COVID-19 Crisis: Las Piñas City Government team formed for local implementation of safety seal certification (SSC)

Have you heard about the words safety seal certificate or safety seal certification circulating in the local news and social media lately? In connection to this ongoing COVID-19 Crisis we are all living with, businesses are being compelled to get certified that they have met the safety and health-related requirements. The safety seal certificates are supposed to ensure the public that the business establishments they intend to enter are safe for their health.

To put things in perspective, over thirty companies have applied for the safety seal certificate according to a Philippine News Agency report. In Imus, Cavite province, certain businesses their now have the certificates according to a Manila Times report.

Now here is the latest. The City Government of Las Piñas announced that it has formed a new team designed to do inspections in relation to the local implementation of the safety seal certification which local businesses in their jurisdiction should have qualified for.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the Manila Bulletin report. Some parts in bold…

Las Pinas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar issued an executive order creating an inspection team for the implementation of the safety seal certification.

The team created by Aguilar are composed of city administrator Reynaldo Balagulan, City Health Office head Dr. Ferdinand Eusebio, city director of Risk Reduction and Management Office Alejandro dela Merced, Public Information chief Paul San Miguel, chief legal officer Atty. Glenda Lucena, City Engineer Rosabella Bantog, Public Employment Services Office head Redante Garcia, Engineer Cesar Perillo of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and city police chief Col. Rodel Pasator.

Aguilar ordered the team to immediately start inspecting business establishments around the city on June 11 for the issuance of the safety seal certification.

She said the inspection was in line with the joint memorandum circular issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to ensure that all business establishment in the city will follow minimum public health standard as imposed by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease.

The mayor said the inspection and certification team was created to ensure that businesses around the city were following the minimum health standard to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and future surge.

Aguilar ordered the team to conduct inspections in malls, wet markets, retail stores, restaurants outside hotels or resorts, fastfood, eateries, coffee shops, car wash, laundry shops, banks, among others.

The above report ended stating that Mayor Aguilar wants the new team to regularly monitor the establishments using the checklist related to the safety seal certification. In a sense, this a new wave of regulation by the City Government on businesses and I should state that Las Piñas City has many businesses of all sizes all throughout its jurisdiction. Just drive along Alabang-Zapote Road coming from Alabang to SM Southmall and you will see so many commercial joints all the way between. And then there is the rest of Las Piñas where businesses are scattered at (examples: Marcos Alvarez Avenue, CAA Road, Tropical Avenue, BF Resort Drive, Gloria Diaz street).

To put things in perspective, the safety seal certification was emphasized in a ceremony in SM City Sucat in Parañaque City this past May which was attended by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.

Businesses aside, people still need to do their part in overcoming the pandemic by getting vaccinated. To get vaccinated, registering with the local authorities goes first. Already over 100,000 Las Piñas residents of have been vaccinated.

COVID-19 Crisis: Vaccination of patients under A4 category ongoing in Muntinlupa City

In the City of Muntinlupa, the vaccination of patients under the A4 category has officially started and also the grand total number of residents who got vaccinated (both single dose and two doses) is gradually approaching the 100,000-mark (since the start of COVID-19 vaccination a few months ago).

The Muntinlupa City government has started vaccinating the A4 priority group, or essential workers, Thursday.

The number of vaccines administered in the city has reached nearly 95,000 doses.

Included in A4 are workers who are residents of Muntinlupa, or non-residents who work in the city, and individuals who need to go out of their residence to work. These are private and public sector employees, self-employed, informal sector workers and workers in a private household.

Individuals belonging to the A4 category need to register with the Muntinlupa COVID-19 Vaccination Program at vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac and wait for a text message that will contain their scheduled vaccination date and time.

PMAJ Magno Belmi of Muntinlupa City Police receives his COVID-19 vaccine at SM Center Muntinlupa as the local government starts the rollout of vaccines for the A4 priority group on June 10. For A4 workers who are residents of Muntinlupa, they need to present a proof of residency like government-issued ID indicating Muntinlupa as the address, Muntinlupa Care Card, barangay certificate or village ID.

They also need to provide proof of eligibility as A4 such as company ID or certificate of employment for government and private employees; Professional Regulation Commission ID, certificate of business registration or income tax return for self-employed or freelancer; certificate of employment and proof of residency of employer for those who work in a private household; Tricycle Regulatory Unit (TRU) ID, jeepney association ID or transport network vehicle service (TNVS) ID for public transport drivers and workers; and barangay certificate for other informal sector workers.

For non-residents, they also need the same requirements as those for residents and these requirements should show that their company, business or workplace is located in Muntinlupa.

The Muntinlupa City government is adopting the Department of Health’s memorandum of age prioritization for A4 vaccination.

According to the DOH’s Memorandum 2021-0259, “In situations where there is limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, priority may be given to eligible Filipinos within 40-59 years old, then to those 18-39 years old.”

The city government said express lanes will be set up for those who belong to the A1 (health workers), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has reiterated his call for residents to register with Muntinlupa’s vaccination program and get vaccinated for their protection.

As of June 9, 69,197 individuals, or 17.9 percent of the target population of 385,725, have received their first dose of the vaccine while 25,608 got their second dose for a total of 94,805 doses administered in Muntinlupa.

The vaccination organizers in Muntinlupa are doing their best to serve the registered constituents get immunized. It should be noted that the City Government’s personnel and barangay personnel have been working to vaccinate other patients (examples: bedridden, disabled) in their homes.

What could hamper the vaccination operations though is the supply of vaccines coming from abroad. Just yesterday, additional vaccines arrived and more are expected to follow. How much of that will be allocated for Muntinlupa City, we will find out soon.

COVID-19 Crisis: Over 100,000 residents of Las Piñas City vaccinated

As the City Government of Las Piñas continued with expanding sites around the city while vaccinating patients under the categories of A1, A2, A3 and A4, it should be noted that over 100,000 city residents have officially been vaccinated (since vaccination operations first started months ago).

This is according to a news report published by the Manila Bulletin with details from Vice Mayor April Aguilar-Nery. For the precise details, posted below is an excerpt from the said report. Some parts in boldface…

The Las Pinas City Health Office (CHO) recorded a total of 101,059 residents who were given their first and second doses of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Vice-Mayor April Aguilar said for the first dose, a total of 70,770 individuals were given Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Pfzer and Sputnik vaccines while 30, 389 finished their second dose.

Aguilar said of the 101,059 individuals composed of health workers, senior citizens and adults with comorbidities, 1,281 belong to the A4 category.

The report also states that the newest vaccination site at The Village Square Alabang can serve around three hundred patients per day. The Vice Mayor reiterated that walk-ins are not allowed at the vaccination sites as it is part of the police. This was also meant to avoid overcrowding (remember the Pfizer launch in Parañaque City?).

COVID-19 Crisis: A4 patients vaccinated in Las Piñas City while newest vaccination site opens

The wave of vaccination of patients under the A4 category has reached Las Piñas City! According to a report by the Manila Bulletin, the City Government of Las Piñas received guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH) which paved the way to launch A4 vaccination locally. As with other cities in the National Capital Region (NCR), Las Piñas officially took part in the launch event that took place on June 7. Not only that, a new COVID-19 vaccination has been established locally.

The Las Pinas City government has started the inoculation of the A4 priority group or economic frontliners with the addition of a new vaccination site that will cater to around 300 people per day.

Vice-Mayor April Aguilar said the new vaccination site is located at The Village Square located along Concha Cruz Drive corner Alabang-Zapote Road, Las Pinas City. This is the 16th vaccination center in the city.

Aguilar said four more vaccination sites will open in the city.

She said the latest and biggest vaccination site that opened on June 2 was The Tent, Vista Global South in C5 Extension, that can cater to around 650 to 1,000 people a day.

The vice-mayor said the city government already received the guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH) on the vaccination of persons under the A4 category.

Aguilar said the city government has started sending text messages to residents under the A4 category on their schedule of vaccination.

Vaccination for COVID-19 has entered a new stage with the inoculation of the many registered patients who are under the category of A4 (to be done in two phases). To be clear, the Department of Health (DOH) describes A4 as the category pertaining to frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel.

Some 50 workers from various sectors received their first dose of vaccine against the dreaded Covid-19 as the government kicked off the mass vaccination of the economic front-liners under the A4 priority group at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City on Monday.

Christopher Molo, a 28-year-old Angkas rider, said getting vaccinated would lessen his fear to get infected with the disease and have serious illness conditions due to the virus.

He said he decided to get vaccinated to also protect his family against the risk of transmission.

“May takot at kaba dahil bukod sa panganib ng kalsada, may takot na rin sa virus kasi may posibilidad kami na mahawa rin na mas nakakatakot (There is fear and nervousness because apart from the danger of the road, there is also fear that we might get infected with the virus — that is more worrisome),” Molo said during the symbolic vaccination attended by officials from public and private sectors.

Molo said he always keeps the health protocols in mind during his work hours. But he is more feeling safe now that he is vaccinated.

TV host Iya Villania-Arellano said she decided to get vaccinated to become safe from the risks of getting infected.

“I wanna feel safe and I wanna contribute to taking that one step towards that achieving of herd immunity. That’s why we decide to get vaccinated. I wanna be one with everyone else in being able to give way the life that we had,” Iya said.

Iya and her husband Drew Arellano were both vaccinated with Sinovac vaccines, encouraging more Filipinos to avail themselves of the Covid-19 jabs.

“Don’t be choosy. Get what is available, because it is our way of being able to get back to our lives, and be able to enjoy what we used to be able to enjoy without the mask, without the face shield. Enjoy fresh air, enjoy breathing properly, and enjoy the outside world with our families, with our loved ones. So guys, come on, let’s get vaccinated,” she said.

Maurel Magyani, a service crew for eight years with Jollibee, said getting vaccinated will save her child from the danger brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I feel safe kasi nabakunahan na ako (because I already got vaccinated),” she said.

The Philippine government has decided to inoculate essential workers belonging to the A4 priority groups in areas where there is a high-risk exposure to Covid-19 infection.

The initial vaccination rollout for the A4 priority group is being carried out in the areas of Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao, which are collectively called the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus 8.

The first phase of the inoculation covers employees in private companies who are working outside their homes; employees in government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units (LGUs); and informal sector workers and those self-employed who work outside their homes, and those working in private households.

In his taped message for the event, President Rodrigo Duterte said the arrival of Covid-19 vaccines “in bulk” and the vaccination of essential workers boost the government’s efforts to beat the pandemic.

“We can now see the light at the end of the tunnel as the vaccine shipments have arrived, have started to arrive in bulk. This development is the result of our national government’s aggressive efforts to secure sufficient doses from the different manufacturers,” Duterte said.

Duterte also reminded the public to continue to adhere to the minimum public health standards.

That’s quite a load of information above. While A4 patients are being vaccinated, it does NOT mean that vaccination for patients of A1, A2 and A3 will stop. In fact, vaccination sites and their organizers are still waiting for category A1, A2 and A3 patients to come to them (note: register first) and those who missed out on their 2^nd dose will still be served. Going back to the Philippine News Agency report, Senator Bong Go stated: “We should exert all efforts to continuously prioritize A1, A2, and A3 priority groups by establishing special lanes or special vaccination centers for them.”

Economic significance of category A4

In another Philippines News Agency article, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez stated that vaccinating patients under category A4 is key to the nation’s economic recovery. A4 covers a wide number of employees under different sectors, most notably the private sectors who work outside their homes. Check out the excerpt below…

During the ceremonial vaccination for A4 group in Pasay City Monday, Lopez thanked the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) for expanding the definition of A4 priority group to include “almost all” workers.

“We are really giving support to the backbone of our economy, our workers. So this is really a shot in the arm to the economic front-liners, a shot in the arm to our economy. And this is really what we need as we are trying to continuously reopen,” Lopez said.

Following the vaccination of healthcare workers, senior citizens, and those with comorbidities, economic front-liners can now get the jab against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The expanded list in the fourth priority group has included self-employed individuals, house helpers, and business process outsourcing workers, among others, who work outside their homes.

Lopez added that as vaccines provide protection and lower the risk of getting severe Covid-19 cases and death, the inoculation for the A4 group will boost confidence to reopen the economy.

“And with that, we will confidently reopen towards that path, and that’s the path towards recovery. And now we’re seeing such recovery, we will see more and better signs of that recovery moving forward,” the DTI chief said.

Once a whole lot of A4 patients get vaccinated, it will be great for the businesses who have been struggling hard to keep operating. It will also be great not only for the fortunate employees (still working daily) but also for the unemployed (including those who are afraid of daily travel, fearing possible COVID-19 infection). Of course, those who will got vaccinated are those who successfully registered in their respective cities or local communities. There are still a lot of people out there who have not registered for one reason or another.

Yesterday the City Government of Las Piñas joined the NCR 8+ Virtual Commitment Ceremony and Symbolic Vaccination of A4 and it was Vice Mayor April Aguilar-Nery who participated officially online.

Also present at the scene were DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Secretary Carlito Galvez, Secretary Vince Dizon where they all gave messages. Currently, the City Government is continuously conducting the master listing of A4 so that when the National Government issues guidelines, we will immediately vaccinate in the said category.

For clarification, A4 is the category pertaining to frontline personnel in essential sectors, including uniformed personnel according to the Department of Health (DOH). Previously, COVID-19 vaccination programs served patients categorized A1 (workers in frontline health services), A2 (all senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

More on the City of Las Piñas, it should be noted that the City Government, the barangays and other strategic partners have been working hard to have their constituents vaccinated for COVID-19 and help the unvaccinated citizens to come forward by registering for the free vaccines.

In recent times, the City Government launched a third way of helping people get registered, that over 80,000 residents have gotten vaccinated (first and second doses altogether), and those who got vaccinated can qualify to win prizes in a special raffle draw under the incentive program of Las Piñas City Representative Camille Villar. I Love Israel: Israel sending experts to the Philippines to help with vaccination against COVID-19

So much has happened to Israel in recent times. They defended themselves from the many rockets launched by the terrorists in Gaza (supported by long-time terrorism sponsor Iran) using the Iron Dome defense system which prevented massive deaths and damage from happening.

On the diplomatic arena, it is highly unfortunate that the Philippines voted in favor of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s (UNHRC) investigation of the so-called human rights violations and abuses in Gaza which added to what I believe is the latest coordinated international attack against Israel. For the newcomers reading this, the terrorists, the anti-Semites, the Satanic Left (Marxists, socialists, Communists) and other kinds of people who hate Israel have long been using the United Nations as a global weapon against the Jewish state.

Even with these hard developments, I still believe that the State of Israel (whose founding in 1948 is a genuine miracle under the watch of God) is essential in this ravaged world as it is the light against darkness, and they have the undeniable right to defend themselves. With regards to the Israel-Philippines relationship, I still strong believe in it even though my nation committed a major blunder supporting the people who hate Israel at the UNHRC. In accordance to God’s Word (the Holy Bible), I will always love Israel and keep blessing it and its people.

While it has been working hard on defending itself on all fronts, Israel still stepped forward in assisting the Philippines by designating three experts (from their Ministry of Health) to enhance the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination operations.

Three experts from Israel’s Ministry of Health will help the Philippines to further enhance inoculation efforts against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr., also the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 chief implementer, said in a statement on Sunday that the experts are set to arrive on June 20, 2021 to discuss strategies on vaccine deployment, transition to the new normal, and addressing vaccine hesitancy.

The government, he said, is targeting to adopt Israel’s interventions on increasing public uptake, which is to provide incentives for vaccine recipients and restrictions for those who are yet to get coronavirus jabs.

Galvez said Israel’s method allows people who have received the jabs to increase their mobility and slowly return to normalcy, while those who have not been vaccinated will still need to follow quarantine protocols.

Israel’s vaccination program has been “highly successful,” according to Galvez.

Israel has officially dropped its outdoors face mask policy on April 18, after inoculating more than half of its population with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines.

It has also reopened schools and revived economic activities.

Israel’s success in having a majority of its people vaccinated for COVID-19 is undeniable and it is indeed a great model for other nations (still struggling with COVID-19) to follow no matter what their politics are. The hatred towards Israel, the false accusations of apartheid thrown against them and the wickedness of the socialists (as well as the Marxist racism-driven movement Black Lives Matter) with siding with the terrorists are nothing more than garbage for everyone witnessing global events through the distorted news and views channeled through Leftist news organizations.

Israel is leading the way in the fight against COVID-19, in helping people getting their respective lives back to normal, and helping nations with much bigger populations to save themselves from COVID-19. In fact, Israel has been providing much-needed assistance to India which has been suffering a lot from their own COVID-19 crisis.

With Israel’s dedication on assisting the Philippines confirmed already, this is great news that Filipinos should be very happy about and become more aware of. For months already, COVID-19 vaccination programs have been going on nationwide and there is still a long way to go before even half the population gets vaccinated fully (2 doses for each patient).

Not only are there not enough vaccines arriving here in the Philippines, there are also Filipinos that I observed are hesitant of getting vaccinated for reasons such as phobia towards needles (injections), the fear of side effects with vaccines, fear of waiting too long in line at vaccination sites due to overcrowding or disorganization (look at the disastrous Pfizer launch in Parañaque City), the inability of certain people to register (the DILG called for additional help for non-techie senior citizens while Las Piñas City recently launched a 3^rd option of assisted on-site registration), and more.

How the Israeli experts will help the Philippines solve the above-mentioned factors, we will find out soon enough. What is clear is that the Israel-Philippines relationship is still living and the recent setback at the UNHRC is temporary. Eventually by the end of this year, direct flights between the Philippines and the Jewish state will be established and that means golden opportunities for Filipinos (especially those who got fully vaccinated) to visit the Holy Land.

COVID-19 Crisis: A new way of registering for free vaccines in Las Piñas City now available

To ensure that more of the constituents can get registered to avail of free COVID-19 vaccines, the City Government of Las Piñas added a third option of registering and has since been implemented. This was revealed in a recent news report by the Manila Bulletin.

Aside from the manual and online registration, Vice Mayor April Aguilar said Las Piñas is also offering on-site assisted registration in the city’s vaccination venues.

Aguilar said registration officers will be deployed in vaccination sites to assist visitors or passers-by who wish to be listed for vaccination.

In a recent post by the City Government on its official Facebook page, those who register on-site will be given a profiling form for them to disclose their details. This third way of registration should attract the attention of those who don’t have smartphones or computers, those who don’t have access to the Internet and those who could not register themselves the manual way.

In relation, the number of residents who got vaccinated has exceeded the 80,000 mark. In fact, most recently, the latest count was updated by the local health office as 86,137 as of June 2, 2021. The breakdowns are 57,597 who were vaccinated with the first dose, and 28,540 residents who received successfully their second dose. The grand total of Las Piñas should reach 100,000 soon.

COVID-19 Crisis: More Sputnik V vaccines coming to the Philippines

Gradually, millions in additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines are coming into the Philippines and around ten million doses are to be administered this month. Along the way, Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V has been used to immunize thousands of Filipinos (check out the Sputnik V launch in Muntinlupa City and Parañaque City). As of May 30, 2021, a grand total of 80,000 doses of Sputnik V has arrived in the Philippines.

But there is more! According to an article published by Philippine News Agency (PNA), Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that further supplies of Sputnik V vaccine doses will keep coming to the Philippines.

The Philippines can expect more Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine doses in the coming months after Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed to increase the volume of deliveries.

According to a statement from the Office of the President (OP), Putin made this commitment in a telesummit with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday.

“President Putin said that Russia will increase the volume of deliveries of Sputnik V vaccines to the Philippines,” the OP statement read.

Duterte, for his part, thanked Putin for making Sputnik V available to the Philippines and reiterated the importance of the expeditious delivery of ordered vaccines.

On May 30, the Philippines received 50,000 more doses of the Sputnik V vaccines.

The country has so far received a total of 80,000 Sputnik V doses, including the latest shipment.

For the newcomers reading this, Sputnik V is an adenovirus viral vector vaccine for COVID-19 developed by Russia-based Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. When the first batch of the Russian vaccines arrived in early May, the City of Muntinlupa was one of the first cities to receive them. In connection to the latest batch that arrived from Russia, Sputnik V has finally made its way to the island province of Cebu. I should state that President Putin’s vow to deliver more of his nation’s vaccines into the Philippines is significant and the results will be seen in the months to come.

COVID-19 Crisis: Over 80,000 Las Piñas City residents vaccinated

According to a recent news report by the Manila Bulletin, over eighty thousand residents of Las Piñas City got vaccinated for COVID-19. To be more specific, the official count was at 82,526 residents who received the first and second doses of the free vaccines. This was announced by the City Government of Las Piñas to the Manila Bulletin just as a brand-new vaccination site opened within the city lately.

The Las Pinas City government’s biggest vaccination site located at The Tent, Vista Global South in C5 Extension, is now open to serve residents and can accommodate around 650 to 1,000 vaccinees a day.

Paul San Miguel, public Information chief, said the new vaccination site is an addition to the 14 existing centers that provide service to around 300 people a day.

San Miguel said the city government now has a total of 15 vaccination sites around the city and will add five more centers to speed-up the vaccination program of the city.

He also said the city government already vaccinated around 82,526 residents with the first and second doses against COVID-19.

The Las Pinas City government also emphasized the importance of vaccination in a Facebook post and reminded residents who have not been inoculated to register for it.

San Miguel said the city government is also giving free face masks to those who are given the vaccines in all vaccination centers.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar also urged city residents to observe the basic health protocols to stop the spread of the virus.

The above is really good news for city residents. The Tent along C5 Extension should help the many registered residents in terms of getting vaccinated in a more comfortable and more spacious place. The said new vaccination should also help somewhat in decongesting the traffic at the smaller vaccination sites around the city.
