The City Government of Muntinlupa announced that over one hundred eighty health workers received their respective booster shots during the first day of the rollout of booster shots that took place last Friday, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government rolled out the administration of booster shots in different vaccination sites on Nov. 19.

According to the City Health Office (CHO), 183 fully vaccinated healthcare workers belonging to the A1 priority group were given booster shots on the first day of the rollout.

Of the total, 178 received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as booster shots while five were given Sinovac Life Sciences’ CoronaVac vaccine.

By vaccination site, 131 healthcare workers were vaccinated at the city-run Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun), 23 at SM Center-Muntinlupa, 17 at Ayala Malls South Park and 12 at Sucat covered court.

In total, 4,748 individuals were vaccinated in Muntinlupa on Nov. 19 including 860 minors aged 12 to 17 years old who got their first dose and 143 minors who received their second dose, making them fully vaccinated.

In launching the booster shots, the Muntinlupa City government held a ceremonial event at SM Center-Muntinlupa attended by CHO officer-in-charge Dr. Juancho Bunyi, Department of Health (DOH) representative Dr. Anatoly De Los Santos, Coun. Allan Camilon and National Immunization Program Coordinator Dr. Rochelle Abat.

According to the DOH, boosters shots are “doses administered to a vaccinated population that has completed primary vaccination series, when, with time, vaccine effectiveness has fallen below a rate deemed sufficient in that population, as indicated in the EUA [Emergency Use Authorization] issued by the FDA [Food and Drug Administration].”

It added that for those who were fully vaccinated with Sinovac’s CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Sputnik V, the administration of booster shots is given at least six months after they received their second dose. For the single-dose Janssen vaccine, the booster shot is given at least three months after getting inoculated.

The City Government of Muntinlupa announced that over 5,600 minors (aged 12 to 17) have been vaccinated for COVID-19 as of November 8, 2021, according to a recent Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government said it has vaccinated more than 5,600 minors aged 12 to 17 years old.

As of Nov. 8, a total of 5,648 minors with and without comorbidities have received their first dose of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine.

The total is 10.2 percent of the estimated 55,391 population of 12 to 17 years old in Muntinlupa.

By percentage by barangay to date, Putatan has the highest vaccination rate at 17 percent (1,765 vaccinated) followed by Tunasan, 15 percent (921), Bayanan, 14 percent (558); Alabang, 8 percent (560); Sucat and Cupang, 7 percent each (379 and 390, respectively); Poblacion, 6 percent (777); Ayala Alabang, 4 percent (115); and Buli, 2 percent (33).

The city government said as of Nov. 8, a total of 22,665 minors aged 12 to 17 years old have registered with the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program, or 41 percent of the total population for the age group.

The vaccination sites for minors in Muntinlupa are the Ospital ng Muntinlupa for those with comorbidities and SM Center Muntinlupa, Ayala Malls South Park, New Cupang Health Center and Sucat covered court for “well children” or those without comorbidities.

Comorbidities eligible for the Pediatric A3 vaccination are medical complexity, genetic conditions, neurologic conditions, metabolic/endocrine diseases, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, HIV infection, tuberculosis, chronic respiratory diseases, renal disorders, hepatobiliary diseases and immunocompromised state due to disease or treatment.

The country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier approved Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines to be used in people 12 years old and above.

The collective push on making face shields non-mandatory in Metro Manila gained strength lately as City Council of Muntinlupa enacted an ordinance scrapping the mandatory use of the said things within the city’s jurisdiction, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City Council has enacted an ordinance scrapping the mandatory use of face shields in the city.

Majority Floor Leader Raul Corro told Manila Bulletin that the City Council enacted the ordinance on Nov. 8. The ordinance, he said, lifted the mandatory use of face shields except in hospitals and clinics.

The approval of the ordinance came ahead of the decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the use of face shields.

Interior Sec. Eduardo Año defended the issuance of executive orders (EOs) by Manila and Davao scrapping the use of face shields, saying mayors and local government units have the power to issue executive orders and ordinances under Republic Act 7160, the Local Government Code of 1991.

He cited Section 16 of the code, which states that “every local government unit shall exercise the powers expressly granted, those necessarily implied there from, as well as powers necessary, appropriate, or incidental for its efficient and effective governance, and those which are essential to the promotion of the general welfare.”

Año was reacting to the comment by presidential spokesman Harry Roque who said the EOs are “null and void” for violating an executive order issued by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Personally, I give the Muntinlupa City Council’s enactment my approval. Face shields should no longer be required not simply because they are inconvenient to use but because they are less relevant given the much-improved situations in Metro Manila related to the pandemic. The daily national count of new COVID-19 infections are much lower now, more people in Metro Manila have practiced caution and followed local health protocols, more people have gotten vaccinated and fully vaccinated (29.8 million as of November 9, 2021), etc.

Recently the Manila Bulletin reported that more than three hundred thousand people in Muntinlupa City have been fully vaccinated. Mathematically, that translates to 80% of the target population of the city.

More than 310,000 people in Muntinlupa are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to the Muntinlupa City Health Office, as of Nov. 2, 310,011 individuals have received their full dose of the vaccine consisting of 304,537 vaccinated by the city government and 5,474 in private companies in the city.

The total represents 80.37 percent of Muntinlupa’s target population of 385,725, or 70 percent of the estimated total population of 551,036. There are 75,714 people remaining to be vaccinated to achieve the target.

In addition, 344,518 individuals have received their first dose of the vaccine, or 93.3 percent of Muntinlupa’s target population. The total consists of 344,518 vaccinated by the city government and 15,394 in private companies in Muntinlupa.

Of the 310,011 individuals who are fully vaccinated, 12,189 belongs to the A1 priority group (health workers); 27,751 are A2 (senior citizens); 77,042 are A3 (persons with comorbidities); 125,808 are A4 (essential workers); 67,212 are A5 (indigent population), and nine to the rest of the adult population (ROAP).

Included in the 344,518 individuals who got the first dose are 723 minors aged 12 to 17 years old.

Following the launch of vaccinating local minors (aged 12-17) for COVID-19 in Muntinlupa City, the Manila Bulletin reported recently that almost two hundred minors with comorbidities got vaccinated locally based on the latest statistics.

The Muntinlupa City government has vaccinated 198 minors aged 12 to 17 years old with comorbidities.

According to Dr. Edwin Dimatatac, medical director of Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) which has been designated by the government as one of the pilot hospitals for the vaccination of minors with comorbidities, 72 minors were vaccinated on the first day last Oct. 25 followed by 126 on Oct. 26 for a total of 198.

The first 72 minors did not experience any reaction to the vaccine, Dimatatac said. Details on any reactions from the 126 minors were unavailable as of this writing.

As of Oct. 25, 14,896 12-to-17-year-olds have registered with the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination program, equivalent to 27 percent of the estimated total population of 55,391 for the age group in the city.

Minors, classified by the Department of Health (DOH) as Pediatric A3 group, are currently being vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, one of two vaccines approved by the country’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in people 12 years old and above. The other vaccine approved for minors is Moderna.

Under the DOH guidelines, the parent or legal guardian and the minor should sign the consent and assent forms before vaccination.

A medical certificate for the minor is also needed while the parents or guardians need to present a valid ID and proof of filiation such as birth certificate.

Muntinlupa residents may register for vaccination at vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

The City Government of Muntinlupa has officially started inoculating minors aged 12-17 years old with co-morbidities two days ago at the city-run Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) in Alabang.

Joining the pilot pediatric vaccination at OsMun include Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, DOH-NCR Asst. Regional Director and NTF Consultant Dr. Maria Paz Corrales, OsMun director Edwin Dimatatac, City Health Officer Dr. Juancho Bunyi, and Coun. Allan Camilon.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urges parents and guardians to register their children to the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) as protection from the adverse effect of COVID-19.

The City Government of Muntinlupa has started inoculating minors aged 12-17 years old with co-morbidities on Monday, October 25, at the city-run Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) in Alabang. A 17 year old female resident with allergic rhinitis and asthma was the first pediatric A3 vaccine recipient in Muntinlupa. Joining the pilot pediatric vaccination at OsMun include Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi (3rd from right), DOH-NCR Asst. A 17-year-old female resident with allergic rhinitis and asthma was the first pediatric A3 vaccine recipient in Muntinlupa.

As of Oct. 25, the City Government received vaccination registration from 14,896 minors including 555 who are with co-morbidities.

Co-morbidities eligible for the Pediatric A3 vaccination are as follows: Medical complexity, Genetic conditions, Neurologic conditions, Metabolic/endocrine diseases, Cardiovascular diseases, Obesity, HIV Infection, Tuberculosis, Chronic Respiratory Diseases, Renal Disorders, Hepatobiliary Diseases, and Immunocompromised state due to disease or treatment.

To date, Pfizer and Moderna are the only vaccines with emergency use authorization for 12 to 17 years old issued by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration to be used for the Pediatric A3 population.

City residents may register online through MunCoVac vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac to receive a schedule. After receiving their schedule, vaccine recipients with their parents or guardians should proceed to the OsMun vaccination site.

A medical certification given by the attending pediatrician/physician detailing the comorbidity of the vaccine recipient shall be secured prior to the vaccination schedule and shall be presented in the registration area during the vaccination schedule.

Parents or guardians should also present a valid ID and proof of filiation such as birth certificate.

OsMun was selected by the national government as one of the hospitals for the second phase of the vaccination of minors, classified as Pediatric A3 group, which started on Oct. 22.

Other hospitals to accommodate pediatric vaccination against COVID-19 under the second phase of vaccination of minors include Caloocan City Medical Center (North and South), Ospital ng Malabon, Navotas City Hospital, Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital, Marikina Sports Complex which is near Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center, Quezon City General Hospital, St. Luke’s Medical Center-Quezon City, Ospital ng Maynila, Ospital ng Makati, SM Megamall Mega Vaccination Site which is near Mandaluyong City Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Ospital ng Parañaque 1, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, and Pasay City General Hospital. While St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City in Taguig will also cater to vaccinees from the Municipality of Pateros.

Meanwhile, around 92 percent of Muntinlupa’s target population have already been vaccinated, translating to more than 640,000 vaccines administered.

MunCoVac reported that as of Oct. 22, the City Government has administered a total of 646,730 vaccines. 353,490 individuals have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine or 91.6% of the target, while 297,599 individuals or 77.2% of the target have been fully vaccinated. Of the total number of vaccinated individuals, at least 15,394 (first dose) and 5,474 (second dose) were inoculated in Muntinlupa private companies.

The target population to be vaccinated in Muntinlupa is 385,725 individuals or 70% of 551,036 Muntinlupa’s estimated population for 2020.

As of October 24, Muntinlupa City has 27,208 confirmed cases with 26,387 recoveries, 257 active cases, 564 reported deaths, 139 suspect cases, and 871 probable cases.

This past weekend MunCoVac, the team dedicated on COVID-19 vaccination under the City Government of Muntinlupa, announced through social media that there are almost three hundred thousand individuals who got fully vaccinated (note: 2 doses of most COVID-19 vaccines or one dose of the single-dose Janssen vaccine) based on their statistics accurate as of October 22, 2021. Since Metro Manila officially shifted into Alert Level 3 this past Saturday, there was indeed an increase of the number of people who visited the restaurants, the shopping malls and other places in the City of Muntinlupa which is the result of the easing of restrictions. What the Manila Bulletin reported, I myself confirm it is true. That being said, the local food and beverage businesses now have a better chance to recover as there are more people of Muntinlupa who got fully vaccinated and the relaxed rules on their operations provided a lot more freedom.

There was an increase in the number of people in restaurants, malls and parks in Muntinlupa on Oct. 16, the first day of the implementation of Alert Level 3 in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) downgraded the alert level in NCR from 4 to 3, which took effect on Oct. 16 and will last on Oct. 31.

Under Alert Level 3, more business establishments and activities are allowed to operate including cinemas.

According to Muntinlupa police chief, Col. Melecio Buslig, because of the downgraded alert level in Muntinlupa, there was an “abrupt increase” in individuals eating in dine-in restaurants and going to malls, parks, and other places of convergence.

He also said there was an increase in public and private vehicles on major thoroughfares, and an increase in the number of commuters in transport terminals.

Heavy traffic was observed from Muntinlupa to Binan, Laguna from Saturday afternoon to evening as more vehicles were on the road.

Shopping malls in Muntinlupa adjusted their operating hours due to the new alert level. SM Center Muntinlupa now operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Starmall Alabang announced that until Oct. 31, its mall hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 a.m. from Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Friday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Saturday to Sunday.

“Customers aged 18 to 65 years old only are allowed in the mall. Supermarket, drug stores, convenience stores, banks, courier services, money changer & remittance services, ATM centers, hardware & home essentials are open. Restaurants & food establishments are open for al fresco dining at 50% capacity and indoor dining at 30% capacity for fully vaccinated customers only. They are also open for pick-up, takeout and delivery,” it said.

The mall added that “pet shops, book stores, IT shops, toy stores, fashion and retail shops are open. Beauty salons, barber shops, and nail spas are open at 50% capacity if conducted outdoor and at 30% indoor capacity for fully vaccinated customers only. Recreational venues such as arcades, bowling alleys, cinemas, and similar venues are open at 30% capacity for fully vaccinated customers only.”

In relation to the above news report, I can confirm that during my visit at Molito here in Alabang on Saturday I saw more people eating outdoors at a few restaurants I passed by and there was a long line of customers at a certain Japanese restaurant nearby. During my visit at Festival Mall on Sunday (2nd day of Alert Level 3) in the late morning, I noticed the crowd of people was light (note: the mall opened at 11AM) but I noticed more customers flocking to the restaurants and coffee shops than before. For the newcomers reading this, to dine in or seat in a food/beverage joint, you must be fully vaccinated with evidence shown and you must use the StaySafe.ph app for online contact tracing. With a lot more people vaccinated fully (2 doses of vaccines of different brands or with the single dose of the Janssen vaccine) already, there is a huge market of customers for the food/beverage joints to cater to indoors. Alert Level 3 also paves the way for people to worship the Lord at church venues both indoors and outdoors.

Alert Level 3 is still far away from achieving pre-pandemic conditions but it sure is much better not only for businesses but also for the people who have gotten tired of the restrictions of Alert Level 4, the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) and the dreaded enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Alert Level 3 is a positive development and we should thank our Lord and glorify Him for the breakthrough as it is a crucial step towards normalcy and socio-economic recovery!

Recently MunCoVac, the team dedicated on COVID-19 vaccination under the City Government of Muntinlupa, announced that more than 288,000 individuals in the city have been fully vaccinated as they published the latest city vaccination statistics showing that over 625,000 vaccines were administered as of October 15, 2021. Muntinlupa City has administered a total of 625,205 vaccines as of October 15.

88.5% of the target population of Muntinlupeños have been vaccinated with at least one dose while 74.7% have been fully vaccinated.

As always, please make your vaccination schedule a priority. It takes a lot of people, planning, and logistics to make sure you get vaccinated.

With roughly 75% of the target population fully vaccinated, things are looking promising for social and economic recovery in Muntinlupa City. The next challenge, of course, is to fully vaccinate even more people in accordance to the overall population of the city. Already a lot of minors in Muntinlupa City got registered for COVID-19 vaccines. For those of you who missed out on the news, the whole of Metro Manila is now under Alert Level 3 of quarantine control and that means a lot of businesses – including cinemas – were allowed to reopen which is key to economic recovery. COVID-19 Crisis: Over 13,000 minors in Muntinlupa City registered for COVID-19 vaccination in first month

Since it official started the registration process for local minors (aged 12 to 17) for COVID-19 vaccination, the City Government of Muntinlupa announced that more than thirteen thousand minors were registered in the first month according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government has registered a little over 13,000 minors aged 12 to 17 in one month for its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program.

It launched the vaccination registration for 12 to 17-year-olds on Sept. 14 and as of Oct. 13, a total of 13,110 minors have signed up for the program, or 437 registrants per day.

The total is equivalent to 24 percent of the 55,391 total population of the 12-to-17 age group in Muntinlupa.

When the vaccination registration program for minors was launched in Muntinlupa, 3,477 12 to 17-year-olds registered on the first day.

By barangay, out of the 13,110 minor registrants, Putatan has the highest number with 2,250, or 22 percent of its 12-to-17 age group population of 10,164.

Brgy. Poblacion came second with 1,815 registrants followed by Tunasan, 1,686 (out of 6,256 12-17 population); Alabang, 1,404 (out of 7,244); Cupang, 1,167 (5,830); Sucat, 747 (5,744); Bayanan, 704 (out of 3,990); Ayala Alabang, 593 (out of 2,560); and Buli, 206 (out of 1,360). Non-residents who registered totalled 2,538.

In May, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the amendment to the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to allow its use for 12 years old and above. In September, the FDA approved the use of the Moderna vaccine for 12 years old and above.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the vaccination of 15 to 17 year-olds with comorbidities will start on Oct. 15 in eight hospitals. These are the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Pasig City Children’s Hospital, Fe Del Mundo Medical Center and Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
