COVID-19 Crisis: Vaccination of patients in Muntinlupa City crosses 100,000 mark as 5,465 got vaccinated on June 10

With the vaccination of patients (including those under A4 category) in the City of Muntinlupa continuing, a notable development happened on June 10 which helped push the total number of people who got vaccinated exceed the 100,000 mark.

According to a news report by the Manila Bulletin, a single-day record of people vaccinated was registered and by adding that to the 94,805 grand total recorded on June 9, the new grand total in Muntinlupa is now 100,270.

The Muntinlupa City government has recorded the biggest number of vaccinations on Thursday when it started inoculating individuals belonging to the A4 priority group, or essential workers.

Data showed that on June 10, 5,450 individuals were administered the first dose, the highest since the Muntinlupa City government started vaccinating last March 3 when it received an initial 300 doses of CoronaVac vaccine.

There were also 15 individuals who received their second dose Thursday for a total of 5,465 doses administered in a single day.

Of the 5,465, the vaccination site at SM Center Muntinlupa recorded the highest number of vaccinees with 1,305, followed by Ayala Malls South Park with 1,053; Filinvest Bakuna Center, 982; Sucat covered court, 783; Cupang High School, 746; De La Salle Zobel School, 553; and Poblacion Elementary School, 43. All were vaccinated using Sinovac Life Sciences’ CoronaVac vaccine.

In total, Muntinlupa has administered 100,270 doses as of June 10 consisting of 94,805 as of June 9 and 5,465 on June 10.

COVID-19 Crisis: Vaccination of patients under A4 category ongoing in Muntinlupa City

In the City of Muntinlupa, the vaccination of patients under the A4 category has officially started and also the grand total number of residents who got vaccinated (both single dose and two doses) is gradually approaching the 100,000-mark (since the start of COVID-19 vaccination a few months ago).

The Muntinlupa City government has started vaccinating the A4 priority group, or essential workers, Thursday.

The number of vaccines administered in the city has reached nearly 95,000 doses.

Included in A4 are workers who are residents of Muntinlupa, or non-residents who work in the city, and individuals who need to go out of their residence to work. These are private and public sector employees, self-employed, informal sector workers and workers in a private household.

Individuals belonging to the A4 category need to register with the Muntinlupa COVID-19 Vaccination Program at vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac and wait for a text message that will contain their scheduled vaccination date and time.

For A4 workers who are residents of Muntinlupa, they need to present a proof of residency like government-issued ID indicating Muntinlupa as the address, Muntinlupa Care Card, barangay certificate or village ID.

They also need to provide proof of eligibility as A4 such as company ID or certificate of employment for government and private employees; Professional Regulation Commission ID, certificate of business registration or income tax return for self-employed or freelancer; certificate of employment and proof of residency of employer for those who work in a private household; Tricycle Regulatory Unit (TRU) ID, jeepney association ID or transport network vehicle service (TNVS) ID for public transport drivers and workers; and barangay certificate for other informal sector workers.

For non-residents, they also need the same requirements as those for residents and these requirements should show that their company, business or workplace is located in Muntinlupa.

The Muntinlupa City government is adopting the Department of Health’s memorandum of age prioritization for A4 vaccination.

According to the DOH’s Memorandum 2021-0259, “In situations where there is limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines, priority may be given to eligible Filipinos within 40-59 years old, then to those 18-39 years old.”

The city government said express lanes will be set up for those who belong to the A1 (health workers), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi has reiterated his call for residents to register with Muntinlupa’s vaccination program and get vaccinated for their protection.

As of June 9, 69,197 individuals, or 17.9 percent of the target population of 385,725, have received their first dose of the vaccine while 25,608 got their second dose for a total of 94,805 doses administered in Muntinlupa.

The vaccination organizers in Muntinlupa are doing their best to serve the registered constituents get immunized. It should be noted that the City Government’s personnel and barangay personnel have been working to vaccinate other patients (examples: bedridden, disabled) in their homes.

What could hamper the vaccination operations though is the supply of vaccines coming from abroad. Just yesterday, additional vaccines arrived and more are expected to follow. How much of that will be allocated for Muntinlupa City, we will find out soon.

As the old say goes – the more, the better! In the case of this ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the Philippines needs all the vaccines it can get! A new development is brewing in relation to this.

Yesterday, it was announced through the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that ten million vaccines doses are being eyed by the national vaccination program as additional vaccines will arrive in this new month of June. In addition, the newest supply of COVID-19 vaccine from Russia called Sputnik V just arrived.

To put things in perspective, posted below is an excerpt from the PNA’s article. Some parts in boldface…

The national vaccination program is eyeing to reach 10 million doses by the middle of the year as the bulk of Sputnik, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca orders arrive within June.

On June 6, one million doses of China’s Sinovac are expected while 1.3 million and 900,000 US-made Pfizer jabs are arriving on June 7 and 11, respectively.

Moderna vaccines, also from the US, are scheduled for delivery on June 21.

“We are very thankful that we have already breached the five-million figure and this June, mapapabilis tayo (we will speed up). We are aiming to breach another five by the end of this month,” said National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Sunday night during the arrival of 50,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccines at Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

“There will also be another batch from the COVAX facility this month most likely,” he added.

The Sputnik V jabs were taken to the PharmaServ cold storage in Marikina City.

So far, the country has received 80,000 doses of the Russian vaccines after the first two tranches of 15,000 doses each on May 1 and 12. Another shipment will arrive within 21 days.

Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Marat Pavlov, who also welcomed the delivery, said the occasion further strengthened cooperation between the two nations in fighting the pandemic.

“This is timely for the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Russia. It is important for us to help the Filipino people. [We hope to] contribute to the strength in our relationship,” he said in an interview.

Last week, Russian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Igor Morgulov said the vaccine allotment is one of the prominent areas for cooperation between the Philippines and Russia and expressed hope that more batches of the jabs could be delivered in the next months.

Indeed, more of the COVID-19 vaccines are coming in gradually here in the Philippines. Any new supply that arrives is welcome because there simply are not enough to vaccinate local citizens with the required two doses. And then there are also other challenges such as preserving the delicate vaccines and delivering them by the bulk to different cities, towns and barangays.

Meanwhile, the City of Muntinlupa confirmed that as of May 27, 2021, 46,015 residents have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, of which 16,989 have received their second dose. For those inoculated with their first dose, 22,758 received Sinovac, 16,771 were inoculated with AstraZeneca, 2,979 with Gamaleya’s Sputnik V, and 3,507 with Pfizer-BioNTech.

Muntinlupa City residents are urged to register online in the city’s COVID-19 Vaccination Registration System via www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac to avoid crowding in vaccination areas.

COVID-19 Crisis: 2,579 senior citizens receive first jab in Muntinlupa City, total inoculated comorbids at 97%

At least 2,579 senior citizens from Muntinlupa City received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine while the number of inoculated members of A3 priority group is now at 97%, according to a report from Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO).

As of April 13, Muntinlupa CHO recorded 2,579 senior citizens, comprising of 47.8% of the target population, who were vaccinated in 12 local vaccination sites. Of the total number of inoculated A2 members, 1,606 received Sinovac while 973 were vaccinated with AstraZeneca.

For members of A3 priority group or persons with comorbidities, 5,250 individuals have received their COVID-19 vaccine, of which 5,153 were inoculated with Sinovac and 97 received AstraZeneca.

There are 12,952 vaccinated Muntinlupa residents from A1 – A3 priority groups as of April 13. Recently, Muntinlupa CHO announced the roll-out of CoronoVac (Sinovac) among senior citizens starting April 12.

Among the first senior citizens in Muntinlupa who received their COVID-19 vaccine was former Press Secretary and former Muntinlupa Mayor Ignacio “Toting” Bunye (center), 70 y/o, last April 13 at Muntinlupa National High School – Tunasan Annex. Joining Bunye were Public Information Officer Tez Navarro (left) and Muntinlupa City Technical Institute director Francisco Santella (right), both senior citizens. As of April 13, Muntinlupa City Health Office recorded 2,579 senior citizens, comprising of 47.8% of the target population, who were vaccinated in 12 local vaccination sites. Vaccination sites in Muntinlupa include Tunasan Elementary School (ES), Victoria ES, Muntinlupa National High School – Annex, Muntinlupa National HS Main, Poblacion ES (SV3), Pedro E. Diaz HS, Ayala Alabang Health Center, Cupang Health Center, Buli ES, Sucat Covered Court, and Bagong Silang Elementary School. Recently, Muntinlupa City Mayor Jaime Fresnedi received his first jab of COVID-19 vaccine after President Rodrigo Duterte allowed the inoculation of mayors in “high risk” cities and towns.

Fresnedi, who is also a senior citizen at 70 y/o, has been vaccinated with the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine together with other healthcare workers and persons with comorbidities from priority groups last April 8.

The local exec urges fellow senior citizens and qualified residents who are members of the priority groups to avail the vaccination services of the government for them to have an added protection against the adverse effects of COVID-19.

He also encouraged the public to pre-register in the city’s COVID-19 vaccination registration through www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac and to still strictly observe health protocols such as frequent hand-washing, wearing of face masks and face shields, and physical distancing.

Further, Muntinlupa City started distributing the emergency subsidy from the national government to families affected by the enhanced community quarantine in NCR Plus. As of April 13, Muntinlupa City has 9,246 confirmed cases with 7,165 recoveries, 1,838 active cases, 243 reported deaths, 191 suspect cases, and 781 probable cases.
