You must have heard about the fearful reactions to recent news about members of the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) who expressed that a surge of new COVID-19 cases will happen soon due to potential entry of Omicron XE in the country. To those of you reading this, even if you don’t believe in the news, if you are fully vaccinated but have not yet been boosted, I encourage you to get your booster shot as soon as possible. In the City of Muntinlupa, the City Government will deploy more vaccination personnel around the city to increase the number of booster shots on the constituents, as reported by the Manila Bulletin. To be clear, the total number of boosted patients in the city is a little over 120,000.

The Muntinlupa City government will deploy vaccination teams to different workplaces and public transport terminals to increase the number of booster shot recipients.

As of April 7, a total of 122,149 individuals in Muntinlupa have received their booster shots, or 25 percent of the 486,579 who are fully vaccinated and 28 percent of 442,517, equivalent to 80 percent of Muntinlupa total population of 553,146.

The total fully vaccinated population is 110 percent of the 80 percent target.

Dr. Rajendra Yadav, acting World Health Organization (WHO) representative to the Philippines, said on April 6 that a surge in Covid-19 cases is quite likely in the country in the next two months due to unsafe gatherings and social mixing.

In April and May, Filipinos will observe Ramadan and Holy Week, and participate in election activities, the WHO noted.

Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) acting chief Dr. Juancho Bunyi said his office will deploy “Rolling Bakuna” (mobile vaccination) to increase booster shot rate and vaccination coverage among 12 to 17 years old.

CHO will continue advocacy and information dissemination in different schools through principals and school nurses, social media and media platforms.

The city government will also enhance vaccination at local jails and at the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urged residents to get their booster shots and for those who haven’t received their Covid-19 jab yet to get vaccinated as protection from the adverse effects of the virus.

As the national government announced that more than seven thousand children aged 5 to 11-years-old were injected with their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, more than four hundred children of the same age group got vaccinated in Muntinlupa City on the first day (February 7, 2022), according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government vaccinated a total of 419 kids aged five to 11 on the first day of the “Resbakuna Kids” campaign.

According to the city government, of the 419 kids, 240 were vaccinated at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa in Barangay Alabang consisting of 39 classified as Pediatric A3 or with comorbidities, and 201 without comorbidities.

At the Laguerta Health Center in Barangay Tunasan, 179 kids were vaccinated, all without comorbidities.

The city government is targeting to vaccinate 68,198 children aged 5 to 11 in Muntinlupa. As of Feb. 5, 10,755 kids have registered with the city’s vaccination program, or 16 percent of the target.

In the official press release issued by the City Government, it was stated that Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and other local officials led a ceremonial launching of the inoculation of 5-11 years old at Laguerta Health Center in Brgy. Tunasan. The mayor encouraged all parents in the city to register their children in the Muntinlupa COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) and assured them that vaccines approved by the Philippine Food and Drugs Administration are safe and effective. He also urged the public to get their booster shots as added protection against COVID-19.

More on vaccination, the dosage for kids aged 5 to 11-years-old is at 10 microgram/dose concentrate of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for each of them. The second dose shall be given three weeks after the first dose to complete the vaccination course.

As Muntinlupa City prepares for the vaccination rollout for children aged 5-11 years old, the City Government has recorded more than 9,600 children from the age group pre-registered in the city’s database.

At least 9,653 children aged 5-11 years old are pre-registered in Muntinlupa’s COVID-19 vaccination program as of January 30, according to the City Health Office (CHO). Of the total, 1,025 are from the pediatric A3 group, or those with co-morbidities, and 8,628 are from the rest of the pediatric population.

Muntinlupa CHO acting chief Dr. Juancho Bunyi said the city will have two (2) vaccination sites for the 5-11 years old: Laguerta Health Center in Brgy. Tunasan and Ospital ng Muntinlupa in Brgy. Alabang.

Bunyi noted that the target population for the age group is around 68,000. The local health officer also advised the public to wait for further advisory from the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) for vaccination schedules.

As part of the Phase 1 implementation, the national government will be launching the pilot vaccination rollout for children aged 5-11 years old on February 4 in the following sites: Philippine Heart Center, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, National Children’s Hospital, Manila Zoo, SM North EDSA (Skydome), and Fil Oil Gym in San Juan City.

The Phase 2 of the rollout will include expansion in the NCR and other regions.

Last December 23, the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved EUA for Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for ages 5 to 11 years old.

Children aged 5-11 years old shall receive a 10 microgram/dose concentrate of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and the second dose shall be given three weeks after the first dose to complete the vaccination course.

Muntinlupa residents may be pre-registered online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac. The public may choose the category “Pediatric A3 (5-11 yrs. old)” for those with co-morbidities and category “Pediatric/Rest of the Pediatric Population (5-11 yrs. old)” for well-child population or those without co-morbidities.

Meanwhile, for the 12-17 age group, the local government has inoculated at least 34,562 minors as of January 30. This translates to 62% of the age group’s target population.

Further, as of January 30, at least 474,309 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the city or 124% of the target. Of the total, 412,932 were fully vaccinated or 108% of the target. At least 66,353 received their booster shot.

To date, Muntinlupa City has 38,489 confirmed cases with 37,352 recoveries, 538 active cases, 599 reported deaths, 0 suspect case, and 252 probable cases.

This past weekend, the national government announced that almost sixty million Filipinos nationwide have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19, according to a report published by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). To be more precise, the official count was at 57 million.

The Philippines has administered 122,889,494 doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines nationwide as of Saturday, with 57,095,695 Filipinos now with complete shots and better protected against the virus.

Data from the National Covid-19 vaccination dashboard showed 59,716,484 individuals have received at least the first dose of the primary series while 6,077,315 got their booster or additional doses.

The government recently launched the “Resbakuna sa Botika” program in partnership with private pharmaceutical stores and clinics to encourage more fully vaccinated Filipinos to avail of booster shots.

Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., chief of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, said “self-management and social responsibility” would greatly contribute to the country’s response to the global health crisis.

“Basically, it is not sustainable that only the national government will take care of everything. I believe the private sector, the LGUs (local government units), and also the different parts of our society want to have responsibility. And that’s the way forward to our Covid-19 pandemic response,” Galvez said in an interview at a booster vaccination event in Makati City on Friday.

Galvez said there should a policy shift from having a government-centered approach to giving pre-access to those who are willing to assist in the national vaccination program.

On face value, having 57 million fully vaccinated Filipinos nationwide sounds like good news but in reality it remains to be seen if the Omicron variant could be resisted. 

More on the Omicron variant, it is crucial for the Philippines to acquire as many new doses of Sputnik vaccines from Gamaleya to really immunize and boost more Filipinos as soon as possible. Already there were studies conducted showing that Sputnik V and Sputnik Light resulted in strong resistance against the Omicron variant (for references, click here, here and here). Historically, Muntinlupa City was one of the first cities of the Philippines to receive a batch of Sputnik V vaccines.

Amid the sharp increase in new COVID-19 cases, members of the Muntinlupa City Police Station (MCPS) has apprehended more than 900 individuals this month for violating city ordinances and quarantine rules, while the City Health Office (CHO) strengthens the local vaccination efforts.

MCPS acting chief-of-police PCOL Angel Garcillano reported that 978 city residents were apprehended violating curfew hours, mandatory wearing of face mask and other city ordinances from January 1-24.

Of the total, 892 were apprehended for not wearing face masks while 54 violated the curfew.

Under City Ordinance No. 2020-109, every person in Muntinlupa is required to wear face masks at all times whenever outside of their residence, at the workplace, when entering government buildings and offices, and in public places.

Penalties for offenders include P300 for first offense, P500 for second offense, and P1,000 for third and subsequent offenses.

For violators who are minors, a stern warning will be given for the first offense, withdrawal of scholarship grant from the local government or P300 for non-grantee for second offense, and P500 for third and subsequent offenses. The penalty fee for minors will be charged against their parents or guardians.

Muntinlupa PNP has also installed COMELEC checkpoints and augmented its monitoring for the “No Vaccination Card/ID, No Ride” policy of the Department of Transportation.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi continues to urge city residents to strictly follow the minimum public health standards and get vaccinated amid the increasing COVID-19 cases in the city.

Muntinlupa CHO has recorded all time high figures last January 23 with 4,684 active cases and daily new confirmed cases at 467.

CHO acting chief Dr. Juancho Bunyi said the city has strengthened the PDITR + V strategy (Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment, Recovery plus Vaccination) to combat the further spread of the virus.

The City Health Office has also launched the “Rolling Bakuna” to bring the vaccination services closer to the communities. From January 3 – 21, Muntinlupa CHO has inoculated 1,687 individuals for their first and booster dose in different barangays.

The Rolling Bakuna is set to serve the following communities and organizations in the coming days: Morning Breeze Alabang (January 25, 240 slots – Booster), Elsie Gaches Alabang (January 26, 300 slots – Booster), Posadas Sucat (January 27, 100 slots – Booster), and PNP Headquarters (January 28, 500 slots – Booster).

As of January 21, at least 461,766 individuals in Muntinlupa have received their first dose, translating to 120.56% of the target population. While, 395,435 in the city are fully vaccinated which is 103.24% of the target.

Of the total vaccinated individuals, 17,521 were inoculated for first dose and 10,659 for second dose in coordination with the private companies.

City residents may register online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system via www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

The Muntinlupa City Police Station recently deployed additional personnel and roving teams in malls and hotels amid the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the city.

MCPS chief-of-police Col. Melecio Buslig ordered the deployment of additional policemen in local malls to help implement the “No Vax Card, No Entry” policy.

Earlier, Metro Manila mayors signed MMDA Resolution 22-01, series of 2022 imposing restrictions and regulation on the movement of unvaccinated individuals, except for essential trips.

Col. Buslig and members of Muntinlupa City Health Office have also visited local hotels which serve as Quarantine Facilities for returning Overseas Filipino Workers for monitoring and inspection.

Local officials held a dialogue and lateral coordination with the Managers and Security Officers of the hotels on their concerns in implementing quarantine policies and reiterated the deployment of additional personnel in their hotel to apprehend any violators.

Further, Muntinlupa CHO ramped up its COVID-19 testing activities and vaccination efforts. At the Museo ng Muntinlupa grounds, city residents are lining up to undergo rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen and RT-PCR testing.

Those who test positive for COVID-19 are endorsed to quarantine facilities if requirements for home quarantine are not met. Under City Ordinance 2020-106, all COVID-19 cases including asymptomatic, mild, probable, suspected cases, and close contacts are mandated to undergo quarantine at home or in the city’s isolation facilities.

In addition, the City Government activated its “Rolling Bakuna” for mobile vaccination at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Bgy. Tunasan to inoculate people.

As of January 5, at least 444,539 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the city or 116% of the target. Of the total, 369,044 were fully vaccinated or 96% of the target. While, at least 29,029 received their booster shot.

Meanwhile, the City Government launched the pre-registration of minors aged 5 to 11 years old for COVID-19 vaccination.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urged parents and guardians to register their children to the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program (MunCoVac) as protection from the adverse effect of COVID-19.

The COVID-19 situation is getting worse at the moment here in the Philippines and Metro Manila is literally the hot spot of new infections. As the City of Parañaque launched news rules targeting the unvaccinated people and the local businesses within their jurisdiction, the COVID-19 vaccine registration process for younger minors (aged 5 to 11) in the City of Muntinlupa was officially launched according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government launched the registration for COVID-19 vaccination of minors aged 5 to 11 years old.

Included in the registration are 5-to-11-year-olds with and without comorbidities. The registration was launched to make a master list of kids for vaccination while the city government is awaiting final guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH).

According to the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO), a total of 260 minors aged 5 to 11 have registered for vaccination to date.

Former Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo announced last Dec. 23 that the agency approved the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be used for 5 to 11-year-olds.

He said the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) and the Department of Health (DOH) were planning to roll out the vaccination of 5 to 11-year-olds as early as January but it would depend on the supply.

“It will depend if they have already ordered or if they have already secured [supply], already bought supplies for the vaccine for children and if they are ready to roll out. The plan is really as early as January,” he said.

According to Domingo, Pfizer applied for the EUA for 5 to 11 years old at the end of November, saying, “This vaccine is already being used in children in many countries such as the US, in Europe and in Canada and upon the review of the technical documents and the evaluation of the US FDA recommendations, our experts have found that data submitted is sufficient for the EUA approval.”

“It is reasonable to believe that the vaccine may be effective to prevent COVID-19 and the benefits of vaccination outweigh the known and potential risks.”

The dosage that will be administered to minors aged 5 to 11 years old will be lower than those given to adults and 12 to 17 years old.

Following the consensus of Metro Manila mayors to impose restrictions regulating the movement of unvaccinated individuals, the City Government of Muntinlupa will be requiring vaccination card or RT-PCR negative test from the public who will visit City Government offices.

Muntinlupa City Administrator Engr. Allan Cachuela issued a memorandum ordering security personnel in Muntinlupa City Hall and other local government offices to require visitors to present their vaccination card or a negative RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test.

“Please be advised that everyone, including elected officials and department heads, entering the City Government of Muntinlupa (CGM) facilities must be required to present their Vaccination ID with proof that they are fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd dose) or they can present an RT –PCR  test result done within two (2) weeks,” the local memorandum states.

The cost of RT-PCR test will be charged at the expense of the visiting public.

Meanwhile, employees found in violation of the order will be administratively sanctioned in accordance with the CSC rules and regulations. The Muntinlupa City Council is set to pass an ordinance for the tightening of mobility restrictions for unvaccinated individuals.

Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) has recorded a significant increase in active cases following the celebration of the holidays and New Year’s Eve. From five (5) active cases last December 20, 2021, it has spiked to 295 active cases last January 3, 2021.

Muntinlupa CHO chief Dr. Juancho Bunyi urged the public to take extra caution and strictly follow the minimum public health protocols amid the increase in COVID-19 cases in the city. Bunyi also appealed to city residents to get vaccinated as protection from the adverse effects of the virus.

City residents may register online through the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration system via www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

The local health officer earlier advised the strengthening of contact tracers and barangay health emergency response teams (BHERTs) and strict implementation of mandatory quarantine of COVID-19 positive individuals to isolation facilities.

Under City Ordinance 2020-106, all COVID-19 cases including asymptomatic, mild, probable, suspected cases, and close contacts are mandated to undergo quarantine at home or in the city’s isolation facilities if requirements for home quarantine are not met as certified by CHO.

As of January 3, Muntinlupa City has a total of 27,917 confirmed cases, 27,043 recoveries, 579 reported deaths, 1 suspect case, and 60 probable cases.

The annual Business Permits Renewal in Muntinlupa City officially launched today (January 3, 2022), with strict health measures in place to comply with IATF protocols. While, taxpayers may also opt to process their application online and via off-site channels.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi welcomes business locators in the city in the 2022 Muntinlupa Business Permit Renewal Hub located at Muntinlupa Sports Center, Brgy. Tunasan.

The details.

Strict health standards and distancing protocols are implemented in the Renewal Hub which include sterilization and disinfection of submitted documents using UV box, body temperature check, installation of alcohol sprays, and monitoring by compliance officers.

A One-Stop Shop arrangement in the Business Permit Renewal Hub has been installed in the venue for the convenience of taxpayers.

Business taxpayers can pay using Debit Cards in the Renewal Hub. Mobile ATMs and a Closed Circuit Television System are also installed across the venue. Free shuttle service is provided for clients going to and from the venue with pick-up points located at Muntinlupa City Hall Quadrangle.

Further, business owners may renew their business permit online via the Business E-payment System (BESt) which can be accessed thru Muntinlupa City official website (www.muntinlupacity.gov.ph).

Muntinlupa BEST is an online platform which allows locators to accomplish business permit applications and transactions through any internet-enabled device.

Taxpayers can accomplish transactions including application for New Business Permit, Renewal of Business Permit, Application Status Inquiry, Billing and Payment, and Payment History.

Another option for business locators is an off-site channel via the Business Permit Application Self-Service (BPASS) kiosks located inside the city’s major malls.

Business permits may also be delivered by the City Government’s official courier service partner, Keridelivery Inc, to the doorstep of business owners.

Mayor Fresnedi extends his thanks to the business tax payers in doing their part for the recovery of the city and the local economy.

Pinky Begona), Edcon Dacanay Apartment (Ms. Consolacion Dacanay), FDA Dejan Construction Services (Ms. Josepine Dejan), People’s Choice Apartment (Mr. Ernesto Obra), Chaulamoir Enterprises (Ms. Wanina Laudemer), and Mini-mini Store (Ms. Cherrie Flores).

The 2022 Business Permit Renewal will run from January 3 – 20, 2022 and BPLO Muntinlupa will serve clients from Mondays to Fridays. The list of requirements is posted in the city’s website www.muntinlupacity.gov.ph.

The City Government of Muntinlupa announced that it will intensify its efforts on dealing with COVID-19 as the number of local cases went up sharply in recent times, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

The Muntinlupa City government will intensify efforts as the number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city reached more than 100.

Data from the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) showed that as of Jan. 1, the active COVID-19 cases in the city rose to 131, an increase of 59 cases or by 82 percent compared to 72 active cases recorded on Dec. 31.

In the last seven days, Muntinlupa’s active cases rose from 20 to 131. The city government tallied 119 new COVID-19 cases from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 from 27,623 confirmed cases on Dec. 26 to 27,742 on Jan. 1.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 3,617 new COVID-19 cases in the whole country on Jan. 1, an increase of 656 new cases, or 22 percent, from 2,961 cases on Dec. 31.

According to Dr. Juancho Bunyi, head of the Muntinlupa CHO, the majority of new cases in the city are travelers who came from the provinces to attend family gatherings and people who returned to Muntinlupa.

Bgy. Ayala Alabang, which has jurisdiction over the posh Ayala Alabang Village, posted 16 new cases on Jan. 1, the highest among the nine barangays in Muntinlupa.

Muntinlupa City residents who remain unregistered and unvaccinated should make a move to get registered by learning the ways to do it. Those who are prepared (with personal information available) and willing to go through online registration for the free vaccines in Muntinlupa are encouraged to click https://vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac/
