COVID-19 Crisis: Total inoculation count in Las Piñas City approaching 800,000

This past weekend, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that its overall inoculation count is approaching the eight hundred thousand. To be precise, the official grand total was at 787,768 as of September 25, 2021. The total number of patients who got vaccinated with the 1^st dose was at 422,300 while the number of patients who got vaccinated with the 2^nd dose was at 374,260.

For transparency, posted below is the official image of statistics released by the City Government through social media.

As before, the numbers just don’t add up. 422,300 1^st dose count plus 374,260 2^nd dose count equals 796,560. That’s a difference of 8,792 more than the official grand total.

A few months ago, Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar was honored by the Regional Peace and Order Council-National Capital Region (RPOC-NCR) in recognition of her administration’s perseverance and ensuring order and safety in the city during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Very recently, Mayor Aguilar received another honor this time by Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) according to a news report by the Manila Bulletin.

Las Pinas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar was was recognized by the Department of Labor and Employment-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) for her leadership and humanitarian interventions to address the health and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Atty. Sarah Mirasol, Regional Director of the DOLE-NCR, recognized Aguilar’s contribution to the global response of leaving no-one behind and extending the LGU’s arms to DOLE-NCR personnel in its COVID-19 vaccination roll- out.

The Plaque of Recognition cited Aguilar’s actions as an indication of her selflessness and dedicated service to the public driven by compassion and solidarity.

Aguilar thanked DOLE-NCR for the recognition and vowed to continue to give better services to Las Pineros.

COVID-19 Crisis: 24/7 COVID-19 hotline numbers now serving Las Piñas City residents

Through the Manila Bulletin, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that it has officially launched a COVID-19 hotline system composed of five numbers (one landline number and four mobile numbers) to serve residents in the campaign against the spread of the coronavirus and its variants on a schedule of 24 hours per day and seven days per week.

The Las Pinas City government announced that 24/7 COVID-19 hotline numbers are now open to serve residents and help fight the spread of the coronavirus disease.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said residents who exhibit the symptoms of the virus can call the COVID-19 hotline number for a free phone consultation.

Aguilar said residents who want to be brought to isolation facilities or hospitals can also call the hotline numbers and they will be picked up by the ambulance.

The mayor said the city government’s hotline numbers are 89945782, 09776726211, 09496246824, 09682397922 and 09271400595.

Aguilar said the city government is also planning to add more hotline numbers to better serve city residents.

She said aside from the 24/7 COVID-19 hotline numbers, the city government is also offering free RT-PCR and antigen swab testing.

COVID-19 Crisis: Las Piñas City inoculation count now over 700,000

This past Sunday, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that its overall inoculation count has surpassed the 700,000 mark. Along the way, the number of patients who received their first vaccine dose surpassed 400,000 while the number of fully vaccinated patients in the city exceeded 300,000.

To be more specific, the official count as of September 11, 2021, was 709,368 in total inoculation. As for the breakdowns, 403,191 patients were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 314,888 patients got vaccinated with the second dose.

As before, the numbers of first dose and second dose do not add up to match the declared inoculation total of 709,368. Do the math, 403,191 first dose patients plus 314,888 second dose patients equal 718,079 in all. That’s a discrepancy of 8,711. The discrepancy is around 1.23% of the September 11 grand total.

To put things in perspective, posted below is the official visual reference released by the City Government on their Facebook page on September 5, 2021 and this includes the types of patients who got vaccinated. Also notable is the count of the single-dose Janssen vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.

COVID-19 Crisis: COVID-19 vaccine registration for minors ongoing in limited Metro Manila LGUs

The Manila Bulletin reported recently that a few of the local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila have officially launched the registration for the vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17-years-old.

Six Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) have started the registration of minors, with ages 12 to 17 years, for vaccination against COVID-19.

The six local government units in Metro Manila that started the vaccination registration for minors are Pateros, Makati, Muntinlupa, Manila, Caloocan, and Las Pinas City.

The Las Pinas City government will be using the EZ consult account for the registration of minors in the city.

The EZ consult account is also the same app used by city residents in registering for their vaccination.

The Las Pinas city government said the registration is part of the preparations once the national government approves the vaccination of minors using Moderna and Pfizer vaccines as approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Pateros was the first local government unit that launched the registration of COVID-19 vaccination for minors on September 8.

Residents who are 12 to 17 years old can register using a QR code that can be found in Facebook page of the Pateros municipal government Facebook.

In the capital city of Manila, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said that throughwww.manilacovid-19vaccine.ph, parents can either register their children under a single account for the family or register them separately.

In Makati, the city government announced on Friday (September 10) that minors, 12 to 17 years old, may now register for vaccination against COVID-19.

In a Facebook post of the city government, it said that residents of Makati, 12 to 17 years old, can sign up at http://www.covid19vaccine.safemakati.com and a master list will be created for the vaccination of minors.

Makati COVID-19 Vaccine In Caloocan, the city government also started the profiling of minors aged 12 to 17.

Mayor Oca Malapitan said it is important that the vaccination program for minors is prepared as early as possible since they belong to the age group that needs the consent of parents or guardians.

Residents of Muntinlupa City who remain unregistered and unvaccinated can make a move to get registered by learning the ways to do it. Recently, the City Government of Las Piñas announced that over six hundred and thirty thousand people were vaccinated for COVID-19.

To be more specific, the official count as of September 3, 2021, was 636,312 in total inoculation. As for the breakdowns, 397,420 patients were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine while 247,567 patients got vaccinated with the second dose.

As before, the numbers of first dose and second dose do not add up to match the declared inoculation total of 636,312. Do the math, 397,420 first dose patients plus 247,567 second dose patients equal 644,987 in all.

Las Piñas City mayor expresses immense gratitude to those who sent messages of condolence

It has been a few weeks since former Las Piñas City mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar passed away at age 74. Naturally, people in the city got emotional over his death and at the same time, memories of his legacy of leadership and service came back. Not only did Las Piñas City win awards or got recognized for excellence during his time as mayor from 1995 to 2004 and 2007 to 2016, the Friendship Route was established which changed the dynamics of local traffic flow. The late Aguilar was also one of the first local chief executives in the nation to introduce free basic and secondary education.

This past weekend, incumbent Las Piñas City mayor Imelda Aguilar issued a message of gratitude to all those who expressed their love and condolences for her late husband.

COVID-19 Crisis: Las Piñas City prepares for Delta variant

It is official. The Delta variant (B.1.617.2) is really here in the Philippines and this could lead to more new infections of COVID-19. What is the Delta variant? It is described by WebMD.com as follows:

The Delta variant, also known as B.1.617.2, can spread more easily, according to the CDC. The strain has mutations on the spike protein that make it easier for it to infect human cells. That means people may be more contagious if they contract the virus and more easily spread it to others. It is now the dominant strain in the U.S.

In fact, researchers have said that the Delta variant is about 50% more contagious than the Alpha variant, which was first identified in the U.K., according to The Washington Post. Alpha, also known as B.1.1.7, was already 50% more contagious than the original coronavirus first identified in China in 2019.

Public health experts estimate that the average person who gets infected with Delta spreads it to three or four other people, as compared with one or two other people through the original coronavirus strain, according to Yale Medicine. The Delta variant may also be able to escape protection from vaccines and some COVID-19 treatments, though studies are still ongoing

Las Piñas City Mayor Imelda Aguilar has ordered the strict implementation of prevent-detect-isolate-treat and reintegrate (PDITR) to ensure that the new Delta variant will not spread in the city.

According to Paul San Miguel, Public Information chief, Aguilar ordered that residents who show symptoms of COVID-19 must be isolated in one facilities while asymptomatic patients should be placed in other isolation facilities.

San Miguel said the Aguilar’s order came after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed that the more transmissible Delta variant has entered the country.

He said the mayor wants to prevent the spread of the virus in the city and continues to appeal to residents to observe the basic health protocols like the wearing of face mask and face shield and observing physical distancing.

With the details above, there is a need to be extra careful when moving around in public. The people who remain unvaccinated will need to get vaccinated as soon as possible (note: register first) for their health and protection for COVID-19 and the Delta variant.

COVID-19 Crisis: Over 300,000 vaccinated as Las Piñas City achieves 95.74% vaccination utilization rate

Recently the City Government of Las Piñas announced two notable achievements in the fight against COVID-19 – over 300,000 people in the city got vaccinated while the city is the 2^nd highest among local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila with regards to vaccination utilization rates recorded.

Based on statistics counted as of July 15, 2021, a grand total of 313,045 people in the city got vaccinated. Breakdowns show that 212,510 patients were vaccinated on their first dose and the biggest group of patients who received the first dose was A4 category at 85,841. Patients who successfully got fully vaccinated with two doses totaled 100,535 and the biggest group of patients fully vaccinated was the A3 category with 44,614. Check out the official stats below…

With regards to the Metro Manila LGUs vaccination utilization rate statistics counted by the Department of Health (DOH) vaccination operations center accurate as of July 15, 2021, Las Piñas City ranked 2^nd place overall with a utilization rate of 95.74% The top LGU overall was Pasay City with 98.20% When it comes to South Metro Manila LGUs, the City of Muntinlupa was at 5^th place with 89.44% while the City of Parañaque finished 8^th overall with 85.82%. COVID-19 Crisis: 118 businesses in Las Piñas City awarded with Safety Seals

To ensure that business establishments are safe for customers to visit and do business transactions in during this COVID-19 pandemic, the inspection team of the City Government of Las Piñas found one hundred and eighteen businesses qualified for the Safety Seal as revealed in a recent Manila Bulletin news report. That is a majority of the recent inspection of almost one hundred fifty businesses they visited.

The Las Piñas City government inspection and certification team has already inspected 149 business establishments around the city.

Out of the evaluated establishments, 118 have already been awarded with safety seal certification for passing the checklist in the implementation of health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Safety Seal Inspection Team formed by Mayor Imelda Aguilar is composed of City Administrator Reynaldo Balagulan, City Public Information Officer-Paul Ahljay San Miguel, and other offices in the city government.

According to the report, 31 business establishments that were inspected and evaluated still need to comply with other requirements before they will be awarded with safety seal certification.

Aguilar called on all business establishments in the city to comply with the checklist requirements.

She said the safety seal certification will allow businesses the opportunity to gradually increase their operating capacity.

For the newcomers reading this, business establishments having Safety Seals posted should restore business confidence at least in the short term. Within Las Piñas, SM Southmall itself got certified safe. Offices at Las Piñas City Hall qualified for Safety Seals.
