now subjects of a manhunt operation.

It was learned that the suspects lend cash to casino players.

Almost 200 local and foreign workers rescued in Pampanga POGO raid

Authorities rescued 187 foreign and Filipino workers in a raid at a Philippine Overseas Gaming Operator (POGO) center in Pampanga province on Tuesday night.

In a report on Wednesday, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) said its members together with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Special Action Force and the local police carried out a search warrant operation against the Lucky South 99 compound along Friendship Highway in Angeles City.

The Malolos City Regional Trial Court Branch 14 issued the search warrant against the POGO over reports of human trafficking, torture and scam activities taking place within the establishment.

“Yung reports na nakuha sa atin, initial report for rescue was may mga tinotorture dito. Pinapalo ng mga baseball bat at pinagtatadiyakan dito. Meron tayong isang video na diumano babae na pinagsasayaw dito at pinagpapasahan ng mga bosses (The reports that we received, the initial report for rescue there are persons who are being tortured here. They are struck with a baseball bat and are being kicked. We also have a video allegedly showing a woman dancing and being abused by the bosses),” PAOCC spokesperson Winston John Casio said in a television interview.

Some 158 foreigners, including Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysians, Myanmar and Korean workers were rescued, together with 29 Filipinos.

Las Piñas City police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla reported the arrest of the suspects identified as alias Gielyn and alias Nico, both 16 years old.

Tafalla said the third suspect identified as alias Rusty is now the subject of a police manhunt.

The victim, alias Nikkos, 19, sought police assistance from Las Pinas Police Zapote Substation after he was held up by the three suspects while walking near a gasoline station along C5 Extension in Barangay Manuyo Dos, Las Piñas City at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6.

The victim claimed that he was confronted by the three suspects riding a motorcycle. One of them, who was armed with a pellet gun, forcibly took his personal belongings, cellular phone worth P21,800, and wallet containing P50 cash.

The police said the suspects were arrested during a follow-up operation conducted at around 5:30 a.m. at C5 Extnesion, Barangay Pulanglupa Uno, Las Piñas City.

Recovered from the arrested suspects were one pellet gun, one 13-inch kitchen knife, one black Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle, and one OPPO cellular phone.

A man who pretended to be a police officer and threatened a jail officer was arrested early Thursday morning in Las Piñas, May 30.

Las Piñas police chief Col. Sandro Tafalla reported to the Southern Police District (SPD) the arrest of alias Jerome, 45, at around 1:30 a.m. along P. Diego Cera Avenue, Barangay E. Aldana, Las Piñas

Report showed that the suspect blocked the path of a jail officer and identified himself as a police officer.

The victim reportedly demanded for the identification card of the suspect and when he failed to show any, tried to flee on board his motorcycle.

Tafalla said the victim was able to arrest the suspect and call for police assistance. Members of the Zapote police substation immediately responded.

He said members of the Zapote police substation found in the possession of the suspect one .45 caliber pistol and two magazines with 15 live (ammunition).

Suspect arrested in Las Piñas City for allegedly killing three people

Recently in the City of Las Piñas, police officers arrested a man whom they suspect to be responsible for the killing of three people (including the suspect’s live-in partner) whose bodies were discovered in a residence, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The suspect in killing of an employee and two students in Las Piñas were arrested during a follow-up operation conducted by the police on Saturday, May 18.

Las Piñas police Chief, Col. Sandro Tafalla, said the suspect identified as Vicente Karagy, 36, mechanic and was arrested at around 10:15 p.m. along Aurora Drive Extension, Vergon Ville, Pulanglupa Dos, Las Piñas.

Tafalla said the victims were identified as Mary Jean Avellna, 27, live-in partner of the suspect, Natalie Jane Cabintot, 19, and Oliver Bula, 11, both students.

The lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered after Princess Kanagy reported to the barangay, a foul odor originating from the room of the victims located at Charles St., Saint Joseph Subdivision, Barangay Pulanglupa Dos, Las Piñas.

Authorities immediately responded to the scene and discovered the bodies on the floor and the place in total disarray.

According to the family of the victims, they were last seen alive on May 15.

Police suspect jealousy as the motive of the killing as Mary Jean was allegedly having an affair according to Karagy.
