In the progressive city of Muntinlupa, the prohibitions on the use of firecrackers and open pipe mufflers wer put into action as the local police seized thousands of pieces of firecrackers and penalized many open pipe mufflers ban violators, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

More firecrackers were seized while 60 persons were penalized for using open pipe mufflers in Muntinlupa on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Muntinlupa City government, as of 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, nearly 4,000 pieces of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices including 52 improvised “boga” were seized by the Muntinlupa police in different operations.
Muntinlupa police chief Col. Angel Garcillano said the confiscated firecrackers will be turned over to the Southern Police District (SPD) headquarters for consolidation and destruction.
Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 14-092 prohibits “the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Muntinlupa City.”
